Hardee's History

Wilbur Hardee opened his first restaurant in Greenville, North Carolina in 1960.

More restaurants were opened quickly through franchising and, on a smaller scale, acquiring other restaurant chains.

Hardee’s Restaurant served distinctive burger items, including the Huskee, a hamburger for 15 cents, a cheeseburger for 20 cents, fries, and milkshakes.

In the 1970’s Hardee’s expanded to Germany and Austria.

In the 1980’s the company had over 4,000 locations in the United States.

In the late 1980’s Hardee’s was bought by Imasco and the new management made decisions that had negative affects.

Ten years later, Hardee’s was down to less than 2,000 locations.

In 1997 the chain was bought by CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Carl’s Jr.

Today Hardee’s has 1,900 locations in 30 states, mostly in the Midwest and Southeast.  About 475 of the restaurants are operated by the company, while the rest are franchised.

Please don’t take that white girl out the drive she is the only one there that knows what food is what an I do believe that girl could run the whole store it’s a mess when she ain’t there I’m not sure of her name but she is the only white girl I seen in there.

To Whom it May Concern:
I am currently employed at your company in Harrison,Ar. I am writing about your policy on your employees only being able to dye their hair natural colors. I have worked for your company for a little over a year now and have recently been promoted to crew leader. That alone should give you the confidence that I work hard and do my job well. I decided to make a personal change and dye my hair dark blue. I was then told a couple days later that I could not have my hair that color. I work in the kitchen and my hair is in a hair net all day so the color is barely noticeable to anyone. My question is this: what does the color of my hair have to do with my professionalism and the way I do my job? I work hard every day and try to provide the best service possible. I take pride in my job and do love working for your company. But the hair color policy is unfair. I understand wanting professionalism but the color of someone’s hair does not affect how they handle themselves on the job. Noonee else(including the public)has any issues with my hair,only your company.Can we not change this policy and bring it up to date?

I have a Hugh complaint about the store and higher up management, not the general manager, but Beasia ?? And Jack Swecker…they had one of the most dedicated male general managers you could ever want working for them, and treated him luke a work horse…he had worked everyday since December 8th except Christmas day, with an hour off here and there…went on at 4 a.m. and sometimes didn’t get home until after 8 or 9 at nite to turn around and get up at 3 to be to work at 4 in the a.m…he had no help and half the time employees wouldn’t show up for work and he would go back in if he did get a few hrs off…Basis hired priscilla as help in management and when the existing manager met her, she made it very clear she wasn’t going to open or close…which left him no relief for some much needed rest…he asked that she be put in another store because she was reaking havoc on his store and a couple days later app. June 16th, Beason and hack came in and told he he could handle the store it was too much for him…now this man has work for 6 months with Christmas day off only and he can’t handle the store…REALLY..when he was hired he was promised a new store on clements ferry rd. In mt. Pleasant sc and they gave it to someone else, which is a breach of contract…I really think he was treated unfairly at this store which JACK had and was a total diasterm when he took it over…Bobby Medlin if you read this I hope you do something about the way your best manager was treated…so unfair…this man is the most hard working,dedicated,trusted manager you will ever have had….I hope he gets all due to him for all he gave to your store on ashley river road, charleston sc. .I will never eat at Hardee again…

I work or I did work at Hardee’s in Leesville Louisiana on Entrance Road and before they did fire me I was threatened buy one of my managers because for the simple fact that I was not doing what she wanted me to do and apparently I had an attitude so she was going to pull my drawer and I had an hour left and I asked her I said how come your pulling my drawer this early she lied to me and said that labor was high and I told her that was a good excuse and she told me the real reason why I’m sending you home and I finish her sentence I said what because of my attitude she was like yes it’s like okay so I went to go finish packing the order so customers didn’t have to wait any longer and then she comes over there and snatch the bag out of my hand and tries to get the headset and I told her I said please don’t snatch nothing out of my hand and she told me the manager on duty said I will snatch whatever I want so I went shaking and my heart racing I went to the register to clock out hoping that she doesn’t jump on me and she was right behind me while I was trying to clock out and she said if she wasn’t on the clock she would punch the f*** out of me and she repeatedly kept on making comments about she don’t need this job as bad as other people here I’ll tell you like this I went to my manager my manager in charge of that Hardees as soon as I got off the clock and I told her what happened clears day everything every word she said to me and you know what my manager my boss told me she said that she was going to talk to everybody else and get their statements and so on so forth so I said okay which I had nothing to worry about I knew what happened I know I was threatened and lied to and abuse so I wake up the next morning to make sure that I was safe to come to work and my boss ignored me so I texted her again and I said I know you see my messages please let me know if I’m okay to go to work so she text me and told me that I no longer have my job and that I’m a good person but they have to let me go I’m confused on when does the person that was being threatened and had their lives at harm because of Hardees management how come I lost my job? Store Number 1501422 2800 Al. Highway 202 Anniston,Ala. 6-2-17 i order the thickburger and Rib combo i did not get what i paid for as advertise,rib on top of hamburger.what i receive was a hamburger with a four inches long by two inches single one peace of rib. i ask the manger why i was not getting what i paid for she told me her manger to do it that way.

