The Vitamin Shoppe was founded in 1977 by Jeffrey Horowitz. The company operates a chain of vitamin and health supplement stores. As of 2010, the company had more than 484 locations across the US, as well as an active eCommerce site. The company did have 3 locations in Canada, but these were closed in early 2016.
The company was acquired in 2002 by the private equity firm Bear Sterns for $310 million. Annual sales were $751 million in 2010. The company went public on the NYSE in 2009 and can be found under the ticker symbol: VSI.
While the company had some quality control problems in 2007, with some products containing more than the FDA allowance of lead, these issues appear to have been resolved. In 2011, the company passed a ConsumerLab.Com testing of their women’s multi-vitamin, which passed the USFDA standards.

I stopped by the VS at 3261 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30305 on May 24, 2021.to see if the No Flush Niacin had been restocked – NO!
When I came in, I asked if they still required masks and he said yes.
After checking for the Niacin, I told him, staffer, the other stores – Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Costco, the bank – don’t required it. The staffer go upset and said it’s not his call and he said I always talk about that. He started yelling at me!
CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE YELLED AT!!!
PLEASE RESPOND!\

The co. was run brilliantly before it was sold a few years ago. Sadly, the new CEO hasd little experience in the field and it shows. Is the Board of Directors drugged or asleep? What’s wrong? Just about everything you can think of, including customer service, difficulty in monitoring ‘bonus’ points, lack of mail notifications of sales and Bogos, wrong ingredients placed into capsules (Amer. Ginseng), sloppy packaging, slow service, rude in-store personnel, and misleading info on the site, indicating items are in stock but don’t ship for weeks. There’s also an inconsistency in the products themselves, including the B-50 complex, which obviously has a lower level of riboflavin than years ago.
Just read the online comments; the discontent is bountiful. But who, at the top, cares? The stock’s been sinking for 2 years, the competition, especially Amazon and Swansons, have taken advantage, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before it’s sold or crumbles. Either way, by that time, many of us will feel — hey adios.

You are 100% right. Something wrong with their top management , I cannot reach a procurement department for 16 months calling daily, nobody has returned my call.

I have been shopping at our local Myrtle Beach VS store for over 10 years since it opened, I always find the staff at our store very helpful and friendly, if it were not so I would definitely post a comment, I worked in sales for years I am now 81 so I know all about customer service , and I also know if you greet a customer with a smile before you even know what they want , it salves many problems.

Today I went to one of your stores in AZ. I need a couple supplements. I have some pretty serious health issues and recently added to them by getting the respitory flu. A lady helped me by the name of “Nancy”. After I told her about my health challenges that literally change my whole life, she thought it important to tell me – ” to stop talking about being sick, and be more positive”. I felt dismissed and hurt and explained I don’t tell everyone my health stuff but because I was getting supplements for it, I felt it was pertinent. Anyway, I felt sad enough to send you this email. She needs instruction in empathy. The store is.
# 0312- her name was Nancy. Located on Bell Rd. Phoenix, AZ Thank you . Nancy Wright

I placed an order at the end of March. On April 2, I was checking my bank account balance online and noticed that I was charged 3 xs for the same order. I have called/emailed the Vitamin Shoppe 4 times now and I was finally reimbursed for one of the charges. I am STILL waiting for the my last reimbursement. When I emailed customer service, they said they only saw 2 charges. I sent them a copy of my bank statement showing all 3 charges. Haven’t heard back.

We placed an order on 11/22 for 2 bottles of Taurine. You took our money and a week later after talking to your incompetent order takers 10 times; you shipped the original order to the wrong address, promised to reshoot to the correct address. The last time overnight. Never shipped and I can not get a supervisor to straighten this out.
You at this point are COMMON INCOMPETENT THIEVES.
My wife has had an account with Vitamin Shoppe for 20 years. You have turned into incompetent jackasses.

I have never experienced anyone In a place of business as rude and obnoxious as the man working in the store,He was loud and refuse to help me and advised me basically I was taking him away from his register,He was not helping anyone and I stood at the register for 10min and he never
acknowledged me and when I asked for his help he was extremely agitated, and annoyed.I apologized for bothering him and ask his name he refused to give it to me and also stated did I want to see his drivers license,in his attempt to be sarcastic. It’s obvious this behavior is acceptable and he does not value his job.The guy that claimed to be the supervisor on duty was not professional and refuse to give me the gentleman name or corporate office information claim he did not know.I have never been treated so bad.I will never frequent your establishment and I will discourage others to do likewise.I did quality assurance for a telecommunications company for 10yrs..This gentleman would certainly have been fired or placed on a final written warning for his behavior. He was extremely aggressive. I will be also writing your corporate office.Excellent customer service is paramount in the success of a business. The guy later claimed his name was Clyde

i have been shopping vitamin shoppe for years but presently i am disgusted. there was this whole promo about a nutritionist so i made an appt and met with her on oct 18th. she is very likable. i explained with detail what i take and cannot take. she handed me a box of NU Life restorative gut care and encouraged me to take it, assured me that i would receive a meal plan via email in 2 – 3 days. i tried to email her days later and could not so i went into my store in brick nj and was told that she was very busy. to this day, i still have not received my meal plan and have cancelled my follow up visit. on top of the uselessness of this entire process, i can’t take those vitamins i was encouraged to purchase as one ingredient is fish oil which i made a point that i cannot take – i am angry and out the expensive amount i paid for vitamins. it was obviously disingenuous.

I often receive products by mail, it would be nice if you used paper packing for recycling , instead of the plastic, thank you

The Manuka honey you are selling in your shop is not authentic Manuka honey certified by the UMFassociation of New Sealand and claims it is 15+ from Y.S Eco Bee Farms.
I have just vverified this with New Zealand Bee Association by taking a picture of the product and sending it for verification.
I bought this from your store in New York on 7th and 35 th.
I am. Most disappointed after asking about the authenticity and was told I have nothing to be worried about by the staff.
I is misleading to have a product on your shelf that is not certified or may not have the standards it claims as it is not certified by the New Zealand Bee Association which verification is sold by lisence

Unfortunately you have purchased a “made in USA” Manuaka Honey with a very small “R” letter at the right corner above the name. That is how Jewish owned packing company really misleading US clientele : they do registered a brand calls “Manuka Honey” in USA and put what ever number they want on a label because US business law or FDA is not an obstacle in such case. The question is how much real Manuka Honey in fact is in that jar remains open. Corporate management wants to buy as cheap as possible and ignore those distributors ( for instance our company) who imports real Manuka Honey to US market directly from New Zealand packing facility sealing container on a spot.
