In April of 2018, the company announced cutbacks and layoffs as part of a restructuring plan to save the company $15 million in operating costs. The company declined to state how many people would receive pink slips, however, they did say that the company planned to increase wages for store employees.
Company headquarters are located in Dalton, Texas. The company also operates 168 franchised locations under the Armstrong McCall name.

I purchased a set of clippers at the store for $164, 8-10-21 got home with the box and opened it and there were no clippers in the box. I went to the store the next day,8-11-21 and was told that they’d have to review the cameras and they would get back to me. I didn’t hear anything for two days so I called the store again, 8-14-21 and was told they hadn’t had time to view the cameras and they will ASAP. I called the customer service department and filed a complaint, they said it was up to the store manager to make it right. I called on 8-16-21 and was told that the district manager had to view the cameras and that they were having a manager meeting and would resolve the issue and get back to me. 8-17-21 I called the store and was told that the district manager is busy putting together a store and that watching the cameras isn’t on the top of his to do list!! I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB. This needs to be resolved because my husband works to hard for his money to spend $164 on a empty box. The store number is 1354. Transaction 38720.

1. I made an in-store purchase of hair clippers on June 18, 2021. (Andis Master, Price: $143.09)
2. It was the wrong item so I returned to the store the next day to exchange them for the right clippers only to be informed they did not have the right clippers, could only get the correct clippers via on-line purchase, and helped with the utilization of my phone to do so. (Andis Master Cordless, Order Date: June 19, 2021, Price and Payment Method $271.74 to VISA)
3. Then I was told not to worry about returning the in-store, “you have 60 days to return them, just don’t open or use them.”
4. Yesterday (6-23-21) the on-line purchase arrived.
5. Today (6-24-21) I returned to the store for a refund only to be told there is no return on hair clippers.
6. Further, that there is also no return on the clippers I purchased via on-line. Before being handed a piece of paper with a customer service telephone number on it.
7. Upon calling customer service those representatives only affirmed all the above, but further, despite my not opening either box, said they would not accept a return of the on-line purchase coupled with an exchange of the in-store purchase, and would only allow a store credit of approximately $415.
8. Accordingly, this is to request a refund for both items, alternatively solely for the in-store purchase ($143.09), and to request a reply in 3-5 business days.
Respectfully,
E. H. M.

You have completely lost my business since you stopped carrying bags in your stores. I refuse to pay $0.15 for fancy bag with a handle which I do not need. I will purchase my hair color on amazon.com from now on. Your company has just lost a 30-year customer!

DO NOT USE SALLY’S, worst customer service this was my first online order with Sally and it will be my last. Never received my order. I have been calling your customer service line for several days, it takes 1-2 hours to talk to someone. Still NO Refund after a month.

This was my first online order with Sally and it will be my last. When the order was supposed to be delivered, UPS tracking system said that it had been refused, which was a lie (we’re on lockdown). I have been calling your customer service line for several days and unable to get through. After you choose the option for your online help it disconnects the call every time. I have emailed customer service 3 times and I have yet to get a response. The package was finally delivered to my daughter today and it had been opened and re-sealed with the same packing tape that no longer stuck . It had damaged and refused written on the box. There was never a delivery attempt besides the actual day that it was delivered (today). There were 7 items ordered and my daughter only received 6 of the 7 items. Its bad enough with the delivery issue but to have horrible customer service on top of it. I will never EVER order product from your company again.

I’m having the same issue!!!! Never again!!!

I have reported Sally Beauty in Baytown Tx on #notme. I am a regular customer and frequent the store. There is only one sales associate who can assist me with products for African American hair. I witnessed an employee being harassed and mistreated on several occasions and it makes me sick! Today however, I witnessed a fellow employee of hers bump into her intentionally and hard. Stiff shoulder her if you will. It took everything in me to not say something to her. Physical harm is NEVER acceptable in any workplace and I will let everyone I know aware of this. Every social platform will get this too. I have been in this store when there are 10 or more others shopping and 1 sales associate to be seen. Just so happens to be this bullied young lady I’m sick and tired of witnessing being mistreated by EVERY one of her fellow coworkers. I have knocked on the door to the backroom. To get the others attention for assistance and I have heard them laughing and making comments about her race and body and I am disgusted. I have recorded the conversation and will make sure everyone who cares to hear it can do just that. Sally’s corporate, you should investigate this store and the abusive workplace. After what I saw today, my personal and salon business will not purchase so much as a rat tail comb from this store ever again!