Love your food but i recently took my daughter to eat at the granite falls store and the lady at the front smelled like marijuana bad so I asked to talk to someone in charge turns out she was the boss lady !! Her name was Sydney Roberts she said. I won’t be back to that store but will still visit many others thanks for your time hope something is done to the management in the granite falls store

I went to hardees in Statesboro GA I would like to say there is a white lady in there I seen on her tag said Michelle she is the only one I’ve seen there she always has a smile on her face an makes sure everyone is OK she tries to make sure everyone gets there food including the drive she is very fast at her job she is a hard worker I would like to say we need more people like her thank u

I just got back from the Hardee’s in Dothan Al on South Oates st, first the guy at the drivethru was high as hell he couldn’t hide it at all he could barely talk just mumble. I feel sick to my stomach while typing this, I got a brown bag special with a spicy chicken and double cheeseburger well my double cheeseburgers is raw meat in the middle I took pictures if corporate would like to see what I was served. Beyond disgusted and sick feeling right now!!!

I live in Hollins, Va. I wasn’t going to say anything but after thinking about it, I need to inform somebody of the horrible treatment I received at the Hollins Hardee’s. I used the drive thru to order. The signs in the menu board were fallen or missing. It was hard to read them. When I went to order my drink I could not read the sign. I wanted the lemonade…I couldn’t read that it was strawberry. The clerk fussed with me about it but we finally got it. When I pulled up the two black women were making a joke about me and my stupidity cause I couldn’t order right. It was about 1 pm. I felt humiliated because they were on the other side of the building behind the service counter. It was loud enough everyone could hear. I drove away in tears. I will never go to that Hardee’s again.

i use to love hardees but i do not any more my favorite was the one in leesburg ga, but now they have horrible customer service, and they always getting your food wrong. they need help bad. not the same anymore

I would like to say there is a young lady that works at hardees in statesboro GA her name is Michelle she is a very good worker she tries to get everyone’s food out as quickly as she can an I go through drive every morning she is very clean an she makes sure to ask if I need anything before letting me go every time I would like to say I appreciate her.

My family loves hardees breakfast and it has become a regular tradition that once a week normally on Saturday we will have hardees breakfast. Every single time we have gone the workers have been unnecessarily rude and snappy we normally just brush it off because we know how much it sucks working in fast food. But this morning I can not believe these workers are allowed to treat their customers this way and still have a job. I pulled up to the drive thru speaker at 10:58 and tried to order breakfast and yes I realize that breakfast stops at 11 so I was partially expecting to be told that breakfast was over but for the cashier to yell at me through the speaker and say ” MA’AM BREAKFAST IS OVER! IT IS 10:58 BREAKFAST IS OVER!!” At that moment I had to drive away without responding to the truly disrespectful and hateful way this woman spoke to me. There is no reason to treat a customer this way. And I will be letting everyone I know know how much Hardee’s “values” the hard earned money their customers hand them. Thank you for curing the little bit I tolerated this restaurant for my family. And since the advertised time is 11 but it truly is a few minutes before or whenever drive thru cashier feels she is Iredell of it I will let your other customers know as well.

What the heck is going on with Hardee’s 38 minutes in the drive thru. I waited this time to make sure it wasn’t me being impatient. Cars behind me customers yelling and some driving off. I notice an employee using her hands (no gloves) moving fries around on a tray. I’ve been a long time Hardee’s customer since the 70’s. It has never ever been this terrible. You are losing customers. I also heard two men coming from the inside complaining about the slow service inside. I taught customer service for 19 years I’m for hire. Please get Hardee’s back to what it use to be. Do an undercover investigation and you will see for yourself. The store is in Rock Hill S.C. on 2165 Mana Ct.

