Green Burrito began as a single, private fast food restaurant in Hawaiian Gardens, California. It was purchased in 1980 by Ruben Rodriguez, who began expanding the chain into several locations. CKE, Inc. who owns Carl’s Jr. restaurants, bought the chain in 2001.
Green Burrito, along with Red Burrito, offers fast food, Mexican-American style food, including beef, bean, and chicken burritos,tacos, taquitos, and taco “salads”. The company currently has more than 3,300 locations overall, including the Carl’s Jr., Green Burrito, and Red Burrito brands. Some locations incorporate both a Green Burrito menu inside of a Carl’s Jr. restaurant.
