Why do you play such annoying music in the store? It sounds like a CD from the Dollar Store. Every other business pays music to enhance your shopping experience. I have to leave the store because the music is so bad.

I go into the location in Asheville, North Carolina and the manager of the store is a bit much. She even went to her cashiers while we were waiting in line and the front of the store was full talking about pushing credit cards! Seriously? Her name was Marcy. Im sorry but I dont want to be pushed into a credit card nor should a business be ran like this. I feel sorry for the staff that has to deal with this woman. Especially the cashier’s.

I ordered two men’s shirts for a birthday gift. The one shirt came but in the second package was a dress?? WTH. I called and was told that I would get a label to mail them back the dress and if I wanted the shirt I would have to re order it pay for it again and then when they get the shirt they would credit my card at that time. This is complete BS! I didn’t put the wrong item in the package but I’m suppose to be at their beckon call and mail their mistake back! I am extremely disappointed with my service and don’t know that I will ever order again. It’s all about Steinmart not the paying customer obviously

Stein Mart ,put simply, does not want to hear from their customers, so do not bother to call or write. And certainly stay away from the stores, unless you enjoy being mistreated. Then you will fit right in.

I went into the Paradise Valley Stein Mart. I had a bad customer service experience with the lady who works as a sales person on the floor and works in the dressing room. She didn’t want to help me find another size. So, I decided to just leave the store without purchasing anything. But then I thought that the manager might like to know my experience. So, I asked for the manager. She walked up to me with a scowl on her face and asked what I needed. I told her of my experience. She said ” all I can do is say sorry”. She has to be the most apathetic manager I have ever seen. I asked her name and she said it was Lori. I said that she just lost a customer and she could have cared less. Maybe, as a manager she might have said let me help you with a smaller size or something to that matter. But, from the look on her face and attitude she obviously does not like her job or her customers.

I was at the Hoover Alabama location off of John Hawkins Parkway on 1-15-19. I and others who were in the store were disappointed that you are closing the store. It is the closet store location for people who live on the western side of Jefferson County. The other two stores are too far in distance for some to pay extra on gas to go shop. They are located in areas that I myself do not normally travel unless something unusual comes up that I need to go to in the areas. I do take my mother to a appointment sometimes that is in the general area of one of the stores, but she does not go shopping these days.

am planning to build an indoor mall in Eastern Kentucky in the next 2 years with 24 stores and two large anchors. I WANT STEIN MART, and you will be the ONLY large clothing store in the mall. The people in E. Ky drive two hours to get to Lexington to shop now. They will come to my mall instead. Tell Mr. Stein I will be in touch with him in a few months.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR CORPORATE OFFICES–EXECUTIVE IN CHARGE OF DEVELOPMENT!!!!! I have called and written several times and would love to know that my suggestion has at least been received and forwarded to senior management. Minneapolis, MN is a perfect market for a Steinmart store. And the timing couldn’t be better! In downtown Minneapolis, in particular, where the apt./condo/townhouse occupancy has skyrocketed, residents are clamoring for a quality, well-priced retail store. Prior to the resurgence of downtown living, Daytons, Donaldsons, and Powers (I believe) were based here. Recently, one of our suburban favorites Herbergers closed several locations. We have the Mall of America with several anchor stores (Bloomingdales, Sears, Nordstroms, etc.), but many people prefer not to shop at such a huge venue. I believe employees and residents of our downtown area, as well as in first-ring suburbs would nicely support a Steinmart. We currently have a Marshalls and Target, as well as two discount outlets. Steinmart would offer quality and accessible price points. Best, Norma Schuh, Minneapolis, MN 55404

I live in the Boston area and recently you closed a store in the Boston area which was not in a highly trafficked area. I’m contacting you to see if you would consider opening a store in Framingham, MA via Route 9 as it is a very highly trafficked area with a mall and surrounded by a Shoppers World consisting of Nordstrom Rack and numerous other stores. This part of Route 9 is referred to as “monied Route 9” which means a well established area.
My family, friends and I enjoyed shopping at Steinmart but it was in not in a convenient part of town plus it was located in the back of a mall near a fitness gym which did not generate a lot of traffic.
Please consider investing another store in the Boston area and hopefully you will consider Route 9 within the Natick or Framingham, MA area.

