Timex can trace its roots back to 1854 when they were the Waterbury Clock Company of Connecticut. At the time, numerous clock makers were operating out of Connecticut. Timex is the only company from that region that is still in business. The company changed its name to Timex in 1941.

Timex has evolved and now also produces heart rate monitors, GPS watches, and other high tech devices.