Sally Beauty Company #729, located on 44580 Valley Central in Lancaster, California refused to accept my return without a receipt. I bought a blow dryer from another Sally’s. After going to the gym on Friday, October 5th, and washing my hair, I realized the blow dryer didn’t work. I headed to Sally’s with wet hair, because the blow dryer didn’t work. I tried to get an in store credit, at the nearest Sally’s, because I didn’t have my receipt. I was told that I must go back to the Sally’s that I bought the blow dryer from and they will only give me a store credit, if they remember me. Immediately, I thought this is not right. I feel like the two employees at this location refused to help me because of my appearance. Their incompetence could have created an unnecessary conflict as I could have demanded an in store credit. I chose to humbly avoid conflict and drive 30 miles to the Sally’s where I initially purchased the blow dryer. So the very next day, after church, on October 6th, I went to the Palmdale Sally’s #2083 where I received the most wonderful and professional service. I do not understand why I didn’t receive the same treatment and service at the 44580 Valley Central location. I feel like this store owes me an apology, in writing, for not helping me and not following your procedures below that are quoted from the sallybeauty.com website.

I work for Sally’s Beauty in Jacksonvill Fl. I went to work yesterday and was counting my drawer when the manager said to me ;( you’re doing good so far , but you need to stop saying you’re a cosmetologist or hairstylist ! Just help them. And stop talking soo loud. ) I’m profoundly hard of hearing . I have hearing aids . other employees said you don’t yell. As far as telling them I’m a stylist…it helps comfort them so they listen to you better. I’m about to quit instead of helping folks out with color.

I was an employee for sally’s for about a year. I was always dedicated to my work, never called in, came when my team mates needed me, and loved my customers. Unfortunately I felt the best action for myself was to venture off to a new career, as one does I put in my two weeks which turned into a month. My last day was at the end of March an I had never received my last paycheck. I’ve called payroll three times and have left a voice mail on how to contact me as well as my employee information. I don’t see how a company had a month heads up of my last day and couldn’t prepare to send out that check out in a timely manner. I’m very upset because I use to love and stand up for this company and my store. To be treated like this is ridiculous.

I just left Sally’s very agitated with a comment the store manager, Joanna, made to me and I am still trying to process this…..I went to use a shopping cart and was told from the manager, ” I cannot let you use the cart, we may need it for supplies coming in”. ” I could use the carrying baskets up front” ..There was 2 carts sitting there empty ..Her attitude was curt and not acceptable..I was stunned and said OKay and promptly walked out of the store..I went to another Sally’s and asked the manager there and she said she never heard of such a policy to not allow a customer to use the shopping cart…..IF this is policy why did the other store not recognize it ….I called Joanna on the phone and told her that her attitude and policy was not acceptable and she handled it all very badly. She said that she was following her district manager rules and she would throw the carts out into the trash so they would not create a problem again. I am a Sally’s customer for 51 years and have never had this happen….NEVER…This manager has no right dealing with the public…I am now trying to call the 866-234-9442 customer service and cannot get through. First, I was cut off and now all I get is a busy signal. Is Sally’s going to the dogs??? I’ve owned 3 salons and given this business many dollars through the years and I cannot even get someone to speak to besides this bad manager….So sadd………..

I made a twenty dollars purchase in Sally beauty supply at . Parma town plaza. It was approximately 1pm on a Saturday. I the cashier told me she could not give me change back from a hundred dollar bill. She stated that my purchase was to low to give me change back. I was astounded by this immature inexperience sales person. This is a good reason that a lot of business go out of business. When you have a place of business and you are there to make money. Every sale makes a difference. Shame on sallys. I’m going to tell all my friends and everyone on Facebook. I worked in retail for many relays. What is this world commjjng to.
Samanta says
The answer to your complaint is very simple. Sally is a company that has decided not to have extra extra change money fund . In “normal” companies, to facilitate SM and cashiers , always have available from 150 to 200 dollars change. This problem is not about local store managers or cashiers, is about a corporate decision .

You have to understand walk in to the Sally Beauty stores you have employees make it nine dollars per hour never graduate a beauty schools. If you have this high education pay $40,000 tuition/year , you’re never gonna work on Sally Beauty stores . Normally day hairstylist work for $30/h. on the hair salon.

