BE&K was founded in 1972 by and named after Peter Bolvig, William Edmonds, and Ted Kennedy after the three friends/employees left Rust International and began their own construction company.
While the company began with a focus on construction, today it has global offices that specialize in engineering, as well as construction.
BE&K’s family of companies includes Saginaw, SW&B Construction Corporation, As-Built Services, QBEK, The BE&K Building Group, BE&K Government Group, BE&K International, Rintekno, Allstates Technical Services, and NorthStar Communications Group.
In May 2008, the company was acquired by construction firm KBR for $550 million.
BE&K provides advanced manufacturing as well as distribution, aerospace, biotech and pharma, food and beverage, mission-critical, healthcare, higher education, and commercial clients.
In 2015, KBR made the decision to rebrand all KBR buildings as BE&K offices.
In February 2020, Frank Holley was named CEO and President.
BE&K maintains a corporate office in Birmingham, Alabama.
