So ridiculous. Went shopping earlier today and witnessed two Area Supervisors getting yelled at in front of EVERYONE on the floor by their STORE MANAGER. The one on Centerville Rd in Garland, Texas. I even saw another customer tell the store manager something about how she was yelling at her team and the store manager lied to her and told her they were just conversing ! That is a lie ! Seems to me like the store manager, who by the way is named TIFFANY, needs to be re-evaluated. If she treats her own management team like that, imagine how she treats the rest of the store? Ridiculous. How embarrassing, it’s almost like she was on a power trip. I hope those two area supervisors are okay, I can’t even imagine how they feel.

I went into dd’s last night to pick up shoes for someone who lives in a assisted living home. No one visits her, I met her while visiting my mother in law. I knew I would see her today. Stopped into your store to purchase cute shoes. Walked to 1st register and was told ma’am I’m closed. I stepped over to the next line. Less than two minutes later that same lady yelled next! I said nothing but quite annoyed. Her conversation with the security lady who was not in my view were talking back and forth. Your sales person said “well I guess I’m being observed now” as she saw me looking at her in disbelief. Keep in mind when she told me she was closed there was only one other register open. So I got in that line. When she called next there was a person ahead of me and the first customer was still being assisted.
I asked the sales person why did she tell me she was closed and sent me to the next line. Her answer was oh that’s the return line. I looked at the return lady and she said she only does returns. Which prompted my question to the original lady why would you tell me you are closed and in less than 2 minutes open that register who now has 3 other people in line where I should have been first. I asked the lady standing behind me if someone told her they were not open would she have stepped to next line as I did. Shrugged shoulders she did not want to get involved. I asked her I I could go before her before I blow my stack she said yes. Your sales person said to me naw you go to the other line! I took those shoes and under handed hurled them behind the counter. I am stating under hand because it would take an over hand to intentionally hit someone. It was never my intent to hit her with the shoes but it was my intent to huff and storm out. Once she made it clear she was refusing to complete my transaction and was completely indignant in her tone, it was more than I could bare. I ask that you roll the tape. There are two sides. Hers/mine and the truth. You will see her telling me her line was closed and walking to the return line. Remer there was only 1 line open at the time told me it was closed. I said there was a 2 minute time difference but actually it was less.
Incident 3/11/22 time approx 6:45pm to 7:10pm I ask you roll the tape. I see all the negative reviews, I’m afraid it appears to be wide spread through the caliber of people you employee.
My dollars are spent at Nieman Marcus and Ross but I expect the same level of respect wherever I spend my dollars.

Shopped at the DDs on Buckingham Road in Garland, Texas this morning and was treated poorly by a floor manager. To call her rude would be a compliment. Seriously, there was literally no, “hi, welcome to DDs, next in line, or even “thank you”. However, she told me I needed to put my buggy away (and I’m always courteous to do so),but to be told to do so rubbed me the wrong way seeing that I do not work there! I was able the reach the manager later in the day and he assured me that he would speak to this person about her attitude. I like DDs and their outstanding prices, but customer service among some of their employees leave a lot to be desired. I doubt my comment will change things, nor get any attention from the powers that be, but I’ve said what I needed to say. Cheers!

Sounds to me like every one of these stores has 2 things in common, poor customer service and no restrooms for customers. I can’t imagine how they are still in business. I haven’t been in a dd’s store in over 10 years, and I’m glad that I read all of these comments before I went back in. Out of approximately 25 comments here, only one was positive, and in that one positive comment the customer says if you are polite to them, they will be nice to you. I’m sure that’s not true at all because out of all the upset customers who wrote in to complain about something, basically everyone of them seemed polite mostly offended at the lack of respect given to them in a place where they are spending their money. Customer service is all that matters, if you go to a store to spend your money, you should be treated with respect by the people working there, regardless of how much money you spend and regardless of who is having a bad day, if you can’t handle life and you have to be a mean rude p.o.s. don’t go and get a job somewhere just to take your anger out on some innocent person who’s just shopping and trying not to be ripped off. None of you customers deserve this kind of treatment, it makes me sick to read how indecent these employees have been towards you. Dd’s discount needs to do a massive retraining and most likely rehiring throughout the entire chain of stores because it sounds like their main focus right now is to avoid being ripped off thats why they don’t have restrooms for customers, and thats why they have people at the door to stop backpacks from entering and why they no longer give cash back. Its all about assets protection, and screw the customers and their needs. Something needs to be done about businesses with this focus, its not what we deserve.

I work at DD’s Discount in Chicago part time, omg worst job I’ve ever had, I don’t receive my breaks or lunch, my direct deposit has never been processed, when to pick up my check one Friday, was told by my manger they lost my check. Piss poor managerment. I’m still waiting to receive my check no answer as of yet, all management says is they emailing the District Manager no one can give me a answer as to where my check is.