I went to the hardees yesturday on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights VA and when i got home i bite into the burger and it was so hard and old i almost hurt my tooth. I literally spit it out. Then i drove there to tell the staff and they didnt care! No apology, nothing. They were the rudest place i have ever been to. They replaced the food but the guy seemed like he was acting weird like they messed with my food so i didnt eat it. What a waste of money. This place needs to be shut down. I will NEVER go to this place again!

I work at the Hardees in conway, ar and I mainly work dinner and late night shift. I come into an uncleaned working environment from Morning and midshift. When I started working here I never had this problem until a few months ago and it has progressively gotten worse. I know we are supposed to work as a team throughout the day and clean during every shift, but that isn’t the case. If I’m coming off harsh Im sorry. I work for hardees and have been sexually harassed by my boss since my 1st wk. My managers gf is my supervisor an she’s aware of his actions. She’s openly hostile to me and called me a Punta (whore) just this evening. After sabotaging my shift. I can’t deal with much more and need help.

Stop in our local Hardees in Carthage Tennessee last night and received the worst ever. The Lady at the drive thru was rude and the one who was supposed to be the manager was worse. They even told me if I did not like it I could leave. Then when I said I wanted to talk to the managers the one lady said she was the manager and if I did not leave she was going to call the cops.
I loved this Hardees up to this point and have never had a problem with them. I don’t know if they just didn’t want to do there job or what. But if they keep talking to people like that People will stop eating there again.

My question is why would hardees district managers take their general managers out for Christmas dinner and not invite their spouses. ..very hurtful and thoughtless on hardees…aren’t the spouses important also for the amount of hours they’re without their significant other.just hurtful they don’t get to enjoyed the also…shame on hardees

I got a $20 bill from the ATM and went straight to Hardees. Got change for $10. Told them I gave them $20. Refused to give me change. Called the local district manager Brandon McCann. Promised a $20 Hardees gift card. Nothing. Called. Promised again. Nothing. Six weeks and NOTHING. Called corporate. Very disappointed in the Indianapolis ownership of this franchise. Wasting my time. I am positive it was a $20 bill. It had to be.

Visited hardees in taylors sc today n got 2 big chicken sandwiches at the drive thru, waited approx 25mins to get food, gave them my debit, he said it didnt go thru, so gave card back to me, i told him to try again cause i know money is there! He would not n demanded cash, i gave him cash, while waitng on food, i checked my bank acct, n seen n showed him n manager where it did go thru, manager was ruled n did not give me my money back, i will not ever eat there again, that is called robbery!!! To Whom It May Concern:

I don’t really have a complaint I just want to know why you discontinued your Pretzel Breakfast Sandwich. That was one of the best sandwiches you ever had. I went to my local Hardee’s this morning and when I ordered it they told me that it had been discontinued as of yesterday which was 8/23/16. The employee that waited on me said that I was not the only one asking for this sandwich. Please let me know if you are planning to bring it back in the near future.

I, along with countless other women, find your commercials depicting women in provocative clothing and poses quite offensive. I don’t know any woman who dresses or poses like that while eating a burger. I know sex sells and that Hardee’s is probably desperate to boost their sales since they lag behind most fast food restaurants – but really!!!! Is your marketing department not professional and talented enough to come up with any better marketing strategy?

Your manager Debbie and one of your cooks named Taylor at the Hardee’s in redbank Lexington SC were making sexual comments and jokes and made a penis out of the bread batter and Debbie was acting like she was sucking it it was very disgusting and made.me feel offended and made me never want to eat there again

I want to tell who ever is in charge of Hardee`s commercials that as a woman and a Mother as well as a Grandmother I find your use of women offensive I will not ever take my family to Hardees ever because of them , I find them distasteful and nasty , so need I ask who you are reaching with them , no I think not , my grands ask me why are those ladies eating on a car and what are they wearing ? That Sir has nothing to do with food .If you should have any thing you would like to ask me just feel free to , 803-775-xxxx , I live in South Carolina , Sumter again you have lost women in putting these kinds of commercials on tv , Shame on whoever is in charge .
