By 1985, the chain has 17 stores in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and California.
In 1987, the company built its first superstore to compete with companies such as Linens ‘N Things. It was at this time that the name was changed to Bed Bath & Beyond.
In 1992, the company goes public on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol: BBBY

In January 2021, Kohl’s and Bed Bath & Beyond stated that they would stop selling My Pillow due to comments made by CEO Mike Lindell in support of Trump, as well as misinformation about Trump winning the presidential election.
Bed Bath and Beyond filed for bankruptcy protection and was purchased by Overstock.com. Currently, the company is an online retailer only.
In 2018, the company reported annual revenue of $12 billion. Company headquarters are located in Union, New Jersey.

I had a very unpleasant experience in the Champaign, IL store this afternoon, (6/1/21). The checkout person was very curt and quite unprofessional. She clearly did not seem to enjoy her job. Just after she rang up my purchases, I noted that two items that were on sale, rang up full price. They each should have been two dollars less than they rang up. When I immediately brought it to her attention, she told me that I would have to go back “to the end of the line” and then she would fix it. So, I went to the end of the line, waited another few minutes and again got to the register. The girl was having a great deal of difficulty figuring out how to correct the mistake. After a few minutes, she called a floor manager for help. We waited a couple minutes for the floor manager to arrive. The floor manager quickly reset the register and walked away, but the girl still could not figure out how to fix the problem. She announced to me that I would be getting a refund that was two dollars short of what I was owed. When I politely explained to her that it should be at least four dollars plus tax…she became literally enraged. She totally lost it. She tore off her apron, threw it down on the counter, and stomped off loudly screaming; “I can’t deal with this….I need a break” which left me (and customers behind me) dumbfounded and the register unattended. Both the floor manager and another checker witnessed this display of rudeness and both verbalized that they couldn’t believe what she had just done. The floor manager returned to the register and apologized over and again for the girl’s behavior. She quickly fixed the issue and gave me my refund. In fact, she and the other checker suggested that I talk to the Store Manager. They called down the Store Manager (Gary?) who after another few minutes came to talk with me. The checker that had stomped off, was right behind him as if she wanted to hear our conversation. I asked the Store Manager to walk away from the area where the girl was as she made me feel quite uncomfortable. I explained to him what had just occurred. Unbelievably, the Manager did NOT once apologize for her behavior. Rather, he stated; “Yes, she came and told me what had just happened…” I politely told him that I have shopped at BB&B both in store and online for years and will not continue to patronize a place that treats it’s customers so rudely. I suggested that if this girl has such a short temper and gets frustrated so easily that she should not be working with customers in the front of the store, representing your company. As we talked, he seemed quite uncomfortable, he kind of shrugged his shoulders, and said he didn’t know what was going on with her and that he’d talk to her…and he never once apologized for what I had just endured. I left the store not only shook up but in total disbelief.

I recently purchased Wamasutta sheets from BB&B, and was troubled by the amount of unrecyclable plastic that is used as packaging. Please consider finding a method of packaging this product in a more environment-friendly way – other bedding companies are making this important adjustment. Please pass this message on to your corporate responsibility staff.
Thank you.

You have just lost another customer. I will no longer patronize your store. By cancelling My Pillow and Mike Lindell, I have cancelled you!
Apparently, free speech in the United States is no longer allowed by conservative voices. I can only hope you will need to close even more stores by your actions.
Stephen Geiger says
I am informing you that I will no longer shop at Bed Bath and Beyond. The reason is because you dropped My Pillow from your stores. I have read your reason for doing so but I find it highly suspicious that your action came soon after Mike Lindell expressed concerns on voter fraud. I know that those on the left dismiss claims of voter fraud as non-existent. That is a lie. There is more than ample evidence of voter fraud in multiple states in multiple manners. Mike Lindell has the right to his voicing concern about fraud in our election system. I believe your dropping his company as an attack on free speech so I will no longer be shopping at your stores.
Christine Land says
I see that Mike Lindell’s My Pillow products are on clearance at my local store. If it is true that you are pulling his products from the items you carry in your stores and online, rest assured you have seen the last of me and the money I spend with you! If you want to play politics, get out of the retail business altogether! Good bye!

So corporate can view the store cameras: 10/9/2020 10:20am I was returning an online order of glass mugs, that came broken. The weight was approximately 30lbs. The security guard and a customer was blocking the door. The customer moves out of the way, but the security guards stop me and allows the customer the right of way. I told him, I’m carrying this very heavy package, but you stopped me and allowed them to come through? He apologized. Well, a cashier of store#20 (Antonio) didn’t like the way I spoke to the guard and kept stirring me down with a very stern face! I asked him if something was wrong? He says “Is something wrong with you”? He kept stirring at me, and I at him. Then he says “Can I help you??!!” and comes from around his counter (In a threatening manner), over to me, and in my face, “Can I help you”??!! I didn’t say anything, and he walked away saying, “Yeah, I thought so”!! (Totally out of line!!) I reported this to the acting Manager Pablo. Also reported his actions to the police: Incident#20100900001829

Why is it that Bed, Bath & Beyond is closing stores and buybuybaby is not? Are those employees not as valuable as BBB’s? People are constantly going into those stores and touching things, coughing all over everything. You should be held accountable if any of those dedicated employees get COVID-19

Dear Ms. Joyce,
I am not sure who to direct my email and if you will be so kind to forward my email to the appropriate manager, it will be much appreciated. I chose to address my email to you in your capacity as Public Relations Senior Manager. And, my email has everything to do with public/customer relations.
Norman, a long time BBB employee, works at Store No. 42, Chelsea location in NYC. In all the many years or decades I’ve been shopping at BBB, Norman has always greeted customers with a smile and a willing eager attitude to help. The quality of his customer service is par excellence. His knowledge of BBB products is remarkable. Norman is professional at all times and he goes beyond the extra mile to assist customers. I know this for a fact since I’ve been a recipient of his support at the store for many many years. Norman makes shopping at BBB a delight.
I sincerely hope that his excellent work will not go unnoticed. I ask that this message reaches the right ears at BBB.
Respectfully yours,

I am totally disgusted with the new direction shopping has taken thanks to the Amazon, on line, ap-phone crap. As a senior citizen, and not to good at working with the ap phone, I do not like buying anything without seeing it in person, touching it, and in general, being in the store, and perhaps seeing other merchandise I might want to buy. Its not just Bed Bath & Beyond that concerns me regarding its closing – all my other favorite stores have closed – Fortunoff, Sterns, and too many more to mention. But naturally the world of shopping and every other area in life is geared now to youth. As a senior citizen, I am a dinasaur – and I don’t care if I misspelled it. I can’t stand all this crap with Amazon Prime. Isn’t Bezos rich enough? I used to be able to lose myself shopping in stores and now, there is no stock, you cannot find anything and everything is in danger of closing. Thanks to the new technology called the freaking “ap” – on line. We seniors have waiting our whole lives to enjoy the freedom of the golden years and there is nothing out there for us anymore.

I had purchase a comforter this past April 2019 and since my purchased it has not been used or open from the original packaging till yesterday when I was ready to used it. I wash the comforter first like I always do then dry it,after effect of it was not good. The fabric was sticking to the fillers of the comforter and there were dry brittle insulation.
I called the store in Jersey City, NJ by Newport Centre Mall to inquiring about the return policy and told the girl that I cannot locate the receipts, she asked me whether or not I paid by cash or credit card and informed her I paid with my credit card. She said no problem they can locate once my credit card is run through. Here I am not took the comforter back with the original packaging and the person said it can no longer locate that sale since it’s been over 6 months.
I decided to asked for a manager and he himself was not helpful and not very accommodating. I told him that the product was not used at all that it will be my first time using. He told me to contact Manufacturer and that was not appropriate. I work in retail myself and as far as Customer Service in your store in Jersey City it is lacking of it. I will never shopped there again or in any of your stores.

