Car Keys Express was founded by Mark Lanwehr in 2002. Looking for a way to quickly pay off his student loans, Lanwehr began selling used automotive key remotes from his dining room table. No one in his family nor his friends thought he would sell very many, let alone enough to make a dent in his student loans.
While selling the remotes, he began to create a database about every car manufacturer and model. He credits that database with his success. Today, Car Keys Express is the world’s largest manufacturer, distribution and seller of replacement keys, keyless remotes, and related technologies.
The company operates 3 divisions; iKeyless.com, Solid Keys USA, and Car Keys Express. Operating in 42 states, this is the only national discount mobile key vendor.
In 2015, Lanwehr introduced the world’s first universal car keys at APEX, which was named the best new product that year.
The company has been named on the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest growing companies for the past 3 consecutive years.
Company headquarters remains in Louisville, Kentucky.
