Revlon was founded in 1932 by brothers Charles and Joseph Revson and chemist Charles Lachman. The company began by developing a unique nail enamel. The company used pigments instead of dyes and was able to create a unique set of colors.
In 1937, the company began selling their enamels to department stores. Within 6 years, they were a multimillion dollar company. By 1940, they had a complete manicure line and also began to produce lipstick.
Revlon went public in 1955. The stock price tripled in 8 weeks.
During the 1960s, Revson segmented the business following the way General Motors had done it and each segment targeted a specific consumer. The company also began to sell internationally around this time.
Charles Revson died in 1975 and Michel Bergerac took charge of the company.
As the result of a hostile takeover, Revlon was sold to Pantry Pride in 1985. The Revlon corporate office is located in New York, New York.

I just find a great color #478 Tuscan Sun and now its discontinued? WHY?
Is there a website for discontinued colors that I can purchase it from? If not….what is the closet color to it you currently have? Having trouble finding one.:(
Also…..why don’t you match your lipsticks in the Pinks Reds and Oranges to MATCH your nail colors? That would be nice. 🙂
Thank You

Since the 70’s my Mom has faithfully used the ORIGINAL CHARLIE cologne. It’s a scent that wafts through our house in the morning after she applies it. CHARLIE was the perfect cologne because it was fragrant and affordable. Mom would buy it fr a local drugstore and we always knew what to get her for Mother’s Day.
Lately trying to get the ORIGINAL CHARLIE (sometimes referred to as “Classic Charley”) is near impossible. Mom has tried Charlie Blue, Charlie Red, & white. IT’S NOT THE SAME. I found one company on Amazon selling it, but it’s over $45!
Revlon need to bring back the ORIGINAL CHARLIE and make it available at an affordable price.
Please help me to make my Mom very happy!
Thank you!

I bought the Revlon Colorstay Overtime which replaced you Revlon Colorstay. The current lipstick is very expensive (which is ok) IF ithe tube would last longer like the previous product. I’ll buy another brand. I don’t mind spending more money for good lipstick but I’d like it not to dry up and run out in such a short time. I’d rather have more lipstick and eliminate the glossy end. If I want that look I’ll buy a separate tube of gloss.

For years I have used Revlon lipsticks in the green cases and loved them. I guess they were “old lady” colors as I can no longer find them in the stores. I am picking out the last remaining bits of #575 and #702. I can’t remember the number of the Hot Coral, I believe, as I threw out the old tube when exhausted.
Where do you have your “old stock” store so I can replenish my favorite pinks, corals and orange shades? I am 84 years young and I really don’t look too sexy in Purple Passion or Black Midnight shades. HELP!!!!

PLEASE bring back The Revlon WET/DRY EYE PENCIL!
It is the best that I have ever found! (And I have tried them all – Lorac, Estée Lauder, Laura Mercer, Stila, MAC – You get the picture!) Bring it back with the same formula, point and size, but put it in a fancy package, charge $18,99 in line with lthe high end companies! You will sell millions! Right now, the left overs are selling for $59.99 on Ebay! Come on – make a good business decision!

So, does Revlon take diversity and community engagement seriously. If so, here are a few key opportunities for partnerships here in NC. Look forward to your response even if I have made this suggestion more than once.

I would appreciate an opportunity to talk with the appropriate “C Suite” Level person about supplier diversity and community engagement, especially of the Revlon Manufacturing facility here in Oxford, NC, as well as throughout the corporation overall.

Dear Revlon.I have been using Jontue body spray for more then 12 yrs.
Its been a struggling to my get this product and I sometimes buy in stock as this is the only body Spray I been using. Last month I bought 2 two and both of them are not spraying.
Its like water running down the container AND my hands are soaking wet without any spray on my clothes.
This is disappointing as its means I will have to purchase again this month.
Please advice as I bought at Checkers in Parow, Western Cape.

72 is the ONLY hair dye that I have used for over 12 years. There is no colorist or dye out there that is the same shade that looks as good with my tone. This has been my signature color for years. It is something that makes me feel like me. Not to mention, strawberry blond is a very trending color right now. Why at the height of celebrities and movies showing strawberry blond vixens, would you discontinue the color? I am very upset and you should see there is a demand by the rising prices of the few boxes that are left to be bid on, over 100 dollars a box! Please, bring it back.

PLEASE give me back my color. 72 strawberry blonde is the only color I use. I have tried as others have to get a color that works as well without any luck. Your customers are begging you, and as a company I believe you should give your customers what they are asking for.

I am in complete agreement with the others pleading for the return of Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde/ 72! It’s the best color available. I prefer this color to any other color available, even salons can’t seem to match the not-too-blonde-not-too-red shade that I have gotten from your product. Please, for the natural redheads who want to freshen up their color without completely changing it, bring back 72!!

Why won’t Revlon give us an answer as to why they discontinued Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde #72? There are obviously a lot of customers that are not happy about this decision. I think we at least deserve an explanation!

Please bring back revlon color silk 72 strawberry blonde. There is simply no others that compare. I have resorted to buying this off EBAY for $50 a box and forsee paying as much as $100. Actually am considering creating my own version with an entrepreneur and NYC beautician … Also have a friend that, knows Amy Adams. Revlon marketers should be fired for dropping this unique color…..!