This has to be the worst company to work for in Charlottesville Va., my daughter and numerous of other employees never got raises that were promised or their back pay for several years. This company hops from employee to employee trying to see who will ask the lowest amount for taking that position and then never paying them. My daughter never received back pay or raises promised for 3 years, this company should be a shame of themselves! The head manager doesn’t do anything for his employees, don’t believe a word he says, Major retard that is scared of corporate and lies to employees. I will bash and tell all about BBB online and will be pushing my daughter to talk to a attorney. She found a better job after wasting so much time with this company!

I bought an indoor/outdoor tablecloth in March ’19. I never opened it but decided I needed a smaller size. Tried to exchange it 5-16. there’s a 30 day return policy on summer items? It’s still spring? They said new policy and it’s a summer item. Receipt didn’t show it to be a summer item. How would I have known? they wouldn’t exchange it. Who thinks these stupid things up? I still like the store but that is ridiculous!

I tried to return a shower chair and was told BBB would not take it back because I did not have a receipt for the product. The product I bought was structurally damaged and so I could not use it but wanted to return it for the same item which wasn’t damaged. I was not allowed to do that nor was I given store credit or any positive service at all. I was told to contact the manufacturer of the item because they weren’t sure I bought it in their store. Baloney! I saw 4 packages of the same item on their shelf. I was also told that if it were a gift and I had no receipt it would not be taken back either unless it was in it’s original package. So if you were buying a gift for someone, based upon their store policy and customer service, I would go elsewhere.
I have NEVER had a problem like this. I never heard of a store taking such a position. I will NEVER shop in BBB again nor will I shop in any of their subsidiaries. In fact, last week, I bought an ironing board, and as I no longer will patronize BBB, this week I returned it. Thereafter, I bought a much better ironing board elsewhere….Further, after reading the reviews of others on this site, I see I am not alone in my opinion of BBB.

Had a bad experience today. I was looking at vacuum cleaners and was not prepared to make a purchase until I started speaking with a clerk who was standing nearby. She told me
that one of the items that I was looking at was on sale for a good deal. She also said that I could use my 20% off coupon. I decided that it was such a good deal that I couldn’t turn it down. When I got to the register the clerk would not allow the coupon to be used. She explained to me that I was speaking to a Dyson rep and the rep should not have told me that I could use the coupon along with the sale price. I realize now that it was the rep’s error, but I also think that BBB could have honored the coupon this one time because I was misled on the price that I would be paying. Just saying, as I did not go into the store to make this purchase until I thought I was getting a super deal…
Jean Fasanelle says
I am so angry with BBB, I have been trying to get the coupons in the mail for almost 2 years. I live in Garden Apt (co-op) in New York, with two different residents in each building. I used to be on the there list until my upstairs neighbor moved in two years ago, which in turn they took my name off, because they said they only allow coupons to one household. No matter how many times I tried to explain to them that I live in a Co-Op apt. which there are two different apts in each building. I called & wrote several letters to no avail.. They then told me I had to change my address in USPS to read apt # 1 or 2. No one in my development has an apt. #. The post office will not do that. So angry with BBB that I gave up trying to make them understand.

To whom it may concern/ Director of Sales: I bought a make-up mirror for my wife for her birthday present 2 months ago. She loved it and than she decided she wanted a mirror with lights on the side. So, I tried to return the item back to Bed Bath and Beyond from your company at our local department store in Daly City, California. Because it has been more than 30 days since I purchased it, the store will no longer would take the item back.
I don’t have my receipt and the upc from the box. Most of the time I have fared well, but this time with no receipt or sticker on the mirror, I have not been so lucky. The Mirror is in fine condition in which I paid 84.68. Your products were always great and I would like to get store credit to purchase another mirror with side lights and I will return the other mirror to the desk help person. The store manager was very rude and his only answer to me was I could use the mirror for a very costly door stopper. His tone and reasoning was very disappointing and he could have cared less about my situation.
I know that your company doesn’t carry these mirrors anymore, but I would like a refund in the amount of this mirror purchase price or store credit, so I could get the right one she needs. Mirrors of comparable size and style go for around $80-120.00 from your company. I would be happy to either have a new mirror or the store credit to replace the one that she needs. Thank-you.

I purchased a item from Bed Bath & Beyond; and the product came quickly and was treated with much respect by a young man; however, he was missed informed. I was hesitant to give him my personal email that I check daily; but he assured me it was only used for this “one time!” Well it is not, the day after I gave him my personal email I started getting phishing emails to open a website>>>which could have been a virus or spam! I called Customer Service and was told by a supervisor I waited for “Laurie,” that it is permanent, they cannot erase me email out of their system. I called the store manager to request that he tell his employees not to tell customers; “It is a one time thing,” because it definitely it is not. He gets on the defensive and says, “Well, that is what we are told!” When I explained what just happened, as I have not given my email out to ANYONE lately, but them….and he starts with; “Well, that has never happened to him.” Letting him know I wasn’t talking about HIM, but my situation! In other words there is NOT admission of being wrong or sorry for my situation or help! Use an off line email is what you need to do, or don’t buy from them period!

They also treat the seniors the same way, except one employee in the May’s Landing Store. Barbara Antel is the most wonderful, hard working, conscientious person ever!. She takes time to help people with the merchandise, making sure the customer has what they need and is happy with their purchase and experience!. She is a real gem!. She’s a keeper in my book!.

I purchased a basinet for my daughter. Since she had already purchased a different one, she decided to return this one. She took it back in the unopened box, just as she received it, to the store, as indicated on your website for return policy. But the store turned her away telling her to have it shipped it back. My daughter is 7 mo pregnant, so that was an uncommonly rude thing your store did. Now the BB&B return center received back the item I purchased – but would not refund it back to my credit card, because “based on BB&B policy” they need to ask my daughter if it’s ok to return the item to the original form of payment!!! This is quite unheard of! Where is that policy disclosed to the customers?! BB&B Customer Service is a joke – they could not answer my question – WHERE IS THAT POLICY?? I want to see it.
I was asked by BB&B CS to give fmy daughter’s phone # for them to call her! I feel very uncomfortable, this should be illegal. Please contact me and advise at your earliest convenience.

Recently I shopped at Bed Bath & Beyond located at Bear Valley Rd. Victorville, CA. I was very tired and had to pick-up several items. Not knowing where these items were, a young lady by the name of Rochelle asked if I needed help, saying yes and telling her what it was I was looking for she took the time and patience to assist me. In no time at all I had everything I needed in my basket, thanks to Rochelle. Being a 77 year old I so I was so grateful for Rochelle’s help.
The next day I had to return one of my purchases and select something else in its stead, Rochelle happened to be working and she graciously assisted me with the exchange , again smiling and being so helpful.
This young lady, Rochelle, should be recognized by the company for her knowledge of where the merchandise is located in the store and so helpful to this customer. Thank you Rochelle.

HORRIBLE service. Ordered Item to be delivered. Took 2 days to finally ship. Stated FEDEX delivery. Tracked it to Phoenix terminal. It has been sitting there 3 days. NO HELP FROM B.B.B, FedEx told me they can take as long as the sender, B.B.B states they can. Why would B.B.B tell the carrier to take all the days they estimate when I am 3 hrs away? Then FedEx stated once it DOES leave their facility it will be handed off to USPS. It saves the B.B.B $$$ on delivery service. It is FRAUD to advertise deliver service paid for as FEDEX when they do NOT deliver it. Secondly, why would B.B.B. not want service to their customers ASAP? I told them to cancel order and was told they could not as order was not completed. CALL your DUMB AS* carrier, its sitting in their terminal in the corner. LOUSY COMPANY, NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN, looking into litigation on bases of fraud and delivery manipulation. This company needs to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE is 1st, not pleasing their carriers for deliveries. Who’s Paying WHO????????

