Steak ‘n Shake was founded by Gus Belt in Normal, Illinois in 1934.

The companies’ original slogan was “In sight must be right,” which referred to Gus’ custom of grinding steaks and tenderloins into ground beef right in front of the customers. This was done to ensure them of the quality of the meat in the “steakburger.”

Gus Belt died in 1954 and ownership of the chain passed to his wife, Edith Belt, until 1969. The company was bought by Longchamps, Inc. in 1969, by Franklin Corporation in 1971, and by E.W. Kelley and Associates in 1981.

My call to your customer service number yesterday at 16:10 for Incident 1522193 was intercepted by a company called via email. I am VERY concerned and think you should be as well. report. I have screen shots. I need contacted asap. I can provide the email but how did they know I called you and the number and time. My subsequent calls to your headquarters have gone NOWHERE. I am filing a report with the MO Attorney General tomorrow as we should both be very concerned.

We drove 15 minutes from our local steak&shake because of previous poor service there. We came on a busy night, went thru drive thru and was told unless paying cash we had to come in so we did. We were willing to wait knowing they were very busy But they made our 4 shakes right away. We waited 12 minutes and no sign of our food. I explained politely to the girl that our shakes would be melted by time we got home so could they make new ones. She got the manager who was extremely rude but agreed to remake them. Thinking he was sneaky he remade one and just put more whipped cream on top. Any idiot knows you don’t make shakes 15 minutes before the food on a to go order and any good manager would not only be polite but remake the shakes since it was obviously their mistake. Never will I visit another Steak and Shake and I will tell everyone I can about how bad both the Beech Grove and Indianapolis locations are.

Went to steak n shake Natural Bridge Mo near Lambert Int Airport for Mobile Order stood at counter for a while to pick up Shake no one came so I decided to give them more time left and came back got some ones attention let them know I couldn’t wait long did not seem I would get it soon soo I asked for a refund I had to go he said he would , one day later no refund called the store manager was seemed up tight told me I wasn’t getting money back then let me know that he was a man first before all of this store stuff Bsically watch who you are talking to or else I was taken back told me to get refund from app or he did not care get shake it wasn’t his stuff came to store next day closed at 10am manager issues Unbeleivable

What the heck.

If someone chokes on a bun are you going to serve BUNLESS burgers?????
If someone chokes on a pickle, onion, chese, etc are you going to stop serving these and GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!!!

I went to Steak and Shake in Vienna, WV last night. Drive thru. It took forever, 1/2 hour and only 1 car in front of us. Ordered a steakburger and a patty melt. When we got home, the meat was paper thin, certainly not what’s on the picture/menu. It was like a tiny McDonald’s burger. It was very thin and all chopped up/torn up on the edges, very dry. Terrible experience.

I ordered from the drive thru at the Clearwater, FL SnS on cr580. After being asked to move my car out of the lane, I waited 20 minutes for my meal. I finally went inside to ask for a refund but the manager said it was ready. I waited another minute or two and got my meal. When I opened it, it was not what I ordered. The manager was rude and unhelpful when I went inside. When I got home and saw the meal was wrong, I called and spoke to the same manager. He was still unhelpful and rude. You have lost a customer. I won’t be going back.

I have written you in the past and never received the courtesy of a response. Never say die. First, recently we had occasion to dine at the Coralville, IA S & S yet again, we do so 2-3X a year [we live in Champaign, IL]. That store has ALWAYS been the best-managed S&S I have ever visited, and since I began with curb service in the 1950s at the (now gone) 3d & Green store in Champaign, I have been to 10-15 outlets and hundreds upon hundreds of meals. On the other hand, the S&S on S. Neil, Champaign (nearest my home) apparently can’t keep continuing management, and sadly is often understaffed for the volume. I understand the challenges of staffing and forecasting, I’ve been in hospitality since the 50s, including operating restaurants. The constant turnover at this outlet hurts consistency and quality…last night’s carryout had two errors, plus ice in the shake: apparently, shakes were made in advance to enhance window service, but the quality was thin and had ice, first time ever. I say made in advance because no sooner did I order (with a special request for “enough chocolate” and pull to the window than the girl handed me the shakes. Too quick for made to order. Then I pulled ahead to wait for the order…got home, the tomato on my burger had more green and yellow then red. I KNOW produce purveyors give restaurants poor tomatoes even in season, but that’s why deliveries must be checked, rejected if poor quality, and then no bad tomato should be served, pitch it and slice a better one. One order of fries was also missing when I got home. These are problems. One last thing: whether in Iowa, Indiana, or IL, the corporate order for dining room temps in summer (maybe 66-7?) freezes people and turns fries cold before customers can eat them. I have complained of this multiple times; outlets have told me it’s “corporate,” one time they told me those are set in St. Louis [??]…whatever, if it’s to keep servers comfortable, you are putting servers ahead of customer comfort, while costing yourself mucho in cooling expense. BUT…that’s your decision. Don’t forget I started this with a compliment to the IA store. Over many years, it’s consistently good…always very busy (on I-80), yet mgmt. keeps tables turned and works with wait list efficiently. Then the food comes quickly, hot, and GOOD. My husband of 41 years and I visited Steak and Shake at 1305 Locke Dr Bourbonnais IL today between 5 and 6 am. Our waitress was professional and courteous. We left before receiving our ordered food due to a group of people who were in a loud voice demanding immediate service and in a very loud voice continuously conversing among themselves using foul language. Example: referring to the women in their group as “b*tches” and “f*ck” this and that etc. No plans to return to this restaurant and thankful our grandchildren were not with us.

Here’s my complaint… I had an interview today at the Mattoon, Illinois Steak n Shake at 1:45. When i walked in it was very busy, which is usual because it’s a well known restaurant, that’s not the issue, I’m gay and my hair is shaved because it’s been so hot lately, anyways… the lady who interviewed first off was very stand offish when I walked through the door, she had a hateful attitude, Her name is Sheryl Hall… there was myself and another woman there for an interview. There was a gentlemen and Sheryl then looked at the guy and said you get the female ( talking about the girl sitting next to me because she looked like a girl) and I’ll get the male ( talking about ,e) I am 100% female, that’s issue #1, I should have walked out of the door right then, but I didn’t, I stayed to conduct my interview with her. We all 4 walked to the back end tables, I got cut off but was polite and let the gentlemen and the other woman in front of me, the lady Sheryl Hall looked at me and rolled her eyes and said ” Come on! Hurry up already, I don’t have all day I walked to the table and sat down. She didn’t even apologize for insulting me, I let it go. The reason I am making this complaint is because she not only insulted me but she told me I was a waste of space and a waste of money and she didn’t want to invest money into training me because I’m worthless. I have anxiety real bad and it’s people like her who make it worse. I am 34 years old, I’m not a moran and I know how to work. She wouldn’t even let me explain myself and she talked to me like I was an incompetent child. She’s a f-king b*tch and What she said to me was so wrong in so many ways. That’s all. My feelings are hurt, I will never go into another Steak n Shake ever again, I will never waste my money ever again or my time into that place ever again. She made me feel like I had just gotten fired from there. F**k that place seriously.

Yesterday 7/18/19 I decided to carry out after a long day at the office. I ordered a Jalapeno Crunch Burger Meal. I ate over half of it, when I bit into a French’s Onion and a staple stabbed me in the gum between my teeth. The Festus, MO location was kind enough to refund me my money, and offer me two free meals. However, I still have not heard from the corporate office and this is concerning. I am now wanting to get my mouth checked out and possible preventative shots. Who would want to eat at a place after something like this happened? Corporate please get back to me!

Steak & Shake 2620 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples FL steal money for food they do not provide. I paid over 40.00 to have food ubered to me and they only sent the burgers and the manager Nicole straight up told me they didn’t give the food to the driver but refused to refund my money for the food they didn’t provide. IF this is how you operate you should be shut down. A complaint will be filed with the BBB and with the State of Florida.

My husband and I and my sister in-law visited the steak and shake at 2820 E colonial Dr in Orlando Florida. We got there at 10:50am and was told we couldn’t have breakfast they had already packed
It up and put it away! So we had to order lunch, there were maybe 6 other people dining and it took 30 min to get our lunch and mind you we got my burger which had to be sent back 3 times due
To it being wrong! The fries were cold and old. I will not being dining there again at that location. The waitress laughed as if it was funny. I frequent steak and shake once, maybe twice a week. But will never go back to that one!!

Bad customer service. On July 4th after attending a fireworks celebration, my family went to Steak & Shake in Merritt Island, Florida. We ordered hamburgs, water, a coke and a shake. There were 5 people. My son, daughter in law, grandson who is 4, myself and husband. My daughter in law had the strawberry shake. As we were beginning to eat, she noticed white specks in her water and what she thought was curdled milk. On first thought, I said maybe her glass was not clean. Then my son said, must be it was from her drinking her shake and then drinking her water and some of her shake got into her water. Then I looked at my water and it had the same curdled white specks in the water. I had not drank any of her shake. Then I looked at my grandson’s water and it also had curdled white specks floating all over the water. Then my son had white specks in his water and to top it off, my husband had curdled white specks in his coke. We knew this would not make us sick, but it was disgusting and my son went to the front desk to tell the manager. He came back with the waitress and gave us all new drinks and she explained that she had by accident dropped ranch dressing into the ice bin and that is why all the drinks had these white specks floating throughout the glass.

We understood how these types of mistakes happen as many in our family have previously worked in restaurants. What we could not understand was the way it was handled. The manager made some joke about how he would comp our salad (ha ha, in reference to the fact that we had ranch dressing in our drinks). We did not think it that funny as he did not comp one thing on our meal. We did not expect to get free meals, but he did not even comp one thing. The waiter also told us all our drinks were comped ( as another joke I guess since most of us had free water). We had 4 waters, 1 shake, and 1 coke. Nothing was comped.

To make even more problems, I took the tomato off my burger and decided to take what was left of my sandwich and use my own tomatoes at home to finish eating it. The tomatoes were orange, with the green hard part still in the middle. I also told the manager about this and he said all their tomatoes came in that way. Well if that’s the case, he should have sent someone to Walmart or Publix to buy tomatoes to serve to the public and then sent the crappy tomatoes back for quality control. What kind of restaurant does this? He just had excuse after excuse but did nothing to remedy any of the problems.

We left feeling like it was one of the weirdest experiences we had ever had at a restaurant. Not so much that it could happen, but that nothing was done about it to accommodate the customer. These are the things that are hard to believe and that you tell other family and friends about, because it is so unusual.

we live in Greensburg PA, and the steak and shake there is horrible, its so dirty, floors are slippery when walking you almost fall, there is dirty under the tables they never sweep it up, the walls, are dirty you can see food smeared on the picture frames, its so disquesting. the waitress stand around and talk and the food is average, either burnt or not fully cooked. It used to be a great little place for a good burger, and the kids loved it, but now its so dirty we are afraid to eat there, if the dirt is so visible out in the sitting area. can imagine the kitchen,
something needs to be done, the managers are always changing, waitress are always new, its not busy any more, always empty and no excuse for the place to be so dirty, its needs a good cleaning, we will not be back, nor our friends nor the high school kids that always enjoyed going and having a place to sit and eat and talk with their friends, we are afraid, of getting sick,
please make some changes in your management, and hire some cleaning people the place is awful look under the tables, its disquesting.

I went to the new Steak n Shake in Warminster, PA. It was at 4 pm not lunch or dinner hour.We waited about 20 mins to order, only 4 cars ahead of us and placed our order. Very simple, single with cheese bacon and lettuce only, double with bacon lettuce only and double with cheese with everyone. Despite being read back correctly twice by order taker order was wrong. The single did not have cheese, the double without cheese had nothing on it, the single with cheese did not have cheese and the double with cheese was a complete mess. The burger meat fell apart .

The fries tasted like they had been sitting around for hours and were like cardboard.

I should have but forgot to take a pic of the double with cheese but found a pic of a burger also on the Facebook page for this store which is close to what we were served.

I grew up with Steak ‘n Shake in the south and my kids loved it as well. Such a shame to see the decline of what used to be a fun and great restaurant.

I’m from Davenport Iowa you have 2 stores that are in Davenport. We stay away from the one on elmore ave do to the fsct you hace a felon that works there. So we keep to the Kimberly store well just to let you know my family snd friends have will never go to steak n shake again. Now you have put the felon at east kimberly store which is closer to my home and made her a Manager. So we go in there to eat and get the big surprise that she is there and she is hiding around the corner watching us. I’m sorry she is the one that tried to kill her son not us. I’m not being watched by any of your staff for going to your establishment to eat. We had to call the rest of our family and tell them not to show up because she has a no contact order against her. Im truly sorry you hire people like her and lose the business from people like us. If my son would of showed up the cops would of been called and she would of had to leave the premise. I saved steak and shake thr embarrassment of doing that. Thank you and I hope you as company start chosing your employees more wisely.

The location i am writing this about is one on 54th and keystone .The main GM doesnt know what shes doing (Ebony).Staff is all over the place and argue all the time .Food service sucks and more than anythign barely have any Stock of any Food or supplies at all times .Cant even do a food truck delievery correct.She needs to go asap .

Well we went to the Elkhart Steak n Shake we live in Cassopolis Mi andy daughter ordered a patty Melt meal she told them to extra toast it and it was soggy and then i was suppose to get me he Wisconsin Buttery burger and got just a Buttery Steak burger it was suppose to have Swiss cheese on it and it didn’t and then my other daughter ordered a jalapeño Double crunch burger meal and she said no pepper jack cheese on it and their was pepper jack and I talked to the manager who I was telling him and then I went on to say that our fries were half full wasn’t filed like they should and he got rude and said we know you had a bad experience we will replace the order for you. But I am just gonna go and get my money back if that is possible i paid $25.94 for the food. CEO, if you read this email me back please. cause this has happened to me way to many times. this makes the 3 rd time at this location. store number 228 Elkhart Steak n Shake

Drive thru was a 20 minute wait. Paid for food then was told they were out of baked beans. They substituted a bowl of chili which the lid was not secured. The chili in the bag went all over the sit of my new car. Got home and the Buttery Wisconsin had no butter and also found a hair in the meat. Cole slaw wasn’t any good and the Cookie was stale. Worst food I have ever received from Steak n Shake. The drive thru is always the worst experience. Will not be returning.

RIDICULOUS-I did call district office & complain. Not much help-
EVERY SINGLE TIME, it’s always a problem, S L O W …. service, b/c short handed, employees quitting& others having to pick up the slack😔. Last time, last month in – a brand new gal, she did her best, 1stday, we tipped her prob more than she made that night. She was in tears!! Shame on steaknshake!! That was the 1st time back for us in a while, b/cause last time same issues.
THEN W/ in 2 weeks we went thru drivethru OMG 😮!! 45 minutes!!! I called in & the poor gal was doing window, orders,( shakes) register….. RIDICULOUS
This was Elizabethtown Ky- however any & all that u have visited are the same- WHAT US THE DEAL?? & AS I LOOK ON HERE SAME COMPLAINTS 🤦‍♀️

We were at your restaurant yesterday afternoon and had the worst service ever. Our food took over 45 minutes to arrive and the waiter dint tell us why we were waiting and didn’t apologize for the wait. The food was sub standard and when I went up to pay I said that this was the worst service I ever had and your manager came up and started yelling and told us we weren’t welcome there It was the Steak and Shake on Randall Rd. In Lake in the Hills.

4/12/19 – – Steak n Shake on University Street in Peoria, Illinois. I was trying top call in an order to go — was on hold over 10-minutes. I called on another phone line, my husband who was picking up the food and he told me had just gone in to pickup the order he thought I placed. . . he placed our order. He mentioned there were NO cars in the drive through and wished he had gone through there.
We ordered 2 shakes, some burgers and fries – – typical s&s food. Our shakes were delivered within minutes….15-minutes later, still waiting on burgers & fries.
Staff were loud, rude and not able to do their jobs. So, as our order is being prepared, our shakes are sitting (yes in styrofoam cups) but still melting. Our food was cold. The service and food was the worst ever. Two restaurants in Peoria closed already 🙁 at this rate, won’t be long before this one is closed.

The Steak N Shake location in Marion, Oh just needs serious help. A group of us guys come in to eat breakfast on Thursday & Saturday mornings. We are a good size group with 8 to 10 of us. And we order breakfast. or should I say try to order breakfast. The manager has 2 waitress in the morning at 9:00. It has been way to busy for just two to handle everything. They do the best they can but they could use at least 3 in Thursday and at least 4 on Saturday morning at 9:00A.M. And by 10:00 they need 5. Also more help in the kitchen. The experience this last Saturday was the worse it’s ever been. Waiting 22 minutes to order, and another 35 minutes before the food was served on our table. My eggs ware cold, bacon was hard & over done. Toast was burned and hard, cold and no butter. the hash brown patty was over done and just cold. Just didn’t have an time to reorder or complain. Had to leave. And when I paid at the register, I told her how bad the food was today, replied ( you should have said something and we would have re made it.) But still charged me full price. Not to happy about this . Just think all the managers need to be aware and take charge of things. Quite hanging out in the office, But get out and run things. Do the job they are hired to do. And put people in place to handle the rush. And if the managers can’t do the job then get some one in that will do the job. Also need help cleaning tables off to sit others coming in. And also the bathrooms are dirty. They need to be cleaned and checked on a regular bases. Thanks for your understanding. And we all hope this will help get things back to normal. We have been spending money with you for quite some time. We hate to find someplace else to eat but if this goes on for to much longer, we will have to make a change. Thank you

I frequently buy Steak n Shake gift cards. My children also give us gift cards on holidays so we are very loyal SteaknShake customers. However I’m beginning to wonder if our loyalty is misplaced. We bought 4 gift cards when we were vacationing in Florida. I had no problem so far using three of them. When I tried to use the fourth one in February 2019 in Bloomington, tHe card was declined. I was.told there was a zero balance. I had never used the card at all. Although totally embarrassed, I paid with cash When I got back home I immediately called the Customer Complaint line and was given a case number and was told someone would check into it and get back to me. It has been almost 2 months and 3 phone calls and the only contact I received was a generic email that said they were discussing it with Bloomington. My $20 disappeared on the day before I tried to use my card and no one can tell me why ot where. When trying to contact Corporate about this issue I kept being sent to Customer Care who says they are a 3rd party company. They could or would not give me a phone number to contact Steak n Shake and have never gotten back to me. It appears Steak n Shake is trying to insulate itself from its customer- very bad PR. You can’t fix what you don’t know is broken. My only advice to Family and Friends is DO NOT BUY STEAK N SHAKE GIFT CARDS-EVER.

Went to the 8640 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN location on March 16th. Waited over 5 minutes to be seated. Waitress only nodded for us to follow her, she slung the menus on the table. Table and booth seats were wet from being wiped off. After another 5 minutes and no one coming back, we spotted a Denny’s across the lot and left! When going to our car, another customer stopped her car to say they had just left too because no one waited on them and they had noticed 2 other couples left before them. It was only 9:30pm and they were loosing a lot of business! Denny’s had only 2 waitresses and lots of customers but we were seated, order taken and food arrive hot and delicious within 15 minutes. Won’t we returning to Steak N Shake!

Towards the end of February, 2019 when I visited the Steak and Shake, Largo, FL I ordered chicken fingers and fries. Chicken was completely raw. It was not fried more than 15 seconds as the meat was raw and still cold. I wish you had a way of uploading a photo I have of it but I don’t see that options. I filled out the complaint form on your website but was not able to send it to you as it will not recognize my postal code. It says the postal code is not compatible to the province which is New Brunswick Canada, however it is my postal code so I could not reach you through that avenue. I worked in Public Health Inspection for over 25 years and I know the dangers of eating raw chicken.

I always come to Steak n Shake for the deals and coupons but I’m always disappointed in the service. You pull up to the drive thru and they immediately tell you to wait. Then you wait for 15 min before anyone comes back to the speaker. After you repeat yourself 5xs you pull around for another 15 or 20 min before you get your food. This is NOT the place to go if your trying to get “fast food”. It’s ridiculous. And going inside is no better. The cleanliness leaves much to be desired

Steak & Shake-hwy 60 Valrico Fl….45 min to get food & it was barely warm & the floor stuck to your shoes all the way to my table. I appreciate the fact that the food charges are minimal & in todays world of kaos we need more restaurants affordable like that but after reading the complaints…its quiet simple Corporate…you need to sell to someone who cares or do a complete overhaul to all your restaurants & pay your waitress’s more money…me & my mom ate for $10 but I gave the waitress $4 but people are still going to the 20% logic….not fair. They do the same amount of work as you would walk into an Outback.

