Chicken Express History

Chicken Express was founded by Richard and Nancy Stuart in Benbrook, Texas, in 1988. The company was one of the first fast food restaurants to offer delivery service in Texas. Franchising began in 1990.

Today, the company has more than 200 mostly franchised locations throughout the Southwestern part of the US. The company is best known for their iced tea, which they sell, literally, by the gallon. Other food items include catfish, fried chicken tenders, and a variety of side dishes.

Chicken Express had an estimated annual revenue in 2016 of $2.5 million and employs approximately 50 persons at each location. Company headquarters are now located in Burleson, Texas.

I normally love Chicken Express but I am so upset. The one on Turner Dr. in Abilene Tx left out my gravy. They would give me the gravy if i drove all the way back up there but would not consider the fact that they are the reason my food would be cold! The manager, Haley, in fact told me it was not their fault that I would have cold food! I had ordered a 20 piece tender with 2 sides. Cold okra and cold limp french fries! Seriously?! I have worked in food service for years….. This was unacceptable! I am furious!

I said I was never going to the chicken express at 287 and Sublett in Arlington/kennedale txt but I stupidly did it anyway. When I placed my order for livers and gizzards I was told they did not have any livers cooked. That was it. No offer to cook any. It was about 8:30 p.m. so I asked if they were fixing to close because I thought maybe that was why they didn’t offer to cook more livers. I was told no they weren’t fixing to close. Finally I got them to cook the livers. I was told it would be 6-8 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later they called my order number so I got my food and left. When I opened my food up SURPRISE-no livers only gizzards. So no more going back. I’m done.

This is my last time ever eating at chicken express. I went through the drive through on 1/24/18 about 7:35p in Glenn Heights, TX. No one acknowledged me. I drove off to go inside and as I parked the car that was behind me was getting helped which pissed me off. I went inside let the young lady know what happened. I proceeded to order, I waited for about 7-8 minuets for a number 1. Got my food drove to my destination which was about 5 minuets down the road and opened the box to go ahead and try to eat. My fries were ice cold, the roll was cold, the only thing that was warm was the chicken.
This is not my first time having bad food and bad service. Chicken Express will never get another dime from me.

I really like the food here. But I can’t order just a tea and pay with my debit/credit card? I got told there was a $2 minimum and I would have to buy something else. That doesn’t seem fair, I don’t carry cash, so I didn’t buy anything.

This is Lindy Eugene Morriss, 67, type 2 diabetic and deaf since birth. I used to come eating at Chicken Express near Hulem Mall for many years. Sometimes they are not friendly to deaf customers. All I want to eat, that’s all. Today, I ordered 2 pcs, white chicken, okra and large iced tea. I hold a large sized cup and clicked on unsweetened tea. I went to my table and she brought my dinner to my table. I started to some chicken without fry. I drank my tea and tasted way too much sweet. I came to a counter and complained about this tea tasted too sweet, I thought it was supposed to be unsweetened tea, someone mixed it up. I told a cashier you can not put sweet tea in there because some people with diabetic will get seizure and death. It is not funny, it is very serious, A lady cashier bursted to laugh and made fun of me, deaf man, I can tell by her facial expression, she mocked and laughed at me. I told her I will talk to the manager, she still laughed and act like a smart aleck, I want her to get her fired, I have seen like this so many times at fast foods and Chicken Express. Did you people train your employees to mock, make fun and laugh at deaf people? I am tired of this, when it’s gonna stop and start growing up act like human beings and respect all people. If this does not solve the problem , i will report to the city of Ft. Worth about this. What is wrong with your people? KJV Bible says, ” Do not insult the Deaf, fearing GOD, I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:14.

Hey, I went to your Chicken Express on Gilmer Road in Longview. Texas and ordered 3 dinners with white meat and mashed potatoes. When I got home, I had 3 chicken breasts and 4 wings. I don’t think wings are classified as white meat. I paid about $22.00 and feel I was cheated. I am really disappointed and will probably just drive on by any of your stores from now on. I hope you can explain why this happened…