Does it come to a point of reordering (5) or more times before anyone that cares take the initiated to resolve the issue.

I have purchased a paid of window blinds about a month and a half ago.
They arrived dented. Since then I have returned only to have the replacement blinds arrive dented. After returning the blinds and receiving the third replacement, it also arrived damaged/dented.
At this point I have no choice but to go through the same process again.
The last time I spoke to a manager I asked if there was a way to ensure that the blinds could be inspected prior to leaving the warehouse. I still don’t know if they left the warehouse damaged or if it happened during shipping.
Tomorrow I will be making a third trip to the store.
I completely regret purchasing from BB&B. No matter how good a deal it may appear to be this is definitely not worth it.

It may not seem like much but in a world where everything (AMAZON!!!) is on line and customer service is less than stellar, Edwin went over and above to find and email me a copy of a receipt from two months ago that I had lost.
To me, this is what is so special about BB&B – you do customer service right. I will go out of my way to shop there because of people like Edwin Roman.
Thank you!

Through the assistance of a lovely girl named Tiffany in the Chicago Ridge, IL store, I was able to locate an item that had been discontinued. She found the item in the Washington D.C.store – so I gave them a call. Fortunately, Brendon and Dave found the item on their clearance table and put it aside. They said they could not ship it to me directly and that I’d have to go through my local store in Frankfort, IL to contact the D.C. store and have the item shipped to Frankfort. I spoke with the Frankfort, IL store manager and she had her assistance get on it immediately. After a week, I spoke with the assistant and she could not track the package – so she contacted the D.C. store and spoke with David who hadn’t shipped the item after a week. She had him create the ship label with her name and the store number and had it shipped Fed Ex. After several days, I still hadn’t heard about the package. I visited the Frankfort store and spoke with Kathy and she advised me that David put the wrong store number on the shipping label and it ended up in one of BB&B’s warehouse/distribution center somewhere in PA. Kathy and her Ops Manager has been emailing this center for a week and leaving voice mails. No one has responded to them to my knowledge. Kathy is still working on this, my my hope of getting the last of this discontinued item is lessening. I did the original leg work to find this item and was so happy to locate it, only to have an employee in the D.C. office sit on it then ship it to the wrong location. I worked in Corporate my whole life and I’m having a hard time buying the fact that there is no way of finding the Manager of this fulfillment center in PA and that emails and voice mails are ignored. The item I was hoping to get is a matching piece to a bath ensemble. This is frustrating to say the least. Kathy is still working on this and maybe it will still happen, but it’s not looking good! Shame on David in the D.C. store for not shipping it without having to be pressured by the Frankfort IL store.

I am reading through the string of problems with this store and I have decided to add mine:
On 3/31/17 I went into the store to make a purchase. While trying to figure out how I could swipe my card without arching my back (the card reader is under a ledge which sits about 2 feet higher over the machine, fine for average height people, not so much for taller folks). I bent down to swipe and banged my head on the ledge pretty hard. I bounced up and rubbed my head, telling the cashier that the ledge was dangerous and it shouldn’t be there. As I was in a hurry, I left the store but came back that Saturday to file a complaint. That site had NO idea what I needed to do, I was in the store for nearly 40 minutes and the manager finally found a phone number for me to call, Unfortunately it was for their in house nurse who only helps employees! I asked would she know who I should call if customers get hurt she said no. My husband was getting upset as no one knew anything. The manager suggested I call Jennifer (the site Manager) on Monday. Jennifer called me and left a message apologizing for me getting hurt and I tried to call her back a couple of times but she was unavailable. I was working online with someone too and I guess that person passed me onto someone in claims. I explained again what happened – sent pictures of my bruise and the ledge in that store. The outcome? I got offered a 200 gift card and was told sorry for your trouble and inconvenience!! Ahhh….I got hurt on their premises on something that never should have been there in the first place (why don’t they just put the damn card machine on a pedestal like every other freaking company does so the customer can shield their pins? Oh wait, they want to see if they can entice you to buy that one crappy article on the ledge that didn’t sell anywhere else in the store before heading out the door!) I wanted that issue addressed – no mention of that in the email I got back from claims. Look, I am not trying to get rich here, while I did get a rather nasty bump, I didn’t lose any work over it, but those ledges have got to go, surely I can’t be the only person who actually bumped their heads on those things. And a 200 gift card to BBB is not something I would ever use, I barely go in there, prices are extremely high for ordinary things. And worse to reduce my incident to “trouble and inconvenience” is a little frightening. Is this a way for a large company to treat people?

On Sunday, May 7, I went on your website looking for a particular. Another thing that had to fall in line with me ordering this item is that it HAD to be delivered to me by Friday, May 12.
I found the item and your site stated I would have it in 3-5 business days. PERFECT!!!!
The following day, Monday, May 8, I received a email informing me my item had been shipped n would be delivered on Friday, May 12. VERY PERFECT, JUST THE DAY I NEEDED IT!
Later that day I checked the status. It showed nothing, blank. Odd I thought.
Tuesday morning, May 9, I checked again….still nothing, absolutely nothing.
Same thing Tuesday night.
Finally……. Wednesday morning, May 10, the FedEx site showed it was pickup n left, which was in the state right next to me. Didn’t get too nervous because I knew that was only 4 hours away, so should still get to my home by Friday.
This morning, May 11, I checked, in case I needed to stick around the house and wait for it. I was, not surprisingly, SHOCKED to discover that it was now 5 hours away from me in the opposite side of the state I live in. JUST WOW!!!! Flew right over my state……
Even more upsetting I soon discovered it was now stating delivery of Monday, May 15, way past when I needed it.
So, I simply called BBB and informed the representative to just cancel my order since they could not uphold what was promised on their website and more importantly what they promised in the email they sent me on the 8th.
However, she said I couldn’t cancel because the order was already COMPLETED…… WRONG I told her, if I do not have the item in my possession then it is not COMPLETE. She said, well sir it is as far as we are concerned.
Then I about lost it. I told her I DO NOT WANT it any longer. She said, well once it does get there sometime next week you can refuse it but we won’t refund your money for another 4 to 6 weeks…..
Are you freaking kidding me. Lol, then I did lose it.
Funny how both Walmart and Amazon will, and has, refund your money within 48 hours…..
Let me throw some numbers out…..let’s just say BBB, on average, has 1000 returns a month, at $50 per, and they hold onto the funds for 4-6 weeks. That’s $600,000 per year. There’s some serious money they are making just from the interest…….
Once I got off the phone with BBB’s rep I did my best to cool down. Then I got to thinking. Decided I would just call FedEx, save them the time and effort of delivery the item. Tell them to put a STOP on the item.
WOW, it gets even more crazy. The FedEx lady said: unfortunately there’s nothing we can do either Mr Lee. BBB has this item contracted thru a 3rd party, meaning once it gets to your state it’s going to be turned over to the USPS system. I was like, WTFreak…….by now P/B is climbing. I said, well guess I’ll just call the USPS central sorting office and have them put a Stop on it. She replied, well you need to wait until it reaches your state first. I said, I figured it had by now since it was in so-so this morning. Lol, she then said, WELL NOW ITS IN SO-SO NOW!!!! OH MY FREAKIN…….now in the state BELOW my state.
This freakin item left the location right next to me n has traveled all around the state it’s to be delivered to. Sad really ?
Tomorrow morning I’m guessing it will be in the state above me.
I will never order from BBB ever again due to them not upholding what they promised and the horrible customer service.
Thank You,
William Lee

I had the most positive encounter at this Bed and Bath with a gentleman named Corey. He approached me to ask if he could help and several minutes later I returned to him for assistance. What a pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient young man! He ended up ordering on-line for me, but it was his whole demeanor that convinced me that if he is not now he should be in charge as he is a natural people -person. In my many years of shopping I do not remember an encounter with a sales person to have been as totally professional as this experience with Corey!