I placed a big online order to 23350 allen rd woodhaven Michigan 4813. Everything they gave us was wrong. I order 3 tripple steak burgers and they were all double. I ordered 1 with letcue and onion and they all had everything on them. They were slapped together. I ordered chilli cheese fries and got cheese fries. They forgot the mac and cheese. One of the resses shakes had some green froot loops in them. I’m very disappointed that i paid 50$ for poorly made bad food. And not to mention bad service when the women in the drive through told my husband with attitude his truck was to loud to go through the drive through so when he seen they forgot the fries he had to unload my son to go inside.

Where to begin? I remember when this store opened, and it was great! Reminded me a lot of their original store my dad used to take me and my sister when I was a child. Sadly, the only reminder I have now is the logo. I visited this store twice, once for lunch inside, and once for a very late nite meal, ordered on line and picked up at the drive thru. I am condensing both experiences into this review, but the visits were approximately a month apart. The inside of the store is truly filthy, you can see every spill stain on the walls, and the floors are sticky. The tables were not clean and the condiment containers were dirty and sticky, I had to ask for packets of salt, pepper and ketchup. I ordered water to drink and it was cloudy….upon a closer look I noticed the ice was dirty and had mold in it. I ordered a Frisco Melt and fries, and requested pickles. The waitress was very rude, informing me they DON’T add toppings for free. I never said I wanted anything free. My toast was burned and tasted stale, so I sent it back and did not order anything to replace it. When we got our checks I was charged for the burger I sent back and I a DC led why. The same waitress said I was charged because I ate the burger. I had taken 2 bites, one off of each half, just go make sure I was right about stale, burned toast. I asked for the manager and the person who spoke with me comped my bill. I did mention all of my concerns and was met with apathy. Today I decided to give their app a try and ordered a basic double cheese and fries. The order went thru and I received a confirmation email. That is the ONLY positive thing I can say. I went to the drive thru and the person I spoke with had zero clue about my order. They looked it up and found it, and asked me to pull around to the window. The first thing I saw were baskets of cooked French fries, and an empty parking lot and dining room. The person who came to the window informed me they were working on my order now…then another person asked me if I wanted cheese on my double cheeseburger……so I placed my order 12 minutes before I arrived at the store thru the app (and paid for it) and I still had to wait for my food to be cooked. My fries were hot, thankfully! My burger was not dressed properly per my request on the app and it was part dry and old tasting and part greasy, which tells me they used an old patty then cooked a fresh patty. I’m so deeply saddened to see the complete decline of a once great restaurant. I intend to share my review and although I hate to do it, I believe everyone deserves the truth. I don’t want anyone to spend their money on something that could quite possibly make them sick.

+I went to Steak and Shake the one on Ulmerton road in Largo,th e-lace is a pig stie. We were sitting the booth and under the booth the floor is filthy,the water fountain,coffee pot,were they make coffee well it leaks on the floor and the floor were the black tiled wall is the floor is just filthy.OH and when we were there for breakfast one of the workers had plastic gloves on and then when he took them off he threw on the floor were you can see it and,just walked away.What is a matter with you guys,I like to come to the Steak and Shake but the place is dirty,and also the grill I do not know when they cleaned it last! OH and also buy the grill were there cooking well under the grill there is food and bread,it drops and they just kick it under it.Please have them cleaned the place up I sure miss going there. PLEASE!

Instead of going to the garbage can and put in there like your suppose to do,also the floor by the coffee pot the floor is so black at the edge of the wall, and were the booth is NO one ever cleans it why? What is wrong with you guys? I loved going there we had such nice waitress that waited on us but I cannot take the slobs that just do not give a darn! Alos the cooks I see them when they are making hamburgers ect. there cooking and if a bun falls on the floor the kick it under the stove?What is a matter with them?Now please check this out it make me very upset and we loved going there but I cannot take the filth,and the attitued of these cooks ect. We eat out several times per week. Although recent Steak n Shake dining has not been very positive lately, it was at least OK. We never complain about dining, we just don’t go back, however, I have to comment about the experience we had a couple of hours ago at the Steak N Shake, 5828 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63123. Only noticed three workers, including the “Manager”. Our orders were taken fairly quickly considering only one waitress. Food was not fast but acceptable. Was cooked OK. We got ready to pay. Stood at the cash register for 10 minutes while I watched the Manager that had been running the register, eat chili right by us. When I finally asked if they wanted our money, the single waitress hurried over and took the money and commented that she could not do it all, although she was. Manager would not look up, even when I complained. Watched the cook with no plastic gloves and no hair net, run hands through his hair. Several people tried to use the drive through which was closed at 8:30 p.m. when we were there. Not going back soon. A shame.

I stopped at the Steak n Shake on Jungerman Rd in St Charles MO. Went through the drive thru:
It took 30 minutes to place order…
Another 15 to get the food…
The steak burger was missing one of the toppings and was cold….
The fries were in little pieces, cold and like chewing rubber….
The strawberry shake was like water. The waitress HAD TO OF KNOWN THIS while making it…because don’t you advertise that your shakes are hand made???
What the hell has happened to your quality and service?? It has gotten terrible.

This is actually a very positive review. I visited Store #681 in Roswell, GA. I had actually stopped going there for breakfast because I was constantly told that sweet tea was unavailable early in the morning. Sweet tea, to me, is like coffee for most people in the morning. Low and behold, I was craving some breakfast tacos so I gave it a shot. To my pleasant surprise, Melvin provided not only top notch breakfast tacos but some of the best sweet tea I have had in a long time. The Manager on 40 in Ocala FL should be fired empty tables everywhere and we waited 15 minutes. Finally took a menue and seated ourselves. Waitress are running like crazy, just not enough of them. Two couples walked out. If this don’t change I’m done at this site. I’ll try the one on the other side of town.

I went to Steak and Shake tonight very hungry but had to wait 20 minutes and remind you I was the only one in drive-thru so I was asking someone to come back to the window they looked at me and kept going so I went inside and I spoke with the manager he did offer me my money back as well as he stated I can keep the food but the principle of the matter turned me totally off and I was no longer hungry for their food but I will speak with corporate tomorrow as well as i will speak with the Manager Joann tomorrow because tuning your customers out is just not acceptable to me

I’ve had some pretty bad experiences at the Steak n Shake in Murphy, but this one was the worst of all. We waited an hour and a half for our food, after being told it would only be a half hour wait. The waitress forgot our drinks. The bathrooms were disgusting with poop all over the toilet seat. When asking the manager if we could get a discount, she said, “I don’t think so.” She was worried about getting her tip. We told the manager she’s going to be losing customers if she doesn’t try to make the customers happy for waiting and she goes, “oh well, we’re only human.” And when we told some customers who were walking in the store how long the wait might be, the manager yelled at us to get the f**k out of her store. Very unprofessional. I will never step foot into this restaurant again.

The Steak n Shake at 4320 W Main Belleville, IL 62226 is the worst Steak n Shake I have been to. I never write reviews, but my experience with this location has changed my mind. My family went there for lunch today. We stood at the door for 5 minutes waiting to be seated. The staff just ignored us. There was only four other customers. We seated ourselves and waited 5 more minutes for someone to serve us. We ordered our food and had to repeat ourselves 3 times to get the order straight. Then the server started to walk away before asking me what I wanted to drink with my order. I asked for a cup of chili, and was told they were out of chili. We waited 30 minutes to get our food. After eating we waited several minutes to get the check. Two employees came to the table to remove plates but no one brought the check. We watched another family get up and leave after deciding that the service was bad. We finally got up and walked to the register. Then the waiter brought us our check and checked us out. Over all, the food was warm and seemed like it had been sitting on the counter for a while before being brought out to us. the fries were dry and rubbery. this location could use a wake up call. one look at the reviews on yelp will tell you that this isn’t just one families bad experience. Management needs to review this place. it is not up to the standards that Steak n Shake has been known for. Waiters need to be outgoing and attentive. Total opposite at this place. And how do you run out of chili at noon. I seem to remember a McDonalds running out of fries not to far from here. they went out of business the same year. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to Steak n Shake.

Spent 32 min. in drive through line.15 min to place order and 17 mins. to get order. On top of that, ordered iced tea. Got tea without any ice cubes. The server at the window had an abrupt attitude. this was 11/30/2018 at 3:05 pm. store number 424 in Apopka Florida. This stores also has problems inside. I do not know how it stays open.

I visited the SteaknShake on Cave Springs in St. Peters, MO on Monday, 11/26/2018 and placed a to go order. They were out of oyster crackers, they were just about out of chili so instead of refunding my money they gave me two bowls of brown liquid, no beans, no meat. The french fries were burnt and cold and one of my burgers was not fixed to order. I have had several issues with the SteaknShake’s in our part of town and keep returning because it’s convenient. It’s going to take me awhile to return to a SteaknShake after this horrible experience. What makes it even worse is the manager was aware of all of this and did nothing to solve the issue. Out of chili… WHAT… How does that even happen?

Put the APP on my phone and placed my order….for the Ulmerton Rd, Largo, FL store. Order was to be ready @ 1PM…app says pick up thru drive thru or at counter, “skip the line”….what a joke!!! I was in the drive thru line over 20 minutes and when they handed out my food, it was cold. The fries are good when they are hot BUT AWFUL when they are cold. Also, there was NOTHING on the steakburgers!! And I mean nothing, I did not ask for “naked” steakburgers………
If you are going to put an APP out there for your customers convenience, then you should make it convenient….
This was a HORRIBLE experience, one I will not forget soon.

Steak & Shake in Lake City, Florida. I am part of a group of ten police, former police, and disabled veterans that have been dining in at this Steak & Shake every Monday for the past several years. About one month ago, this Steak & Shake acquired a new manager.
Since then:
1.Mustard relish for hot dogs was immediately discontinued.
1A. NO tea was available as a beverage in this S&S. Your manager failed to order tea was what your employee told us.
2.A considerable increase in wait times for initial service and food delivery has occurred in the past month.
3.Waiter staff is noticeably reduced in numbers.
3A.What used to be happy and pleasant staff has degenerated into sour attitudes. We know many of your staff by name.
3B Waiter staff apparently is being punished by the manager for not working the hours he wants worked. (a received complaint)
4.Today, 11/19/18 at 1240, my observation was 15 people waiting to be seated with empty tables everywhere.
4A 11 people, including me, were at the cash register waiting to pay our bill to a sullen cashier.
5.Your manager was in the kitchen the whole time we were in your establishment today. He never came out. We repeatedly asked the waitress to send the manager to our table. He never responded.
6. After several years frequenting your restaurant, today we voted to go elsewhere for Monday lunch. Let me know when this new manager is GONE and we shall re-evaluate our luncheon plans.

This has happened to my daughter while working at Steak and Shake in Altamonte Springs, Fl They have yet to do I thing not even any words of caring. They left me no choice but to do things my own way. I have filed a complaint with EOOC and now all of our representatives.
Good Afternoon ,
I am writing this letter with frustration and much agony, regarding the sexual harassment that goes on with our children. I was just wondering why all of a sudden all this sexual harassment from actors, directors, political parties and now city workers has plastered the news, and in the meantime we have children that work in our local fast food chain and nothing ever mentioned. I will speak regarding my daughter at the time 17 years old working for a place for a family to enjoy. She was sexually harassed by a manager that went on several times. When it was finally brought to my attention I would not allow her to work with this manger. She didn’t want him to lose his job being that he was married with children. The reason it came out in the open the final time was that another manager witnessed it. I had notified HR regarding this situation. I was also told to send a complaint into EEOC which I did also. From my understanding HR went to the store and spoke to employees, mangers and my daughter. I was told by HR that she would get back to me with the information which never happened. After two weeks I called HR again I was told Stephanie had resigned and a new HR person to hold Rebecca would be in touch with me. After waiting for Rebecca to call I got her number and I called her. She apologize for not returning my call because she had no information to give on the situation. It seems to me that all the information that was given to Stephanie mysteriously had disappeared. I then called EEOC and spoke to inspector Chin and explained the situation to her and she need my daughter to fill out a paper and she would handle it. To this day not a thing has been done. This is why in my opinion these young girls don’t do a thing because no one out there cares or does their job by taking care of what they’re supposed to do. What this has done to my daughter is beyond words here she tried not to get this gentleman he shouldn’t even be called a gentleman this manager to not get in trouble because he was a married man with A family to support so she took the abuse. These kids need to come out in the open and not be afraid of the consequences that the harasser will suffer, which is really nothing ”He GOT FIRED”. Wow that’s what happens in this great United States to a grown man that sexual harassed my daughter besides closing a door behind him while she was in the freezer as he entered. I have yet to receive anything back from STEAK AND SHAKE a family restaurant. THIS IS WHAT SHOULD BE SAID ON THE NEWS TO HELP PROTECT OUR CHILDREN

Spoiler alert: Not a complaint!
On 11/2/2018,I went to dine @ the S&S located on s orange blossom trail in apopka florida (In front of the Wal-mart Center), It was 6pm and they were swamped. I decided to eat at the counter,ordering a Prime frisco melt,fries and a choc shake. The manager took my order,accepted payments from me and others,delivered to go bags,and assisted with food prep.He was “borrowed” from the Casselberry store.The cook,Phillip,literally had the grill full of burgers all the time,and a second full of buns.The entire staff moved as a ballet. 3 on prep looked like a factory line.The foot speed approached running.The teamwork was the closest I have seen in a restaurant.All hands were on deck.You should check this place out to see how a store can run.The food was excellent,although the Prime takes awhile to cook,and can disrupt the flow on the rest of the menu. While it was very good,to me imho,it wasn’t worth the extra wait time,and I’d go with a double instead. I hope you will recognize the excellence with which this team performed,reward them and make them famous. You’ve got a good thing going there.Sincerely, Jim Graber

I have always been S&S fan. I still am with the exception of the franchise store on Cypress Gardens Blvd. in Winter Haven, Fl. Slow, slow, slow service inside and especially drive thru. Very substandard food, a total lack of a management plan is apparent since opening. Not getting better. Much worse! You really need to do something, it’s ruining what took years to build.

Visited the Steak ‘n Shake in Muncie this evening around 8:30 p.m. The place was freezing cold!! Restaurant was not busy – it was well past the dinner rush. Customer sitting behind us was complaining also about the freezing temperatures in the restaurant. Personnel were not the least concerned that customers were uncomfortable and some sitting with sweaters and jackets on.
There is something going on in this restaurant. The last couple of times the wait for our food has been very long. No excuse tonight because there was only a handful of customers in the store. Tonight, coffee was luke warm because the cup was as though it had been stored in the refrigerator, chili was served after the meal was served and milk shake came in the middle of the meal. Restaurant was out of mayo! Waitress did make a new pot of coffee so possibly the coffee pot had been turned off.

We live in the Springfield, Illinois area. On our local TV you are advertising the 2 for 3 dollar specials and have been advertising it for a long time!! We have visited a couple of our local restaurants and we are told “Oh no” we don’t have that special as we are privately owned. We considered that false advertising!! Why do you keep advertising the special when it isn’t offered in our area?? Please explain and don’t say we don’t have any control over privately owned restaurants! If that is the reason ….say that in the advertisement! Be honest in your ads!!!

On May 19th around 12:01am I went to steak and shake on hey 64 wolfchase location in Memphis TN, after being in the drive Thur line for over 25 mins I went in to the restaurant and place my order. As I was waiting on my order I saw unsanitary conditions one employee Jason Nike slides with dirty socks, and employee the cook had one glove on cooking meat pre cook walk food down the line all of the meat was laying in the open. The cook the place on another glove and began pulling up his pant and twisting his hair and never changed gloves… I want for about 15 mins than ask for a refund a night shift leader who was fixing the sandwich’s we was also serving cold pre cook meat that was in the open had an attitude because I asked for refund and wouldn’t put my 23 dollars and change back on my bank card, he reached in his personal wallet and slammed down 25 and told me to keep the change. I was very displeased on how dirty the restaurant was and the unsanitary conditions and the unprofessionalism of the staff. I have videos to show everything unsanitary

My husband & I visited your Steak & Shake in Newnan, Ga 2-3 days ago and I had the worse experience I have ever had at this facility. I have to eat Gluten Free so asked the waitress if there was a GF menu & she told me there wasn’t so asked her a few questions like I do all the restaurants I go to and she didn’t know the answers so I asked her if I could speak with the manager. She went back to get her but instead of coming out and talking to me she sent our waitress back with a message that there wasn’t anything in there that was GF. I thought about it for a minute and asked her again if she would ask her to come speak with me. She went back & the manager came out this time but with an attitude. I asked if I orderd a hamburger patty without the bun, wouldn’t that be GF? She said no, I told you we don’t have anything here that is. So I said if I would get a salad without croutons or crackers, it’s only vegetables at that point, wouldn’t that be GF? Well, that really ticked her off and again she said I tried to tell you there isn’t anything here GF. I said do you even know what I’m talking about and she said yes, I’ve heard of Gluten. Her name is Ericka (don’t know if that is how she spells it) By this time, another manager named Fatima came out with 2-3 sheets of paper and started talking about the things I could get so I told Ericka that I would just talk to Fatima (since she seemed to know what I was talking about and was very ready to help me out). Ericka took off and as she was walking away she turned and kept staring at me with that GTH look. Anyway, Fatima was so very nice and so helpful even cooked my hamburger patty on the grill and over seen the making of my salad so she knew it was fine. I didn’t have a problem at all. I’m very happy she came to my rescue so I could enjoy somewhat of a meal with my husband and didn’t have to go somewhere else for me to eat. I would really appreciate you letting me know if there is anything else I could eat there such as chili, fries & orange freeze. Fatima told me they have one big vat of oil and they put french fries in one basket, and breaded items in the others so that would cause the fries to have gluten. I have read where some of your restaurants have dedicated fryers for just the fries so they can be GF, maybe you could do that at this one. It’s not fun to be this way and have to read ingredients on everything so a waitress with an attitude is more than unnecessary and with a title of manager is even worse. I suggest you look at this and be sure to pay positive attention to Fatima because we were ready to walk out forever. My husband used to work for Steak & Shake in Indianapolis when he was 16 and he is now 75. We always ate there as teen agers back when they had to run to your car and would be there to take your order before you turned your car off. No inside seating and one of the stipulations to get the job he said was they would put a glass on each corner of a tray and fill it up with water about 3/4 of the way up and you had to run around the building without spilling it. Those are good memories of Steak & Shake but what we went through in Newnan leaves us with some questions of how management is chosen. My husband and myself have both owned businesses and know your management and employees are what speaks to your customers about your business. They are all you have to build your business, you don’t want someone that could possibly run your business away.

Went through drive through at the restaurant in Bourbonnais, IL in late evening. The wait was ridiculous with only 3 cars in front of me. Once ordered was placed, waited longer. Ordered shake and chili mac supreme. When I reached drive through service window, I noticed 3 people making shakes. Since I ordered one, I watched them. NONE of them had on plastic gloves. One employee was putting cherries with her bare hands, one was scooping ice cream and taking it off the scoop with his bare fingers, the third was joking loudly. As I viewed with disgust, I waited longer for food. When the order taker saw me waiting, he opened window and told me he needed to take orders and also put together my order. There were 2 adults that I noticed behind the counter. Once I received order, I threw it away once I got home as I did not view it as safe to consume. I am done as a patron for this restaurant chain as I feel this is more than likely not an isolated incident. SAD, used to love this food!!!

