Wendy's History

Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio.  The chain featured square hamburger patties and Frosties.

In 1970, Thomas opened a second location in Columbus.  This location would add the first modern drive thru window in 1971.

In 1972, the first franchise is sold.

By 1976, there are 500 restaurants and the company goes public.

In 1978, the 1000th location opens.

In 1979, Wendy’s was the first chain to introduce a salad bar.

By 1983, there are 2500 locations.

In 1985, the company merges with Tim Hortons.

By 1987, there are 5000 locations.

In 2002, founder Dave Thomas dies.

In 2006, the company headquarters is moved to Dublin, Ohio where they remain today.

In 2008, the company merged with Triac, owner of Arby’s.

Today, Wendy’s is the third largest hamburger fast food chain in the world with nearly 7000 restaurants worldwide.

Went to the pearl city location 96782 and stood in line for the worker to help me n my husband but the 2 workers a male n female make like they no see us.bad service n no rice n the girl said oh its cooking ..I looked at my husband n said let’s go ..how can it b cooking when the rice pot not closed good n its not on..this is the 2 and time with this location the workers need to start getting on the ball cause no food no service n company no make money..I guess they don’t care cause its not there company or business ..I think they r at work to just get paid n not do they job ..so sad ..need new workers n management ..

We go kapolei Wendy’s 96707 every Saturday for a car cruise n they always no more rice,potato n tonight they ran out of those 2 n ice for drinks n ketchup wtf…the manager at that location sucks we stand in the long line n go to order n land up walking out with nothing .. So sad it happens every Saturday nights.

I just left Wendy’s in clewiston fl in absolute discuss first of all we only went in to use the restroom and get chicken nuggets for my 8year old daughter not only we couldn’t use the restroom but when we went to order nobody was there …..not to mind you we had a very important game Tonight….but anyways the guy in the back was very rude and I don’t think he was even a cashier I have worked in the restaurant business for a long time and it’s truly out right disrespectful I don’t know if he wanted to join his friends witch is where we went and it was packed full but I couldn’t get out of there faster I will never go back again I have never been more disrespected not only that but in front of my young daughter I just can’t believe people will be so rude….. And people wonder why they don’t have a job or get paid more smh Wendy’s do better I setiously can’t deal!!!!

Just went the Wendy’s in Davenport, Iowa and the girl that took the order acted like she didn’t even know what was on the menu or even what type of food the establishment served. Then ms.almanique did not greet us and had the food bags in her nasty hands and was accepting money with the same nasty hands and the spicy chicken nuggets were spilled all over the inside of the bag. The customer service failed severly, when customers come to the restaurant they are supposed to feel welcomed, not as though we are inconviencing you. So next time a customer comes through drive try smiling and greeting it goes a long way, if you can’t even do that maybe this is not the job for you.

Just got back from Wendy’s in the pilot gas in mayston, Wisconsin. What a sad disappointment. The burgers were dry, gray and salty. The baked potato was discolored from being warmed too long. Giving it the benefit of the doubt I opened my faux butter packet only to find it had separated, curdled and melted. Quickly closed that up and tried to put the sour creme on but couldn’t get passed the dried out old chives and horrible color of the potato flesh so I discarded it. Ate about half the burger before I decided not to continue to endure the horrible flavor. Between my meal and my husband’s our bill was $20.01and calling it mediocre would be flattery.

I visited this location 3610 Buechel Bypass, Louisville, KY 40218 as much as 3 to 4 times a week for lunch. I say about 4 or 5 months ago they got a new manager, that needs to go away immediately!!! Since she has been there I have written to there higher-ups several times about how she treats her employees other managers and most importantly me and other customers!!! But nothing is done all they try to do is just send me and my other Co workers coupons!!! She is very RUDE and NASTY, I was just wondering what ever happen to customer service!!! I used to love going there cause its very convenient and the people treated you like you was FAMILY!!! I guess from now on the money I have save going there me and my Co workers will be dinning elsewhere until the situation is taking care of and I really feel sorry that place since it is called WENDY’S!!! Thanks again haircutbob.