So sorry for you this socks. At least in this industry you can now upgrade and transfer your retail skills to a high end store like Saks, Nieman Marus and others. Believe me they ate hurting to find good employees.

D D’s Discount return policy without a receipt is terrible! This company will charge you about 18% of the items value and will give you store credit for the remaining balance. After my return, I left the store empty handed and they kept a portion of my money. I will never shop there again and will encourage friends and family to do the same.

Hello,
I tried working part time at DDs on 59th ave and olive glendale, az. I took this job for little extra income and to get out of house for a bit since I work full time at home. I have never in my life seen rude managers and employees. I worked 3 weeks nobody talked to me. They don’t know how to manage breaks and they cared less that I was in car accident. Also they do not follow covid guidelines 6feet apart they want 2 customers at a time at 1 register. The thing that top everything, was the manager had nerve to print last receipt from my register thinking I gave something free to someone. She owes me an apology. Johnny the manager there should not even be a manager. I advise if possible go to any other dds but the one on 59th ave and olive.

I am a black woman and I was racially profiled at the 10576 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33174 dd’s location today around 4:20 p.m. Before entering the store, I had shopped at a nearby store. In my hand there was a plastic bag with a glass cup inside. And just in case (so no one would give me any problems) I put a knot in my bag so nothing would be questioned. I entered the dd’s store and there was no doorman at his station, as I was going to the shoe aisle he appeared, looked at my bag, and said “Hello, are you making a return?”. I said no and “It’s just a glass from the store”, since I saw his face frowned up. He then said “You’ll either have to put that bag behind the cashier counter or give it to me to hold”. I was so focused on getting a pair of shoes that I gave him my bag, but then the next second I thought about how wrong he sounded. I know for a fact that he would never say that to anyone else in this store. I then shook my head, said no, and took my bag back. I then told him “You are completely wrong. I know you are not asking anyone else for their belongings.” When I confronted him, his face showed shock as if I caught him being blatantly racist and racially profiling, like he was clearly doing. He said nothing, while his mouth hung open. I then left the store. Never in my 24 years have I experienced such disrespect and embarrassment as I did today. I expect some type of action to be taken against the doorman working the 4pm shift today, Friday. And I will be sharing my story on all review forums and social media so no one will have to go through embarrassment, humiliation and injustice I just experienced.
Here is a copy of the google review I posted:
“If you’re black or not white passing do not shop here unless you want to be treated like a criminal. I came in with one plastic bag with a glass I bought from another store. I even made sure to put a knot in the bag before entering. The doorman informed me I’d have to either give him my bag or put it behind the counter, as if I was going to steal. I know for a fact that he would not have said that if I wasn’t a black person. The doorman working the 4pm shift today, Friday should be fired. Save yourself the troubles and go to a different department store.”

I had a very such a bad experience at your 4035 N 33rd Ave Ste 35, Phoenix, AZ 85017. I bought a very large rug and had the worst time getting into my cart. When I was paying a man took the rug out of the cart.. I asked the cashier, “I can’t uses the cart to take the rug out?” She said NO. I tried to explain to her that I had 3 neck fusions and a severely bad back and I could injury myself. I should have just canceled my transactions. Instead I asked if I could move my car, the man opens the door and hands it to me. He could have easily walked it to my car. I had to drag it to my car. I really don’t understand your policy and My family and company will never shop in your establishment again.Your employees customer services is horrible and they should be retrained. One cashier and 2 just standing around and NO one could help me.