Steak and Shake on Lawndale Ave in NC has a very rude & unprofessional employee Michell H. Went today during lunch time and had the Worst experience. She started out rude & rushing over drive thru intercom so I should have known this was going to be a bad service. Once I finally reached the window after 10/15 mins waiting she hands me my milkshake which Im guessing was made at time of order due to the liquified state it was in AND loose top. After she handed it to me as soon as I brought my hand back inside my window it literally spilled all over myself & inside my car! I was livid. I attempt to hand it back to her as I wipe myself & car. She ignores & proceed to hand me bag of food. Are you serious?? I tell her can you take this & remake. She says oh no we cant take once in your car. Now Im extremely pissed as if she didnt see this whole thing unfold from a not secured top. I say are you kidding me she says its policy now finally handing me napkins. Im still holding leaky cup outside my window she says he will make you another can you pull up. I sat there for like 8 mins before walking inside to see why Im still waiting. Noone acknowledges me OR 5 other people that have just walked in standing & waiting. Growing more annoyed I walk to counter after 5 mins a girl ask how can she help so I tell her. Michell yells from back its coming & rolls her eyes. Are you serious? More time passes Michell brings shake and hand it to me and says do you have it.. first of all I HAD the first one with the unsecure top. She is real disrespectful and I could have been too but decided she was not worth causing a scene. I will NEVER go back and will be sure to inform on all social media platforms!

Steak & Shake on Overton Ridge has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. Arrived at 12:57 PM on Saturday, March 31st. Order placed at 1:05 PM. At 1:15 server came and stated that the computer crashed and ours was the only order missing. Said order would be out in 6 minutes. 1:30 PM asked to see a manager. No manager came but a woman yelled across restaurant that our order was in window. I once again requested to see a manager. Same woman stated that she was the manager and was discounting our order. I told her it should be free. At 1:40 PM we walked out. Not the first time that we have had really bad service but it is the last time. Will never return.

I see there has been a long list of complaints against Steak & Shake. On march 31st, 2018 I had the opportunity to go the Steak & Shake, located on New Halls Ferry and Highway 270 in St. Louis, County, Missouri. The waiting line extended off the lot onto the street. Wen I got close to the window, I observed the workers playing around without any supervision as though they were not concerned about customers to be served. This is an on going problem at the site. At one time service was the number #1 issue with Steak & Shake, I guess with the passing of time and the issues that young people feeling you owe them and they do not have to give anything in return; I guess poor service and politeness is not apart of their agenda

Steak and shake is inept to deal with customer service issues………Here we go……..I bought 4 gift cards ($70 worth) for my son who is away in college about 2 hours from my home in Bloomsburg, PA He was excited to receive gift cards for a Christmas present freshman year in 2016 but tried to use them several times at the Steak n’ Shake on campus. He kept being told that they don’t accept gift cards. What?????????????? Amazing in itself that this day and age a corporation of that magnitude is not able to set up a system to accept gift cards at one of their locations. He kept checking back in every few months, but nothing. Between Sept. 2017 to this date, March 24, 2018 I have called corporate customer service 5 times and have emailed 2 different managers 6 times only to be given bogus answers and my request for a refund denied. I requested a refund of my 4 gift cards on all occasions. Got the run around, no response, passed the buck etc. I am now stuck with $70 worth of gift cards that he cannot use. Closest Steak n Shake to my home is over an hour away. Last 2 emails to Christopher Swancer and Doug Stebbins in January and February went unanswered. This company is horrible! At this point even if the store on campus starts accepting gift cards, we will not be patronizing!! Shame on you!!!

I ordered a double burger at the Drive though at the Warsaw Indiana location, got back to work, opened up the meal and the burger had everything on it except the damned burger meat. What the?? I took it back after I got off 4 hours later, and they made me a new one. I still had to pay for it. They didn’t even care. Ever since I had that happen, I call your place, ” The home of the Bunwich” sandwich. No meat, just the buns and condiments Gak.
Why can’t you get a milkshake to people before they get the burgers? Or even get a burger? Or even get a shake? Give it up. Sell shoes.

This web site is a waste of people’s time. Over 205 letters of complaints. I am the guy who gets ripped off of a milkshake. My wife and I visited 7 different Steak and NO Shakes in 7 different cities or locations. Same results, got the burgers and fries, no shake. Just water. Got a lot of excuses, some rude, some just shrugs of the shoulders. Well, why should we go there anymore? I should consider suing your franchise for false advertisement, just change the signs to, “Steak, and No Shakes for you Bub” You can enter the doors, read the menu, get the burger and fries, but slim chance in hell your getting a shake.
Kokomo Indiana location, ran out of burger patties, How the heck does that happen? So, they made their own, with locally bought burger meat. It was like Sarah Peller, ” Were’s the beef??” it was so small! You guys keep dropping the ball from all over from the sounds of these comments. Just change your franchise to a drive through only, forget the dine in. I used to love going to your restaurants, now, I drive by like a Indy driver looking for the exit.

I have a suggestion that will save your franchise millions a year. After stop going to Steak and Shake because of inept service, which was stopping at 7 different locations, in 7 different cities, I could not get a simple Chocolate Milk Shake brought to my table. 7 TIMES IN A ROW, no shake. 7 no “I’m sorry s” 7 times, from Kokomo to South Bend, to Warsaw, to Valporasio, no shake in sight, I have decided to suggest a money saving idea to your Steak and NO shake franchise.
DO AWAY WITH IN HOUSE DINING and go back to just simply the drive through. But make it better and more original than anything in America. Have a drive through, that has a high roof over it. You will save millions in not hiring lousy waitresses, costs of paying them, uniforms, all that. Just need drive through help. THEN YOU GOT SOME PEOPLE MAKING MILK SHAKES AND CUSTOMERS GETTING THEM and anything else they order. Light that drive through up with LED lights, make it stand out like nothing in America. Make it so different, Eating out Americans, can’t wait to go there. I know, this will entail an expensive overhaul of all your restaurants, but the profits will be insane.
For decades, America has been eating out for reasons we can’t explain Anybody can have a hamburger place, NO matter how you look at it, it’s a hamburger fries and shake place. It’s boring as hell. America needs and wants something different. A drive through only Steak and Shake restaurant, with a roof for rain protection, lit up like Christmas. get your food, go home or eat it in your car, put a strobe light in there if you have to.

$3.21, this is how much you have lost a customer at the Warsaw In restaurant. I was given the wrong order at the drive-through, I got home, and called in. The manager took my name, and told me they will replace on my next visit. Two days later I went to get my replacement order, my name was in “the book”, manager then asked for my receipt, which I no longer had. I went to this restaurant 3-4 times per week, but because I didn’t have a receipt for $3.21, I will not be back.

We were at the Normal, IL store Vernon and Veterans Parkway tonight. I understand it is cold outside, but employees and customers were complaining about how cold it was in the store . It was freezing in the store. I asked at check-out if the heat was broken and the response was no, that they had no control over it. Indianapolis controlled it. Wow that really sucks. My wife had to eat with her coat zipped up and gloves on. Fun time! I saw a family with kids eating with their coats zipped up along with their hats on. It will be a long time before I return with the outside temperature in single digits. Fix this problem!

During my visit there I was upset and mention to the waitress my concern about an employee allowed to bring/ serve food with their 1-year-old baby boy.

I mention to the waitress my concern that I thought this was a health issue seeing at least two employees having the child on their hip coming in and out of the kitchen area and seating the child on the front corner, coffee area, and they never washed their hands when serving me my meal. Although I paid for my meal it upset my stomach to watch the employees play with this child and never washing their hands that I was unable to finish my meal.

Took family to steak and shake there is 4 of us we all order large shakes and alll order meal combos well it took about 40 min to get food my daughter ordered the chicken strips she tells me that they taste spicky so i look at the chicken the chicken was raw on the inside not cooked at all i let waitress no she gets manager all the manager says is sorry and ask if daughter wants something else she says no sick to stomach for eating raw chicken my bill was still 40 dollars all she took off was the chicken we will never go back thanks for making my kid sick and not caring ridiculous should be shut down.

Brittany M. a manager at the Richmond ky store is sleeping with and dating multiple married employees. She brings drugs into the store and gets high on the clock with these same employees. I do not understand why this girl still has a job. She runs around obviously high not knowing or caring about the store. She has already had 2 people quit and wives come in to the restaurant angry. Great way to earn a great reputation in Richmond Ky. 👎👎

So I have visited the steank n Shake 3 times in the last 3 weeks hoping for a better outcome each visit. The first visit, I paid almost $20 for myself and my son to eat. After a.long wait of 37 minutes, we decide to get out food to go. Get home, and realize our food was cold, and made complete wrong. I call the store they took my name and said they would replace our meals.
Second visit. I went to lretrieve our replacement meal, and was informed in a very rude manner they did not know who I was trying to fool, but I would not be getting free foodr from them. Very upset I was about to leave when my son said please can I get a chili 5 way. I once again paid for our meals, get home, and our food was again cold, and the chili 5 way was missing one or two of it’s ways. It was dry colored noodles. I call again, and was told on again, please feel free to return.

Third and final visit was tonight. I go to the counter and give my name. I was told that I in fact was on the list, however they were out of chili. I asked if there was an alternative, and was giving two 3.99 meals. As I sit and watch the cook prepare my food, I watch him sloppily prepare the sandwiches. He proceeds to assemble two of the most well done burgers I’ve seen in a while and our sandwiches disappear for a good 10 minutes, I watch this boy grab buns with no gloves and throw them out a the grill. After about 35 minutes of waiting for our food, it comes burnt, and sloppy, and with cold onion rings and fries.

I am not calling this store anymore. I have endured enough bad service and bad food. But let’s see how this comment is handled. Will there be any guest recovery done.

I wait with anticipation.

went to the steak n shake on south Lindbergh 63123. 6 of us went in at 8:30 , one other couple in the restaurant, and after 15 minutes we went up to see if anyone would wait on us. another 15 minutes put our order in, watched our whole order sit on the winder, ready to serve and we wait wait and wait. We finally left about 10:15, have been going to steak n shake for 45 years, and have never ever had this kind of service

My wife and I have written all Steak and shakes off the page. We have been to 5 different Steak and Shakes, and we order a shake. Never got the shake. The burgers come, the fries. but no shake. Lot’s of ” I’m sorry, it’s coming.” Nope. Never does. I look at pictures of the shake on the menu and think, ‘ Gee that looks good, wonder what they taste like?” Last time this happened was in the Mishawaka Steak and Shake Not on Grape Road.
My wife and I must be targets, ” Here they come, don’t let em get the milk shake!” I give up on your horse crap service, just call it, ” Steak” or ” Mistake and Shake Not.” Now you got a commercial for a big ole thick burger. Big deal, hope you cook it clear through, can’t even get a milkshake to a customer. Holy lousy service.

There are two Steak and Shakes in Danville Illinois. Not sure what has happened to them, but after today I’ll never go back into either one of them. I swore the one on North Vermilion off about two years ago. Went in after church one Sunday with my granddaughter. She needed to use the restroom, there was fecal matter smeared on the stall wall. The floor in the restaurant was so slick with grease and dirt you could hardly stand. Went to to one on South Gilbert today. Same conditions with the floor. I’m surprised someone hasn’t fallen. Waited twenty five minutes for our food. Mine (chili mac supreme) was barely warm. Staff screaming at each other. Pretty dirty when a sixteen year old boy notices the filth and unsanitary conditions. Won’t be back till I hear health inspector closed them down for cleanup, or new management has taken over. Cant believe they haven’t been turned into the health department already.

We have been to Steak and Shake 3 times in the past couple of months and I will say everytime we went it was disorganized and took over an hour to get our food. When we did get our food it was missing the onion rings that did not show up until we were finished eating! At one point there were 14 people waiting in line to pay their bill but no one paid any attention to them. One waitress was totally clueless causing the others to have to do her work too. Food was incorrectly ordered and piled on a table near the computers where they placed their orders. There was a man sitting next to us that waiting over 40 min to just get a shake. He sat there for well over an hour and never did see him meal. They just kept telling him it was coming. The manager tried to hide out but was forced out of hiding by the man with the shake who refused to pay his bill and left. The manager finally took over the register for a while. We went to pay our bill and he said 2 people called out so there was nothing he could do. I suggested that maybe he come out and watch what was happening and direct the servers and watch the register. He said he couldn’t because he had other things to do! There is no leadership in store #437 at all! I managed a 146 condo unit resort and customer service is the name of the game. Customers come first and if it means the manager has to help in the dining room that should be what happens. If the manager doesn’t care I guess we don’t either and won’t be going back! Too bad too because we loved your burgers but not if it means that we are stressed eating there because angry customers are all around us and not one is meeting their needs. If you cared you would see that this happens or I guess you will become one of those businesses that goes out of business and can’t figure out why or blames it on the economy! What every happened to good old customer service! If you can’t find help maybe you should pay a little more to get quality employees and give up the online application process that screens out very capable employees! We are done!

We (my wife & I) eat at this store at least once a week and usually never have a problem. The last two visits we were waited on by a woman named Jade. The first time we ordered, waited over a half an hour for our food but was finally told the order got lost so the manager adjusted our bill to reflect free drinks. This last time it was Jade again and once again we waited at least ten minutes without even an acknowledgement and there were only four (six including us) customers in the store. So I got up, approached Jade, told her we’ve been waiting ten minutes and she snapped back that she had seen us and she’ll be with us as soon as she could. When she did come to our table I reminded her of our last visit and said no customer should have to wait this long especially with only six people in the store and she proceeded (not in a friendly voice) to tell how she was the only waitress and was doing the best she could and I said” if you can’t handle six people then perhaps this is not the right career for you” at which she said fine, I’ll quit. At this point we got up and just left because she was totally rude. In her defense (and it’s hard to give any) earlier, she was yelling for somebody named Sarah who we assumed was the manager of which, nobody ever came and no manager was viable at all, never is really.
The management in this store (since Jerry left who was fantastic) is at best poor. Last winter it snowed and my wife and I stopped to eat (age 65) and none of the walks were cleared (it was around the same time 10:30AM) and my wife almost fell. I told the manager (a guy) that someone needed to clear the sidewalks and he informed me that the employee that does that hasn’t come in yet and I reminded him that my wife almost fell. I asked if he was the manager at which he confirmed he was so I said “then why can’t you shovel the sidewalks, it’s your restaurant. The walks never did get shoveled while we were there. Bottom line, we are good customers who have had three bad experiences at this particular restaurant and two are with one employee in the last two weeks which is unacceptable and I did tell her I would be contacting corporate.

I would love to have a Steak ‘N Shake near me and I have found the perfect location. It is one the corner of Milwaukee Ave and Gregg’s Prkwy in Vernon Hills, IL. This would be an outlot of the new Menard’s and across the street from a grocery store and 2 different strip malls. The area has lot of corporate offices and Vernon Hills has a very large indoor mall that attracts lots of people to the area especially during holiday shopping. Basically the location would be similar to your location in Northbrook, IL and Gurnee, IL.

Someone should know what is going on (Franklin, TN). The employees are not rude but simply uncaring. We finally get a table (the place is empty) and wait….a long time. I finally go to the register where the lady is counting money. She doesn’t stop but gives a nod. On and on until finally, “I’ll check you out.”

I tell her we need a waiter and eventually an apologetic young woman takes our order. Six tables are occupied but the employees have vanished including the manager. Two cooks can be seen working frantically. Folks walk in, wait a while, leave. A couple waits in vain to pay then walks out. At least 8 employees are here but where are they?

I don’t blame the staff who are obviously completely untrained – amateurish is putting it kindly. The woman who rang up our bill wore a dirty uniform and gave a loud, “Yep!” when I signed the credit card. There is a reason this place has an empty parking lot and the Cracker Barrel is packed.

I would rather eat out of the trash can of the restaurant across the parking lot than ever walk into THIS Steak and Shake again (1501 Algonquin, Rolling Meadows, IL)!!! RUDEST service I have ever had!!!!

On 10/5/17 just before 5:00 p.m. and there was hardly anyone in the store, 4-5 other tables and all already had their orders. I think they took their time seating us and taking our order so we didn’t qualify for 1/2 price shakes. At the table next to us, at a front table, were 4 employees (including the female shift manager) playing on their phones, legs up on the benches, and drinking beverages in front of customers. It took over 15 min after ordering and still no shakes or food at the table. I watched the “cook” ruin 3-4 burgers and had to start over (I’m sure these were ours). Not sure how he could ruin these burgers. When I complained to the manager and waitress about the amount of time it was taking and that I needed to get to work, they both had a bad attitude and were RUDE. When I told the manager that I was going somewhere else to eat and then complain here (and corporate) she told me to go ahead and go somewhere else and to “go and complain sweetie”. This woman is the epitome of trailer park trash! She makes Flow from Mel’s dinner (old TV show….”Kiss My Grits Mel”) look like a debutante’. When leaving there was a couple coming in and when I told them of the poor service they said it was common, yet they proceeded in…….

When I called in the morning to complain to the manager and told him that I called corporate about her, he was glad I did. Sounds like this is an on-going issue but the franchise owner just doesn’t give a cr#p!!! Well, I guess they do give a cr#p… service that is!

On 9/28/17 I tried to place an order with the drive thru Steak N Shake on 7230 Woodland Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana. I waited for 5 minutes for someone to take my order. When someone finally took my order she told me to hold on and I waited for another 4 minutes and ended up leaving because no one came back to confirm my order. Meanwhile other customers behind me pulled out of the drive thru because of the long wait in line. I did not wait any longer. I left frustrated and in search of a fast food establishment who would provide better customer service. This was my second visit to this location with a similar poor customer service experience.

Went into the Steak & Shake in Huber Heights, Ohio. There were 4 in our party. A korean lady was getting upset as she had not received her food and was complaining that they had waited on everyone at the counter and they had received their food. The person cooking the food apologized and the lady set down. We had received our food and mine was not what I had ordered so Adriana H took mine back to redo it. Then the Korean lady got up again after waiting a while and said the same thing but she was getting more upset now and mentioned that another person was recording her on her phone. Then the lady recording her started yelling and the korean lady was yelling and cursing at each other, a group of people had just been seated and they got up and left and I almost told everyone at my table we needed to leave but we probably could not of got out the door because of what was going on in front of the register. So 2 employees got between the Korean lady and the black lady. The korean lady walked out and the black lady yelled out the door and called her a name and then it really escalated and the employees had to get between them. We called the police in town to come to the restaurant and they said they were on their way. I told our server Adriana H that this place had major problems. She mentioned there was no one to do milkshakes and I thought this is more than just milkshakes. When i went up to pay my bill which I was treating everyone at my table and I asked for the manager and they told me that I was unable to see her as she was sick in the back. Then the employees was yelling at each back in the kitchen and all of a sudden something came flying out across the restaurant. I walked over and looked for what they had thrown out of the kitchen as it had went under a booth but I was not going to get down and see what it was. My husband walked back to look in the window into the kitchen area as they were still yelling at each other. My husband said they evidently would rather argue then wait on customers. We left after paying for our ticket and then as we were leaving there were 3 cop cars that pulled up. You have major problems at this location. And evidently friends of the servers were hanging out at the tables and not ordering anything or eating anything and they had left during the situation and came back when we leaving the restaurant. I will never go back to steak and shake maybe to another location but definitely not this one. The atmosphere is horrible and there is a bunch of kids running the place. Which young people can be great if they have the proper supervisory people on location. You have major issues and it needs to be addressed or in time this place will close because paying customers do not want to go to a place like this and all it will be is a place for non paying kids which are friends of the employees to hang out.

Oh I did receive my order which I ordered the new burger and what I received was a burger on a cold bun that had been in the refrigerator but I was not going to ask for it to be fixed because all that was going on up front. I had absolutely the worst experience at your Valparaiso Indiana location on September 29th,2017. We waited 25 minutes for our food,did revive our shakes. Just to be told that the cook was refusing to cook food the dining area. During our invite visit we heard employees screaming at each other, because of this. And then we were about to cash out we’re standing there and the cook comes up screaming at a girl who was working in the back, the girl ended up walking out crying. The man was calling her a worthless lazy a** c**t. This is unexceptable. You need to get your staff under control. My husband walked outside to be sure the girl was okay. I hope you get your employees under control. We will try to come back in a few months.

At 4am on September 28, 2017 my husband and I were extremely hungry after working in our home. We decided that Steak n Shake was exactly what we wanted. He drove there and pulled up to place our order. After waiting for 10 minutes to be acknowledged, he drove around the building. The employees were outside near the dumpster. He asked if they were open, as their hours are 24hrs a day, the female employee told him they were closed and mumbled something under her breath. Of course we got nothing to eat, and now will think twice before turning to Steak n Shake to fill our stomachs. This was located at 1875 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106.