I have had several issues with my order at this Wendy’s: 16056 hwy 280 Chelsea , Al 35043

My most recent issue was at 10:30 this evening. No tea available. They close at 12am, 1.5 hours before closing and no tea. Okay, I was able to improvise. Waited 15 min in line. Get my order, get home its absurd how uncooked my chicken sandwich is. Not only that, no tomato on my sandwich and soggy lettuce. My fry was not biggie as requested and paid for. I called this location to notify them of the issue with my order. I called 4 times, finally at 10:58 PM on the 4th try someone answered. She did state that they did run out of tomatoes as well as sweet tea this evening. Unbelievable. …. this is about my third time dealing with a jacked up order…..

Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers have been renamed Sandwiches. Went to a new Wendy’s in Greenbelt in Manila and surprised Wendy’s no longer serve Burgers!!
Congratulations to your marketing GENIUS who decided to rename Burgers as Sandwiches. My first thought was what an absolute dipstick brainless ningkimpooop. However I accept he or she went to University and graduated with an MBA so I know they are smarter than me who never went to university with no education started working age 12 with nothing and now have a small chain of Sandwich Bars 180 stores to be exact.
So there is no confusion will Wendy’s please pay to rename my 180 Sandwich Bars.
I think I will call them Gas Stations or Gymnasiums unless your marketing geniuses can suggest another name for sandwiches now that burgers are no longer burgers and are sandwiches. If you decide to ever rename Wendy’s can I suggest a more appropriate name like Mayweathers cause thats a winning name !

As a former employee of the Ellsworth Maine wendys store, I was disgusted with the way food is processed, I ran the grill cooking the burgers and I am 41 years old so I know what spoiled meat smells like, I have had several different occasions when I have noticed the dates on the boxes of meat have expired and was brought to managers attention name travis robertson and was told to cook it, even though the smell of it was rank and foul and watched them serve this to customers, I mean the smell was 1 thing raw was even nastier cooking and they served this to customers, This is fact I worked here for 3 years they are also very very rude and nasty to there employees. I will never eat there, not after what I have seen, nor would I ever go back to work there, or refer any one to work there. MANAGERS NAMES WHO SHOULD BE RETRAINED ON HOW TO TREAT EMPLOYEES, Travis Robertson Denise Malison They are very rude to employees constantly putting employees down in front of them and behind there backs calling them stupid, numb, or asking them if they have any brains. This is no way to treat your employees and it should be looked into all issues that I have brought up and I am not the only one who will say this I am sure there are many who agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave Thomas would roll over in his grave if he knew how bad his creation has fallen, rude managers, long waiting times for food, expired food being served to customers, adult managers flirting with teen workers who are still in school. Wendys should be proud of this! Think maybe they need to train management and franchise owners to be more aware on how to treat employees and customers alot better than what I have seen. WENDYS NEEDS TO STRAIGHTEN THESE PROBLEMS OUT PERIOD

I went to wendys and asked for a baconaider with no mayo. Got home 11 milles and all 3 had mayo my son got no

food. Called and got a new one whent 2days later and they give m
e my hamburger. But it was a 10 minutes wait for my frys.then 3 days later went at 9:40they opened at 9:30said it would be 15min. For bacon.you need to get your stuff together or you will have no one there.thus was bullhead az.