My daughter, Allison Monthie-Kemp, went to work for Cindy Weadon and Richard Cools in January 2017. They own the Chicken Express: 5501 Rowlett Rd., Rowlett, TX 75089, phone number (972) 463-4646. She was hired on the spot, as she had worked for Chicken Express on Judson Road in Longview, TX, since she was 16 years old. She moved to Garland, Tx, to attend school and is now 20 years old. The owners are rude and mean to the workers, as you can tell by their employee turnover. While it was okay for them to call her in whenever they needed her, she was almost fired on Halloween for calling in sick. Ms. Weadon said to go to a minute clinic, get some medicine and come to work because she was shorthanded. We did take my daughter to the clinic and it was confirmed that she had strep throat and got a note for work. Allison hardly ever calls in sick or misses work. That should be evident in her employee folder from both stores. Mr. Cools always tells her that she will be or do nothing in her life. Allison has been accused of stealing on several occasions. As there are cameras, she always asked for proof. None was provided. Last night both the owners berated her, yelled at her, embarrassed her and told her she was suspended for two weeks impending investigation. Her drawer was over. The way these people talk to the young people in that store is ridiculous. They are all young and should not be screamed at, called names, and accused of stealing without proof. These kids will think all bosses will be like them. I was very disappointed to dine at that Chicken Express. The atmosphere is not the best.

Went to Chicken Express in Midlothian Texas find out they do not give senior citizens a family pack cuz if there is only one senior in the household nor they give military discount without a fight I talk to the corporate office Richard Nancy Stewart and their franchised so they don’t really care what the stores do mr. Moore’s that owns that one doesn’t call he has someone named Todd call me and informed us that they do not give seniors family packs because they feel is to much for one senior it’s sad it’s a joke but there’s plenty of places to eat good luck not a very friendly atmosphere either

Hello my name is Armani Cornish, I’m a senior in high school and I’ve been working at CE in Rockwall, TX for about 3 months now. I was just fired because I asked for time off because I needed more time for school work. I work only 2 days because that’s all he gives me even though I ask for more. But I call him and he just starts yelling at me that he doesn’t care and I need to manage my time better. He’s very rude and disrespectful to his workers and I just wanted to make sure this was addressed.

I am requesting that Chicken Express bring your franchises to Colorado, more specifically to Rifle, CO. There are no decent fast food restaurants in my area. We are located on I70 which is a main thorough fare through the mountains. Stores would do a great business since you would not only get locals, but also all the travelers coming through this area…also a lot of the transports that come through here, too. Since I am from Texas originally, I greatly miss your food…It would bring a little bit of home to me.

The store could not provide the correct amount of chicken and the store manager does not care enough to respond to an email.

I am writing to express my disappointment in a visit last night. I ordered the 20 piece tender with a family mash potato side, rolls and a large sweet tea at the drive thru. We get the 20 piece because it is perfect for us I have 6 pieces and she has 4 for dinner that night and it allows us each to have the same for lunch on a subsequent day. Upon getting home to have dinner with my wife we each grabbed our respective 4 and 6 pieces to see only 8 pieces remaining and at least 3 of those pieces were have the size of a finger. I feel for the $21.00 that is charged for the 20 piece chicken tender that we should not only be able to receive the 20 pieces that we actually paid for but they should also be a piece of chicken and not a piece that would not cut it as a nugget at McDonalds.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Four piece tender dinner. Chicken was great as usual but the pieces were as big as my thumb. I have pictures if you need them.i am used to a more generous serving for the price. We love our chicken express. Don’t get cheap and loose your store here in Lawton ,Oklahoma because people stop coming. I need no compensation. Just my two cemts.

On 09/22/17, I placed an order at the drive thru window for 2 chicken strips with a roll, also ordered a large sweet tea. After pulling away from the window I discovered there was no roll or gravy, just 2 strips. Wife went inside to correct the order. The manager gave her a roll,  but stated gravy did not come with the meal and she would have to pay for gravy. She asked if she could trade the biscuit for the gravy and was told no. This has never happened to us before. We take our grandkids, and great grandkids there and order adult size except for the great grandkids. I have no problem paying extra for gravy now that I know about the menu requirements. My problem is with the manager, instead of gifting some gravy and saying “now that you know, there will be a charge from now on. The store established the presidence with us, not us with the store. The wife says she will not go back to that store. The store just lost up to 6 orders at a time from us over one little tub of gravy. Wife says she or none of her friends have ever been to a chicken express without gravy included in their orders. The store was the Lake Worth, Texas store. At 6:45 p.m.

Hello, I was an employee at the store is duncan, ok. I was just recently fired for a no call no show. This is not fair and would like someone to be held responsible for this. The situation for my dismissal is I got the schedule that was made out telling me when I was scheduled to work. I was off Monday and Tuesday, working wensday. The schedule got changed and my supervisor or any one never told me of the change, I was told that I would be call if I was needed. I fill like it’s discrimination and bad management resulting in me loosing my job. This is my only source on income and I was let go for the simple reason of shitty management and it reflects against a great company.