My wife and I recently went to the Steak n Shake location in Lake St. Louis, MO. We are completely done with this location as we have seen the service and management of this restaurant erode over the past year. We dined in and watched as employees stood around without much direction while the manager ran around seating people, waiting on tables and actually jumped into the kitchen to help. This was not a one time thing, since I have seen poor service occurring over the past year. This location does not represent the brand well at all. If we do continue to eat at a Steak n Shake it will be at another location since this particular site is very poor. In the recent past I attempted twice to use the drive thru but was told each time that they were short-handed and it would be a long wait. Someone in corporate Steak n Shake needs to hold this particular Lake St. Louis, MO location accountable for their extremely poor service and performance.

Best advice I can share today. Never eat at New Castle Steak and Shake. Raw meat. Showed it to our server. Nothing was done to make it right. Charged full price by the MANAGER. And we were ignored by server, the whole experience was awful. I told the MANAGER he had bad reviews he shrugged his shoulders, the last time I was in there I haven’t been back for several years, thought I’d give it one more chance, never again as long as I live

I go to the Steak ‘n Shake on 54th and keystone frequently and this was the last time I could take them messing up. I have waited upwards of 30-40 minutes in the drive thru. The lady in the car behind me was just told “we are no longer taking anymore orders, we’re closing down” it’s my understanding that this Steak ‘n Shake is 24 hours. The lady in the car asked the worker “why aren’t you taking anymore orders” the worker responded with “because nobody here can do their job”. I’m sorry, but if you have actual workers telling customers that no one there can do their job that is ridiculous. This Steak ‘n Shake is always slow, food is rarely prepared correctly and fries usually cold. It’s unfortunate because I love the food. Something at this location should’ve been done years ago, but it’s never to late to start.

We went to the Steak and Shake in Russellville, Arkansas for a late lunch on September 9,2017. It took 20 minutes to get our food, went to assistant manager her excuse was they make everything fresh. What a joke I could have went to Cracker Barrel or Dixie Cafe and got my food faster. My grandson was with me he likes Stake and Shake we have been here menu times and never waited this long. We wanted shakes when we went in but decided not to get it because of the wait. Itay be awhile before we go back if we ever do.

I will never ever eat at a steak n shake again after experiencing the horrible service at the one in Hoover, AL. I work in a restaurant and I would be fired on the spot if I was working and a customer ever had to deal with what I dealt with. I was on an 1 1/2 lunch break and sat there for A WHOLE HOUR. Not a single soul came up to me. I waited for 15 minutes so I sat myself at the bar hoping that maybe someone would see me and help me. But no I was wrong. This establishment is the worst restaurant I’ve ever set foot in.

Steak ‘n Shake in Kokomo, Indiana:
My boyfriend and I went to Steak ‘n Shake a few nights ago for a late night snack. For one, we walked in and there was NO ONE to sit us down. Finally a cook just told us to sit where ever we wanted, we walked around all the tables and there wasn’t a single one of them clean, actually 2 of the tables still had tip money on them from the customers before. After having someone clean our table off we ordered 2 milkshakes and a fry. The food took forever to come out! I let it go at first, only because there was only one waitress, but then I looked back in the kitchen twice and noticed that she was stuffing her mouth with food (I didn’t feel bad about not giving her a tip after that). While waiting, the 2 men next to us got their food and both of there entrees were freezing cold. We finally got our milkshakes, and after almost drinking most of mine, I realized something mushy and big in the bottom of my cup. WEIRD, so I pulled it out to discover some strange thing in my cup. Moldy/rotten/who knows what, kinda looked like a dead fish or something. After complaining to the “manager” he just casually said sorry and asked if I wanted another one. HECK NO I DONT! I WILL NEVER GO TO STEAK N SHAKE AGAIN. I went out in the parking lot after hat and threw up everywhere! That is ridiculous, dirty, and unacceptable. I took a photo of the strange object in my cup and Steak ‘n Shake Corporate, if you would like to see it, I would gladly email it to you.

We (my family and friends) love the food from Steak n Shake and we normally have pleasant experiences except at two different times specifically from that one location. First incident happened about couple weekends ago at Montford of Dallas, TX… I don’t remember the exact date now, I overheard a conversation (they were talking too loud) from a group of servers hanging out near the kitchen area using foul language and discriminatory comments against one particular server. It sort of bothered me with their type of language against their coworker because she seemed to be such a nice lady so I mentioned it to somebody who was in charge of that place, hoping they would resolve any negativity. On August 26th, I went in with my friends to eat at that same place and we were appalled of what we saw! There were screaming and yelling against that poor coworker, the same person they were talking bad things about, in front of everyone and we literally lost our appetite! I felt so bad watching the whole incident and it was clearly she was confused from the sudden outburst and very upset, and she seems such a nice and hardworking Asian lady. I don’t know if that crazy lady had hormones acting up but that is not an excuse to mistreat with your malicious words and actions at your coworker or anybody at your workplace. No decent human being deserves that! We were all just appaled and the rest of us couldn’t finish the food so we left. Customers want to come and dine in at a pleasant stress-free environment and enjoy their delicious food!

French dressing is the No 1 dressing at most restaurants.. I tried your thosand island& itiiian and they are both horrible>> PLEASE GET FRENCH DRESSING BACK PLEASE!!!!Why do they have so much turn over in help there?? They have 2 or 3 that are true waitress and do thier jobs well,the rest are kids that don’t know —-,and don’t want to learn,all they want is a pay check!When we go our group is usually 4 to 8 people and we all like French dressing..If not available we will go elsewhere…

On august 16, 2017 my wife and I stopped in for lunch at the old boynton beach rd location in boynton beach fla . I had to use the rest room and got up to go , the floor had just been mopped and I slipped and fell down.There was no notice of a wet floor. I`m 65 years and have just had open heart surgery 2 months ago. The fall has caused pain in my chest . I told the store employee and she filed a report for the company. She took all my personal information. I asked her for a copy and she told me they would call or email me. I asked to sign the report and she told me it was not needed.Two days later and I have not heard a word from them. They did not even offer to cover my meal or even offer. We have been going to this store for years , that has just changed as we will not go back . There was no concern for my health or safety.

Steak ‘n Shake, Holland ,MI 8/12/17

Poor service, the food was bad, everything took forever. Went with my kids and grandkids late evening on a Saturday after a day at Michigan’s Adventure. There were only 4 other tables with a few customers, so not busy at all. We were seated with menus, and our order was taken shortly after. It took about 30 minutes after that to get our water, then our food came out about 20 minutes later. Every other time I’ve been to a Steak ‘n Shake, the chili came out right away, ours came with our food, which took forever. I asked for the peppers that used to be on the table, and it looked like there was chill caked under the lid. We had two orders of a Frisco melts, and both had half of the sandwich with only a tiny piece of burger on them. One of the burgers in another order was mostly something that wasn’t meat. We had to ask for several things that didn’t show up with our orders. There was no ketchup on our tables, and the bottles on nearby tables were empty. There was a hair in one of the french fry orders. My order of fries was about 1/3 of the usual amount. My burger tasted like it had been cooked yesterday, and heated in the microwave, and it looked like a bite had been taken out of each patty. I’m probably missing a few things, but in the end, they did comp our meal, but it never should have happened.
Oh yeah, they were out of pickles, we had to ask for silverware and napkins, my daughter had to ask for a clean spoon, and my son in law was never offered a refill on his coke, after sitting there for so long.

I contacted the corporate office of Steak and Shake on the 19th of July concerning the second time in two weeks we had gone to Steak and Shake and our order was wrong. The report number is 1221146. The burger was supposed to be a cheeseburger with lettuce and NO pickles. We ended up getting a cheeseburger with no lettuce but bacon and some spicy mustard where it could not even be eaten and was just thrown away. This was the second time in a row we had gone to Steak and Shake and both times the orders were incorrect. I contacted your office and my complaint was sent to the appropriate Steak and Shake in North Richland Hills, Texas on Precinct Line Road. The manager, Corey, contacted me on 07/21/2017 and apologized about the order and said he would send me a 10.00 gift card to Steak and Shake. Now two weeks later I still have not received the 10.00 gift card. So I am asking myself, does Steak and Shake really care. They do not seem to follow through with what they say they will do. Can Corey in the North Richland Hills, Texas store on Precinct Line Road be contacted and see if he really is going to send the 10.00 gift card or was he just saying that to try to appease me and get the matter settled.

Reading all the negative remarks, I just feel I need to write about our Steak and Shake on 98 N. we have the best store in Lakeland, Florida !! They have the best servers ever. Azavia, Jennifer ,Ava, Angel ,Cassandra, Sonia, Robert, and many more ! We have many appt and if we want steak and shake we bypass all the other stores to go to the 98 N. store… it is the best one. Always busy but they try to get orders out. I’m not sure of all the managers, I know Diane, and Bobbie are a couple cook and prep, Britney. We are in tha 98 N store for breakfast or some days we are there.for lunch. Either way, we might be there every day !, great Store give it 5 stars !! They are family to us !! Only one problem, It needs to be bigger. Thanks for listening. Hope I hear that they got a copy of this !!

I visited this location today July 16, 2017 between 5pm and 5:30 4329 Belair Frontage Rd, Augusta, GA 30909, USA. I went in and ordered a Cheesy Steak Burger. Once my order was done i left and got in car. I pulled container out of bag opened it and noticed there wasnt a top bun. I called another restaurant just to see if burger came with a top bun or not. Of course it does…Duh! I went back to restaurant and explained situation and only one person helped me. The manager short white guy with glasses, ignored me and went back to deliver food. It was nice to suggest a free meal on next visit but I dont live in GA. For my inconvenience, I feel something else could of been done. Its a shame that some of the fast food workers feel the deserve $15 an hour but cant do their job..Unbelievable!!!

We went to steat n shake on a Sunday around 1005 am. The place we wanted to go was over crowed so we went here. The first thing was the bathroom was trash all over the floor with tissue as well. The wait was long and the food came out it was over cooked and not hot or warm . Well they remade it but still was not good. Then we go up to pay and the bar was nasty so we paid and left
As we was walking out my boyfriend ask what is that on your shoe. It was tissue from the bathroom. This place has went down and I don’t understand why but we decided to never go in again and I loved going in to hear the music and feel like the old days but that didn’t happen as well. If this all changes I would go back again. Not until then.

I am sharing this with you as I posted it Saturday night in Beech Groves’s Our Town FB group.

This is going to be a long post and I apologize in advance but I have to vent.

My husband and I had to run several errands this evening and by the time we were finished our dinner options were limited as it was 10:45 and most places were closed or closing so we went to the BG Steak & Shake. This will be the last time I go too. The service and the food were both horrible, tables were dirty and not being bussed. I usually do not complain and chalk it up to someone having a bad day or being short handed but this was ridiculous.

First off it took about 15 mins or so for a waitress to come to the table even though she waited on the table next to us but never acknowledged us. I assumed we had a different waitress but then she showed up at our table. We gave her both our drink and dinner order to speed things up we thought. It took another 15 mins for her to finally bring our coffee to us and I assumed she was making a new pot but it was lukewarm so I know that wasn’t the case. Another 20 to 30 mins went by and she comes back to tell us that they were out of an item I ordered. I had to ask for coffee refills at that time.

Our food finally arrives and I ordered a double cheeseburger and cheese fries, pretty simple order. One of the steak burgers was only a half a patty, I asked if that was normal and she said she could have them redo it. No way, I already waited an hour for the first one. They forgot the cheese for the fries. Waitress leaves, I cut into my sandwich and the middle isn’t cooked, it’s still red. Not pink but red. Can’t complain because she doesn’t come back. Ate around the uncooked area as I was hungry.

She never comes back to check on us, no extra napkins, no drinks, no check. After 30 mins I finally get her attention to ask for the check. She seems surprised that we didn’t have one. She’s gone for another 7 mins then comes back to say the computer lost our check and she has to redo it but she was only going to charge us for 1/2 our order. At this point I’m completely irritated. It was a burger and fries it shouldnt be this difficult.

This restaurant is always busy, it’s right off 465 so people from all over stop in there. What if I had been from somewhere else? Even out of state, is this the impression we want to leave on people? I get so tired of people putting down BG but experiences like this are why they do it. If I don’t want to visit a restaurant in BG why would anyone else? We have to hold our restaurants at a higher standard. Change begins with us!

The management that you have running your restaurant’s in our area are pathetic. I have tried to support the restaurant’s in our area but you get the same result every time, poor and slow service. I have also encountered employees fighting in the back by the drive through where the customer hear everything that is going on. I told the manager that she needs to send them home because the customers do not want to hear this. This Sunday my granddaughter wanted to go to our local Steak and Shake, we were greeted right away and seated, however, when walking to our seat my husband kicked something across the floor. When we sat down we notice that a table close to us which had not been cleaned off had a broken plate on the floor. The floor looked like it had not been mopped in ages, it was very dirty. Finally after about 20 minutes, someone came to clean up the mess but still left large fragments of glass on the floor (lawsuit waiting to happen). After 20 minutes someone came to take out order and them approximately 1/2 hour later we got our food. For a fast food restaurant it is the slowest service but the food always tastes good. However, it is not worth the wait to frequent very often and the drive thru is even worse. Please help your restaurants to run better. You definitely need go on Undercover Boss.

Never ever EVER again! Sign on the door open 24 hours…should have said DRIVE THRU OPEN 24 HOURS. We were never acknowledged for at LEAST 5 minutes BUT at the counter customer seating area 1) one employee seated talking on her phone, 2)a cook who looked at us twice but said nothing then later went and spoke to friends at the counter, a prep person who glanced at us a couple of times, a young lady who eventually took our order after telling us that the computer was updating since it was after midnight by the time they finally got to us. She verbally took the order but didn’t ask if we wanted anything else outside of burgers, a group of people came in and were never acknowledged so they turned around and left. A man, woman and child (yeah at midnight) came in and observed all of the people still congregating in there(members of a baseball team, several employees who one would guess were off the clock)and were told the dining room was closed. Then the person I am guessing was managing….😡 I am HOPING this was an off night and not the norm!!!

I am having trouble finding resources for a much deserved compliment of an employee I pray that whoever gets this directs it where it gets back to where it belongs was in you’re restaurant about 12 midnight on so fla are in lakeland Florida I think our server said her name was Marrissa but I’m bad with names I do know she said she was normal a cook there when my wife and I complimented the service we received I can’t say honestly your wasting her true talent since I haven’t seen her cook but I can’t imagine it overshadowing her representation of your company tonight I’ve worked in both retail and the food service industry it has been so long since my patronage felt so genuinely appreciated anywhere I pray whoever gets this routs it to the proper channels so this gets that young lady the recognition she deserves I’ve never done this before but I would have been so disappointed in myself to not attempt to this time I too give my all at work and far to often I feel no-one truly appreciates my commitment to showing all customers how important they and their business is to me thank you very much to you for reading this and to miss Marrissa from the bottom of mine and my beautiful wife’s heart. Went to SnS on semoran by the airport. Waited 20 minutes in the drive thru for 2 double steakburgers with cheese fries and drinks. Got my order and both burgers were wrong as usual. Had to go inside and complain even tho i should not have had to do so. The manager felicia fixed my order as i waited even longer. She did refund my money but i should not have to wait 30 minutes for 2 burgers. hing needs to be done about this. I used to work at this very store and when i was there that would have been completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

We visited the raymore mo location today. And it was nothing but a disappointment. The order was totally messed up once it got to the table then we talked to the waitress to ask a few simple questions. All she said to every single question was ,,I don’t know ,, all the servers (females) had there hair down and we are talking about long hair. It really grossed me out. So we asked the manager if this was ok for them to have there long hair down like that he said ya they suppose to have them up. But he didn’t say one thing to any of them. What in the heck is going on with that location. This was not the first time we got disappointed at that location but this time for sure was the last time. We will not go back there. Very poor management. Staff needs some big improvement. They need to be trained

Not good! My husband and I have been living at the hospital In Jefferson City MO we live in Osage Beach Mo, for the last two weeks, his mom was in ICU but now is in a regular room and doing much better, we just wanted to get out and away for a little and have something besides expensive hospital food, we have ate at a Steak n Shake before, but not this location we love ours, and not for breakfast, walked in not real busy, while waiting to be seated by the only person out on the floor, noticed several dirty tables but whatever, got seated and three more small groups of people came in two couples and a group of four, and that group actually sat themselves, so looking over menu and waiting, did notice a couple more workers came out, they went to all three of the other tables got their drink orders, then went back and got their food orders, still not our table, the girl that sat us walked by our table twice nothing, so after 15-20 minutes we just got up and left, terrible customer service!!!

Is it in Winter Park Florida, on Route 436 by Aloma Avenue, had an awesome experience with a manager named Natalie who took my phone order, and a Gentleman who was a server named Devin who was helping the counter during a very tough time. I work in the restaurant industry most of my life and I’m proud of the service that I received and wish that it would happen more in my own restaurant .most restaurants don’t hear the good news, the only hear the complaints, I hope you guys give some recognition to the manager name Natalie and the server name Devin who was weeding through a mountain of crap at the register on a busy Saturday night dinner rush

I go to steak and shake with a friend of mine 1 to 2 times a week. I went thur the drive the drive thru and ordered a shake double steak burger with mustard ,pickle and onion. and french fries. I paid 7.44 for them. I live about 6 miles round trip. I got home changed clothes got ready to watch my program on tv. Changed clothes and opened my bag to find a cold bun like it had been in cooler and a bun with nothing but mustard pickle and onion no meat at all. Boy was I mad Got dressed and took it back talked to mang. she had them make me another burger. I feel she owed me more than that. When she opened the bun she said no meat .Really why did she think I was there. That was in Ft.Pierce Fl. my Steak and shake days will be over. They need older managers she could have cared less.

Hi, I’m a former employee of the Steak N Shake in Schererville, IN on Indianapolis Boulevard, and I want to report that the management is a pathetic joke! Every day I went in for work, they would use foul language, offensive words, and make you think you’re a machine without feelings. I thought the management were supposed to set an example for the employees, not treat them like dirt. If I wanted all that, I would reenroll in high school. I love Steak N Shake, and would love to continue working there, but how can I work with such disrespect? I’m going in Tuesday to fight for my job, but I thought I should share this with you.

Everyone makes mistakes and goes through stressful times, but when a manager yells at you in front of customers and lies to save his own tail, then yeah, I think it’s only fair to let the big guy know how his managers treat his employees.

Family was traveling through Missouri. We stopped at a Steak N Shake in Osage Beach, Missouri. We have visited numerous Steak n Shakes and always had good experiences, however I felt I had to let you know what I observed at this location on June. 7, 2017. Our waitress was a nice, older lady. She took our order promptly and food came promptly. As I sat in the booth eating the meal, I watched our waitress begin cleaning the means room. She propped the door open and was using the typical rolling mop bucket to hold the door open. She mopped and then moved the bucket outside the door. She worked in the restroom for a few minutes with the door closed. She came out and went somewhere in the store and brought back a plastic container with water in it and a cleaning brush. She took this container in the bathroom and shortly came out and laid the co trainer of water and brush on top of the mop bucket. She then came back into the dining area walked up to a table and took an order, then left to bring back to food orders to the booth next to our booth. What alarmed me was I never saw this lady wearing gloves, remove gloves or even wash her hands between handling the cleaning tools and serving people food. Really disgusting to think this is going on in a restaurant.

I moved here from CT a few years ago and have been going to the Steak n Shake at 10600 Fowler St, Ft Myers, Fl. I was getting very bad service until I encounter a server band Cheree Murphy. She is exceptional! I have seen her be the only server on the floor with almost the whole place full and she handled it with ease! I always try to go when she is working because i know I will get Great service. While talking with her over the last year I found out she is the mother of. 2 year old and 1 year old twins, one if them having major health problems and even was in ICU the first 3 months of her life. But anyway I just went to Steak n Shake just for a drink add asked if Cheree would be tonight so I could get my usual order. I was told that Cheree was fired! The young lady told me she had to call off and take her daughter to the hospital and they fired her! Wow this is so very upsetting. How do you people expect person to survive? Life Happens and I’m sure you people know her daughter has health problems but firing her because of it is just terrible. I’m sure Bruce Lewis would not approve if this situation and I will be writing a letter. And will not return steak n shake!

