Young Living was founded in Utah in 1993 by Donald and Mary Young. The company sells essential oils and other items via their multi-level marketing service.
The company has thousands of distributors in the US and many other countries which sell directly to their customers and earn a commission. Young Living offers a multitude of essential oils and massage oils, as well as other wellness products including diffusers, weight management products, facial creams, and bath and body products.
Young Living has had its share of difficulties with the FDA. In 2014, the company was warned against marketing their products as being preventative or a cure for Ebola. Also in late 2014, the company was warned by the FDA not to market their essential oils as being any type of cure or preventative measure since there are no studies to back up their claims.

I am writing this because you sent me a check for 63 dollars and I misplaced it in my process of moving. I found the check and proceeded to cash it but it was rejected. So I was wondering if you could send me another check. Thank you Velma McKay

Placed two orders for starter kit and 2 additional oils, on aug 13,2018.
Called on August 22nd or 23rd and the representative, Miranda (Clarissa which was whom I spoke with on the 28th said the rep on this call was named Miranda. Although I believe it was coincidentally the same rep, Clarissa who I got again today), said there was an issue with the shipping vendor and that there was an automatic replacement order that was shipped out on the 22nd. When I spoke with this rep we were canceling the entire order, bc that’s an absurd reason and too many errors, and chose to cut my time loss since it was my FIRST ORDER. She said she couldn’t cancel the oils order that a supervisor would have to, who happened to be in a meeting and that she’d call me back to get everything canceled.
While waiting, I reached out to the person who enrolled me as a YoungLiving member. She called the same day and spoke with another rep who clarified everything and resolved all issues of which we agreed upon
– waiving fee for replacement start kit with express shipping
– clarified that the initial order was still ‘in progress’ and was never returned like the first rep informed me of. She also ensured that I’d receive my initial order of the starter kit along with the 2nd order of oils on the 28th today. Which we agreed on and everything went as planned until the 28th.
Please read message which references the agreement and ref #
——“Ok, so what happened is….your original kit delivery was still with in the time frame, but tracking info had not been updated when you called. The person you spoke to this morning went ahead and issued an expedited replacement to be delivered Saturday. But your original starter kit was not really sent back and is still on its way with expected delivery of the 28th, along with the sacred mountain and valor. Im guessing that you talked to a new employee and didn’t know what they were doing. I expressed my concerns as well as yours. They’re comping the cost of the 2nd kit and are going to issue you extra points. I asked how many they were going to give you and she wasn’t able to give me a definite answer but said it would be a lot. She was very apologetic and helpful and said to tell you she was so sorry. We will know how many “extra” points you will get after the valor and sacred mountain are delivered. So keep an eye on it and let me know how many you get. Points=free oils/products. 125526863 is the reference number for my call today, just in case we need it.” ————
I called back today, the 28th and spoke with a Clarissa (who I swear was the same person I spoke to on the 22-23rd). She was not only rude but she flat out REFUSED to transfer me to a supervisor. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she literally told me ‘NO.’ It was the most uncomfortable, unprofessional, unethical conversation I’ve ever been apart of. Once she FINALLY agreed to transfer me to a ‘supervisor’ she ended the call very rude and abruptly. She put me on a 6 min hold and transferred me to Hudson. I started from the very beginning explaining that this was my 3rd time reaching out to YoungLiving to resolve a very simple and straight forward order. He read the notes back to me 3 times, each time they changed. He was also not willing to honor the original agreement which was made on the second call (reference above) which included -2 starter kits & my separate order which included two oils.
He did however offer me 4 day shipping for my two oils (which I have never received but paid for) and 20 additional YoungLiving ‘points’.
I was unagreeable with this arrangement at which point I asked for a full dissolution of my YoungLiving order and membership as I would never be apart of a company that can’t right their wrongs accordingly and appropriately.
Hudson also lead me to believe he was NOT a supervisor. He read back notes differently every time. Was unable to offer me anything different than what Clarissa offered me. He also gave me invalid/incorrect information, which I believe was purposely. He informed me that my order was shipped using vendor LaserShip and a tracking # that doesn’t exists (I can reference this # upon request. I believe past notes are being altered to support and justify your errors, and to also get out of honoring the original agreement). He said that was for my oils order and that it was delivered to a Linda Griken. Well that was all a lie bc I looked everything up and it’s all false. I even read back the tracking number just for confirmation, and I looked up YoungLiving’s shipping vendors and only usps, ups, fedex, and dhl were reference. I also looked up a Linda Griken and there’s no one around with that name in our county. Although I’m pretty sure I’d know a Linda Griken as I’m a native to a town with a population of (2900).
After I spoke with Hudson I asked for corporates information as I’m going to scream this story from the rooftops, at which point he said, “well I could go to someone (supervisor) above me to override the system and give you the original agreement. BUT guess what?!?!!!??….the supervisors just so happened to be in another meeting and that he would call me back, definitely today. Well it’s 8 pm and I AGAIN haven’t received a call back, and NOTHING is resolved.
I just want to have this addressed professionally, and appropriately so I can stop wasting all my time as rod myself of this massive nuisance (I’ve invested hours in waiting and trying to resolve YL errors, not mine).
I want only one of two things.
1. The original agreement of -2 starter kits and my 2 oils (at no extra money out of pocket) or,
2. Dissolve my entire, short yet painfully lived experience and relationship, with YoungLiving.
Option number two will lead me to sharing my thoroughly doXXXXented, and horrible experiences with YoungLiving, because if I’d known this was the integrity of your YL company before, I would have NEVER of signed up.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience, to resolve in the one of two ways listed above.
Please contact me for additional information that I can provide to expedite my request.
Thank you for your time and attention; A very unhappy , new, and potentially a very high spending member,
