Melissa Livingston founded Twisted Wares (AKA Missy Well Made, Inc.) in McKinney, Texas, after losing everything in the recession of 2008. She left Seattle to move in with family members. Livingston knew she had to make something different than plain old embroidered hand towels, and after her toddler son had pulled down her kitchen towel off the oven door handle for the umpteenth time, Livingston created the “Hang Tight Towel.” This simple design uses a strip of elasticized cloth to hold the towel in place.
Livingston is also fond of slightly naughty sayings that she adorns her towels with. The business began to thrive. The company expanded their product line to include aprons, napkins, house banners, decorative pillows, potholders, and t-shirts.
The company’s latest internet ad features two drag queens discussing the benefits of the product.