I have been a Stein-Mart shopper for many years. A week ago I shopped my local store, Inverness Area on Highway 280 in Shelby County, Alabama. Bought around $70.00 in Father’s Day gifts. When I went to check out, two women of color were running the register. Both were very angry acting, talking about “Jim Crow”. The older woman wadded my knit shirts up , tossing them on the counter as she rung them up. Wadded! I picked them up, without speaking, and folded them and she stuffed them into the bag. The other one “snorted” in a disgusted tone.
Even though I love Stein-Mart, I doubt very much that I will shop there again. I will not spend good money to be treated badly by workers.

In my email to SteinMart I stated I no longer had any items you are now telling me to send you. I also said when I received it, I tried it on and it fit fine. So, I discarded the packing slip & other info in the package. I followed instructions on washing it. I did not even use soap. I just washed it in cold water as instructed and hung it up to dry. I never put in the dryer. Thanksgiving was the first time I wore it and found this top had shrunk not only one size, but two sizes.
Now you are telling me there is a fee of $7.50 to even return this item for replacement. Added to that, another fee for “Return Parcel Post”. Outrageous!
I have no intention of paying more money to return an “inferior” product. I was going to order more from SteinMart but because of this shoddy customer service I am taking SteinMart off my “shopping list” and will no longer buy anything from you.

Several times a week I receive ,via email, percentage off coupons, sometimes several coupons included in one email. Sometimes I also print coupons online.
When I go to my local Steinmart in Royal Palm Beach Fl and attempt to use the coupons, I am told that I can use only one coupon per transaction. This makes no sense since in the course of one week I receive several coupon offers. I certainly will not make several trips to the store to redeem these coupons. I have no problem using several coupons at Macy’s or Beall’s Department Stores among others.
The person at the cash register has to ask a manager for permission to allow more than one coupon per sale (I had four 20% coupons and a total of 10 items to purchase..6 without coupons). The purchase line was being held up because of the need to call a manager for approval.
I find this to be a very customer unfriendly policy that I would like to be changed.

I’m very upset concerning your new return policy not states on your receipt. I purchased 3 pair of jeans. One pair was $79.00 and the other two pair were the same jeans different sizes , because i was unfamiliar with the brand I wasn’t sure how they fit. When I returned the $79.00 doll jeans because I got them cheaper online they gave me a warning slip with my return receipts. When I questioned this action the cashier didn’t under what to do or say so I asked for a manager. She said, “it was something new just implemented she didn’t understand and to call the number on the receipt.” the young there implied they tract merchandise people return for credit without purchasing the items (stealing is what I understood). Since I used my Stein-mart credit card to purchase and the cashier could see the items purchased.. I was well within the return timeline with tags attached I didn’t understand why the return was denied. The manager was very RUDE and unprofessional. and said she was unable to assist me with the problem. She hope I have a good day. I stated, I was having a very bad day she said ,YOU WOKE UP THIS MORNING. THAT SHOULD BE A GOOD DAY. I’m not sure if your company has started profiling but I would like to know if every customer that make a return is treated this way. Stein Mart automatically raised my account to $5000 without me asking, I have 800 credit score , I don’t need to steal. This is very demeaning and hurtful. I plan to close my account. It is RUDE to subject you customers to this kind of treatment. By the way my account balance is less than $250.00 plenty of to purchase not steal. DISAPPOINTED

Dear Mr.Stein,
I made purchases on 8/16/17 at your Stein Mart #284 McMullen Booth rd. Clearwater FL. I purchased a number of items which included (3) Bobby Jones shirts, shades, and a cap. When I got home that day I tried the shirts on only to discover they were too large and did not fit. I paid the purchase with $50.00 cash and the balance on my Amex card $117.14 The next day 8/17/17,I returned the (3) shirts along with a pair of shades. I exchanged (2) shirts for the correct size and ask for a credit for the third shirt along with the shades. The cashier #906312900 presented me with the receipt. The receipt was like none I have ever seen before. The total at the bottom was $10.96 I ask where was the credit for the shirt and she argued that it was on the receipt. After a 15/20 minute denial. I ask for the manager after a 10/15 minutes she tells me it will show up on my next Amex. bill. When I received my Amex bill the only credit was $10.96 for the shades I returned, no credit for $50.00. I returned on 8/17/17 asked for Michelle store manager she precedes to tell me the cashier gave me the $50.00. I said you are both lying. I never received $50.00 cash from anyone. The cashier #900324600 and Michelle have a huge problem with the truth. I ask for my $50.00 and Michelle tells me they will have security view the tape! I get a call from Tyler that day stating to me that he see the cashier counting the $50 out to me and me putting the money in my wallet. This is a flat out lie I have never received The $50 credit owed me. What this Tyler failed to recognize in the tape was what he viewed was me paying for the shirts and shades on 8/16/17. I ask to view the tapes so I could correct his flat out lie and he said oh no you can’t look at them. I asked the corporate receptionist if I could speak with the VP of retail, again oh no. I would ask for a corporate audit to verify the reconciling of the cashiers till for that day. In my opinion Tyler the security tells me the credit was very unusual the way it was handled. In my opinion without a doubt either the cashier 906312900, or Michelle the Manager pocketed the $50. It is very possible that this Stein Mart has pulled these shannanigans on a number of their senior citizens. I will research further to see if we can file a class-action law suit against Stein Marts unacceptable behavior in proper and normal charge with cash returns. I will be contacting my Attorney for further legal action against Stein Mart.

