Waste Management was founded in 1968 by Wayne Huizenga, Dean Buntrock, and Larry Beck. The founders immediately began acquiring smaller garbage collection companies throughout the United States.
By 1972 the company had acquired 133 smaller companies and had $82 million in revenue.
In 1993 Waste Management, Inc. became WMX Technologies, Inc. This change reflected the company’s diversification to services other than waste removal, recycling, and disposal.
In 1998 the company merged with USA Waste Services, with the new company retaining the Waste Management brand.
Today Waste Management’s network includes 367 collection operations, 255 transfer stations, 273 active landfill disposal sites, 16 waste-to-energy sites, 134 recycling plants, 111 beneficial-use landfill gas projects, and 6 independent power production plants.
The company offers its services to 27 million industrial, commercial, municipal, and residential customers in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Waste Management trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WM, is a member of the S&P 500, is #207 in the Fortune 500, has 42,700 employees, and $14.04 billion in revenue in 2013.

In the holiday I checked your web site for a pickup day. It said one day late. My garbage and recycling was not picked up. I called the local provider and they said they did not follow the posted schedule. I want my garbage and recycling picked up now.because of thanksgiving they are both full. They told me to wait till next week or pay 12 dollars. Pick it up or I will talk to the press about how big business doesn’t care about the poor and only care about the wealth. Please respond asap

Very disappointed and frankly is looking to terminate my service with Waste Management due to a declining customer service.
Waste Management missed to pick up my recycling Tote on July 5th 2019. I made sure the tote was at the specified spot on evening of July 4th.
When I returned from my trip I found out that the tote was not picked up. I called WM on July 12th, 2019 and after an apology from the WM Agent I was assured that a truck will come over to pick up the tote either late on July 12 th or on July 13. Nothing happened.
I called again WM Client Service on July 15th, but was disappointed by the explanation I was given. First I was told that the information I was given about the special pick up was wrong and someone from WM was supposed to reach out to me to inform of that. No one reached out to me. I was told that Friday July 19th is the next pick up day and that I should have to wait. Enough is enough. I do not miss a payment and I expect quality service and care from WM. This is summer time with kids in the house and lots of recycling material I cannot deal with this . This is disappointing and frankly not the right way to treat a longtime customer.