Store # 607 in Duluth Georgia has with out a doubt the worst customer service I have EVER experienced! Took almost 10 minutes to get someone to take my take out order. Could not even get the people behind the counter to acknowledge me. Then it took another 15 minutes to get part of my order. Finally had to just get a refund on a sundae I had ordered just to get out of the place! Did not seem to be anyone in charge. Food was cold and soggy. Awful experience. Will never return or recommend to anyone.

As you may know, Missouri is in a state of emergency. I am located in Jefferson County south of St. Louis where the rivers have literally divided us. Can you explain to me why you would choose to have some of your stores open? Is having a business open so important to this company that you would risk the lives of your employees? Especially the ones who have to find ways to cross the overflowing river. Steak N Shake off Lindberg in St. Louis is currently open and I know for certain that some of those employees had to cross those overflowing rivers because the DM Jamie is being reckless with this decision. If you want the business open that bad, at least have people who live in the area, work. Not the ones who can possibly be stuck there til who knows when…And I’m talking days.
This needs immediate response.

Steakn ‘n Shake in Winter Haven fl not only has the worst customer service that I’ve ever experienced the manager Ryan that for some reason works the drive thru register all the time not only gets my order wrong everytime. He apparently thinks it’s OK to flirt with married women which so happens to be my wife. After I found out that this is the same guy that messes my order up every time I called to complain and guess who answers the phone? Ryan. After complaining about the horrible customer service my order being wrong every time and the fact that my wife was practically sexually harassed verbally. He proceeded to threaten me with the police and his 44 (gun). I am not sure how this place is still open I’m sure it will not be for long hopefully someone buys it out and changes the negative environment I am very dissatisfied with this place and I will never ever eat there again.

One of the managers (Lindsay) threw a head set at one of the employees just because she was have a bad day 😒😒😒….. please fire her that’s so wrong bad management but when the employee told the head manager she didn’t do anything about it (Linda)

You have great products and good future opportunity to increase market share and performance, however your Operations Chief needs to figure a way to keep hamburger meet “hot” when customer gets meal. This is not just a drive-through problem. Its.also not a one or two instance problem. It’s not a single location issue. I enjoy breakfasts and a shake now and then, but I’ve given up the hamburgers because I hate cold…and I not exaggerating when I say cold hamburger sandwiches. Come up with a guarantee Hot with concequences campaign to correct this. Cocerned customer.

Me and my spouse are often driving home late after both working as managers in restaurants. We do not like to write bad reviews but thought the owners would like to know how their business is being run. The cook having a great time with his friends while we were asked to grab any seat. Waited for over twenty minutes and decided to leave after looking around and seeing the manager talk on her phone about what were her friend’s plans for the night instead of giving us service. Wanted to try something different and drove all the way here since the one by our house has, what we thought, the worst service ever. I guess these are the standards of service for this establishment.

The new steak and shake in Union City GA has horrible service and the wait times are a nightmare. I had to wait an hour and a half in the drive through. The staff is in organized to say the least. I’ve only been here twice since it opened there won’t be a third unless there is some improvement. I would not recommend the location to anyone.

This is what I receive in store by the manager on duties after I requested my receipt after purchase . Two of the cashiers didn’t know how to get a receipt from a cash transaction. About 15 minutes after the manager on duties instead provide me a real receipt she gave me what you can see above as a reference I have. When I saw minutes away from the branch I felt very cheated by the manager because she acted as if it were a real receipt and believed in it . Already to eat I found that the food was deteriorated throwing this in the thash. Sad right. A week ago I ate in that store for the first time and I loved everything . That made me comeback ! The store is 5 minutes away from the hospital that I provide my professional services.
There was no salt no ketchup no napkins in store bag and your manager never never apologized to the presence of several customers who were waiting anxiously to pay.

After horrible service last night at Steak n Shake, I posted a negative review on Facebook. Reading all the reviews, there were just a few positive, but 99% were negative. I am sure this is not the kind of reputation the founder had in mind. Check out the Merrillville, IN location. Corporate needs to come in and clean house, because this location is prime, but they don’t care about their jobs.

This is the closest location to our home & we eat there more than several times a month. The servers that are being hired are crap, they can’t keep up with the stores business. They have no personality, they could care less if they get an order right. They are not friendly and they could care less to make a second trip to your table. At this point the value of your meal is not that great. Steak ‘n Shake has gone down hill, as many complaints that are posted it seems that things are not changing, by this, corporate only cares to take the customers money and not fix the problem to make this restaurant great again.

Staff at Evanston, IL location refused to allow me to order at the pick up window (I am hard of hearing and wasn’t able to hear at the speaker). I was told that all the people behind me using the speaker would come first when I was clearly ahead of them. The manager wouldn’t come to the window and the window staff person would not look me in the face, he turned and had his back to me.

Not one person answered me so I guess they didn’t feel like taking my order? As I drove off already upset I knew it was people inside the restaraunt ? I am very disappointed in the service. I’m currently sitting isnide the Fishers location on Commercial Dr. This is the second time I’ve come in to this location and they have refused to make the Chicken Melt. I’ve been coming here for over 15 years and my absolute favorite item is the chicken melt. I’ve visited a number of other locations and all have been amazing and continued to make me a chicken melt. They do say it costs a little more since it is no longer on the menu, but I am happy to pay it. Dear Mr Biglari. Last week I visited your beautiful new restaurant in Moreno Valley California east of LA. I had a banana shake. It was HORRIBLE. It was completely limp and artificial flavored. Today I went back starving. The restaurant was empty. The staff was joking and didn’t really seem to care that I was there. Finally a very young man took my order for a burger. I waited 20 minutes took it to my truck and the meat about one kilometer was ice cold. The burger was disgusting. It took it in showed the manager and demanded he touch the cold meat. Good luck keeping the doors open to this place. Terrible

Went on Saturday to the Muncie restaurant. The waitress spilled the water all over the table, seats, floor and me. Took her over 10 minutes to come back and clean it up. She came back with a towel and did one swipe over the table. Did not wipe down the seats or mop the floor, but instead put a yellow caution marker. Had to request additional napkins to wipe down the seats. Attempted to clean up the floor so that I would not slip and it looked like the floor had never seen a mop. Went into the bathroom to dry off and was shocked at how disgusting the bathroom was. We will not be returning.

Friday mar.31….Worst service ever!!! Drive thru was out to the road..So my husband and I pulled in parking spot and ordered online and waited 15 min as directed online for time duration.We went in and stood at the counter waiting as many angry custmors we’re walking out , waiting to pay ,waiting to be served, waiting to pay….10ppl in kitchen and not one employee acknowledged us untill 20 min waiting and finally a customer​ yelled for someone to help us ! We saw our food sitting in a bag this whole time as waiting for assistance..Minutes later they bring it to us …Food is cold and half the order is not in there! It takes them another twenty minutes to make a shake! Out of chilli that we still had to pay for…At this time our food is so old and gross and they said they don’t know how to refund us ? Not even offering to remake our food…I was not going to wait any longer at this point.. moral of story food got trashed and I’m out 25$…I think we deserve a full refund! This is not the first time either…Last te we sat down to eat nobody acknowledge us for thirty min.we end up walking out….It’s horrible…Really need to fix this..loosing many customers due to horrible hospitality…Half of the customers said they would never go back! I really want my money back and to move on.

I have visited several of your locations in Louisville Kentucky over the years, I have seen various levels of service, but lately the store on Outer Loop in Louisville has become nothing but a lazy, disgusting playtime building for employees! I tried to give them. 2nd chance tonight. I was in the drive through at 8:30 on a Wednesday night in Mid-March. There were 4 cars ahead of me. I waited and waited, nothing moved. Finally two cars directly in front of me pulled away and left, I stayed another minute which made 5 minutes waiting the same two cars still sitting. I pulled over and parked and went inside to order. I went to the counter, placed my order, the girl said it will be a slight weigh and she rang me up, I paid and waited. I waited 8 minutes (for 2 shakes), while waiting I counted 10 customers at tables. In addition to a manager I counted 8 workers that I could actually see ( there may have been others I couldn’t see). Anyway, the wpstaff including manager were having a really fun time! I saw only one young man actually working hard, tge rest were laughing, talking and playing around. No one seemed to be in any hurry to take care of customers. Finally the manager asked if I had been helped, I told her that I had placed my order 8 minutes ago. She asked 1 guy to come off his break and make her 2 chocolate shakes, this while I noticed a tray full of shakes going to a table of 4 that arrived free I placed my order. The guy finally walked up to me with one shake. I told him that I had ordered two chocolate shakes not one. He said he only had an order for 1 Shake for carry out. Did I want him to make another one? I told him never mind just give me my money back because I had to get home as my husband had to leave for work and I couldn’t make him late waiting for another Shake to be made. He then said that I never paid for anything yet!! I beg to differ!! He picked up a receipt on the counter where there were several and said, this is for one Shake and has not been paid. I told the manager that I had now waited a total of over 15 minutes including time in drive line and waiting at counter. Of course the girl who rang me up had disappeared into the back. To me this was the most disrespectful action on the part of steak and shake representatives. I have had several instances lately that leaves me less than happy and so tonight was the last straw! In checking this locations Facebook page I see that there is no longer a way to post a review, I don’t wonder why they took that ability away, because all reviews that I found on this location in the past three months is negative! I will no longer patronize this location. There are other restaurants in the area that we can visit and spend our money. I plan to make sure anyone I know will hear of this. It is high time that corporate looks into this place, with so many negative reviews taking place your establishment is getting a very negative image. The staff tend to be slim, noncating, lazy, no disrespectful in how they deal with customers. Too bad because I worked in the restaurant industry for many years both table service and fast food establishments and can state with certainty that we were not permitted to be this type of staff. Places that do not treat the customer with adequate respect or at the minimum, friendliness, go out of business around here, so I foresee this place eventually losing what following they do have if things don’t begin to improve.

I’m emailing you today to let you know a few concerning details of one of your Steak n’ Shake locations. Being a business man of your stature I think you would like to know how you businesses are doing.I myself would want to know these things if were my company. I visit Steak n’ Shake’s fairly frequently and for the most part they are managed decently. I visited the Steak n’ Shake in Ft.Pierce Florida this past week and it was in very bad condition,from being dirty to the staff and the food. As I pulled in the parking lot to the location it didn’t look busy. There was trash in the parking lot I noticed first. As my family and I walked in we stood and waited for over 10 mins to be noticed and seated,there were only 6 other people in the restaurant. The staff was in the back making jokes and not aware at all of anyone coming in. As we were seated and handed our menus mine had spilled milkshake all over it,table was dirty and waitress had a bad attitude.Again we waited another 10 mins or so before a waitress came by to take our drink order,buy then we knew what we wanted. I ordered the breakfast meal with eggs over easy, my wife ordered a fricso melt/no Swiss cheese and my daughter had the single steak burger meal. I went to the men’s restroom to wash my hands the entire floor was slippery as I walked thru restaurant almost like it had been mopped with a greasy mop . As I walked in restroom was a huge mess,I’ve never seen a restroom that nasty in a restaurant in my life. It dident look like it had been cleaned in a week or more. Trash cans over flowing, urin stained puddle under the urinal, toilet filthy, sink dirty,mirrior dirty, both paper towel machines dident work. It was disgusting! I went and sat back at my table as my wife went to the restroom. When she returned she said that the woman’s room was a nasty mess as well. We waited 30 mins finally our food came out, my eggs were scrambled(I asked for over easy) and when I mentioned it to the waitress she replied”he don’t know what that mean,we can’t cook them like that”! My wife’s frisco she ordered with no Swiss had Swiss on it, my daughters order was right but the tomato was bad on it. I couldn’t believe they had a cook working that had no idea how to fry an egg over easy. The actual picture on menu was a fried egg over easy. The staff was one of the worse I’ve ever seen anywhere. They didn’t act like they cared one bit about anything they did. They were just all in the back laughing and carrying on not worried about any customers in the restaurant and were very unprofessional and rude. I just know that I would never return to a restaurant after a visit like that. I know you run huge companies sir, and this might not mean much to you but I believe in hiring the right persons for the job. That location needs a makeover in all positions from what I could see. I visited the Steak and Shake in Bradenton, Fl on Sunday 3/26. Shame on them. The place was wreck; at least 6 workers just standing around as the Only waitress was running and then left. Our order was taken after 15 minutes and then we were still waiting 35 minutes later. We saw 8 customers walk out before we also decided to leave also. As we were leaving I heard the apparent “manager” tell a new customer that they could have a seat but it would be 45 min before they would get a burger. Why would you allow this to stay in business? I’ll Never go back and will tell everyone I know also. What a horrible experience!

I, at this very moment, am sitting in the Steak ‘n Shake in Pearland,Texas. I have been in MANY of your locations and I have NEVER seen a location one as trashed as this one. ALL but 3 tables were dirty and only 2 tables were occupied. The commode in the women’s restroom was pretty clean, but that is the only good thing I can say about the area. The counter was covered in soap and the floor was littered with toilet paper.
The service is definitely lacking also. What a total disappointment.

There is something terribly wrong with the Steak and Shake on Jungermann Rd in St Peters, Mo.
I see it is the managers fault.
Every item of food was totally COLD. I thought it was funny that there was no line at this time (5:00PM) and the car in front of me got their food almost when they pulled up to the window.
The same happened to me. My food was ready almost immediately. How can this be when the food is prepared fresh when ordered???
Both hamburgers were COLD with a COLD piece of cheese clearly added. The SAME with the Hot Dog AND French Fries!! Everything tastes Old and COLD right from an expired food bin most fast food places use.

Tonight I visited the Steak ‘n Shake off of Broad St. in Athens. While trying to complete my order a “Manager” by the name of Eddie yelled for a particular worker to come out side. As the “Manager” walked past an overwhelming odor of alcohol stifled me. As he and the employee both reached the door the “Manager” pushed the employee out of the door as spouted obsenities. The employee, visibly shaken tried to walk away and back into the building but the “Manager” blocked his path. I recieved my order and exited through the door they both had exited only to hear some of the most vulgar language I’ve ever heard spoken by someone who is supposedly in a supervisors capacity. I visit this location frequently and was taken aback by what I witnessed. I pray that something is done to correct this behavior on the part of the manager. I could not have remained as calm as the employee did given the situation. I’m more than sure that you all hold your “Managment” to a higher standard.

drive thru , First time 15 mins and 2nd time 20 mins this time went in side to speak to the manager he said there was two orders ahead of mine in side I was in the drive thru ; He was not very nice so I asked for the money back I will not go back until something happens is done. beside you have to wait in line till someone ahead of you gets thier food

I am sitting in the steak and shake on stringtown road as i am typing this. We decided to grab a brownie sundae. Got here at 9:45pm and not busy. Tables were dirty and because i asked for a booth and it needed cleaned off she took her time (7mins) to clean it off. Then the table and seat were soaked. Oh and she used towels from the dispenser in the back and with just water (health dept would love that). We ordered sodas and the sundae. Took 15 mins to get it. I am now waiting for a check (10:18pm). As we are waiting a party came in and their drinks were served to them out of a cup holder for the dish washer (was disgusting looking) not a clean new one. The floor under my table, and the others is full of trash and my feet are sticking to the floor. (10:27pm) still no check. Again we only had a sundae… Uh oh, 10:29 she asked if we were ok and we asked for the check. And if i was diabetics, buy giving me a coke instead of the diet i asked for i could be ill right now. I do not normally write these. Actually i never have. But i come here about 3 times a month and this by far is the worst visit i have had at any restaurant. Now standing at the cash register…. Waiting… Manager asked for someone to get on cash.. No one came so he did. Now this explains it all. Management doesnt set expectations. He just does it. Very much seen.

We ate at your Watseka location Wed March 15th. Two hours after dropping my elderly mother off she became VIOLENTLY ILL. She has not eaten anything until we ate at your restaurant at 10:45. She became so Ill I had to rush her to doctors where they diagnosed her with food poisoning. I called the watseka steak n shake to let them know and told them what she had eaten. I wanted to let them know so someone else wouldn’t get sick from the taco salad. They apologized and stated head corporate would contact us. They never called and we called them back today. The manager was EXTREMELY RUDE and stated there’s no way it was food poisoning because it hits 24 hours later. Which is not correct. I’m upset, if you had seen the condition my elderly mother was in you would understand. We eat at your restaurant twice a month. My husband, our five children, and our parents. We will not be back! I was just letting you know and your rude manager blew it!!! I’m sure your Watseka restaurant will be able to see our comments on social media!

Stop yesterday at your location on Lumsden in Brandon Florida order two shakes and is was the worst shake I had because my wife and I still sick after 24 hours lately this store is having problems in cleaningless and customer service I went giving them anotherc chance but that’s it no more because before it happen with food and customer service beside manager attire yesterday he looks sloppy and employees in cell phones and when shakes where brought employee had cups on her chest since didn’t touch inside I said ok but what a big mistake that was I will not go back and will not recommended to nobody.

Well, been currently waiting here for almost 40 minutes order has been taken and that’s all, no lemon asked twice, no crayons for my daughter, no silverware either. Waitress seemed a bit rude, the editor didn’t even knots so to wait on first I had to tell him who to wait on first, brought my food not happy at all. Forgot my daughters fries and my husband had done hard chunk of so called cheese on his burger, very disjointed never will I come here again if it weren’t for my daughter being hungry u would have already left and honestly should have. This placed should be shut down. Good is the steak and shake located at cassopoloss in elkhart indiana, i just walked out to food was cold and taste old after an almost hour wait and weren’t even busy

I have been a constant customer of your store in Wellington #553. I frequent this store at least 3-4 days a week.But over the past few months have been very disturbed by what I have been hearing and observing.exspecially Saturdays and Sundays.cosident yelling and screaming coming from the kitchen for hrs making it almost unbearable and uncomfortable to enjoy your meal.on Saturday February 4 as I went in for my lunch. The restaurant was at full capacity.So I decided to eat at the usual I was greeted by your very pleasant host then server.within 10 mins the loud screaming and yelling started.treating the staff less than human appalling treating them in such a demeaning manner. I could not figure out what they were yelling at.all your staff were working so hard. The host was constantly doing 5 jobs at once being so pleasant to staff and customers.the kitchen were hard working consistently on I asked the cook who was constantly screaming Everytime I come in there mostly on the weekends.And was very disturbed to find out that it was the GM.of the store.the reason this day was the final draw for me to I was finishing my meal I observed that the screaming and yelling at moved tward the back of the restaurant.were I observed your GM taking the same demeaning additude with one of your most pleasant managers.bringing her to tears and out the back door Lorie. It was most delightful as I walked in this morning and saw that she was still there.any Corporate office and company should make sure that their customers have a great dinning experience.And that the staff and other managers are treated with respect and acknowledge for their hard work.And not consistently treated in such a disrespectful and rude demeaning manner.

My family and I decided to order online from the Steak’n Shake in Sterling Heights, Mi, this evening. No problem with the online ordering…. Then we drove the 6 minutes to the store to pick up our order. That’s when the issues began.
I went straight to the counter where it says “carry out”. The girl at the register was busy cashing people out. I made eye contact with someone in the kitchen wearing a white shirt whom I thought to be a manager since he was the only one not wearing black. And I stood there. And stood there. And stood there.
The girl at the register finished her last paying customer and rushed to her section. I noticed 3 other servers standing at the, I’m guessing their beverage stand, and talking to one another and not doing anything. If it wasn’t for the fact that I paid online, I would have just left.
Some girl finally came up to ask if anyone had helped me. My response to her was “not a soul”. She got our order that was ready.
I checked the bag and my slaw was missing, so she got that. I noticed one of our fries was all dumped in the bag, but I waited enough and left.
My husband and I drive back home and I put the straws in our shakes. I noticed how thin the shakes were. Was that the first thing they did?? That shouldn’t be made until the end or once the person gets there. The whipped cream melted and the shakes were actually a little warm.
We get home. I take out all the items and fish out the fries from the bottom for one of the orders. I noticed they felt cold. My daughters and husband all said their fries, burgers and chicken were cold. I had a club and onion rings and I was lucky, they were slightly warm.
My husband said the McDonald’s meal he had the week prior was 10x’s better.
I have never been so disappointed in a meal. What really got me though was the waiting once I got there. I made eye contact with people and was still ignored. That to me is just inexcusable.