This is to whom it concerns from DD’s discounts and all other affiliates associated with them.
My name is Mikayla Valdez and this incident took place at your store located at 9779 Forest Lane Dallas, TX 75243. I wanted to start off by saying that I was super excited to be over my sickness. I got a viral infection last week and I just got over my illness. Saturday 5/18/19 I was feeling a lot better and ready to shop. Just like everyone else I believe money gets spent the same way. There’s no discrimination against money and how it’s spent especially if you’re a business owner, that prejudice would want that customer to go to their store. Period. I believe every customer that walks into a business should be treated as they were a part of the business at hand. Everyone counts and everyone’s money spent goes toward the success of that particular business.
Let me start off by saying I just got better from my illness and wanted to shop. I’ve been waiting all week and I waited all day Saturday after the storm to go to DD’s discount store. There was a bad storm going on, but I had the intention of spending money at a place I’ve never gone to. This was a store recommended from a friend, since I am new to the area. The website and items looked great and exactly what I was looking for. Just like Ross Dress for Less, which was so cool. So, I casually walk in around 5:45pm, well-mannered, well dressed, and a good demeaner on my shoulders. So, I walk in a few paces and I get stopped by an associate by the name of George and all he said was “you need to leave. You have your backpack on and indeed laughed in my face, then proceeded to say again,’’ you can’t be in here with that, and you can’t come in.” At this point I’m in shock. I had no idea what to do so I asked the associate are you talking to me while at the same time looking around for another person he might be talking to. George said “I’m talking to you and you can’t come in.” Mind you, if you look at the recordings or video, I’m very well dressed, and my backpack which has my medications in it, happens to be Michael Kors. A small backpack for that matter. So, I stop. I very politely and courteously asked, why is it me that’s being stopped, he said “you have a backpack”. George actually said “Get your sh*t and leave, I’ve been doing this for 13 years.” And continued to laugh in my face. So, I respectfully turned around and walked out. I went to my SUV parked in the front row and put my backpack in the car and called the store from the parking lot and requested a manger to speak with me outside, since I was terrified of being embarrassed or humiliated again in front of the community. Eric came on the line and than followed with confronting me in front of the store since it was clear I still had intentions on shopping, but they made it clear I was not to be welcomed back in the store going forward. As I finish explaining the situation, Eric happens to roll his eyes and says he understands the situation at the same time he’s almost to the point where he’s going to put his hands on me to escort me out. What a situation!! I can’t believe he said this??! While George was explaining why I couldn’t come in, other people especially women were coming in back to back with purses that were double and triple the size of my backpack. Not only that, as I’m reviewing the situation, and asked for the manager, waiting on the manager, I notice I’m the only Hispanic around, the only one around well dressed, no holes in their clothes and no big bag with them. So, Eric comes out and I politely explain what’s going on. Eric had an attitude that backed up his co-worker’s George and told me to leave the premises. Eric did nothing to resolve the issue and supported George without even understanding the underlining issue, I did in fact tell Eric I have a medical condition supported with a Doctors note stamped 05/13/19 from , DO MD Ashley Miller, if that is the issue I don’t have a problem showing you, he refused. At that same time, I gave him examples of all people coming in right after me and what they look like, and NON-of them were told to leave the premises. As I finish explaining the situation, Eric happens to roll his eyes and says
he understands the situation at the same time he’s almost to the point where he’s going to put his hands on me to escort off the property. Eric gave me time to explain anything else. He was to the point where it was too much for me to be there anymore. I walked out with Eric right behind me with no regards of looking for anything else out of the ordinary. It starts with management and you guys have failed from the top down. This incident is the worst customer service retail situation I’ve ever been in. Actually, the only incident. I spend my money everywhere but as of yesterday, not with you guys, EVER. I found our you guys are associated with Ross Dress for Less which is one of my favorite stores. This incident came down to race and prejudice, and plain and simple to humiliate and embarrassment the consumer. This situation didn’t come about from my nice Michael Kors bag that I had on when I walked in. Just review the tapes. Since I’ve found out you guys are associated with Ross, I’m going to make sure that everyone and their bosses know how DD discounts operates. The worst experience ever. I’ll probably post what I can on your facebook page as well for all 850 thousand followers to see. If Public humiliation is the GOAL, You definitely succeeded, I am very happy to have kept my hard earned money in my pocket and to spend it somewhere else WORTHY.
If anyone wants to reach out to me my number is 325-340-XXXX which is to be kept confidential.

Just so you are aware, I left an entire cart of items sitting in the store un-purchased in Arlington, TX. I had planned on spending approximately $200 today in your store. Due to the fact you have no public restroom (I am a disabled veteran that has bladder issues), I had to leave the store without purchasing my items. I asked two employees about a restroom and was told “We do not have public restrooms”. This is extremely poor customer service and could possibly be discrimination against those with medical issues. I will not be shopping in your store(s) again. I will also encourage my friends and family to no longer shop in your stores.

I visited the store located on Marbach Rd & Hwy 410 (#5127) on 10/10/18 between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm. I found several items and went to the cashier to pay for my purchases.
I was very disappointed in the cashier named (Genie). She was very rude and did not even speak or acknowledge me when I went to her register to pay. It seemed like I bothered her. I feel like she does not like her job and shows it in her face expressions. I have always been greeted with a smile when I come into the store and when I also pay and leave the store.

He decided he would wait on me instead of the lady at the register so that he could scold me. He said “If you don’t want to follow the policy you could get out”. “You don’t have to come in here”. As i was leaving he yelled out to his co workers and for customers to hear “she’s just miserable”, Twice. He also wore a badge that said trainee, i certaintly hope he’s not training and he could use a course in customer service.