I hope that I am not too late in talking to those who complained about BBB severing their handling Ivanka Trump’s whatever. Firstly–I am not connected with BBB whatsoever. Bit I get irritated that 13 year old spoiled brats will go on-line and try to coerce the owners of a business to do “whatever” THEY want just because of the Company’s decision (i.e.: not to handle Ivanka Trump’s line of whatever) by saying I won’t ever buy anything from your store(s) again. You poor little girl. How pathetic is this? I’ve been a Senior Buyer for most of my life and made decisions based on what’s good for the company many times. Stop being a baby and grow up! it’s their decision, NOT yours!

I recently went to one of your stores in Colorado Springs, Colorado (5944 Barnes Road, Colorado Springs, CO) and had a terrible experience with one of your store managers, Don. Here is my review that I posted on Yelp. I would appreciate a prompt response to this issue.
“I am very displeased with my experience over at this Bed Bath and Beyond. Don, the manager was quite aggressive towards me when I had an product issue. If I ever come in contact with that manager ever again, I will be contacting Corporate headquarters. When I was approached by the manager, he stood 18 inches from my face and never backed up, even after I distanced myself from his original approach, he followed me move for move. That was a very aggressive tactic. I believe this manager, Don, needs to take a Conflict Management course and problem solving/ decision making class at a local university to educate him on dealing with issues in a respectful manner. I originally went in calmly knowing that Bed Bath and Beyond would take care of me like they always have, even through my wedding last year!”
Thank you.

What is this country coming to when stores start pulling Ivanka’s brand from the shelves? What kind of board members are you? Are you running a business or just pandering to a liberal bias who probably never had the class to purchase an item from a line that is beautiful in both style and workmanship.
I lived in New Jersey for over 40 years, shopped your stores regularly and continued to here in Florida. Gosh, my sister even worked in one of your locations for 5 years but it’s all over now. You’ll never find me in your store again or at your online site. Amen

I read with dismay that Bed Bath & Beyond is a retailer that will no longer carry Ivanka Trump’s merchandise given in to pressure by groups that are against our President Donald J Trump. You must realize that half the country voted for him and you stand to loose business as a result of this political decision. I for one will boycott your store for that very reason.

In January I purchased a Kitchenaid blender from your Auburn, WA store. It had a $30.00 rebate that came with it. I followed all the instructions and send the material in to you for the rebate. After one month, I checked on the rebate and was told that I sent in the wrong UPC code. I called you customer service line and went up the food chain until I spoke with a manager.
I told the manager that I sent in the only UPC code on the box and even told him that I could send him pictures of the box to verify my statements. “No need,” says manager, we will send your rebate to you.”
It is not mid-March and I have not received my rebate. I am still being told that my UPC code is not valid. Needless to say, your manager just gave me lip service and had no intention of honoring his promise to me.
It is sad that a store that I shop at regularly has gone as far as to lie to a customer in order to not pay a $30 rebate. I will no longer shop at any of your stores and will file a complaint with the WA Attorney General’s office.

Bed Bath Beyond is By far one of the worst companies to work for. Managers are terrible and unprofessional. I have been discriminated against and got given equal opportunity as other male employees. The company protects its own (managers) and treat lower titled employees like they don’t matter. All this company care about is money. Managers talk to employees like we’re stupid and don’t know what’s going on. A lot of things going on in the stores (813) with higher management should be reported but most people don’t know their rights as a employee. If people/customers really knew how BBB treats their employees many wouldn’t shop there. If you as a employee have a real case your best bet is to report to the EEOC!!

This place in Raleigh NC, I thought it was like family to my daughter. But seen her coming home with depression and crying because the Store manager called her a waist of human, I’m about to blow my mind! My child is trying to go to college and volunteer on Sunday on a homeless center. We were homeless a year ago, and she feels that she should pay back volunteering helping homeless like us. Well they declined it and requested for her to quit. Really? And it’s another co-worker of hers that just got a second job and they told her she will get fired if she does not show up to work. Meanwhile she’s trying to explain that she needs a second job so she can be able to pay her rent, water, electricity, apartment and car insurance and care for her kids. Really?? Slavery still exists in this company! No wonder Everyone quit this place. My girl is the last one standing from her group and nothing. What is going on with this? Yes she been out because she been sick and she turn in her hospital notes.

I totally agree. I was fired and was told cuz of my criminal background, which goes back 15yrs and none are felonys, told them when they asked me to join their team. Day I was fired I was told I should have had charter witnesses to verify how ive changed . What? I was made by eddy to give back name badge then escorted out the building. Rick would have me cleaning all the sections and rining and the girl at customer service would play on her phone, if she were to take a customer he’d tell her no, make her do it, shes not doing anything, and if I were to push carts to the bback for damages, hed follow me and ask why im back there? What I was doing then leave and call me on loud speaker to go back to my register. He’d then say u are never doing your job, how slow I was. Unfortunately I can’t do 3peoples job at once while he flirts with the young tall blond hair blue eyed girl, on that note my husband has blond hair and blue eyes so I don’t have issues with race if thats what u may be thinking. I watched an employee come in drunk and high and all that was done was 2other employees took her home and one of the managers was sleeping with an employee but im the one who was fired and treat like a piece of XXXXX that some wanted to lynch.

This store abuses their employees. My 60 year old mother worked here temporarily because she needed money in her retirement. She was worked to the bone and would come home dehydrated and they were refused resources to any water. My father had thought she was having a heart attack every day she came home. She then broke her wrist and they said they can’t do anything, meanwhile this is a brand new store with a huge mess everywhere and she tripped over a stool no one was even allowed to use. She has never broken her wrist before and I’m infuriated that such a company can treat their employees let alone their older employees like this! I will never be buying from here again and I will make sure none of my friends or family works here again. I am finding ways to seek justice for my mother who only wanted to have some money to pay her health insurance bills which, will be going up because of the wrist.

Seeing all the other posts, I’m sure this will fall on deaf ears. Last week I attempted to return a crockpot back to the Conroe Texas store which I had purchased in November. The manager was called up (Brian?) and he stated he could not find where we had purchased the item from them. I gave him my bank statement which showed we had spent almost $500 with them that date and had purchased it with them. The manager basically called us liars, and stated there was no record of any sales fir us. My husband stated that this is crap, as it’s an obvious mistake in there system, and the manager started yelling at him to quit cussing him which he didn’t do. The manager needs to attend some customer relations classes, as he has no idea how to work with the public. As a result of his rant, we were treated incredibly rudely, and were embarrassed as many customers witnessed this exchange, we have decided to never shop with this company again.