Pls help me understand the hiring process! Thank you

I have been a long time loyal customer of Sally’s, what I just experienced is about to change all that. I was sent a coupon FROM Sally’s stating if I renew my membership by 04/30/18 (today) I would get a FREE product up to $7.99 in price. At the register after submitting my coupon the clerk tells me they can’t accept it because the cash register programming won’t accept it because my membership is good for another two months…..WHAT! You email me this coupon but your “system won’t accept it, then why in the hell are you sending coupons out telling me to RENEW EARLY! Okay on to lie number two…I have another coupon that says if you spend $49.00 or more you get a free tote. The clerk proceeds to tell I can’t get the tote because it’s must be $49.00 before taxes. Oh really, show me on this coupon where it states that. Response..you can speak to the manager who isn’t here. Both clerks just kept stating it must be before taxes but could not say where that policy is in writing, because it DAMN SURE WASN’T ON THE COUPON! These shenanigans are beyond shady and I feel as though they have probably been doing this to many customers all along & need to be called out for it. If they don’t feel their customers are important enough to rectify this then maybe it should be investigated by the proper authorities. I will be contacting the consumer fraud agency to see if there have been similar complaints.

Not too many customers know Sally Beauty MPOS system it is from 20 years ago. How to corporate set up the promotion and sales most of this promotion code doesn’t show up in the system. For example you can use the same online coupon 10-20 times every day from you email. I never see this before and my entire life.

My daughter who was 18 at the time and just starting hair school went into your Sally store and asked a question about hair color and the unprofessional manager Bridgette ridiculed and made fun of her question and told her she was in beauty school you should know what you’re looking for. What type of people are you hiring in your store and why would they still be talking about this incident a month later. This is by far petty and unprofessional. It was at your cincinnati store on colerain Avenue near Ronald Regan express way. It really upset me that I had to call the store. Two of her classmates came back and told her how the manager was still harping over a past incident.

HE ROLLED HIS EYES AND SNICKERED AT US BECAUSE WE WERE IN HIS WAY AS HE SHOVED HIS WAY BETWEEN US. THE CASHIER THAT WAS HELPING US APOLOGIZED AND SHE DID NOT EVEN DO ANYTHING WRONG. VERY DISAPPOINTED AS I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GREAT EXPERIENCES WITH SALLY’s THROUGHT THE YEARS. HOPEFULLY THIS MAN GETS SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING SOON!! I worked at Sallys in Nashville TN for almost 2 years…the employees are over worked and underpaid..therefore it reflects in their attitude towards other coworkers or customers that walk in to make a purchase. I have worked in retail before, and am absolutely appalled that they let the store managers get away with anything and everything..leaving while on the clock, laying on the floor to sleep if tired or sick, starting unnecessary problems between other employees. I was transferred from one Sally ‘s, because a girl threatened me at least 4 times then said if I didn’t leave she would..i had been there all day I was tired and after that experience extremely upset. I needed the job to pay for my health insurance, so I transferred to another Sally’s. The girl who cursed me out and threatened me got a raise and a promotion, because there were no witnesses. I drove farther, and stayed later at the store I moved to. The store manager did the same thing at this store, and has now started problems for me and another girl that works there. What is going on with these people? Why are they not reprimanded even when reported? This is a sad and disgusting disgrace to all those that represent Sallys Beauty and are trying to do a good job. No wonder the turnover continues..it is ABSOLUTELY UNREAL. You can go in one store, and the next time you go the employees are different! Where are the people that are over these people? I will tell you. You can t find them. They are not there, and if you do find one good luck of they care.

I went to Sally on 8/5/2014 on Ryan Street in Lake Charles la It was about 6:57 to get some dye for my hair. There was a girl that open the door and told me they were closed I am not sure if it was a customer or someone that worked there. But she was blocking the entrance for me to go in. There were an employee behind the register when the lady told me they were closed. She heard the lady told me they were closed. If it was a customer am sure someone told her to say that sally was closed. The hours states on the door that store closed at 7:00p.m. . Officially the store is not closed at 6:57 because its not 7:00 yet I was upset about this matter. I used to work at retail and I know you can not closed the doors at 3mins . I am a paying customer and I believe this was handle wrong . I live way on the other side of that town . In which I burned my gas just to purchase product from Sally Beauty Supply. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble but it was not fair to me . I could have purchase at other business that sells those kind of product , But I wanted to give Sally the business. I would appreciate if someone would talk to the employees about the policy and procedures. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