MHi I just came to when your store in Sacramento on Stockton Boulevard yesterday and didn’t have the greatest experience, I’m disabled and needed to use the restroom but was declined because of store policy, the best that I was given was to urinate with my urinal in a changing room which I didn’t have on me so my wife had to run to the car and get it but by then I went on myself quite a bit, Imagine if I had to use number two what then? Was I supposed to just go on myself? There should be a policy to let anybody with a disability use the restroom regardless because we have special needs and there needs to be a handicap accessible restroom at that, this was poor service offered to me and very unprofessional… I’m going to file a complaint about this because I already have enough issues and didn’t deserve this, all I was told was it’s not equipped for handicap people and they didn’t want me to fall and they be liable, what bathrooms today are really handicap accessible, not very many unless built for handicap people, I am in a wheelchair and explained I’ll use my urinal without getting up but kept hearing the same excuses, and after using a changing room my wife wasn’t allowed to empty it in there restroom they had to do it which is ridiculous it’s just a restroom. Someone needs to put a stop to stores preventing customers from using the restroom because we are buying from you yet you can’t provide restrooms especially people that have a disability, with my Spinal Cord injury if I don’t use the restroom I get flushed and if my blood pressure gets high enough I could have a stroke and oh what a lawsuit would come your way but I’ll be contacting someone to resolve this issue.

Dds needs to drug test employees. This is from your Moreno Valley store 5019

I had a very bad experience at your Chino Ca. (5017). Apperantly your stores return policies have changed as of June 1st, 2018. Well this store failed to inform customers of this until the week of June 24th. A sign was then posted in front of store. Unfortunately many customers had already purchased items that they then wanted to return. I politely inform the cashier that the sign wasn’t there when I purchased. So at this point the loss prevention girl (Brenda) walks behind me and mutters under her breath that however much I complain I wasn’t getting my money back. At this point I told her to please mind her business as I wasn’t talking to her. From there it all went to hell. She proceeded to argue with me. When I asked for the manager (Anthony) to come into situation. He walked right past me and started playing with hangers. I asked if he was going to deal with his employee, who at this point was arguing with my 70yrs old mother. He said he couldn’t do it in public and he was going to handle another customer. He never told Brenda a word. The cashier that was helping me then told me that people have problems with Brenda all the time and is never disciplined by the management. I will no longer go to your stores as I can see that people on this site have all had similar stories with your employees in different stores!

Please train your staff to tell the customer of policy changes at check out, especially when it involves not being reimbursed for returns in the same manner they paid for the items, for example cash for cash or crediting back funds on a credit card. In addition, if you are forcing people to take store credit for returns, you should provide on a gift card and not on a sheet of paper with the amount on it. I took it upon myself to staple the receipts to the “store credit” as proof that I did not create the store credit at home. Now, I’m wondering if there is an expiration date on my store credit. No one seems to offer up any information. The policy changed less than one month ago. I believe there should be signs at the register AS WELL AS having the cashiers remind the customers of the policy for at least 6 months. Old habits die hard and it takes a while to retrain customers of the new rules. I didn’t even ask for cash-I wanted it off my credit card. Now I feel I have to pay twice-I have to pay my credit card and I have to figure out something to buy at DD’s. I was so mad nothing looked good. Once I use my store credit, I will probably rarely, if ever, shop at DD’s. I wish the cashier at check out had informed me. The cashier at the return desk pointed over to a sign across the room. A sign I couldn’t read from where I was standing so I don’t even know if the one I was looking at the one that states the policy or she was just full of it.

Why can’t you let your customer use the bathroom when they need it. It’s not fair. Not even the owner of this company. So, I hope that this letter will trigger your conscience to let your cystomer use the restroom.

Had a very outrageous customer service with one of the employees on the Katella & Euclid branch.
Her name is Pat rice. She was so rude, and very unprofessional. I still cannot believe that someone Can be that offensive to a client. I was making 3 different purchases for my guests so I asked her if she could put the receipts in the various bags as she was charging. After the 1st charge she rudely handed me the receipt and my change and she told “DO IT YOURSELF AM GIVING YOU CHANGE BACK ANYWAY.” I was baffled and I put the receipt in the bag. I asked her could you please put the other receipts in the bag? She rudely responded “I DON’T HAVE FIVE HANDS TO SERVE YOU.” I told her you are so rude. She responded you think am rude because I will not put your receipts in the bag? I told her not just that, the way you communicate is so rude. She responded, I don’t get paid enough to put receipts in the bag. I told her I would like to talk to the store Manager. She rudely responded she is right there and by the way my name is Pat rice. She then went ahead and started conversing with her manager is Spanish. I then realized I can’t even complain to the manager, I didn’t even know what they are conversing about since they were conversing in Spanish. I went to the manager and asked her who else can I complain to about Pat rice? She told me to call 1800ROSS, which is obviously a number I cannot dial since the digits are incomplete.. That happened on January 19th at 1930 in the presence of my 2 guests and my 8 year old daughter. What a Shame!!!.