He kept looking at my clothes expressing his opinion about how this job would be to hard for me. I am literally sick to my stomach! I have spent hours upon hours every day this week trying to resolve a problem with an order I placed for a disabled person in my senior building. To go with a mattress set replacing an old painful piece she had, I order a full comforter set with sheets and a bed skirt, among other items. According to FedEx tracking, it was in my area on Tuesday. It took about ten calls to make sure the apartment number was on the order because Bed Bath & Beyond had omitted it! Then, while I was given verbal assurance it would be here on Tuesday, it never arrived. The item was in a town 15 minutes away! Told it would come Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday and then Saturday. More appeals to BB&B Customer Service yielded nothing. Then, all of a sudden, I am told the package has been delivered. Well, NO. There was no package to be found anywhere in the building! We searched lobby, stairwells, floors in the building. No package! Earlier in the week, Fed Ex wrote that bad weather was a reason. Weather was a balmy 70 degrees. I emailed photos of weather each day, the false delivery promises, etc. to no avail. One BBB rep said they tried for three days to deliver but were unsuccessful…..a lie, since we have an office open until 5 pm and I have not left my apartment all week, and the tracking information does not indicate that. I had to purchase additional sheets elsewhere for the poor woman’s bed! I had been promised that another express order would be placed, but that did not happen! Fed Ex did not call me as they said they would. I would cancel everything except that we had put up matching curtains in the woma’s apartment and this was the comforter color she wanted. However, the stress on those of us involved with this in the building has been great. We have to find an outside person to left the mattress to put on the bed skirt, which would not have been necessary had the comforter arrived on Tuesday AS PROMISED BY BBB that same day. The caliber of BBB rep service leaves a lot to be desired. The trustworthiness of the carrier is nil. I should have read reports about them sooner, though when I ordered I did not know this is who they contract. So far, four days and long hours on the phone and sending evidence and repeating story, all for naught. This is a sloppy way to run a business!!!

Two quick thoughts:
Q: How many attempts does it take to get a mail order right?
A: More than three and still counting
K-cup coffees ordered. Three shipments from three locations and what was ordered and billed still not received.
Second thought: K-cup coffee filters in your stores cost more than FOUR times what other outlets charge. FOUR times?

First let me start by saying have always had a pleasant experience in our local Bed, Bad and Beyond store. (McDonough, GA)
I was surprised today when I was embarrassed by one of the staff. I was waiting in a long line to check out and turned to tell my husband something. When I turned around the lady said you may go to this register unless you are spending the night here. I just said no and checked out. After I got out of the store I told my husband that all she needed to say was next customer in line instead of asking me if I was spending the night. I was embarrassed in front of all the other shoppers. I don’t think this staff member is representative of your customer friendly brand.

You give us an outlet to complain but do you really care??
To be honest, I’m shocked that a company that has been in business as long as you have can be so irresponsible with it’s customers.
You know what season it is correct???
I ordered a bean bag chair for my granddaughter who we rarely get to see because she lives on the other side of the country from us. I received the confirmation and it said the chair would be delivered between the 20 to the 26th so I was being hopeful for the 24th but could have lived with it if it came after Christmas.
After checking today I find that the order is still processing and after calling Customer Service I find the item is not in stock and was never shipped. The item was not listed as out of stock when I purchased it online and I was never notified.
So I wasted 8 days when I could have been looking for a substitute.
Now, if I can even find a suitable substitute, it will most likely not make it to the West Coast by Christmas without a ton of extra shipping fees.
Thanks for making Christmas Merry and Bright for one little girl.

Ashley Valley;
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday.
Recapping our conversation, we spoke about a bulling/harassment/defamation/slander incident that occurred in the Harmon Face Values location #8023 in Totowa, NJ, on February 21, 2016 and subsequently escalated by 2 different Bed Bath corporate employees.
The incident involved the health & beauty manager {Joanne ?} singling out/ bullying / harassing a Convergence employee invited there to do a cosmetic reset.
Joanne made unwarranted, insulting and inappropriate verbal comments toward the employee, demanded that the employee leave, and escalated the situation by calling the police 20 minutes after the employee left the store.
The manager’s behavior was unprofessional, humiliating, embarrassing and created an uncomfortable work and shopping environment for employees and customers.
This issue “pushed the envelope” approximately 5 days later when a Bed Bath employee circulated a self validating recount of of the events as fact.
The email, circulated to Bed Bath and Convergence corporate offices as well ashbcswteam at bedbath.com, targeted the Convergence employee. The author misrepresented the truth with false allegations and slanderous remarks; parts of it were complete fallacies. Further, as Joanne demanded the employee leave the store, the author of the slanderous email demanded the Convergence employee be banned from doing any work in Bed Bath Beyond (as well as Harmon Face Value and Christmas Tree Shops) and left the employee virtually unemployed.
As I mentioned when we spoke is an effort to resolve this issue amicably.
Ultimately and most agreeably the employee would be satisfied with being able to return to his full time job.
optimistically we can come to an agreement and a fair resolution.
Once again thank you for your time in this matter.
Looking forward to your response
Sincerely,
Joseph Rizzo

Based on comments I’ve seen here and elsewhere, Corporate needs to find out what the store in Pensacola, Florida is doing right and do likewise. It’s my go-to choice for home goods. The employees all know what’s in stock and where to find it. It’s obvious they are empowered to treat customers well, even if shaves a penny off store revenue here and there. Recently I mentioned to an employee that an item the online site showed was available wasn’t on the shelf. He ordered it for me, to be delivered to our house free of shipping, and even applied a discount without taking the coupon I had in hand so that I could use it on something else. This is the kind of service that keeps that particular store always busy, no matter what day or season you visit.
Stacy says
I am a 10 year employee at this company. After much thought and speaking to fellow employees at the Corporate office Union NJ, I have determined that job satisfaction, employee morale and proper management are at an all time low.
I researched employee reviews online as well and those did not save this company’s image. Employees are being treated like they are just a number. The directors and managers show no concern for employee well being. Basic things are not being done. Employees do NOT have clear job descriptions. They do not know what is clearly expected of them, what their objectives are, or where they fit in the organization. Surveys are not done to assess job satisfaction so employees go through work day to day with no way of properly expressing their dissatisfaction. Most employees stay because they have no choice. Those who do have a choice quickly move on. The company will not be able to retain the best workers like this…. But do they care? No!
The training of new employees is extremely poor. This cannot be considered “on the job” training. It’s more like “I’ll kick you outta the nest and see if you fly” training. New employees are not properly introduced to the system or procedures and are not given clear job duties. This is highly inefficient and counter productive. Proper training results in confidence, reduction of errors and high productivity. The new employees are constantly unsure of themselves because they are not being properly trained! I don’t know when was the last time someone in our office got complimented for a job well done. We are only spoken to by management when something goes wrong. New policies are constantly being implemented without asking us how we feel about the job and the company. The directors actually monitor our work on a daily basis. What the hell are you monitoring when your expectations and our job duties are not properly conveyed to us?
These things outlined are basic management principles yet they are ignored. The company lacks leadership! This goes to show… Some people may be competent in their field but are not skilled at managing and leading people. I would not recommend working here unless you really needed money. Even then, the stress is not worth it.

Bed Bath & Beyond stole from me!! I can’t believe this.
I received a Ibaby monitor as a gift from my step-mom but since I have an Android, that particular monitor is not compatible. I would not be able to use this At all. Being that this was a gift I do not have the receipt. Who gives the receipt when you buy someone a present ?!
I brought the monitor into the Redmond Washington Bed Bath & Beyond with the intentions on exchanging or finding something else that I could use.
I was asked many many questions I would not have the answers to (without asking my step mom) , nor do I feel it’s appropriate to ask the person who gave me a nice thoughtful gift. I didn’t even necessarily want her knowing I had to exchange just because she would feel bad. But I had no choice because I was told I needed to provide the name of who purchased it, where exactly it was purchased from, when it was purchased, the payment method in which it was paid for etc.
Keep in mind, I’m not trying to return for cash or anything…. Just merely exchange or store credit towards something that I would actually be able to use. . But when the manager was unable to find whatever proof of purchase he was so intent on getting… Instead of giving me back my gift and item I walked into the store carrying, he refused to give it back to me at all!!!! . I literally left empty handed. . No merchandise credit or my gift from my step mom.
I don’t understand how this is ok! The company policy states without a receipt; no problem. . You can directly exchange or receive merchandise credit minus a certain percentage off of the full retail value. No where does it state that I would need to be able to provide very specific information regarding the purchase date, payment method, location etc of the merchandise I’m attempting to return. . And if I was not able to provide such information that MY gift would not be given back to me at All!!!
Am I the only one that finds this Beyond wrong?!?! How is this even legal?? I’m pretty sure it’s not.
I will Fight to get my gift back from Bed Bath & Beyond, even if it’s virtually useless to me. . It’s out of principle and what’s ethical. at this point. I have never been so off put and left with such a horrible taste in my mouth by a company. I will never, and I repeat never in my life give them a dime of my hard-earned money.

