Terrible Herbst Oil Company, known simply as Terrible Herbst, was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1959 by Jerry Herbst. His father, Ed, owned a gas station in Chicago, Illinois, in the late 1930’s. The company claims that Ed invented the click off nozzle for gas pumps, which allowed Ed to pump more gas since there was no need to sit with each car. His competitors complained that “This terrible Herbst is going to put us out of business.” Jerry found the name amusing and decided to name his company after his father’s moniker.
The company owns a chain of gas stations, convenience stores, smog stations, and car washes in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California. Currently there are 100 locations, including 41 with car wash stations, and locations featuring 20 smog stations. Most locations also have convenience stores.
In February 2020, the Moapa Town Advisory Board, or MTBA, approved a zoning request from the Herbst family for a convenience store and gas station.
In 2019, the company added EV (Electric Vehicle) charging stations to all their Las Vegas, Nevada, locations.
Terrible Herbst Oil Company is still run by the Herbst family, Tim, Troy, and Ed, with headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I stopped at the Terrible’s in Searchlight yesterday. I often stop on my way to Vegas. The restrooms were in bad shape, trash overflowing, soap dispensers missing, dumpster out front overflowing. Thought this is something you would like to know.

I went in to buy some drinks, the bag broke open as I walked out the door, I wasn’t sure if it was my own fault for not making sure the bag was broken but the refused to reimburse me for anything. This is a great move to show customers they are valued, especially in 120 weather. Thank you for helping me decide never to shop there again.

I would like to know how you will be protecting your employees from the corona virus especially when just simply wash in the hands is not enough?
What happens if there is a quarantine?

I signed up for {monthly] car washes over a year ago, also my wife’s car was very satisfied with the service at the car washes. They were billing me on my credit card every 30 days, until the last 3 months that I am aware of, then I have been billed every 25 days the rate of $29.95. I called and talk to some one last month, and she said she would not happen again. Well it did happen again. I then text Rebbeca Jasso, some how she got mad and terminated me from program, with no reason. CAN SOME ONE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. MY license #501 YLK 2014 Scion. PH#714 420 XXXX

I have been in touch with Rebecca Jasso, concerning a over charge on my credit card, she told me that i could not get my car washed their, which i have been doing for over a year. I first bought gas from Herbst on Vegas blvd in 1961, 3 trucks 300 gallons twice a month. I also have my wife’s car wash at the car wash. I am dis-pointed that she would say that. She must be incapable of handling her position.

I want to express for concerns for paying customers using the gas pumps at 6680 E Lake Mead Blvd LV, NV 89115.
We were recently hacked with fraudulent charges on our Chevron Credit Card, and our son was hacked with fraudulent charges from his bank debit card.
Please look into your gas pumps for skimming devices from this happening in the future.
I would suggest looking at a different security in locking up your pumps from being easily opened.
Sincerely,
Tamara Petralia

I just want to express my appreciation to your staff at the Terrible Herbst Oil and Lube on West Sahara and Buffalo. Last Friday, I had a flat tire and was unable to get the lug nuts off. Luckily I was near your Oil and Lube station on Sahara and Buffalo. Without any hesitation, your employee, Divante Morton, assisted me in changing out my tire and getting me on my way. This young man was so professional, knowable and polite. I had problems with my spare tire as well and he made sure that I was taken care of. His coworkers were also wonderful. You should be proud of your crew at this location. Divante and Lyman are assets to your corporation! Always a patron and so thankful for your assistance on that trying day. Sincerely Lisa Adams

I am 75 years old and a smoker. I went to one of your stores to buy some cigarettes and the clerk asked for my ID. I told her I was paying cash not credit card. She said that she needed to verify my age as she is instructed to verify everyone. Now in these days of rampant drugs without much enforcement, I totally do not understand why a senior citizen must be carded. However, my answer for the future is that I will avoid spending not one thin dime run by a bunch CEO’s that cannot recognize a senior citizen when they see them!!!!!!