Getting off from work and hungry like most at 11 pm so I decided to stop….. WHO WANTS A COLD BURGER is what the 24hr sign should have said! I went to the Sardis Rd location in Charlotte NC and WAITED for hot fries and VERY COLD burger to point the cheese wasn’t melted! Didnt realize it until I reached home because my fries were hot so I figured the burger would too! Love the food but not everyone loves serving it!

I did report this and spoke to someone in the corporate office and am waiting for a return call in which they said I should be recieving…my experience was so bad and so shocking and caused me to go hungry I feel theneed to share with others…on 01/20/17 my boyfriend and myself who are in our late 40’s..both have terminal illnesses and are on disability was having a hard time sleeping..both of us was hungry..a rare thing sometimes with our we discussed what was open..what was affordable seeing we are both on a very limited income and must follow a budget..we determined we had our last difteen dollars to spare to eat..I wasnt getting paid till the 1st and he was gonna be paid in two days. We both wanted something hot to eat and our stove was on the we decided on Steak and Shake..we looked up the menu online and both was drooling over the pictures and got filled with much anticipation of what we wanted on the menu! Yes it was 3:00 in the we wasnt drinking or any other mood altering things ..just both really hungry..not wanting to get fully dressed and after all the pictures Steak and Shake was rhe answer. We could go through drive thru come home and have a little feast..We hop in thecar and drove 20 minutes for this choice..a little far but thought well worth it to have some of those yummy fries and burgers and of course a shake…how wrong we was…we pulled up to the drive thru onlynot to be greeted…silence nothing…so we used patience..we asked if anyone was with several cars behind us we decided to proceed to the window…employees kept walking by…even looked directly at us..we was waving to them…we knocked..the window was slightly ajarred so my boyfriend yelled out hello..hello..someone yells back goodbye!!! Its says 24 hours..he said we asked if he could take our order..he replied he was new employyee and he didnt know really what to do so we asked to speak to someone who could or management..he said you would be better tocome in…we explained we wasnt dressed for that and thats why we chose the drive thru…he walks away slamming the window..we wasnt sure what to do..both still very hungry and spending gas money to get there decided to wait a little more…more cars are now lined up behind us..finally a woman with no name tag coomes to window and says yea what do you want..very rudely..i said well if you ahve time and its not a bother we would like to order food then explained how we got no reponse at the order here spot..she says whatever ….iur f*cking drive thru person walked out so waht do you want me to do..i asked to order food again and speak to management she reponded again i said i would take your f*cking order..we was boyfriend manage to stumble out his order asked a question of price difference of combo with or with out drink in which she replied well of course the sh*t will be cheaper without drink..i then told her my order but before i could finish because i wanted to add cheese on side for fries and chili on side for fries she slammed the door..opened it again spitting out a number and slammed it again..well i wasnt done i still wanted to order a chili 5 way that we could reheat for next day since stove was on the fritz and of course we wanted milkshakes..well when she opened the window and we asked told her we wasnt done ordering she said OMG and rolled her eyes at us..i told her nevermind..i was so taken back i thought she might spit in our shakes so lets just get what we ordered..then the price didnt seem right..we asked for reciept and she said it was thrown away already but yet we hadnt got our change yet..she did give that to us and my boyfriend was still complaining to me he really had wanted cheese..she heard said ..i swear..slammed thedoor came back threw a chhese in a small container at us and said there..its free ok??? We was just speechless..i had the phone out and you bet i called tthe coporate number..well as we are waiting to be answered we checked our sandwich which was a patty melt was even cut in half like you see it is on menu and evey time i have ordered in past has been was pink in middle and had no sauted favorite part…my boyfriends burger the western had no bbq or bacon..isnt that what makes it a western? It also was it was done on also wasnt cooked all the way through..i love a juicy burgerbut with my cancer and immune system same as my boyfriend we have to be safe with a cooked through burger…the fries..oh the fries..was cold..nonot like sitting awhile cold but still slightly frozen!! Raw potato like … ketchup and salt..we napkins..we asked and now non edible food..we was already half way home and really didnt want to see these people again nor did we have the i said we have a very tight budget..we didnt get our 5 way of course because she never allowed us to finish our milk shakes for us….and now food we could not even eat..we had to go hungry…still am for that was the last of our budget..we pull over and after reporting to coporate we called the actual steak and shake not wanting to but wanting to one would answer..we gave up..i took pictures of the food but cant see a place to download them..I want my money back..thay can have their food here i sit next day..insulted..hungry and very angry…This store was in Merritt Island Florida..we arrived at 3:12..left at 3:35 being food to really wat..what money we had left was not enough for us to go elsewhere and very angry and sad..for i love steak and shake and i just dont know if i will ever return..yes they tookmy complaint but have yet to hear anything..I dont know of i should call day management myself or wait to hear…sure dont help my belly now. I have nevermind in my life had such horrible service or food thrown my way..I have been in hospitality business 18 years previously @nd just amm in shock…i would like to say i feel better afyer venting..I dont

Myself and family members have had bad experiences at that location same little man. Items missing from orders, not preparing orders as requested and no apology or just plain common courtesy. He is rude and tries to intimidate customers and his staff. I’m sure this is not what this company wants to be remembered by. Never a smile welcome to Steak n Shake always grumpy and sarcastic. There where 4 group that came in after us they all left so we followed . My kid wanted your food so I pulled into the drive in there where two cars in front of us we waited 25 min to get to the window. She came to the window and took my money gave us our food minus the drinks 3 shake we ate the meal at the window before getting the shake . I will not be back. That’s so sorry service !!!!

Please consider offering a no sugar added milkshake to your menu; a plain vanilla would be sufficient. We attend the restaurant in Montrose, Ohio quite frequently, sometimes just my husband and I, and sometimes with friends. It is very difficult for diabetics to watch others enjoy, and ohhh and awwww over how good your milkshakes are, while many of us have to sit and watch. Thank you for your consideration!

The wife and I came through the drive through today for dessert! She is pregnant and really wanted an Oreo milkshake. I wanted just something simple like a strawberry milkshake. My shake was fine but tasted artificial. My wife couldn’t even drink hers because she said it tasted like plastic and something else I’m not gonna repeat. I tried it and won’t argue with how it tasted. Had to throw it away and visit a competitor for an Oreo blizzard. Very annoyed and disappointed

I will be contacting my lawyer monday. My husband mike phelps an employee at the muncie store was thought to be having a heart attact and was sent to the ER by ambulance. And then your gm Evan Whitten continued on with his business. He did not notify any family member, No one from his contact list in case of an emergency, and in his confused state my husband could not give the hospital any info. There was no one to sign consent forms or give the hospital any information needed because no one was notified he was there. He was just sent and left there alone. Is there a new law where family or someone, anyone doesn’t have to be notified there was an incident and your family member was sent to ER by ambulance? I am pissed someone will deal with this matter now.

This Steak n Shake at 2545 E. Hwy50 here in Clermont, Florida has one person there that is ignorant as hell. He wants to be a manager so bad but he doesn’t want to take what comes along with it. Thursday night 01/12/2017 HE was throwing things in the back area because he had to work extra because of a family emergency that had come up. So he gets mad and close the store down for a couple hours causing a Server to quit cause he closed the store. His name is Anthony and he’s sorry as hell. He really needs to quit trying to be what he can’t handle, cause he’s definitely not management material.

I was working on 11-19-2016 when i fell in a pile of vomit that the server amy was aware of being on the floor and instead of cleaning it or putting a wet floor sign done she went and took a customers order it was her customer that vomitted on the floo when i fell on my back with witnesses i yelled out in pain and said what was that tal the GM took me in the back and told me to lower my voice and stop yelling there are customers in the restraunt i informed him i just fell in vomit while I was seeting a customer and it hurt he did not ask if I was ok he just told me to lower my voice and walked away from me he never filled out a incident report did not send me for any tests i went to th hosp monday because my pain was getting worse i had 2 broken ribs and back pain the hosp gave me medicine i showed tal my test result and informed him of the back pain i had no intention of going on wrk comp i just wanted to do my job unfortunately my back got worse the day before my back and leg finally gave out i had to go home early i could bately walk i wet home Tuesday took medicine and went back wed i told kelly i was going to have to leave early that my back and leg was in severe pain she told me i coud be off someone would be there soon as i was walking i got a severe pain in my leg up my back and into my brain i fell down and blacked out i came to very confused i could not stand up my leg wouldn’t work had to go to the hospital in ambulance i could not walk or sit up on my buttocks it hurt so bad i was bedrirren for almost a week before I could finally use the crutches witch i stillhaveto use to walk i am very disappointed in tal the GM for not taking the appropriate steps and filling out the appropriate paper work and sending me for testing i cannot work on crutches i was no going to try to get work comp the only reason i have to do this is because I never healed and got worse maybe if he did the right thing in the beginning i wouldn’t have to go through this know i have many compliments on my record i worked for this company for a long time ive always been loyal and have done every thing asked of me ive worked 6&7days a week when asked what really hurt me was not one manager or eve TalGM ever checked to see if i wa ok

I went to the steak and shake on Kirkwood road in Kirkwood Missouri which is in st Louis county. Very unprofessional. At 6.10 am woker said he did not know how to do breakfast. He said the manager was in their car on the parking lot. I would have to wait. This is very poor customer service.

Wow! Worst ever. Restaurant was # 277 in Florida. Sign at front should read please wait to be ignored. Bathrooms were filthy, floors greasy, wait staff and management could care less. Food safety, well there wasn’t any that I could see. Management didn’t wear hair restraints while handling orders. Steak n shake executives should be embarrassed and ashamed.

On December 31 while visiting the Steak n Shake on Wabash Ave in Springfield IL I was having lunch and ice cream with my two children who are five and eight. We had a nice lunch the food and service were good. Late into our meal a family sat down at the table next to us. Mom, Dad and three or four kids all sitting down, just a few seconds after sitting down my daughter who was sitting in the chair close to their table got out of her seat to pick up something they had dropped. She was doing nothing more than trying to be a helpful kid. What she picked up was a full clip from a 38 caliber semiautomatic pistol this man must have been carrying as a conceal carry. If this man is this careless with his back up clips, how careless is he with his firearm? He was not only putting my children in danger, but also putting his own family in danger. I talked with the manager about it as we were leaving, told him what had happened. The manager was clearly very concerned almost horrified over what had happened, and clearly understood my concern. I explained that if something like that is going to happen and the restaurant is going to continue to allow guests to carry firearms I will not be returning. This man was not only putting his children and my children at risk but was putting the entire restaurant in danger in how he was handling his firearm. So until the signs are placed not allowing firearms at all of your Illinois stores we will not return to Steak n Shake. We have enjoyed the food, and it is a favorite for both of my children, but I am not willing to risk the lives of two children for lunch.

On. Dec.26,2016, my 15 yr old granddaughter took her little brother,age 6, to lunch at the Galesburg,Il. Steak & Shake. They stood for over 5 mins. Before being greeted and seated.There they sat at least 20 minutes before an older male waiter came to their table,as he handed them the menus,he told them sorry he was so slow today,but he was just so hungover from a late night,etc..after they placed their order,it was another 20plus minutes to get their food,,my granddaughter called me on her cell,I told her to complain when she paid her bill,which she did,and was told..well..ok..the manager talked to the waiter,who then aplogized & was sent home for the day..I appreciate the fact that the manager took control of the situation,just because they are kids does not make it right to treat them as less than an adult granddaughter was treating her little brother to lunch with Christmas money she could have spent on herself…& they were not causing any trouble,they should have been treated as any customer should be.

I’m not sure if this is the correct place for this but I feel the need to tell someone about my experience today. So I go and pick up my boyfriend from work and take him to lunch at the Steak n Shake in Duluth, Ga No: 607. We walked in the door and it took a good 5 minutes to even be greeted. Once we sat down our waitress ask us to give her just a moment and she would be back to take our drink order and such. Not long after she came back and we order both our drinks and food. She brought back our drinks and about 10 minutes or so later brought the two burgers we ordered (food is always really good) when she gave us our burgers she told us that the salad that my boyfriend ordered was still being prepared and she would bring it as soon as it was ready. So we ate our burgers and fries. Our waitress after 40 minutes of our initial order came back with a salad and when we asked for the check and a To go box she brought them both but just kind of slammed it down on the table and walked off. After that kind of service I will probably never return to another one of your stores. My boyfriend was 30 minutes late getting back to work because once we got ready to pay no one was at the counter taking money…. we almost walked out. The store wasn’t even busy. You lost probably a good 16-20 customers because they stood at the door for 10-15 minutes without being acknowledged. I won’t give my hard earned money to a place of business that lacks this horribly in customer service. I’m sure this won’t change anything because this isn’t the first store I’ve been to where the wait for anything is outrageous. But because I love the food we gave it another try. I’m really wishing we would have went somewhere else now.

As you know various restaurants offer a little something on their customers birthday, like Denny’s gives a free Grandslam by varifing your birth date from your drivers license ID. I think that their should be some kind of insensitive from Steak-n-Shake in providing your birthday shake as a customer appreciation on their birthday right? I am a security guard for one of your restaurants in Indianapolis. I stand by the cash register with a full view of the kitchen area. The sheer amount of cross contamination from blatant disregard for food safety is sickening! The store is a absolute cesspool. The employees are rude, unhygienic and lazy. The employees routinely use drugs on the property. One of the many examples of the disregard for extreme unsanitary conditions: 20161127 around 3am An employee was playing with a ball of raw meat throwing it at the over night manager repeatedly picking it up the floor with gloves one and re-throwing it. After the manager was done with the play time the employee attempted to get the ball of raw meat to stick to the ceiling. Then reaching into where the cookies are stored with the same gloves one and retrieveing cookies for a customer. There are way to many incidents to list off. This disgusting behavior and practices has caused me to refuse to eat at steak and shake locations I know to be clean and hygienic. This location needs so serious, serious help!

I live in Sun City Center, FL. a 55 and older community. The closest Steak and Shake is is Brandon, FL, 25 miles away. (These cities are suburbs of Tampa, FL)
As a senior going 25 miles for a meal is not something we want to do. we really do enjoy patronizing in our own community. We have nothing like Steak and Shake in our city. Might you consider expanding and open a restaraunt in Sun City Center? Thank you for reading my request.

I went to steak and shake to get some food for me and my oldest daughter through a drive thru. My mom is old with a cold, my oldest daughter is not feeling well, and my baby is teething. I am just getting over a cold and tired from cleaning house. Also tired from staying up with a teething daughter. Well, we are all excited to get our food from the drive through and my daughter had a coupon. We are sitting there while being blown off by the girl in the window and when I handed her the coupon she rolled her eyes at me like I wouldn’t notice. I kept my mouth shut and handed her the money while she handed me the drinks. When she finally handed us the food my burger had cheese and mayo on it. I told her no cheese and mayo at the speaker and my daughter even told me she heard me tell her TWICE. So she apologizes after I told her NO CHEESE and NO MAYO. She brings back the burger. Now it had been fifteen minutes and my baby is fussy because she is teething and hungry. I check my burger and it has mayo on it. Ugh. The hole time she was standing there with her fellow employees talking about the walking dead both times while our food was being made. The lady behind me was getting mad. BTW I did not want any extra friggin fries, I just wanted my order without any attitude. So she rolls her eyes at me again so I proceeded to park my car and went inside to talk to the manager. I was loud because I was upset at the disrespect me and my family received from the employees from Steak and Shake in Greensboro, North Carolina at 2647 Lawndale Dr in the same shopping center at Targets. The manager is a rude white man who told me to calm down. I told him he doesn’t have the right to tell me what to do and that his employees need to work more and slack off less. He cut me off as I was trying to tell him about the rude eye rolls from the girl in the window and threatened to call the cops. I asked for my money back which should have been ten dollars. He only gave me four dollars. Needless to say I will never eat there ever again!

Saturday around 10:30, my wife and I went to the Steak and Shake on SR 220 in Fleming Island. Our server, Tristan, was great. While waiting for our order, the cook, Matt was having a bromance with a customer instead of doing his job. One set of customers stood at the register about 5 minutes before being taken care of. Another table with six people were waiting for their food when we sat down. When they finally got their food, the server had to go back three time to get it corrected. We overheard the customers complaining that their food was cold. After a long wait, my wife and I decided to leave, it had been 15 minutes. Just as we stood up, a server, not Tristan, brought us our food. We asked to speak to the manager and she went to get him. While waiting again, my wife inspected her food. The bacon was cold and the eggs were not completely cooked. I finally had to go get the manager myself. When we showed him the food and told him how disgusted we were, he mumbled something we could not understand and walked to the back. We let since we had all the Steak and Shake experience we could handle.

My suggestions. Fire Matt, his cooking is horrible. Promote Tristan, he was working non-stop. Get the manager some more training, as well as communication skills.

We will not be back!!

We had a horrible experience with the food we got a couple weeks ago. the order was not right, the lettuce on the burger was old and nasty, the hamburger had no flavor, and the cheese wasn’t even melted since the burger was not very warm. store at 7510 W 63rd ST Overland Park Ks , tried to find a corporate number to complain, no luck, so, settled for this complaint form. needless to say will NOT go back.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of the S&S brand. Our family narrative via my mother is that I had my first Steakburger in 1949. Growing up in St. Louis the brand played a big part in my life as a teenager “cruisin’ Steak” as we used to say.

As an adult I moved to the South and only during home visits did I get to enjoy those wonderful burgers. Some years ago while living in Nashville I learned that you had opened a unit in Dickson Tennessee along I-40. Once per week we would drive the hundred mile round trip to enjoy my favorite burger. That said, I wish to report a horrible Steak & Shake experience on July 31st.

My wife and I and son and his wife were returning from a weekend on our boat at Center Hill Lake. At approximately 8:30 we stopped in to enjoy a Steakburger at the unit located at 5006 Crossings Circle in Mt. Juliet Tennessee. Immediately upon entering I noticed something that just didn’t seem right. There were probably six customers and every table in the place was un-bussed. There was a young male employee simply standing there looking at the mess. He turned and walked away and during the hour plus that we were in the restaurant neither he nor anyone else bussed the tables.

After waiting for an inordinate amount of time, I have no idea why our server took so long to address us, she finally came up and asked for our drink order and left menus. Another long wait and she came back and took our order. We waited and waited and I was about to get up and leave when she came back and asked if there was a problem. I told her that we ordered 30 minutes ago and that this wasn’t like any experience we have ever had at S&S. She rolled her eyes and without saying a word turned and walked away. Several minutes later she brought our semi-warm food. We asked for napkins and utensils, and she rolled her eyes again and returned with napkins only.

During this entire episode there was a seriously bad leak in the roof. Water was pouring in and onto the floor. They had a couple of trashcans catching some of the water but there was still water all over the floor. At no time did anyone seems to try to adjust the location of the trashcans and the filthy floor was wet and dangerous.

About the server: Her uniform was filthy. I’m not talking about a hard and busy day at work messy but rather, an, I haven’t washed my uniform in weeks filthy. I ordered my usual Orange Freeze to go and a check and we waited and waited and finally got up and went to the cashier. She was the cashier. I was so mad by this time that I asked my wife to pay. The waitress had to be reminded twice during the transaction that we ordered two Orange Freezes.

My wife used her debit card to pay. Our bill was $18.62 and she saw that the woman had rung up and had approved a $25.00 charge. My wife pointed this out to the woman and she didn’t seem to understand why my wife would mention it. She tried to steal from us. When my wife finally came out and got into the car she handed be my Orange Freeze. The first thing I noticed was that my freeze wasn’t frozen and in fact, wasn’t even cold. I threw it on the sidewalk.

I am writing to let you know about this situation for the reasons stated above. I wanted you to know about this so that you might have the opportunity to fix it.

The place is so dirty and service is so slow,1 of the employees shirt WAS so filthy he looks like he’s homeless. Everything in there is filthy.i love the food but probably will stop going because of appearance and service BAD BAD BAD.