I’m shocked to read so much negativity, especially since our experience is 100% positive. B3 is by far one of our favourite places to shop. The workers are well trained and seem to value our business. When they don’t have in Stock what we’d like, they’re quick to order it for us. The customer service at my local store, Munsey Park location, is phenomenal. We’re in there so often that we know a few sales associates by name. Treavor, Frank, Leon and Beth are true assets to your company. We genuinely appreciate their eagerness to help and their vast product knowledge.

Bed Bath & Beyond has the worst mail order operation of any company I have ever done business with. Their web site does not work properly, their phone reps cannot record an order correctly, their fulfillment department cannot manage to send the item you actually ordered. The customer service representatives are useless in the return process. I will never make the mistake of doing business with them again. Worst experience of my life.
Former Employee says
This is a terrible company to work for. They treat you like you are just a number and everyone at the store where I work at are rude to customers on a daily basis. If you are working and take 2 seconds to even speak to another employee just to be friendly someone will be on you to call you out and make sure that every second of the day you are working and not enjoying anything. They want you to work as a team yet scold you if you speak briefly to another employee during your shift. Corporate seems very disorganized. My checks were often incorrect and I never got my W2. They don’t seem to place any value on their employees at all but they expect you to be a work horse. There is also a lot of waste at the store with no recycling program for trash and the wasteful use of plastic bags at check out. My experience with them was horrible. I can see why customers complain all the time.

At the time in which I wrote the post yesterday I have had 3 overdraft notices and that number has now been increased to 5 at $36 a pop with a negative account balance. So far I am out $566.99 not including the number of hours I have spent disputing this.
I really hope this gets resolved because as we are now at the 24 days of the Company holding my money and it is created a significant burden
You guys are even worse then Comcast. never again

The Store manager from Vernon Hills Illinois 60061 while she may appear very friendly at first is not. She lacks the people skills necessary to manage people. She gets emotional when she is upset at how fast someone works and although wanting the employees to be efficient is important. It’s also important to remotes ones emotion and focus on prvoiding additionalcoaching and training if the employee is not working as fast as she hoped. Instead of screaming and making her employees feel like the worst thing that exists. IRINA is her name.

In regards to your customer service . I have received 7 straight text messages in past months saying my 20% coupon was available. Each time I tried to order there was no coupon and I have always been told to call. Each time I call it takes 20 minutes at least. This time I emailed customer service and was told to follow instructions. I told them I always follow instructions because I made it out of kindergarten. I was then told not to offend them. I am not offending them but feel offended myself. All they have to do is fix the problem after 7 emails advising them of problem and guit playing I am better than the customer. This has really turned me off bed bath and beyond. Thank Don

I just wanted to send correspondence to let you know that one of your managers, Robbie, was so helpful, knowledgeable, and able to help me with a couple of orders beyond any expectations I had! He is located at your store at Timberlin Village – 8801-1 Southside Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32256. His extraordinary customer service not only prevented me from ordering my items from Amazon.com, but ensured lifelong customers from my husband and I. We have two homes – Colorado and Florida – and we will be using Bed Bath & Beyond for our household needs. Please find a way to give Robbie some sort of recognition for helping me, as service like his is rare in this day and age, and normally managers receive far more problems than praise. THANK YOU!
P.S. I am purchasing three more items directly from your store this week, knowing that Robbie has represented the company as loyal, service oriented, and great integrity!

However, Marcia Green Director of Customer Service is STILL sending us harassing emails, demanding payment. Take care of this problem or we will!!! Trust me, you will not like the solution we choose.

To whom this may concern:
I sent a e-mail to customer service but after reading these it sounds like they won’t respond back. This is what I sent them.
I worked at #463 from 6/5-7/5/15. During that time I worked very hard on learning everything. I had never worked in retail but felt I was learning fast and was what I thought and my coworkers I was doing well. On the other hand the managers I won’t say names not all but some and the customer service trainer, they made it miserable for the employees and are very negative. I did express my concern to one manager and that was as far as it went, the store manager never approached me nor called me. I was given my separation papers like it was normal after I told them this job isn’t for me. I don’t see how they are in the position they are in. I feel bad for the employees most are students and need the job, they have expressed how miserable they are. I myself didn’t need to stay so I wasn’t going to tolerate it. If you look at the turn around rate it’s a revolving door and they don’t care, that is reason why, management.
They’re a couple of reason’s I’m emailing you.
1- I haven’t received my final check and I don’t feel I need to go and find out where it is from the store, I marked on the separation papers to mail it to me.
2- I do feel though this store should be looked at how it is ran by management. I was excited to be working for Bed Bath&Beyond it seemed like a good and happy place to work for but behind the scenes not so much. I hope my email doesn’t get over looked.
Thank you

Promised me it would go out today, Monday May 18, 2015. It was a gift for one of my work colleagues. How embarassing and they even had me call her to let her know I would get a tracking number today, 05.18.15, as it would go out first thing via Express. Said it was all ready to go out Friday but it was to late to have it picked up so it would be picked up first thing on Monday morning. Left hand does not know what right hand is doing. Order# is CCC1514441. GET THIS ORDER OUT VIA EXPRESS today. You have embarassed me once already. Now you should overnight it. Bad customer service. I have the emails with these commitments too if anyone in corporate is interested.

Returned an item via mail because it was missing parts. Item was received over a month ago by them and no one can tell me why I haven’t received a refund yet. They are also telling me they don’t refund PayPal accounts, that I have to get a merchandise credit. The website clearly states they will refund your PayPal account when you return the item via mail. I’m disgusted with customer service from this place and will not shop here again if someone doesn’t fix this. I’ve had to email 10 times because they don’t get back to me after telling me they will “check on my return”. Very frustrated right now, as they owe me over $200.

Yesterday, March 17, 2015, I went to store # 146, where I have happily shopped for the last 15 years, to return an item, and purchase another. I have never had anything but great shopping experience at this store, until yesterday. I, along with all the other customers were treated very poorly , and I feel this needs to be addressed. When I walked in to get in line, I noticed the line was not moving, and asked one of the 2 Customer Service desk cashiers if they could get someone else to help out?, at which time, all the other customers thanked me. His response was, “There is no one else to help out”. So we all stood there waiting, when another customer asked for the manager, finally this guy named Larry came around and said they had 4 people call out, that was the only thing he said, as he walked away to help a customer in Gift registry, and we continued to wait. There was no,” I am sorry for your wait,” or, any sign what so ever that anyone in that store cared if we all were left waiting till the end of the world!. The 2 cashiers each had customers that took them each 20 minutes to wait on. We watched one customer pay in what had to be at least 100 pennies. She counted them out, and when she left, the cashier then had to recount them! We were all laughing at the ridiculousness of it all at this point! I felt as though I was on Candid Camera, or being Punk’d ! Anyway 25-30 minutes after getting in the line, I was finally up to make my return! I asked the cashier, “Doesn’t it bother you to make people wait this long?”, She said . ” I don’t let it ruin my day” The other purchase I wanted to make would have to wait for another time, because the line for purchases was so long, and I couldn’t take another minute in this store. I realize things happen, but when you get an apology, see people are doing their best, no worries. We were given no apologies, no sign that anyone in that store cared at all if we stood there till the end of time! I hope my taking time to complain does some good !

