Tervis was founded in 1946 when Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis created the world’s first insulated tumbler. The Detroit engineers used air as the insulator between two walls. The company name is a result of combining the founder’s last names: CotTER and DaVIS.
In the 1950s, the Davis family purchased the rights to the products.
In 1967, the Tervis Tumbler Company was incorporated and manufacturing was moved to Venice, Florida where the company headquarters resides today.
In 2017, Forbes listed the Tervis Tumbler as one of the top gift items of 2017.
The company was then purchased by the Donelly family, who still own the private company today.
Today, all Tervis products are made in the USA by their 700 employees in Florida.

I brought in a defective 24 oz glass to the Tervis company store in Osprey Fl. The defect was acknowledged by the manager but I was told they were not accepting returns at the store because of covid. Even though I was already standing right there, I was told I needed to send in my glass for evaluation. The store is open to sell things though.
I called corporate customer service and also got a run-around. I asked for a shipping label. Told they don’t have shipping labels at Tervis.
Their lifetime guarantee is bogus. The product is shoddy. Customer service is an outrage. Buy at your own risk.

07-25-2018: TERVIS CEO: Patrick Redmond – 941-441-1049 —— The LIFETIME GUARANTEE isn’t worth the webpage space. Took my 24oz Tumbler into the Atlanta store and without me saying a word, the store Manager said, we’ll replace it because I had it in my hand. She placed the order to have the new one shipped to the STORE so I could continue to use the old one. I just called the store to get an update for arrival and was told it’ll be another couple of weeks. I called Customer Service and found out, the Warranty replacement items can take 4-6 weeks because the lazy people in FL have to go through an APPROVAL process! WTF, the store manager said ship her a replacement! Other are right, Tervis isn’t what it used to be. I guess their crappy product isn’t holding up like the original QUALITY 1946 – 1998 products, so they are replacing more than they sale! Best Advice —- DON’T BUY THEIR PRODUCT unless you want to have it sit on a shelf for display.

Without a doubt the worst return policy in all retail. You send back tumblers from major sporting good events that you pay top dollar for and they have flaws in them. When you send them back you receive not the event tumblers that you sent but whatever they found laying around in their factory. Super Bowl ,Kentucky Derby and Master and US golf open were send. In return I got I love golf , and a college I’ve never send in or the right sizes .Then try to make a phone call to there so call customer service impossible. I’ll never be a customer again.

I have several Tervis mugs as well as a number of glasses. I drink coffee with half & half and use the mugs (as well as the glasses). I use the dishwasher to clean them. The mugs, in particular, have developed a film that I can’t get rid of. I am perfectly satisfied with your product with this the exception. I have been able to clean the coffee stains in the glasses using bleach and then washing in the dishwasher but this does not eliminate the film that has formed in the mugs. Please tell me how to clean this.

I’m so disappointed that Tervis customer service has become what it has….
Here’s my story…
SSOOOO… disgusted with what has become of Tervis customer service. Our family loves the Tervis tumbler brand, but I think we have purchased our final cup. Full disclosure, I have never had a problem with Tervis replacing our defective cups, the problem I have is with how much work is involved with getting the replacements. All sarcasm aside, we own btwn 60 and 80 Tervis cups, all sizes & shapes. The vast majority of them are the originals, we have had relatively few problems considering the number of cups we own. A year ago (plus or minus some months) Tervis stopped taking in store warranty exchanges. WHY!!??!! I bought the cup at that store and until a year ago (+/-) I could bring my exchanges to the store. Now you have to go to the web site & fill out forms and search for the replacement cups, which involves opening another tab because you can’t fill out the form & get the cup info on the same screen and then pack up the cups & pay for the postage to return the cups.
This is the second time I’ve had to go through this process to return cups. The first time (late 2014) I had to return 4 tumblers. I was able to put all 4 cups on one form, send them off (paying $12 for postage) and then I had the pleasure of waiting almost 6 weeks for the replacement cups to arrive. Tonight’s foray into the Tervis return universe was a real pain. I have 7 cups to return. I started the process on line only to find out that you can only return 2 cups per form. So I had to complete the return process 3 times. Yup, you’re right, 3 forms x 2 cups doesn’t equal 7 items returned. I had to use the “live chat”, because there isn’t info on the site regarding returning custom cups (pic of granddad & all the grand kids). WELL… on top of everything else, Tervis wants an additional $5.00 to remove the picture from the ALREADY BROKEN cup (that we paid $25 for) and place it in another. It’s not that I can’t afford the $5, it’s the fact of all the hoops I have had to jump through just to get the replacements. SSOOOO… I call “customer service” and granted it was 20 minutes before they closed for the evening and I am immd. put on hold (4 callers ahead of me). I wait on hold & about ten till eight (they close at eight) I get the message that there is one caller ahead of me and I get this message about every 2 minutes or so UNTIL eight o’clock. Which is when I get unceremoniously bumped to voice mail!! Well, I did my best to relay how I felt without being nasty or insulting (nasty or insulting would have been MUCH more satisfying). So, we will see if my call is returned.
Just SO SAD what has happened to the service end of one of my favorite products. We’ll see what happens tomorrow, but as of now I think I’m done purchasing new Tervis products. That makes me sad…… 🙁
Maybe Yeti will have an equal product with better customer service.