Went to the Steak N Shake on Orange Blossom Trail tonight #433, this was the worst and longing service we have ever had, there were 6 adults and 4 kids and the server was not attentive at all, A man in our party had ordered the platter with a salad, well he never got his salad, could not get refills on our drinks, when all the food came out was not the way they were ordered, when I went to order a milkshake it took over 30 minutes and when I went to talk with the manager, his reaction, was he did not care at all, he had our server learning on the register instead of taking care of his customers, then he had another one training and the line to check out was into the dining area, he should have just taken over at the point and handled it, but he didn’t. We were in there over 1 and a half hours to eat hamburgers, something wrong with this store, you need to check into it

Went into the Eastgate,Cincinnati store on Clepper lane. The management is asleep at the wheel. This was the dirtiest restaurant I’ve been in a long time. The bathrooms had toilet paper on the floor and there were dead bugs and filth in the corners of the bathroom floors. The ketchup bottle were sickening old ketchup around the neck of the bottles. We had waited about 30 minutes then tried to get it to go because we had a time limit I stood there and watched the exact burgers (2 double cheese plain) we ordered go to a lady for the drive thru customers she put lettuce and all the fixings in about 10 of those and threw them in a bag. And after about 45 minutes total I surrendered and left. I was shocked to see one guy making all the plates for the dining room customers. How the heck is this possible? One person making what 60-75 plates of food with occasional help from the lady who made all the burgers for drive thru between orders. I observed the floor and noticed there was food and gloves and paper all over the floor in the back and under the counters was real bad I don’t think your employees know how to bend and reach with a broom. It was 1 pm in the afternoon on Friday, why was there no help ?? It’s no wonder the employees looked miserable no one smiled and I mean no one. Something is wrong in this place. There is a negative vibe through out. There needs to be more cooks or better procedures.

So, using website contact does not work for me. I also called the 877 number, and spoke with Stephanie. She tried to find the address, but she had none listed either.

It seems you do not want my comment, which was a good one. However, after all the trouble I have had trying to send it forth, I don’t think as much of Steak and Shake’s policies.

My husband and I went to the 1520 Ogden Ave
Downers Grove, IL 60515 location yesterday evening. There was only one person in line in front of us to order take out. After we placed our order, we waited nearly 30 minutes. My husband asked a server if he could cancel the order. The server said he would get a manager. In the meantime at least 10-15 cars went through the drive thru.

When the manager (Manny) came to the counter, he didn’t want to cancel the order. We said that we had waited too long and wanted to cancel. He finally cancelled the order, but was being extremely rude. When we said we were going to let corporate know, he said, “Go ahead, they will take my side anyway.” He went on then to tell us to “Get out of his restaurant”.

I have never seen such poor customer service in any establishment.

Not sure if this is the right department, but this is the only place I found to email without being a customer. I was ask to help run lead at the # 255 store which I went and did from 11am to about 6:30 pm and left after being threatened by a employee. Was to work from 11am to 9 pm. Because I knew nothing would be done about it. about it. I transfer from this store a few weeks ago because of things like this, because I was told that nothing could be done about it. Because they are short handed, and that karma would deal with people like that. I am not one to complain about a lot of things, BUt to be called foul names and to have a 16 year old boy threaten me because i was trying to fix a mistake he made taking a order, and I was not doing fast enough or the way he thought i should do it. was just to much. If you decide yo follow through and contact me. I will be more then glad to give you any more information you need. The young mans name is Brandon don’t know his last name.

I-75 exit 321 is horrible! i went through the drive thru ordered a double cheese burger,small fries and a regular classic shake. My burger had to many pickles. The pickles were extremely juicy and they were slimy witch made my bun soaked in pickles, i had only one patty not two. My fries were so greasy they made a puddle in my hand and they were under cooked. I ordered a chocolate shake it was half empty, tasted like a banana and chocolate ice cream Popsicle and it took 27 minutes get it for i could be on my way and i asked the lady for a receipt never go one she said it was in the bad that was the cheat that the people in the kitchen have to see for they can make your order. I will never eat at a stake and shake again.

Im writting to say how disgusted i was when i ate a milkshake from your Raleigh location on Duraleigh rd. First off the milk shake was melted it was like i was drinkin milk. I ordered an oreo milkshake so of course it has chunks of oreos in it but there was something else in it. I was drinking it an bit a piece of something that tasted nothing like an oreo. So i cautiously drank the rest finding more of these pieces of god knows what. So i spat them out an took pics of how disgusting it looked. Idk if someone didnt clean the milkshake machine correctly or what but it was disgusting. So i called the store and ask to speak to a manager and the girl told me she wasnt available so i just told about my issue and she like yeah other things can get in the milkshake sometimes from other milkshakes. Then she said it might have been an almond or pretzel. What if i had a food allergy and really got sick from this mistake of poor sanitation. You would have a major lawsuit on your hands. But she told me she would get her GM to call me back. Lets see if that happens.

106 Cortez Rd W, Bradenton, FL 34203 this has got to be the worst restaurant for Steak n Shake we have ever been to. Needs to be shut down. We had flies under our table. The floor was disgusting and slimy. When checking out we saw flies all in the kitchen. We will never be back. I suggest no one goes there. I can only hope we don’t get sick from it. The food was brought to us not even hot.

I don’t really know why I keep going back,I guess I think it will get better but not there a little after 11am to beat the rush which we did ,only probably 6 other customers besides us,took our order and waited and waited 25 mins. for food plus more people coming in and wondering where in the h is our food then I seen platter of food at window which I knew it was ours and it sat there for 5 mins.before she brought it out and there was other waitresses that were not busy who could of brought it to our table obviously your management training needs a overhaul or else they just don’t give a sh….I am done with stake and shake your not the only game in town

Didn’t get out food after 45 minutes of waiting with 2 hungry boys.
Everyone around us who came in after us got their food AND the table next to us got our food.
Went through the drive through and had our order in 6 minutes.
Never coming to any steak and shake again.

This evening I visited the Deerfield Ohio location after much hesitation. Having gone through the drive through I had to wait roughly ten minutes to place my order. One car in front of me and very few cars in the parking lot. While placing my order the women over speaker was incredibly rude. She continuously talked over me she was talking to who I am assuming are her co workers. I heard her talk about my car. The way it sounded and looked. Once I went to window to pay I tried to look at her name tag however it appeared as though she was trying to hide her name.

You really need to surprise visit this location in Englewood Ohio. I have been there a lot in the past, but will no longer go back after today’s experience. We ordered three shakes to go. After seeing the couple that ordered after me get their shakes first, I decided after 20 minutes that I had enough.. 5 Workers just standing around doing nothing when they should have been able to turn out 3 shakes almost immediately as they were not busy at all. Read the yelp and Google reviews on this location and it will tell you everything you need to know. I was a big fan of steak and shake but no longer. Sad to say but this location is giving you a black eye.

It has been several weeks now since my family stopped in to your Lewisville Texas location. I can comprehensively say that there was very little chance that anyone would return after watching the employees handle their jobs.

I took the time to take a picture of an employee who was so grotesque that the picture needed to be taken. It appeared that he wears the same shirt to work every day and has not washed it or changed it out since he began working there. His smell was so awful that we asked another employee to please deliver our food.

After watching the entire kitchen staff struggle with delivering food to anyone, it became clear that they were simply “snowed”. Incapable of doing their jobs.

The food area was disgustingly dirty and the staff had no hope
In delivering any food.
Customers were lined up complaining and asking for their money back. After 1 hour of waiting and watching one of your cooks throw down his apron and walk out, I asked for my money back.

You guys might want to surprise visit this store on a weekend to see for yourself. If my name was on this franchise, I would take it off immediately before anyone saw how we operate.

Anderson Indiana, SR 109. The service was horrible. Walked in the door and ended up waiting for 35 minutes to be seated and over an hour to receive our order. The 3 times I have been to a steak N shake anywhere has been terrible. Bad show and bad form. How is it that a place like McDonald’s can have better service and better food and not break the bank?

I went to steak and shake on wells rd and i must say this was the worse one i have ever been to . It was a zoo employees cussing playing around listening to music no one seemed to be in charge the waitresses we had seem to be on drugs her name was mandy and we waited over 40 mins to get our food and after that we order shakes and of course we waited another 15 mins for those. We have been going to this one on wells rd orange park Florida and now it seems like a damn circus everytime we go in there . this place is a joke and if anyone actually cared about this business they would fire everyone that was working there tonight our visit was at 8:00 pm we already know nothing will be done because if gets worse and worse

I am a director of customer service for the company I work for. The terrible customer service I experienced, and observed with other customers will make a great case study for my students on what not to do! There was not one thing that happened in the restaurant that was remotely acceptable service.

Hello I spoke to a customer service rep last night after a horrific experience at your Sawgrass mills location in sunrise Florida. The number is #1047799. The lady taking my complaint was very nice. However My family and my experience wasn’t. This location is in my neighborhood so we frequent it many times a year. When we walked in we waited at the “please wait to be seated” sign. A pleasant young man came over to us after about 4 mins. We asked for a booth and he went to check on the dirty booths he had left that had no diners sitting at. People were walking in behind us as we were still waiting to be seated and they were helping themselves to menus and huffing because the wait was long for them also. We finally were seated at a booth and given menus by the nice man and he said someone will be with us soon. Well, about 20 minutes later I tried to flag a waitress down and she stuck her hand up to me and continued to walk towards the kitchen to take care of her own tables food. Then I turned around and noticed that 2 tables that came in behind us already had drinks and orders were taken for they had no menus at table. I have three hungry children with me. They were excited for shakes and their hamburgers etc. but we never got to even speak to a waitress. So I got up to go talk to the manager that we always see there and he’s always a pleasure. I told him the situation and he immediately went to find out what the problem was. This is where things got not so nice. He approached Naja, whom was supposed to be our waitress, the one that NEVER came to our table. And he said to go over to the table to help us. She “sucked” her teeth and looked at me. Then when I saw her attitude I said to him , I’m sorry I don’t think we will be staying. She looks at me and says very loudly “that’s FINE”.i asked her to repeat what she said and the manager advised her not to speak to me. I alerted my children to get up from the table, that still had no waitress attention, to follow me out the door. We were purposefully ignored and other tables were being helped and given food that came in after us that we’re of the same ethnic background as Naja,it seemed because we are of light color that we were ignored. i left the store and came back in for her name to report this to corporate and the manager said “I will take care of it”. I said I would like a name and she DARTED out of the kitchen towards me in a confrontational way, in front of the whole dinning room and pulled her name tag towards my face and very close and said my name is NAJA! I said thank you and as she turned she said ur welcome! I said apparently not! She was short of hitting me and the manager did nothing to prevent her from darting towards me. We weren’t welcome from the moment we walked in. Along with the whole dinning room, my three young girls saw this and were mortified and I will never go back there. I will be contacting an attorney on Monday and consulting with them. My night along with my children’s night was ruined until we went to a restaurant that respected us and graciously took care of us appropriately and with dignity. Unlike Steak and shake in sawgrass.

Just came back from the steak b shake in Texarkana TX. I have eaten in a few restaurants but this is the first time I had to walk up to order. For only having a few customers it took almost 15 minutes to get my food. I noticed a woman eating a salad and finishing it before her companion got her food. I ordered the black rasberry shake and it didn’t have the chocolate chips. I could live with all this but the one thing I was waiting for was the shoestring fries but got limp regular fries . The burger was good but what happened to your trademark fries ???? I could have gone to any other burger place. Not a happy camper.

Stopped in to the local Steak & shake, placed our order and waited for food. Twenty minutes later when we saw other people being served that came in long after us we inquired as to where our order was. another 5 minutes went by when our waitress finally came to tell us she got busy and forgot to place our order with kitchen. Manager called her to do something else. Last time going there for us. Too bad…………

The Delray Beach location totally messed up my drive thru much that I ended up not eating any of my food. I emailed Steak n’ Shake corporate customer service..I never received any response, they never contacted me about the awful service I received. I paid for food that was ruined and incorrect. I will never go back to Steak n’ Shake, they have poor customer service and when they make a mistake they could care less..I tell people all the time about the awful service, bad meal and the fact that they never contacted me after requesting to be contacted… other people I’ve spoken to have had similar experiences. Don’t waste your money eating at any Steak n’ Shake!!!

May 27, 2016 entered S&S on 520 Merritt Island Florida at 10:17 am, settled promptly and 2 other tables settled after us.
No acknowledgement that we were even alive.
Both of the other booths were approached and drink orders taken and delivered. No one made eye contact or acknowledged my husbands raised hand.
We left at 10:44 and no acknowledged that we were leaving. There was 3 employees on smoke break in the parking lot .
I love S&S but I won’t be eating it anymore- I have to drive 18-25 miles to get to one and the service is not good at either one.

My husband, my children, and thier families are long time fans. However over the years I have sent one complaint in, I received a phone call and was told they were sending a refund or gift card or something to that effect. Never saw anything. But that is not why I am posting this.
I am a cancer survivor, and when my niece told me of what happened at the Springfield Campbell store I was beside myself! How dare any manager or employee have the nerve to ask a cancer patients or anyone to leave because they are making someone uncomfortable. I have been in your restaurants when there were people with rings & tattoos on them and felt uncomfortable. Or a child that won’t stop crying. I have watched you cooks touch thier clothing with thier gloves and go right back to cooking and never change them. I have seen thing in you restaurant that would make people never come back, but we did. Well not now! To make someone who is fighting just to live have to fight to be excepted I the last straw for me. That employee and manager should be fired and your managers need to go to sensitivity classes. How dare they treat anyone like that!!!!!!!

I complained and a woman from District office called and apologized and said she would send meal repacement coupons.
Weeks later, have heard nothing.
Long time customer from Springfield Il and St. Louis area, found no response poor customer service.

My family and I stopped at the Bonner Springs Ks location on Sunday August 7th. We waited 10 minutes before we were seated, after another 15 minutes someone finally took our drink order. Needless to say after another 15 minutes another waitress came by and noticed we still had no drinks, she apologized and promptly got them for us..she was a sweetheart and took our order..we waited another 30 minutes and still no order had came. I went up and asked for the manager, he was pretty much clueless to what was going on in the place. He said let me check on that, came back and said I’ll make it myself now, by this time wed been sitting for over an hr. I just told him to cancel the order that we were leaving since we had a 2.5 hr drive home. He said ok whatever, sorry…needless to say this is one place we will not visit again. The only positive thing about this place was the little blonde young lady that is a waitress there..she seemed more concerned about how the service of customers were being handled than the manager was..this franchise will go under if something isn’t changed..

My boyfriend and I went to stake and shake at 12:30 AM to get some food and shakes on our way home from me getting him from work. Pull up and the manager is arguing with a customer. After 10 minutes go buy we pull up the mic and instantly get ” I’ll get to you in 10 minutes. ” we waited for 20 minutes gave him our order and he read it back completely different. What’s the poi t of having a drive thru if you can’t even keep up with it? I can’t even tell you how many cars pulled around and left. Not to mention the fries I got were chewy and not even cooked all the way. I work in a pizza shop and we Dont even get that bad. Worst customer service ever! Will not be going back after all of this happened with the manager of the place running the drive thru. (Mentor store near diamond cinema center )

I don’t know what’s Going on at the Cooper city, FL location but I’ve in the drive thru for over 30 mins for a shake and they have only served 3 cars in this time while easily over two dozen cars got out of line n left .in fact im in line writing this right now, n its was 9:30 when I got in line and to only serve 3 car in the drive thru during dinner is ridiculous!

My mother and I went to the Steak and Shake location on Dixie Hwy in Louisville, Kentucky. While we were there, 2 men who were INNOCENTLY raising donations for a mission that helps people get back on their feet after being hooked on drugs and alcohol and have since quit. When she noticed them, the shift manager MARCHED outside and ARROGANTLY ORDERED them off the property. Now I don’t know what your company policy is on this matter, and I don’t really care. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT MANAGER’S CONDUCT WHEN EJECTING THOSE GENTLEMEN OFF THE PROPERTY!!! For all she knew, they may have been stopping in to order some lunch and meet some people on the way in to explain what they are trying to do. Like I said, I really don’t care if this is against company policy or not. Those men were CHRISTIANS, and SO ARE WE! We’re not ashamed of that. We’re proud of that. Hate on us all you want, it’s not going to make a lick of difference in the long run. WHAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE, is my family and I will NOT visit ANYMORE of your establishments. WE WILL NOT patron ANY business that treats our brothers and sisters in Christ with such disgust! Good day, God bless, and GOODBYE!!!

Ok I went through your drive thru in Woodhaven Michigan, after waiting ten minutes for my food I noticed the dip for the French dip was missing, after pulling around and waiting another ten minutes to get to the window only to get a refund and gave the food back, and the shakes because who in their right mind wants cold food and melted shakes, im pretty sure I’ve had crap service the last 4 times I’ve been there, used to enjoy it

On Saturday April 30th my two daughters and three grandchildren and I went to have lunch at the 3615 south Reed Road in Kokomo, in we arrived at 12:00 pm and we were seated fairly quickly, I noticed the tables were not the cleanest in the world and the young man stated it wouldn’t come off I told him I rubbed it off with my hand and showed him and he just walked off, Brandi was the waitress and she took care of the table, we placed our order and one hour later we still didn’t have our food and everyone around us that came in later was almost finished , we had Brandi check on this and about ten minutes it came out, my daughter’s had the fresco melt and they were not even warm the girls sent there order back and we waited again not once did the Manager come out she was yelling at everyone in the back which I guess this is normal for her I believe her name is Ashlee Carter, I think that someone e needs to check into this store it is a very dirty restaurant the floor needs a deep thorough steam service, employees need training on customer service and management needs additional training, I know from experience the public is hard to work with as I have been in retail management for over 25 years. If the Manger can’t stay the heat she needs to get out of the kitchen. BRANDI WAS A GOOD WAITRESS and tried to make up for the problem we encountered there was another waitress that was trying to help older lady gray hair and she came up and apologized for poor service but not once did the manager come out. On April 16th 2016 We arrived at the woodland dr location in Indpls, Indiana (myself, husband, and two 5 yr olds) restaurant and waited 10 min to be seated, dirty tables everywhere!! Got seated took another 10 min’s to get someone to table. We ordered @ 1: 45 pm and at 2:17pm still no food nor acknowledgment from server of when our food would be ready or even if we needed anything at all!! Finally I stood up and caught her eye she yelled across the restaurant that the chicken sandwich I had ordered was why we had no food and why we were still waiting, but never did come to our table!!! Meanwhile I could she into the kitchen area were there were 5 employees standing around laughing and talking but no one cooking food!! Then we saw other orders coming out and I stood up again and the server stated that oh I think it is coming..then told kitchen staff they forgot the chicken sandwich!! At that point our kids where tired,hungry and we had lost out patients!! I tried to get the servers attention to let her know to cancel our order when she yelled again it’s ready now!! Then turned and yelled at the kitchen that they did not have the chicken sandwich!? at that point we where heading to the front to pay for our drinks…when an employee who had been standing in the kitchen said well they still gonna have to pay for their meals even if they don’t eat them and then laughed!!! I said I beg your pardon we would not be paying for anything!! The manager never came out of the kitchen to address us just said I didn’t know you where waiting for a chicken sandwich??? This is truly a shame..we understand when things are busy but Steak ‘n Shake is marketing there brand as a affordable sit down restaurant.. But we left there and drove to a true “sit down” restaurant, ordered and received our meals in the same amount of time we waited for food at this Steak ‘n Shake location!!! We took our kids there as a Saturday treat but will make somewhere else that place along with our money!!

We often eat at Steak & Shake, buying shakes, never less than 4, to bring home. We are especially delighted to see your new black raspberry shake! We, & all our neighbors love it; I’ve taken to purchasing 5-6/weekly, freezing them in bulk for later consumption. On 4/11/2016, I happily ordered our dinner, plus 4 shakes from S & S. Happily, until 3, yes, THREE of the lids were not placed on the shakes correctly by staff, & just plain fell off in my car, as I was driving.Two of the shakes just ‘slopped’ on the car seat, (it takes 15 min. to get home)-the third shake, lid loose, fell over in the car, spilling entire contents on my seat/floor. I had asked for a carrier-they “were out”. WHAT A MESS!! Next day, I visited the Steak & Shake,with pictures on my phone of the spill, & talked to the “manager”, mentality of a 12 yr old.
He stated, “oh, they didn’t put the lids on right”; refused to compensate me in ANY form.
We will not return to Steak & Shake-after a 8 yr love affair. (1) Hire managers with knowledge. (2) Teach them a $3.79 shake does not equal 8 years of business from a customer-& humiliating that good customer in public.