I went to bed and bath and beyond with my mother to shop for my daughters birthday and get a few things for her new home. I went over the new return policy with the associate. I knew that my daughter might be returning the items for different colors. When we got done I wrapped the receipts with gifts. My gifts were purchased with a credit card and my mom’s a check. When I daughter to exchange them with the receipts in hand, the associate quickly put both back on my credit card and then she was left with nothing back. The manager said sorry there is nothing I can do for you, we can’t back out of a final refund. Ask your mom for the credit card and we can sell them back to you and give you a store credit. Such poor customer service. They had no business putting my mom’s refund on my credit card and how is that possible. I have the store manager name as she was person helping her. Neither I nor my daughter will be back into that store.

To accommodate you, they could have immediately repurchased the items and then returned them again refunding the way you wanted the refund. There is no way you should have amounts refunded to your credit card if they were never charged to your credit card. I am so sorry.

Had a receipt for what I wanted to exchange for the same thing in different color. Still insisted they have my Drivers License and made me return it on my credit card before I could get other sheets. I complained to manager and he told her it was alright but still asked my first name . It seems she had already put all my personal information in your computer. You now have my credit card numbers and my personal info. It seems to me very dangerous way to do business with your company plus being treated as tho I was a thief . I also had a door cover and a set of two rods which I wanted to return without a receipt It really got crazy then and they had to have all info on me for that. The total came to around $6.00. I would have just thrown them away for how I was treated over the total return. I got in my car and cried for about thirty minutes. Over100 single panel curtains and many rods are in my home.that came from your store. All the Bedspreads and accessories for two rooms came from your store. All bathroom accessories for two baths came from your store., NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP INTO YOUr STORE! If my personal information is ever comprimosed, your company will be the first one that comes to my mind !

To whom it may concern,
I am very upset about the store in Mississauga. I worked there for 2 months, almost 3, and was hired along with 3 other people. All 4 of us got let go at the same time. Now, first off, if you’re going to hire students and let them go before the 3 month mark on purpose, at least let us know. That is incredibly unprofessional. Second, the day i got let go, they promised me they would pay me for 3 hours on top of my vacation pay. I had to wait a month and a half for that cheque and once i got it, i was only paid my vacation pay. Also, they refused to give me a job related reference. Also, they lied to me and the 3 other people as to why we were being let go. So clearly, this store uses students and lies to them about their pay. I got under-paid, horribly treated, and i was not happy with everything. I would like to receive my full payment as i was promised. Never working for another one of your stores and none of my family is shopping there again. So unprofessional.

I DID ADVISE THE MGR WHO WAS SO CONCERNED AND HE DID REMOVE HER FROM THE REGISTER (MAYBE THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS???) EVERYONE WHO WAS ON THE LINE BEHIND ME MOVED TO OTHER LINES WHEN THEY SAW HER RUDE ATTITUDE. WHEN I GOT HOME LATER IN THE EVENING I UNPACKED MY BAGS AND NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE ITEMS WAS NOT IN THE BAG…I GUESS SHE GOT ME.. This is the letter I sent to Bed, Bath and Beyond customer service via email. I doubt I will even receive a response as when I called to complain, the customer service rep I spoke to could not care less. However, I feel compelled to share:
Last Tuesday 6/24, I was shopping at your Dublin, CA store with my family, including my 9 year old son with autism spectrum disorder. For some unknown reason, my child became very upset at the check-out line and ended up having a meltdown. He was crying very loudly, screaming and repeatedly threw his body on the ground. At that point, my husband immediately took him outside the store as to not disturb any customers shopping and to give him some quiet time to try to calm down while I stayed to pay for our items. Since the store was not busy at the time, 3 of your employees (whom I suppose had nothing better to do) decided to line up by the window and stare at him like he was an animal at the zoo or circus.
I had pretty much put the incident out of my mind because my son seemed to be having an “off” day last Tuesday. This morning 7/1, I returned to the same store (with my 2 children) to return an item and make another purchase. The lady at the service desk looks at my son with obvious disgust and says “Oh, I remember you. He had that horrible tantrum last week and your husband had to take him out.” I responded “My son has autism and he cannot always help the way he is.” She did not apologize or act towards us in a friendly manner but was instead silent and cold. I have been shopping at this particular Dublin, CA store for over 9 years and our family has been a loyal Bed Bath & Beyond customer for even longer. I am shocked and extremely saddened by my recent experiences in your store. I left today feeling upset and do not plan on ever shopping here again. It is a real shame because I genuinely love your store, generous return policies and all the innovative products you carry.
I am writing this letter in hopes that Bed Bath & Beyond will provide better education, awareness and training to your staff members in the near future. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the U.S. Currently, 1 in 68 children are affected by autism and studies show autism prevalence figures are growing, meaning that at some point in time, someone with autism will likely be inside one of your stores. I wish your employees will be compassionate, kind or least well-mannered (no negative comments or stares please) towards these individuals. What I experienced is a horrible feeling and I would hate for this to happen to another autism or special needs family. It is hard enough raising children with special needs in this world but to encounter such ignorance while doing something common like shopping. Furthermore, I have shared my experiences at Bed Bath & Beyond with several other parents with special needs kids in my town and they are appalled and outraged to hear my story. I am hoping that with more Autism awareness and consideration, everyone can feel welcome to shop in your stores.

I am surprise at the negative comments about Bed Bath and Beyond. I have had nothing, but good experience with the store on Park Lane in Dallas, Texas. Most of the help, go out of their way to help you find the item to buy. If sometime doesn’t work, Bed Bath and Beyond always takes the merchandise back, and gladly gives you a refund. Because of the good service, I am trying to do most of my shopping with them.

I am seriously disappointed in Bed Bath and Beyond. For Teacher Appreciation Week we purchased 275 $5 gift cards for our teachers and faculty. We usually have an ongoing relationship with another big store in the area…but decided to try something different and support a new local business. From the start the experience was negative. The gift cards were not ready when promised, incorrect information was give to us, and we literally had to beg for sleeves to give the gift card in. After all of that, many of the teachers went to use their cards and were told that they were inactive. They were essentially turned away. When I heard this I went back to the store again and explained the situation to the manager. The only thing he offered to do was for us to tell our faculty to find a manager before checking out. I am highly disappointed in Bed Bath and Beyond. I am likely never going to go back and purchase bulk gift cards for our teachers again. I feel like our $1500 purchase was not important to your company at all. It’s a shame, because it was meant to be such a positive experience.

Now, it’s 12 days later, and I still haven’t received the 2nd sham. I called Customer Service this morning to follow up on the delivery. After a few moments, the representative located the 2nd order and it showed the order cancelled because the requested sham is apparently out of stock.
First, apparently, no one was ever going to notify me that the item that I’d ordered was no longer in stock. If I hadn’t called twice to inquire, I would have had no idea.
Second, I had to request to have a refund for the item that you never sent me and is now out of stock. This is unacceptable. Upon seeing that the item was out of stock (when the order shipped), I should have been notified (instead of saying it shipped) and a refund should have been issued automatically.
Third, when I was speaking with the rep this morning, I inquired if there were maybe another size sham available in the requested color (king size or euro sham). She clearly couldn’t be bothered to check this as she replied that she’d have to look on the website and I could do that myself. Horrible customer service. She then also told me, after I requested the refund (wasn’t offered to me) that refunds are only processed once per week on Fridays so it would be a while before it showed on my statement. This is ridiculous!
As it is, I’ve already washed the bed skirt and other sham and have been using them awaiting the 2nd sham. My bedding won’t have the look I wanted. But I’m really more upset about the way this order was handled from start to finish. I’d suggest you give your ordering and customer service a closer look and make some adjustments.
You’ve certainly lost a customer here and I’ll be sure to spread the word.

