The Timken Company is a manufacturer of bearings, which are machine elements that constrain motion and reduce friction between moving parts.

The company was founded by Henry Timken in 1899 in St. Louis as The Timken Roller Bearing Axle Company. In 1898 Henry Timken was granted a patent for tapered roller bearing, which were revolutionary at the time because they reduced friction and therefore did not fail as frequently as the previously used “friction bearings.”

In addition to bearings, The Timken Company produces power transmission components, lubricants, seals, and motion control systems.

Customers include makers of race cars, heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, heavy-duty industrial vehicles, railways and locomotives, and the military.

Timken Company is traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TKR, is a member of the S&P 400, is #568 in the Fortune 500, has 17,000 employees, and had $4.37 billion in revenue in 2013.

I applied at Timken Dives in Fulton, IL. on 12-20-2016 and called a few days later for a status update on my application and I was told I needed to go through a Temporary Job Placement Service Called Temp Associates, so I maid an appointment with Temp Associates and did a interview and back ground check everything came back fine and Temp Associates said they would call if anything came up. Well didn’t hear anything from Temp Associates for awhile, so I trolled through there job offers and saw a job for Timken Drives in Fulton, IL. and I went to apply and i couldn’t, my computer would not let me apply, because I think I may have a Virus on it and it wasn’t like I could call anybody it was 2;00 am, so anyway I applied directly to the Timken website on 2-27-2017 got a call from Joni to do a interview, went to Timken Drives in Fulton, IL., did the interview came back a few days later to do the physical and hearing test and got that all done and went home to hear from Timken Drives later. well here is the kicker on 3-9-2017 I get a call from Temp Assocites wanting to put my name in at Timken Drives and what was the lowest pay I would accept? I told them, Well later that day I get a call from Temp Associates saying they sent my info to Timken Drives and Timken Drives told them I had already applied and interviewed and I said yes I couldn’t get through on their website, because of a possible Virus on my computer so I applied directly. Temp Associates said ok. It looks like you have a real good chance at getting the job good luck to you. Then I get a call 2 and a half hours later from Joni from Timken Drives saying they can’t hire me direct because since I had a account with Temp Associates I have to go through them and that it would not be good business ethics to hire me and I not go through Temp Associates since Timken Drives has a contract with Temp Associates. Then 4 hours later Temp Associates calls me and chews on me for awhile and asks me if I still want to apply for the job and I said I need to think about it I am pretty Irritated right now and I need to calm down so I don’t make a foolish decision and Jane Brown at Temp Associates whom I have been dealing with this whole time said ok. The next day I get a call from Temp Associates at 8:10 A.M. Telling me Timken Drives has withdrawn their offer of employment. I jump through all these hoops and get within one step of getting hired and the door gets slammed in my face, just a little up set. Speaking of Business ethics why was I told I had to go through a hiring agency the first time then I go through Timken Drives the second time and almost get hired then basically get fired. Why is Timken Drives offering jobs on there website and hire when they have a contract with Temp Associates? There is that word again ‘Business Ethics’ how can they do this? They went around Temp Associates while they have a contract with them and got caught and I paid the price. pretty shady! I worked at Allied Lock Ind. for 5 years a competitor of Tinken Drives. There is nothing more that would give me great pleasure than to berry Allied Lock Ind. It really Irks me that I lost a job opportunity and possible a great career. I am sad to say I will be calling The Better Business Bureau.