I was recently at your store in Huntington Beach and left very upset feeling like I would not go back in again and feel that you do not protect your client’s personal information and with certain transaction put us at risk of ID theft. As a result, I have a gift that I cannot return unless I allow you to obtain information that I hold secure, putting me at risk for identity theft.
I am in this store frequently and spend quite a bit of money each year. In all the many purchases that I make, they are all made on a visa and not one time had anyone ever asked to see identification. Yesterday, I tried to return a gift that I was given. I had the receipt but because I did not have my friend’s visa, the only way I could return this was for your company to scan the very private information on my driver’s license into your system in return for a gift card. I have no problem with the gift card, but I do have a very serious problem with you obtaining and putting into your system my very private information.
With the hackers that hit places like Target, Blue Shield, putting thousands at risk for ID theft, I do not want my information in a system that is not necessary. You may feel your system is safe, but so did Target, Blue Shield and many more that get hacked each year.
You are not concerned with the hundreds of dollars taken each year on credit cards, never verifying the validity of the card, but for an $18 return, you want to put me at risk of ID theft. Nothing about this makes sense.
You need to have better policies so that you do not put your customers who support you throughout the year as such a great risk!

I shopped the Madison,Ms store on June 17, 2017 and the lines were horrible. A customer asked one of the cashiers if they can open up some more lines and she said there was only one manager, two cashiers and associates on the floor who did not know how to work the register. This is unacceptable. It was a sale that started today and there was no associates in the store. I tried to stay in the long lines because I needed a blouse. Customers were leaving there items in the middle of the floor and walking out. Whoever the store manager of the Madison store needs to be written up or fired.

Good morning…. I have a question for the corporate office?? I have been a loyal customer for many years, and right now I am angry with some of your “sale policies”. This morning at 4:30AM I received your email about 50% off of items that I payed full price for at 7:30PM last evening, less than 9:00 hours before the 50% off sale!!! NOT FAIR!! Most stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, even Marshal’s staff would tell and give customers the next days sale prices (esp. if it is only hours away)! I asked your staff if theses items would be on sale soon, she politely said she did not have that information. WHY do you have such a policy? This is not the fist time this has happened to me, the very last time I shopped there same thing… next day big sale. Poop poo on you and your sale, pay attention to your loyal customers and they will return! Perhaps when a loyal customer has their ” loyal customer number entered into your system at checkout the next days sale prices should be given!! Play fair here, I can shop anywhere in the LA area, perhaps I should and just move on to stores that reward loyal customers. I will make a copy of my receipt just in case your corporation would like to see my purchases and do the right thing and offer me the 50% off of the now on sale items I purchased just hours before the sale began.
I will be waiting for some kind of response from your company. Total amount spent was $124.95!