Your online purchasing process is a nightmare and a completely dishonest way to run your business!
I ordered $154 of merchandise. You charged $154 to my account at the time of purchase. Now, 3 days later there is an additional $127 being “held” on top of the total purchase price of $154 held at the time of purchase.
I called to ask why I was having nearly $300 dollars held from my account and was told “That’s just how our system works. We charge the full amount at time of purchase and the funds are held. When your items ship we charge the amount of the outgoing shipment. Once the full amount ships we will release the initial $154 being held”
WHAT???? Besides being absolutely ridiculous practice to hold additional money when you’ve already held the FULL AMOUNT at the time of purchase, the explanation given does not explain what is actually going on.
My order was split into 2 shipments. As of this moment only $24 of merchandise has actually gone out, per the tracking info…. so why was $127 put on hold for this shipment containing $24 of merchandise if you charge for the items as they are shipped?? And what of the remaining items? You’re going to charge another $127 again when the other items are finally shipped?? So if the items awaiting shipment are on back order you’re just going to keep charging arbitrary amounts while also holding the original $154 hostage until you can fulfill the entire order?
YOU PLACED A HOLD ON THE FULL PURCHASE AMOUNT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE!! WHY ARE YOU PLACING A HOLD ON EVEN MORE FUNDS AS ITEMS ARE BEING SHIPPED???
Currently you’re holding $281 for a $154 order!! I do not have access to the money you are holding while you are holding it. Regardless of the fact that you end up collecting only the original amount, from the time of purchase until you finally get around to shipping everything on the order you are stealing my money! I do not owe you $281, I owe you $154…which you’ve already received authorization and a hold for! What the hell gives you the right to place a hold on additional funds available in my checking account over and above what I owe you??
MY ENTIRE ORDER WILL BE RETURNED (IF IT EVER ARRIVES!) AND I WILL NEVER BUY A SINGLE THING FROM YOUR COMPANY AGAIN!

Watch Your Debit Card charges and Credit Card Charges for DOUBLE CHARGES !
Sometimes a new employee not sure how to work the cash register will DOUBLE CHARGE your account for same purchase. Watch closely.
We will see if Corporate will correct the errors…..
BBB employee says
This is not possible with the POS system registers. Once the items have all been scanned, the cashier will press TOTAL and tell you the balance due. Once the payment gets transmitted, the receipt prints out. After that, the transaction is over. To be charged twice, the cashier would have to start the whole process over from the beginning and physically scan all your items again. (Which should ONLY be done if you were making two identical seperate purchases) even still, it would be a completely different transaction with a different RVN number. (The barcode at the bottom of every receipt).

Maybe she treat you better if you knew how to spell correctly, since you come off as pretty incompetent from your note above.
zsuzsa says
People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, Mike. If you’re going to rag on someone’s command of the English language, your own had better be above reproach, which it is not. In addition, you come off sounding like an insufferable jerk. I found Connie’s comment to be genuine and heartfelt, qualities that shone through in spite of her small difficulties with spelling. I hope her comment is read and taken to heart by someone with the power to ameliorate her situation. We’ve all had to suffer with a “Brenda” in our lives (in fact, Mike, I’d bet cash money that you’re a Brenda yourself!); I wish Connie luck in dealing with hers.
Not Mike says
This is what Mike meant to type: Maybe she would of treated you better if you knew how to use correct grammar. By the looks of your note above, it seems as if you are incompetent. Mike is a doosh…Dont pay any mind to him.
Cynthia says
Dear Not Mike,
Before you criticize someone’s grammar be careful. The following is the proper grammar: Maybe she would (HAVE) treated you better. The preposition (of) is incorrect. No reason to call anyone names and be disrespectful, everyone makes mistakes.

This company does not care about families. The managers work 10 plus hours a day. When closing shift @ 11pm then scheduled to work next day @ 7am. it is BEYOND human decency. This company burns you out with the long hours and back to back close and open days. Terrible company to work for. Huge turn over of store managers. It makes you sick. Then they rush you for a 30 minute lunch break. This company made my son ill with stress of long hours lack of sleep not eating well and no time with his family.

Listen dimwit, it was shipped FedEx. Pretty pathetic when your poor unsuspecting customer has to tell YOU who it was shipped with. I’ll tell you what. I used to spend a lot of money in that XXXXXhole of a store but no more. I don’t even want to go in there and expose myself to second hand stupidity. I could be contagious. You sales person out and out lied to me and said I would receive the “gift” for my wife by Christmas. Just out of curiosity, is English your first language

My daughter applied at the BBBY store in Racine, WI. When she called the store today to check on her application she was told by Brad that the have already found the people they needed for the positions. When I came home from work my daughter told me what happened. I called the store and Brad told me he was still taking application for part-time work I could come in and fill out an application and if time permits speak to a manager.
I live 3 blocks from this store I went to the store to discuss with Brad what he said to me and the tone of his voice to my daughter today. As he stated the applications he received he selected applicants from that pool. He’s still interviewing. I explained to him my daughter has experience in cashiering, and stocking. He was not interested. I said that this looks like it might have racial overtones involved.
The job description states “will train” BBBY hire 16 years old and older. How would a 16 year old get experience in cashiering where in Racine the most of the stores require you to be 18 or older?
I’ve shopped at this BBBY for years and cannot recall seeing any Black or minority in a position if so did not last long there. Well I can tell you this-no I can better show you than tell you. Maybe this store needs to be boycotted by Blacks—were not good enough to work there-then we are not good enough to spend our money.
I think Brad needs training on Racial Diversity.
Thank you.
Here We Go says
Sounds to me like your looking for a “pitty party”. Every time time you don’t get what you want, you cry “racial discrimination”. If a person tells you, “The line starts here, get in back of me”, They are racist. If a clerk tells you, “we are out of coacoa puffs”, he is racist. Get over it.
Fefe says
Your an ASS and if you were Black you would understand that only time has passed….Slavery for Blacks is still in place. The struggle for equality is still alive each and every day. There is no “PITY PARTY” as you say. And what the hell is the Cocoa Puff reference…..that is clearly a RACIAL STATEMENT.
Finally…..learn how to spell. Coacoa is not a word.

I have been shopping at the Sawgrass Mills store since it opened as I live in Weston about 10 minutes from the store. I was at the store today 7/8 and needed to leave and not finish shopping as the temperature was extremely uncomfortable and I needed to leave. I have a medical condition and the absolute worse thing for my condition is to be hot. Please make an adjustment to this situation so I can continue to be a valued shopper.
Thanking you in advance,

I ordered a kitchen island and paid almost $300.00 for it. It arrived today by FedEx. They dumped it off on the sidewalk going up to my front door. The box was broken open. The shelves, etc are scratched, paint is off the edges of the shelves, and there are gouges in the pieces. I do not want this and someone needs to pick it up out of my front yard.
I am contacting my credit card company to get the charges taken off. I wouldn’t want this thing even if it was free. I am remodeling my kitchen and I want something that is new. This looks like it was well used and not carefully prior to it be dumped off in my yard. I think I could go to Goodwill and get something that looks as good as this does.
