Sweet Leaf Tea Company was founded in 1998 by Clayton Christopher and David Smith in Beaumont, Texas. Christopher wanted to make a bottled iced tea that tasted like homemade. He used his grandmother’s recipe for sweet tea brewed with cane sugar and a $10,000 loan to start his company. This pair of friends originally brewed their tea using large crawfish pots. They also employed the use of pillowcases, which worked as giant tea bags.
Nestle Waters of North America invested $15.6 million in the company in 2009. The company offers many types of flavored teas, sold in glass bottles, such as original sweet tea, citrus green tea, lemon, peach, mango, and pomegranate tea. Christopher has stepped down as CEO of the company in 2012. Also, since that time, the company has replaced brewed organic tea with tea concentrates.

I buy 3 large bottles of Sweetleaf peach tea each week and this week each of the bottles had liquid that tasted like flavored water. I hope this is a onetime experience. If you’ve changed the recipe–it’s terrible. Please let me know if ot has changed because I won’t buy anymore.
Thank you for your time.

i buy your tea in a local foodstore here in scottsboro,al. and i have just one complaint. when i buy things i always check the expiration date. on the bigger bottles of your diet tea i have found that it is almost impossible to read the expire date. i bought a bottle one time and it had a terrible taste and i finally found the date and it was long expired. im thinking that the stockers couldnt find the date and just said the heck with it, like i said, can you find a different way of putting the date on the bottles where people can read them. thank you.