Order number 7455726
I am being completely honest when I say that ordering online with Tervis has been the most unorganized chaotic purchase I have ever experienced…
*Ordered on Cyber Monday
*Dec 10 still nothing
*Dec 11 received email asking for my feedback on purchase that hasn’t been received
*Called after feedback email and on hold for 89 minutes to hear they don’t have an order for me. They can’t find email address, card charge, name, nothing. But how did you send me a feedback email thanking me for my purchase if you have no email for me???? Then after 30 min of nothing, she tells me to hold and talks to another rep that says they have three systems and she found me!! Yayyyy!!! NOT!! Assures my order was packaged that day and on the way and will send me an email now that she found all of my info including my payment….. NO EMAIL
* December 14 called again on hold for an hour (conservative estimate) and was told again that package was shipped this day and I should have it soon and once more, I would receive email with tracking info. Email was sent my LYNDSAY INGRAHAM . Received email with tracking and all seemed good.
* received order today and I have been shorted one cup out of three that I ordered, and one cup isn’t design that I ordered. Even packing slip shows that only two cups were mailed even though my online order clearly shows three!!!
Attempted to call them today but 37 callers ahead of me and from past experience, that’s another 60-90 min of my life I will never get back… I am beginning to believe there is one customer service agent working out of a car garage at someone’s home!!
I own at least 15 tumblers presently now that I purchased at BB&B and have bought them for years, as my parents did because we loved the cups, but I will never punish myself this way again and order online. I have six cups that are foggy or wet inside that I need to send back but I am now beginning to think this company may not be what it used to be and I may need to cut my losses and run.
BEWARE BUYERS…. When it goes bad with this company… It’s really BAD
Kimberly White says
Sent Lyndsay INGRAHAM an email explaining problem because I cannot put myself through anymore wasted time with these people…. Will update if I receive a reply…
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anyone looking at these posts, don’t expect an update anytime soon… I’m definitely NOT…

Good morning. I really like your 12 oz. tumblers, but there aren’t lids for this size tumbler. Will you all consider making lids for this size tumbler? Thank you for your time.

Tervis tumbler has chaged their return policy and it has upset customers. We have on occasion exchanged a few tumblers as they have really cloudy.that we can’t see through them. They have a lifetime Guarantee. We can no longer bring them to the Venice store to exchange them. They refused to exchange our cups.We now have to mail them, at our expense, and you decide whether you want to replace them or not. We have been buying tervis products for years and sent many other friends and family and spent many hundred dollars of dollars on your merchandise and now we will never buy one more tervis product from you again. We are going to complain to the BBB about your guarantee. All you do is recycle your plastic and make new products. Why did you have to change your policy? You will be losing a lot of very unhappy customers. Hope to be hearing from your customer service department.

Hi! I created and ordered a personalized cup from a design I created myself for my son who together we are starting an audio business. We were denied and I contacted Tervis via live chat and explained and she approved my order. This is for a Birthday present and I have been waiting only to find an email I overlooked saying we were denied after the person I spoke to autorized the design? My order number was 7112541 and the response came with a new order number of 1486402. This is a present needed by 31 August. Can you help me get this ordered? I only noticed it was cancelled because payment was held in my account and now it has been released the amount was $45 and its for only one water bottle. Last year I ordered a dozen cups for my husbands work using thier logo and no one said a word. It was for an Urgent Care company. This is one cup for a company and design that is my own . I do not understand.

I have been buying Tervis Tumblers for 34 years. At present there are 36 16 oz tumblers, 5 large tumblers and 3 water bottles and 6 Mugs in this house, not counting the 4 -16 oz glasses with cracks around the top and a mug with the Lady Vols patch slid down inside.
I know about the guarantee and have used it once or twice in the past. However, I had an additional question before returning these for replacement. I called and there were 5 people before me after holding for over 10 minutes so I left a message asking the following: Since you no longer have the glasses we are sending back, can we pick others for replacements so that we will actually like what we have and if we prefer a wrap glass instead of a patch, can we send a check for the $4.00 for each lid? I was to receive a response within 24 hours but it was more than 24 hrs. when the call was returned and they did not answer the questions at all. They left a message that just told me how to go to the return area of the site and what I would find. A very long message of everything I already knew and I told them I had already been there but need answers to 2 question before I filled out the form and made the return. THIS IS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR SUCH A GREAT PRODUCT. YOUR CUSTOMER CARE PEOPLE SHOULD LISTEN TO THE MESSAGES LEFT AND ANSWER THE QUESTION, NOT JUST REPEAT THE BASICS. WE ARE NOT STUPID AND CAN READ THE INFO ON THE RETURN SITE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to have more people on the phones, unless no one cares.
I have been on hold twice for fifteen minutes each time, being told there were 13 other callers ahead.
Not good for business.

We own several Tervis cups and we a very happy with them.
But I have ONE problem. One of the glasses I take to work in the morning filled with ice water and a slice of lemon. The glass has gotten very cloudy and I cannot seem to get rid of the cloudiness. Please respond with a suggestion.
Thank you – Pat

Hi,
I live in the perfect town for a tervis store but there currently aren’t any. I recently moved from Key West, Florida and greatly appreciated the Tervis tumbler while I lived there. Since I’ve been back in my hometown, I have realized that not many people are familiar with them in this area. I gave a few to some friends and they love them! Is it possible to franchise a tervis store? If so, I would be very interested. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best Regards,
Jayne