Recently we were at a steak and shake and I ordered the chilli mac supreme. While I understand that steak and shake is a fast food restaurant I was truly dissapointed that to me I got a lot of spaghetti with what tasted like ketchup or a barbecue sauce ….it had hardly any meat on it and barely any beans. It was almost all sauce. They didn’t even give me the cheese that was supposed to come with it. I had to ask for it. I also asked for a side of fries and asked how much and was told 39cents….then $1.29 but in the end was charged $1.79….just wanted to bring my experience to someone attention.

I visited the location in Merritt island fl. I bought meals for my entire family and a strawberry shake for my 4 year old daughter. When my daughter made it about 3 quarters through the shake and wanted no more finally it was dad’s turn. As I started to finish her shake I noticed something very hard and very out of place. I dug it out of the bottom of the shake and discovered it was the top to a whipped cream can. You have to pop that off the whipped cream to use it. (With your hands) not to mention whipped cream go’s on last so how did this get to the bottom of my daughter’s shake? MY DAUGHTER ATE MOST OF THAT SHAKE!! What if she choked? What if she became ill? What if a piece of the plastic was swallowed by my child? I was freaking out. I called customer service and explained everything. They took my statement and said they would forward it to the proper channels. All I got was an apology email and my daughter wakes up next morning sick. Thanks for the visit to the e.r. steak n shake.

I went to the location in Bradenton fl. I placed my order around 7:10 PM. At 7:50 PM i still didn’t have my food. The waitress kept tell me that my order was next. Well about 10 plates came to the window and not one of the was mine or my children’s plate. I was told numerous time that they were short staffed. There was 3 people at one end of the cookung station while at least another 3onbthe opposite end. There were 4 waitress and only 2were even doing anything. I finally just got up and left without receiving my food……this was such a disappointing vtrip to your establishment that I will probably not return. If I wanted to Go to a sit down and wait a half hour for my food restaurant it would not be steak and shake. I have received faster service at red lobster or longhorn where I EXPECT to wait.

My family and I love coming to Steak and Shake here at the Fischer Dr on Westport rd louisville ky. But for the past month and a half it has been going down hill with the drive thru and customer service. It’s takes to long to get seated down and when you do finally get seated down,it takes 15 to 30 minutes to get waited on. When you get waited on the sever acts like they are pissed cause you are there. When you order your food it takes forever along with the milkshakes orders.
On March 1,2016 I went to the drive thru to order food on my way home from work. There was a pickup truck in front of me waiting to order. Meanwhile the dining room was empty when I came to the drive thru. The time was 12:10am. The truck in front of me kept telling them he was ready to order. 12:19am the truck still waiting. Finally at 12:23 he gives up and leaves. He went next door to Wendy’s. 12:24 I get to the drive thru I was told it would be a few minutes. 12:26 still waiting. The lady comes back on the monitor and tells me to come inside the dining area if I want to order. I was so dam pissed off for waiting so long that I to went too Wendy’s. The restaurant don’t realize that the Ford plant is 5 minutes up the road and they get business from us ford workers. 24×7. And they take to long to take our orders at the drive thru. This place is always dirty inside the dining area,bathrooms needs a HVAC crew to come in and clean. Need to come in a investigate before it gets worse. Weekends are just as bad trying to go inside or drive thru to get food. Their excuse not enough staff.bullXXXXX!!!!!

8477 US-64, Memphis, TN 38133 has the absolute worst service, building and food I’ve ever experienced from a Steak ‘n Shake! The kitchen/drive thru window were dirty as ever! I was given my cold old fries and double bacon burger with absolutely nothing else on it in a wrinkle and ripped bag after an over 10min wait. I pulled back around for a refund and the wait time to get service was even longer! If I want Steak ‘n Shake I’ll drive all the way to the one in Southaven MS!!

I was appalled while visiting Steak ‘n Shake store #690 (Toco Hills – N. Druid Hills and Lavista Rd) last evening. Arriving there about 9:05 p.m., when the store appeared to be less than half full with few cars in the drive thru and having to wait an extended period to be waited upon. After tracking down a waitress who was servicing another area our order was finally placed into the system @ 9:30 p.m.. 30 minutes later our food was still yet to be received. At @ 10:05 p.m. our waitress informs us that our order will be up shortly. We had asked to speak to the manager during our wait. Once she appeared, our waitress tried to inform her that we wanted to speak to her, to which her response was “I’ll get there when I get there” while standing in the center of the dining area. Once she finally comes to our table and we question her as to why was there such a long wait, she responds that the crew working was young and that most of them were new. One our food arrives almost 40 minutes after the order was placed, imagine my surprise to find that our french fries were luke warn to cold, not to mention that one of my party ordered a milkshake that had to be remade 3 times with less than satisfactory results. How is it that no one working in this establishment knows how to make one of the staples for the entire franchise? By this time in our visit we had witnessed several unprofessional incidents by employees. One employee actually threatened to take a customer’s phone and destroy it because the gentlemen was taking pictures of this employee’s unprofessional and rude behavior.

I have been a frequent patron of Steak ‘n Shake around the metro Atlanta area and across the country until tonight. Poor service, poor leadership and poor food has truly caused me to question whether I will ever patronize Steak ‘n Shake again.

My wife was working at Steak n Shake in Warsaw last nite when this kid she works with decides to play around with a big a** butcher knife.Waving it in her face..acting like he was going to stab her..Telling her she has no witnesses.The nite manager an this kid thought it was funny that she was so shook up by this.It got bad enough for the manager to send the kid home.Well,this morning she calls the Warsaw police department to report the incident.The officer tells my wife he was just doing it for attention,that he had no intent to harm anyone.The manager told the officer that it was an ongoing thing an that he has never hurt anyone.Let me tell you my wife was VERY UPSET by this…she felt intimidated by this.The dam cop says he had no intent therefore nothing can be done about it.But if I go there to kick this kids a** that I will be arrested because I went there with INTENT…Maybe I should say I was just kidding.We thought it was funny.Well..I’M GONA MAKE THIS PLACE FAMOUS..

We exited I-95 in south Jacksonville and we’re excited to see there was a steak-n-shake, one of our favorite places to eat, back home. This is the address for the one we went to on 12/30/15

We walked in the door at 1:30pm, ordered our food @1:43pm and now at 2:16, we still have not received our order. There are 5 other tables inside, sat before ours, that have not gotten their food. The couple sitting behind us just got up and requested theirs to go, because they have been waiting 45 minutes for their food. Top it off with 5 tables stacked with dirty dishes. It’s now 2:20 and our food still is not ready. Question, how can it only take 5 minutes to get your food in the drive through, but an hour inside? Finally got our food at 2:23pm. There has to be a better way to run this specific location. Wait staff with no idea what food goes were. Orders coming out to tables where the people had been sitting for 20 minutes earlier than the others. Table tops filled with dirty dishes and a staff that moved around at a snails pace. Someone needs to step in and get this location squared away.

You need to get out of the drive-thru business!! Do either dine in only or drive-thru only because you don’t seem to be able to do both! Employees show no initiative and the drive-thru is absolutely ridiculous. You don’t seem to understand why people use a drive-thru. We don’t care that you are making our food as we wait, we are there because we are in a hurry or trying to not use up all of our lunch break sitting in the long line. I know now why you design your drive-thru so that one cannot drive off because we all would. What adds insult to injury is after waiting so long to get our food, rarely is the order correct! I see the same thing in every Steak n Shake from Cincinnati Ohio to St. Louis Mo. Maybe you should see how McDonalds does it so well, because the food is very good and their drive-thru is very fast. I refuse to go back to one of your restaurants, it’s just not worth the aggravation.

Went to drive thru December 28, 2015 @ 9:30pm Richmond Ky location. Lady working drive thru asked me please hold a minute when I pulled to speaker. So I sit there few minutes waiting for her to be ready. Finally told her I was ready. Still no response. I needlessly honked couple times. She eventually come back like she didn’t know I had existed & took my order. While this was going on, there was lady with short hair and blue shirt that had walked out back to car. After I started making a scene she went back in & met me at the window. She apologized and said she didn’t know what had happened she was only gone few minutes. The black lady with burgundy hair that had taken order walked off talking to someone in back after lady in blue shirt walked away. I saw cook place my order on the counter. So here we go again with the honking. Didn’t work. Knocked on window. A gentleman yells drive thru. Then a white boy walks by laughing at me instead of handing my food out! Black lady comes to window and ask can I help you (of all things). Told her my food been sitting there at least 3 minutes. She gets my order, looks at it. Hands it to me and mumbles something. This lady has been there long enough to know how to do her job cause she has waited on me before with another black lady coworker. All and all it took at least 15 minutes to receive few pieces of chicken and cold fries. Hopefully someone can do something about poor service at the drive thru. The dining area wasn’t busy. Only 5-6 cars in parking lot.

I am so disappointed with your commercial. It says Steakburgers are made with 100% beef. So is Burger King & most other burger joints. It should sat 100% steak. iT ALSO, SPEAKS OF THE CRISP EDGES & SHOWS A BURGER THAT COULD BE FROM ANYWHERE BUT WITH NO CRISP EDGES. DO YOU GUYS EVEN LOOK AT YOUR COMMERCIALS?????

First off i want my money back. Let me tell you why. Management was horrible picked a cook who has no experience at all. The girls of front and drive through took charge they had to help management read the orders on the screen because not even with glasses on could she see. I odered at 8:45 am and left the store at 10 am. People before me were leaving .the poor waitress kept crying because there was no food coming out and guest were walking out some even cursed her out. There should have been another waitress. More and more guest were coming in. Very overwhelming too all even me! The food had to be microwaved because it was so cold. No spachulas handy only the dirty ones in there hands and no place to put any food that had to be cooked. The two girls the one in the front and the drive through and the waitress god bless them they made it all happen. My food was in my defence not good after the hour and a half of wait for other tables to get theres in frustration was sloppy to there best and i am very dissatisfied. I suggest you refund my $24.43 to my card or i will report to 2 or 3 different companys no need to say names. My email is XXXXX never have i had a problem with steak n shake before but today completely different. Sorry will be expecting an email as soon as monday. Food ordered Saturday. Have been eating at you Delray Beach Fl. store ever since it opened. Today My wife and I visited again for lunch. We had a slip and the that one of our children had given us because they knew we frequented the store. When I presented the card and the slip with a total of $5.62 , I was turned away and told that they had no control of cards. I had the receipt from that store to show what we had as a total left. They would not honor the slip nor the card and as far as I am concerned having dealt with the public in both store management and as a Law Officer for 45 years, they were very rude and unconcerned. Therefore, our visits to that store is no longer on our agenda, an maybe others of the same company.

Its a long standing practice of stakenshake..
To not train associates nor management on proper customer relations skills.
Theirs General Managers within the company that have no skills in dealing politely with customers..
Am a current associate with i witnessness thus on a daily am positive that my distric manager is well aware of this fact..yet he turns a blind eye to long as thus store turns out the proper numbers(money).. So that he don’t have to exain why to his boss..area manager(regional manager)..!!
My GM..has some 16(+)..years with stakenshake..?
Yet she can’t do a truck order from week to week twice weekly..she hires young men based on her attraction an potional of sleeping with them..(an she wounders why she can’t keep managers..(OS..(opeeational specialists)..?
Its sad ti have a live for this industry as i do only ti see it all being washed out in a blaze of pride an egotisical..people!!
Yet this is the trend of how thus company is becoming..persons being given promotiins based on their non-job skills related peraona..!!
It’s going to take a very consorted efforts of the owner an the senior corperate managers to correct this turn ill approach to dealing with the customer in a respectful an decient maner..
It’s like watching your life long mentor dieing of something as simple as a cold..very preventable..if someone would just take the proper approach an do what’s needed ro keep all that the founder had inmplimented into this company at it’s conception..
is how stakenshake has become the company it is..!!

I am a resident of lake placid, Florida and would like you to consider opening a restaurant here. We have very few places to eat here and have to travel over 20 miles unless we want McDonald’s. There is property all over that is for sale, in fact we have a Winn Dixie and a new dollar general store that was built about a month ago, and I could see a Steak ‘n Shake right in that area. You would do a great business here and build a tremendous amount of regular customers. Please consider looking into this, lake placid, fl will not let you down.

I have eaten your burgers for over 50 years…wonderful!! However, at the two locations in Tallahassee, Fl., no one has been trained to cook the famous burgers properly! I’m sure it can be dealt with… It’s so disappointing to order one of your burgers here.

Please consider building a Steak n Shake in Highlands County Florida ( Sebring or county area). Residents now have to travel about 60 miles one-way to the closest Steak n Shake. It is either Bradenton (Manatee County) or Lakeland on South Florida Avenue (Polk County). Thank You for your consideration. We would patronize more often if closer.

The steak and shake on pine islsnd road in Cape coral fl has the worst service in the restaurant and the drive thru…you should really do something about this….Helen Keller could do a better job than anyone that works there.

I visited the S n S just north of 96th street on Michigan Rd last evening with two other ladies. We walked in, waited for someone to seat us for 10 minutes, per sign, and then opted to seat ourselves instead…except there were no clean tables as no one had bussed any of them. Every table was covered with dirty dishes. Another 10 minutes later a security guard walked out to smoke a cigarette, next to his car that was parked at the curb blocking anyone from being dropped off at that curb to enter the store.
I did ask a lady at a table consisting of 5 adults and about 20 children who had been waiting over an hour for their order. There were people coming in, hearing about the crummy service and then leaving…
Needless to say, we left and came home and made popcorn….
I am extremely disappointed in the so-called service at that particular store.

So I really like Steak ‘n Shake there foods really good. But tonight I spent 15 mins wait to order then another 15 to get my food in there drive thur. I had just gotten off work after a 10 hour shift at 3 am while waiting I turn my car off cause it was starting to run a little hot. It was my turn at the window go to start my car and it wouldn’t start. So pushed my car out of the way picked up my food and the lady at the window asked if I needed help told her my battery died and that I needed a jump I already had jumper cables. She then said that as soon as they had a chance that they send someone out to help me I thank them. I saw that there were a few cars in line so I didn’t mind a little wait. We’ll after about 20 mins there line was empty then about 20 mins later two employees come out and take smoke breaks I thought maybe they’ll help me now. We’ll I was worng they went back went back to work they clearly saw me sitting in a parking space across from the drive thur window. We’ll after an hour and 30 mins after waiting for the help I was promised one of my friends finally answers their phone drives up there and jumps off at 430 in the morning. And getting the jump start the lady that promised to help me was taking her second smoke break at this point while just watching me. I wanted say thanks for the help but decided not to in the end. Now I know that the car issue is not there fault but the fact that they said they would help and never did is a failur to your costumer service and as a person. I work in the fast food as we’ll and every time one of my costumer needed something like this I would always make it a priority to help even more so if I told them myself!

I’ve been going to Steaknshake over 40yrs but they may have lost a long time customer !!! I ordered a Frisco melt combo and a Portabello Swiss combo each w/ fries and a cup of chili. I went thru the drive thru , didn’t get a receipt , the food was cold. , and what a pathetic looking burger , the Frisco patties barely covered the bread side by side and they are supposed to be stacked , think it was slider burgers used on it. But I can tell you if that’s what you get for twenty bucks , I will gladly take my business to an establishment where I feel that I get more bang for my buck !!! The founder didn’t become a success by short changing the customer , but it seems like that’s what they are doing now, what a shame !!!

ive had bad experience with management mainly with scheduling i wrk with my husband schedule he’s been there for 3+ years but recently his manager (letica) does not help the fact he wrks alote n there are countless days he has to show up on days he doesnt work n because she posted the schedule no “communication” she calls n ask why he is not at work??? well nobody told my husband he had to wrk because schedule is weekly n the manager knws repeatly telling her the days he cant wrk but she tends to schedule him all the time the general manager was told about this situation!! was anything done no she continue to schedule him n tells him he has to wrk as a employeers right in the handbook he needs to be notified in advance for further shift by state laws n under defying that (letice) the manager keeps doing this my husband needs his job he fullfill his duties but i know this is unacceptable by law

Due to my daily visits to a medical center, I found a Steak n Shake that was convenient in my daily travel. This particular one is #72, in Winter Park Florida. It appears that there is no routine checking of the catsup dispenser or other condiment containers. At 12 noon daily during my visits, almost every catsup container is encased with grease to the point that they stick to your hand and about half the time they are empty. Just as a check, one certain container of the counter near the cash register was so encased with grease that it was disgusting, I checked this container three days in a row, I even pointed this out to the cashier and all I received was a blank stare. After three day I removed the container and placed it on the work area behind the counter. The next day it was full, but still the same amount of grease. I noticed this same problem at other Steak n Shakes in the area. Now realize that during the morning breakfast hours that there is more of a chance of the containers becoming greasy, but not to the degree of some of the condiment containers I have observed recently. I don’t know how things are run now days, but in my youth, my parents managed a truck stop and it was routine for the overnight shift to fill and wipe down every container that is handled by the public. Sadly, I was amazed that this store, after I mentioned it a couple of times and once brought my own handiwipes with me and wiped down every container on the table while the waitperson was standing there watching me and did not say anything. Look, I enjoy the food and will continue going to this shop as long as I have to travel this route, I just fine this lack of attention to sanitation should not be tolerated. Who knows how many other shortcuts are taken that we do not become aware.

Yesterday, we visited the Steak and Shake in Mooresville, In. on Kentucky Av. The whole experience was a disaster! The entire place was very dirty, the staff was not sharp and for the most part wore spotted, wrinkled and grubby clothes. We did not get our food in a timely manner – the fries and the hamburgers were cold, we did not get the proper silverware, i checked 3 ketchup bottles and they all were empty and we never got the water or coffee that we ordered. One of the staff kept mopping the floors all around us while we ate. Seems to me that the dinner hour was not the time to be cleaning the floors. The service was terrible in spite of the fact that there were several people who seemed to be standing around with nothing to do. We were not the only people making similar complaints. We have always enjoyed Steak and Shake and have gone there often on weekends, however, I can tell you for certain that you have now lost customers.

the same thing happened with me , except i called in when i was sick and they fired me, last i checked ,the food business didn’t want people handling food that was sick…duh !!! this company is horrible ,they let other kids tell others what to do etc…instead of managers doing their job and dont get me started on favorites ughhhh !!!, glad im gone …im sure you are happy too a … btw been like 3 weeks or so and still dont have my check ..i think its time for the bbb and labor board union to get involved

Why have an on line menu or store web sites when your stores tell you they don’t serve the food they’re advertising. Like only fries, no onion rings. Either have your stores redo their menu’s or just take them down. Went to one of your places on 1604 & Culebra, San Antonio, Tx. They looked at us like we were stupid when we wanted onion rings and forget your cheesy fries. They hand you a little serving of cheese in a cup smaller then the ones restraurants serve salad dressing in.

Just take the website down. It’s useless anyway,

I am an employee at Steak ‘n Shake here in Mcalester, Oklahoma. I love the company & fellow employees but I have to say there is one manager (Athena London) who is by far getting the best of me!! Althena says she is my manager I will do what she says wether I like it or not! First of all this lady has no right ever to curse & loud talk an employee in front of co workers nor customers… There have been several people whom got fired for saying the F word at work yet this woman still has her job. This same lady also tried to explain to me what she meant by working like a N’~~er. You a manager that should never come out your mouth!! Every time I work with this lady she waits until all the other managers leave & then she starts crap with me to make me mad & then sends me home! I’m really tired of it. I’ve talked to my managers, I’ve even called corporate but nothing ever gets done bout the situation. I love working at Steak ‘n Shake but enough is enough. As long as I continue to work in this establishment she is not going to be referred as my manager! You have to be equal with all people, know the right things to say to your co workers, just cause you have a title that says manager don’t give you the right to curse anyone or belittle them in front of others, or customers…if she has a problem she should call them back to the office. Two wrongs don’t make a right so when ever Althea London tells me to leave I do just that! To all who are reading this I still hope you have a pleasant visit & that you do come again

FYI the Steak ‘n Shake on Mill run dr in Hilliard OH needs help! My last two visits have not been good. Poor/slow service, rude servers and cold food is the common theme. As a business person I am passing this along so it can be addressed.