If you come up with a color please let me know! I just used my last box. I found 13 boxes at Big Lots and have used them up. My hair is thick and long so it takes 2 boxes for each color. I am a very unhappy girl!
Chris Kirik says
I am still anxiously awaiting a response as to why you have discontinued Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde #72. It has been over a week now. Please don’t inform me it is a trend. Most people want to color their hair a natural hue not with a trendy color. I am a traditional 48 year old woman that wants my real color back not something faux.
Chris Kirik says
I am extremely disappointed that Revlon has discontinued Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde #72. This was the closest color to my natural hair color that I have ever found. The finest salons in my area could not match my hue like #72. What were you thinking when you made this decision? As you can see from the many comments I am not the only unhappy consumer. I truly hope you will bring this color back in the name of all the natural looking redheads out there!! Please don’t disappoint us. I would appreciate a response as well. As I would like to remain a valued customer.

Please bring back strawberry blond colorsilk. I started dyeing my hair at the age of 15 because I was going premature grey. This is the only due that ever came close to my real color. Now I’m 44 and still not ready to go grey. All the other reds and suburbs on the market are too artificial cherry to work on me, I tried going brown, but with my pale Irish skin I resembled a vampire and had to pile on the make up. Currently I’m using blond, but it really isn’t me. ;-(

Can you tell me if you have any left over stock that is not like these people trying to make a killing off of one eyebrow pencil asking 30 dollars for one. I live on a fixed income and would really like to purchase more of this product. God Bless You. Linda

I am a natural strawberry blonde. Red is too red, blond to blond. I have used Revlon colorsilk for years. I can’t change my real color due to”color trends”, so now what do I do??? Revlon was the only company that had anything close to my real color. Perhaps those of us from Danish/Nordic descent with with not red not blond hair will have to forget our heritage and become brunette. What a joke. Guess I will not use any Revlon cosmetics anymore since they care more about”trends”than their customer base. Too bad Revlon, you really screwed up with this one. Goodbye from a one devout customer.

Please bring back Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde/72. You cornered the market with this shade and have disappointed many users when you discontinued it. Maybe your people who give advice to consumers (the 800 number). could suggest which two shades to mix in order to get this color. Instead they just advise against mixing. What to do? At least help me understand why?

Why did your company think it was a good idea to bring out a nailpolish that smells like an old lady’s hankerchief drawer? I just bought a bottle of your Perfumerie autum spice polish and I can honestly say it is the worst smelling thing I have come across. I had to get up during the night and take it off. I am 67 years old and would not want this type of scent so I cannot imagine a younger woman wanting this scent. I am going to attempt to return the polish and get my $5.99 back, wish me luck. Never thought I would have to “smell” nail polish before I bought it but next time I sure will.

Dear Revlon,
Wow, you did it again! As an African American, it is hard to find reputable eyelash glue that works well with our oily skin. It is equally as challenging to find glue that is reputable, dark base and affordable. I want to commend you all for changing that.
I usually wear harsh weave glue to adhere my false eyelashes. Over time, I have noticed that this glue is unforgiving and pulls out most of my natural eyelashes. I have tried several dark eyelash glues (Ardell, Kiss, Lash Grip, Duo, and Debu) but none of them offered lasting support and was often either too sticky or watery. I recently saw Revlon’s Precision Dark Eye Lash Adhesive, and thought one more would not hurt. To my surprise, Revlon offered the best support for my false eyelashes. It was located at my local drugstore and Wal-Mart, which means, I did not have to go to a fancy department store or order it online.
So hats off to Revlon!! It isn’t too sticky or watery. It also adheres in a timely manner and most of all, it lasts for hours!!
Sincerely
Happy Eyelashes-Nicole Rogers

I second what the lady said about LOVE PAT PRESSED POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to love the transluscent natural shade and NEVER could find it AGAIN, I also tried every revlon product to no avail! When they discontinued it I CALLED REVLON but they didn’t even had a list where you could learn about the equivalent of the color one used in another line- and I couldn’t find any shade like it nor effect on my skin.
I sometimes buy an used item in ebay but the older translucent sets from before have a different tint to them. I have an original from 25 years ago and a newer one I bought 10 ago… and I haven’t been able to find anything AT ALL that compares to that. if anyone knows anything please post an answer- and for the lady that posted before please try ebay, at least it is the only solution I could see…

I’m right there with you about the LOVE PAT pressed powder. I used it for many years and was devastated when they discontinued it. Transluscent natural was my shade as well. Beautiful finish/coverage — and I have very sensitive, oily skin and it never bothered my skin. The only thing I have found that compares is Clairol Simply Powder — goes on smooth and has a very nice finish. Would prefer the Love Pat, but it’s long gone — wish they would bring it back. I would be the first in line to buy it.

To : Whom it may concern,
I have been a faithful user of your wonderful prouduct Etrna 27 with Progenitin since the early sixty’s.
I have found that someone is selling moisture cream labled as Etnra 27 with progenitin
that is really only moisture cream! I knew right away that this was not Revon’s cream with progenitin. I have had this cream tested and also have a letter stating that this is in fact only moisture cream in a jar marked with progenitin. I need to speak to smeone other than the Oxford store in N.C. as they have lied and were very rude to me. I would very much like to speak with someone who could help me with this matter. I LOVE your Etrna 27 w/ Progenitin and only want to get the real thing ! Please contact me at 301-733-9613.
Thank you ,

I now have 7 jars of this moisture cream that is marked w/progenitin !

Please tell me that Revlon isn’t going out of business. I have used Color Silk hair color from Revlon for 47 years #72 Strawberry Blonde, that is the one I want and no other, but I’ve noticed the last several months it isn’t on the shelf at any drugstores, Wal-Mart’s, Target’s, Meijers, anywhere here in Indianapolis IN I tried to order from Amazon, they charged my credit card, then emailed me it was no longer available and refunded the card. I emailed Revlon asked about this they assured me Strawberry Blonde is still available. It is not.
What gives??