Went to Wendy’s in Norwood, Oh 45212 Surrey Square. I got everything from value menu which is .99 cents. Got 4 cheeseburgers, 2 frostys and fries. That is 7 items. Total $6.93 +.48=$7.41. I gave a $10.00 bill. Change should be $2.59. I got back $2.00 even. I got shorted .59 . I didn’t want to wait telling her I didn’t get the correct change, because I already waited over 20 minutes. I asked her if receipt was in my bag. She looked at I assume was cash register and said yes. I came home to get receipt out of bag and surprise it wasn’t there. I then tried to call to no avail. Surprise no answer. If she is doing this to everyone she has a nice side business going on. You might say it’s only .59 but I’m on disability. Every penny counts. I just started going back to your establishment and now this happens again. Boy that lady really has the nerve to to this. I would like a credit from you. I will take the time next time she tries to steal my money again. Hop you investigate this matter and dtore. I won’t got back until I here from you. Sherry Kathman. Thank you.

On 4/16/2015 I went to Wendy’s located on 6210 20th street the host name was tequila as I come to the window I try my sweet tea and It was sour… I know that tea need to be “made” every 4 hours I work at sonic as a shift manager and I can tell you that the “customer” are the boss. I order a baconator with no mayo so as I get ready to leave the host said so rude comments about the situation to her manager then as I check my food my food was cold I mean cold cheese wasn’t melted bun was cold I will never eat there again this was at 10:55pm I thought they close at midnight for drive thru? My order number is 3348 it was $9.61

I have been at Wendys for almost a year now and enjoy working there, or I should say
used to enjoy working there. I understand all to well about having to keep payroll down
by sending employees home. This is what is upsetting me the most, in the past 3 wks
the store failed to open on time, which means those of us that did and had to wait
outside will not be paid for those three hours we waited… if you add up all the times
we have waited outside it comes to about full days work, and they still insist on
cutting hours…………..Thank you for letting me vent on your website

Store #05108534 in Seminole Fla . I visited this store on 4/9/15 at about 8PM , The food was good ,but thats not why I’m commenting . Theresa was behind the counter , there was an old couple with 3 G-Kids (brats) , She handled a situation that would have been near impossible for me to handle , then thanked me for my patience . She needs to be Sainted for the way she handled herself . I sat down to eat and the Brats were Raisin’ Cane , she then went to the Old folks table and asked them if she could do any thing to make their experience more enjoyable , I think they understood that their G-kids needed some disiplin’n …..She Was Great .

I seeked employment at wendys because I thought id feel at home and that itd be like a family and comfortable where also I had gone many times griwing up with my family and enjoyed meals there. Only working four days, three out of the four days I got cut and sent home hours before scheduled shift end because of “over production” and needing to cut employees so they can maintain profit. Being on the verge of homelessness I had stuck in those days best I could with the minimum wage and little training also partly chaotically due to the cut scheduled times. Also in employee handbook stated I could wear a necklace and at interview and all of four days I was there I wore the same necklace, a rainbow pride necklace that means a lot to me. The manager who hired me said I couldnt wear it anymore , said it was “unprofessional.” Also an incident happened with a coworker that I told her about a few days of being home ridden from suicidal ideations from stress in general life but also the incident that a coworker lasged out on me in a rage in front of other coworkers and even customers. One of which she said I shouldnt be working there, her rageful, hateful remarks were aggressed by not being satisfied of my work, which I find inconvenient since I had no way to get proper training from not just daily being cut during what was suppose to be learning the company, but also lack of being taught necessary skills to be in ease of handling efficient work processes that are idealy learned by training and time taken to learn adjust into the company which I wasnt given. Today I called and talked to that manager who hired me and decided I should try and confide in her and see if it could be fixed and after telling her about my stresses and the incident with the coworker she told me that the girl had apologized and that she knew her outside of work beforehand. I told her I hadnt been in because of the incident and the cut in hours and about the stress and depression and suicidal ideations that I previously had. She showed no empathy for one of her employees causing a panic attack in front of numerous people. I am also on ssi disability and the coworker and manager didnt see me fit to work there and the manager said she didnt think id make it there and that I was always in their way. The whole experience is ptsd I will never forget and for having wanting to build my growth with this company in also honor of my decesed grandmother who it was out tradition to eat at wendys when I was growing up, I am very sickened by the pain I now have to carry of disappointment in something I thought woukd be of comfort and what I thought would be a good fulfilling experience.

