Zamzows was founded in 1933 by Gus and Carmalita Zamzow in Boise, Idaho. The store’s original name was Zamzows Feed, which was later changed to Zamzows Feed and Coal.
The company operates a chain of pet, lawn and garden stores in Idaho. As of 2015, there are 10 locations with an annual revenue of $19 million. Zamzows carries everything from pond supplies to dog food to lawn fertilizer. All locations offer pet grooming services and plenty of free advice. Competitors are big box stores Home Depot and Petsmart, however, Zamzows continues to expand, with another location planned to open in late 2017.
Zamzows is still company opened and operated by Gus and Carmalita’s two grandsons Jim and Rick Zamzow. In addition to major name brands, the company also sells their own version of many popular products, such as lawn weed and feed sprays and dog food.
In February 2019, the company donated $2400 to the Idaho BSU Intermountain Bird Observatory.
On December 20, 2020, the company allowed all remaining fresh cut Christmas trees to be sold for “whatever price the buyer wanted to pay.” All proceeds would be donated to the Simply Cats foundation.

I want to give an excellent customer service survey on your employee, Jay, who helped me as a cashier and being extremely professional and courteous in my purchase on 5/28/2022 at Zamzows location at 6313 Fairview Ave, Boise. She carried my purchase to my car because l had injured my leg . I appreciate her wonderful attitude. Thanks, Jay!

I have attempted emailing you three times but your online link is broken. Our expensive Christmas tree purchased at your Overland store died within a week of bringing it home. It received a fresh cut and was put in water immediately. We are seniors and purchasing another one wasn’t in our budget. We will go elsewhere next year.

Your website is s**t. No way to find anything and no way to find out was is in store. Your phones are s**t. I called both the Watertower and Overland locations for over an hour and a half trying to get someone to let me know if you had something in store. NEITHER location answered their phone. Your selection is s**t. Funny how you don’t carry things that EVERY other pet store carries as staples to their business. I spend roughly 2-300 every month. I’ll be supporting DnB now. Thanks for having a sh**ty website/phone system/selection. Ryan-
even this sh**ty messaging system isn’t working. Already attempted to send it 4 times… wow i hate your company
nothing like wasting my whole lunch hour for something you don’t even carry