Well lets start off with me & my lil sis & her 3 lil girls went 2 go eat a Wendy’s on Slaughter Ln. & MoPac Hwy in Austin,Tx. & we paid 4 our food & as we are leaving these 2 females there had a problem with my sis a while back & as we r leaving the drive-thru these lil girls throw a soda at my sis & she tells them why the hell did u do that & they come outside & open my sis driver side door & pull her out & she is 8 months prego & whn they were done they ran bak inside & called the manager who happens 2 be 1 of the girls sister & said thats wat the bitch gets & my sis said she is going 2 make a complaint with Wendy’s & the manager said she can do wateva she wants cause the manager said I run this mother f*@ken store & I have sex with General manager & she can’t do shit 2 us & also no cameras so she has no proof we did shit 2 her.. Remember she is prego whn they did this 2 her.. I need help with this situation, plz help me??

I have a receipt, there is no 8 digit store code, I tried to leave a remark that my burgers and bun had to have been microwaved as they tasted stale and the buns were soggy and wrinkled. When I called the 1-888 I could leave no comment as I had no I digit store number. Email me and I will email a picture of my receipt. This is ridiculous that I have a receipt but can leave no remarks, the Wendy’s in ND is way more than 1.5 times the cost of any Wendy’s in Florida, yet has less than half the quality. The person at the window was fine but the quality of food has been way below par for Wendy’s. I worked at a Kewpee in Lima, OH, where Dave Thomas learned their trade to open his first Wendy’s in Columbus, OH. I’m not a fucking idiot and know quality fast food when I get it. And if this is what I can expect from this Wendy’s I might as well go to burger king or mcdonald’s.

I am currently employed at one of your locations 517 E Martin town Rd North Augusta S.C.I am a dedicated employee that comes to work do my work. Professionally groom polite and respectful.I’ve received several compliment on my performance by many of your customers.Recently it seem my manager has a personal issue with me
Today I was sent home early because I chose to speak with her about the situation. Prior to that the following week I had asked for a break to take my medicine because I have migraines got no response.I was sent home.My problem is that you can’t have someone take in consideration that something need to be done.The Foundation I knew was a man called Dave whom had a daughter name Wendy and he cared about his employees and customers. Those day are long gone.I only wonder how Mr Dave would feel knowing this Franchise he built has deteriorated tremendously. Loosing employees because you choose to keep managers that treat human being like they are less than them speaks volume.A minute out of your day would be nice if only for you to see theses companies that are DBA Wendy’s. Sometimes its about how you treat your employees that produce growth.maybe they should do an episode of that show at my restaurant and see how things are done.You would disaffiliate yourself with this one.praying for change or an interview with our local news channel

Hi , My Name Is Cashay Barther and I currently just quit my job at Wendys In Fort Lauderdale Florida On Oakland Park Blvd Because they are very rude and Extremely filthy and dirty , I called Ms.Malouse The General Manager to confirm that I have quit so I went to my old manager the man who hired me his name is Damion his store is store #8615 I believe on Cypress Creek Road 33309 Fl, and I asked him if it was ok if he can give me a job at his store because I quit the other store he said Of course because , I am a very good worker. The next day he told me I was still in Wendys system and was currently working at the store because they are making it seem as if I am still working on there schedule and I do not know what to do because I am jobless with no money

I put in an application for hire at the Wendy’s @5905 Richie hwy Glen Burnie, MD, I received a Call for interview came in I must say the manager that did my interview Lamar was unprofessional,he was yelling at unsatisfied customer and at his employees my interview was literally 1 minute he was very hyper, seemed to be rushing thru like he had better things to do I said to my self Wow do I Really want to work here? Also looking around at how dirty the dining room and tables were instead of reporting this my thought was Wow they Really need me I would make sure this place didn’t look like this image is everything as a customer I would not of ate there. Lamar told me he would call me tomorrow to let me know about the job it was a yes from him considering I have past experience especially with a Wendy’s, and it would be day time he had to run it by district manger Melissa. Tomorrow came and went no phone call,I called the next day I talked to Lamar I asked about the phone call I was told I’d get he was rude and said give her time talking about Melissa that they had got a million applications and she’d call me Well he said he’d give me a call so a little over a weeK went by and I received a call from Lamar it was February 14 around 12:30 telling me I have the job I must be there at 2:00 if I can’t then no job! I was like okay I can be there Thank God I could tho being last minute I have Four kids I had to make sure I had someone to take care of the. Get there I met Melissa she seemed nice she put me in the system made it officially I am an employee ! Yay!! I was excited! She told me Lamer would be here at 4:00 if I wanted to wait he has my schedule! Okay so I waited hour and half. Melissa proceeds to tell me it’s night shift I’d be working okay didn’t expect that I was told originally day okay it was a problem for me at first I had to figure a ride I was expecting to take the bus there is no bus past 12 am. Lamar told me to figure it out and call him. So I walked out the store figured it out only was ten minutes he told me they found someone to work to next couple of nights for me to start Wednesday he was very rude. I came there Wednesday the manger on that day Marsha was very upset no one told her I was coming in she didn’t want to work me nor train me she’s mad cause no one let her know I’m like Wow I need this job I want this job it’s slot of drama The day I was supposed to start February 14 Melissa told me I could where the shoes I had on she would order me shoes Well the manager Marsha calls Melissa very upset what I’m I supposed to do she doesn’t have the right shoes no uniform she looks at me and says I can’t work you you don’t have the right shoes I’m like Oh my she’s trying everything not to work me cause she doesn’t want to deal with a New employee I looked at her I told her I need this job I will go across the street to buy spit of shoes that are suitable. When I came back she was upset I did I guess she didn’t expect me too! I worked that night it was horrible the way the store was. It wasn’t being handle correctly. After work Marsha told me to call Melissa in the morning for my schedule I called. Melissa tells me to take the next two days off come in Saturday yes I’m a little upset this was supposed to be full-time that’s how I was hired I didn’t show it. I said okay! Saturdacomes @2:30 I noticed 3 missed calls from Wendy I called back it was Melissa asking if I’m coming in cause,of the blizzard we ate getting it’s snowing. I said yes she said okay I will see you when you get here. We had got I think about 8 inches but I’m coming in I take pride in my job. It took me 2 hours to get there I see the store is dark I called,no answer! I called Lamar a manger I said no.one is. At the store what Is going on he said Oh Yeah they told Melissa to close store and she didn’t call me to tell me that is so unprofessional. I’m sorry. Something has to be done at this store I had to quit cause there is to much drama the store is ran very unprofessional there and they don’t respect there employees. I mean its no organization there the store is dirty and its not a healthy place to work.I would of love being a part of Wendys as i did before and been a good asset I would of made Wendy’s money and the work place would be organized the employees and customers would be satisfied always! And you guys too! At this store being across from Marley Station Mall is an embaressment i know you dont want it to be . I hope this issue is adressed.I would love to work at another store just not that one.

I currently work atvwendys on Patton north Carolina and one manger wrote me up for doing my job and lied about what she wrote mrnup for so I didn’t sign the paper so she called our big manger and lied about what truly happen because she is nothing but a bully she shouldn’t be able to wear a manager tag. Managers are suppose to treat everyone the same and I’m the dog when I’m there and she cussed me out in front of customers

I have been working for this company for almost 5 weeks now. I have gotten 1 paycheck of $157 for 18 hours. Where I average 25 – 30 hours a week. In all of the videos I have watched. It says Wendy’s looks after its employees. Well thanks to Wendys. I’m about to lose my truck and get kicked out of my living arrangements. Just pay me. please??