I began working for the I-55 store in Jackson, Ms. June 2016. I no longer wor ther because I was forced to quit by store manager Loretta Lindsey and the Assistant Store Manager Theresa. Working there was a living hell!
On September 10,2017. I had requested off or to work until 2:00 pm. I gave three weeks in advance notice. I was scheduled to close. I got that corrected, was getting off at 2:00pm. I was at the register checking out when Loretta walked up behind the register and stated to Dee the cashier, she didn’t come pick up theses shoes, I was standing in line checking out. Loretta the stated but so fuss and cut up when another person don’t do something. This is the store manager talking about me to another employee and knowing that I could hear her. I had some one who was in line and heard it also they were very angry. Also I had picked up shoes. The cashier kept giving confuse announcement about shoe specials. So customer were told one thing over the mic and get to the register and told something different. So shoes were left at the counter.
Both the store manager and the Assistant manager gossip with employees, let certain people leave the store and never clock out for lunch, keep things in their office and back room for them selves and certain employees until it is reduced to go in the $5 room. The assistant manager Theresa is having an affair with Loss Prevention person.
Theft is extremely high in this particular store. I watched as people come in and talk with a lot of persons who have worked there for years. It appears that they are tipped off as when yo come in that particular store. Also all surrounding SteinMart stores send their mark downs to this location and Greenville. Loretta, Theresa, and two older black women there purchase all the Michael Kors and better name brands things before it is put on the floor. Loretta ns Theresa also permits them to hide it until they have the money to purchase the stuff. It is in a little room in the back of the $5 room. These ladies calls up their friends also and place thins aside for them, both managers and Loss Prevention knows this.
In December I was sent home by Theresa, she stated that I was being insubordinate to her. I was walking my son to his car after he purchased a Christmas present for me. She said I was shopping. Just a week before that Theresa was paged over head. We searched for her through out the store, she was paged for thirty minutes. When foud she was shopping on the clock with her in- laws. The treatment as an employee working with those women was horrible. The atmosphere of the entire store is horrible. Everyone knows tha management is unprofessional, and keeps the store hostile. The turn over rate is high, thugs have been reported to the Area Supervisor Steve. Still theses women are allowed to keep that store in turmoil. I was did horribly wrong but one thing, when God get enough. I not going to down grade Stein Mart but I don’t have respect for CEO’s who never talk to the back bone workers like my self. We leane the 9-5amd still come give your stores 100%. Yet still we are never recognized. I know managers are hard to come by, but what’s at the Jackson, MS. Store as managers is a disgrace.

I was looking at my credit report yesterday, 4 April 2017, and saw where my credit score with Equifax had gone down. When checking reason it was because my account with Stein Mart had been closed. Since I did not close the account I contacted the number on the back of the card and after going thru all the choices I finally reached a human who told me my account had been closed due to inactivity. I asked why I was not contacted before this action was taken and she did not know. I asked them to contact Equifax and report the reason of closure since it effected my credit score negatively. They told me they could not help. Asked for CEO’ s name and number. They give me the name Margaret Kean which is not the name of the Stein Mart CEO and they did not know the phone number. It turned out I was actually talking with the bank who issued the card and not Stein Mart. Called Stein Mart and was transferred to the CEO and of course had to leave number. Doubt if I ever hear from them but if I don’t in 3 days I will pursue legal action against Stein Mart and Synchrony Bank since the supervisor at the bank said he knew it would effect my credit score negatively.

Can you understand that as we left – We decided to shop elsewhere? Never again in Stein mart – and by the way – remove 1014 Brookhaven Dr in Aiken SC from your mail out list or (Current resident) as you put on all your mail.

Dear Steinmart,
I have a caveat that I would like you to add to your return policy, both online and written on the return/invoice slip. It is imperative that you state that with the unused items and invoice, one also needs to have the payment CREDIT CARD available when returning online items to a Steinmart store. Today, I had a very negative experience with Steinmart, one that has permanently changed my opinion for the worse. I ordered several items online which I had to return due to size or color. I do not live near a Steinmart. My mother does live near a Steinmart, so I gave her the items and the invoice, and asked her to return them for me. Well, despite the fact that the return policy does NOT say that the payment card must also be present, she could not return them. They would only give her store credit. Again, I do not live near a Steinmart. I wish she would have just held onto the items for me , then I would have given her my card or returned the items by mail, but she didn’t. Now I have store credit for well over $100 that is a burden to use. It can’t be used online, and since my Mom has had her own share of bad experiences with Steinmart, she no longer shops there. Please, PLEASE add the fact that the payment card is also required when returning items to a store. Had the the return policy, which I read thoroughly, TWICE, said this, all would have turned out well, I would have been satisfied, and I would have continued to shop at Steinmart.com. Instead, I am writing this complaint/suggestion, and I am highly upset. Also, the customer service rep at the 888 number was apparently hearing disabled. I told her that I wanted to request that the need for the credit card be added to the return policy and all she kept saying was “That’s our policy. If you do not have your credit card…..” blah, blah, blah. I told her twice that she was not understanding what I was saying, and both times she just repeated her script. I finally said “good bye” and hung up. That kind of rep makes a store look bad, and my opinion was already pretty low. Thank you for your time.

I do not approved of your decision to band Ivanka Trump lines. Why are you letting politics gets between your business. Ivan Trump has nothing to do with her father. How would you like it if they go after your wife or children because of your bad behavior? You cannot take it out on her. She’s not the president her father is. I am very disappointed that Stein Mart would join with the other POS companies to band her. Truly disappointed.

I look forward to your response.

Attention: Mr. J. Stein
I did not realize our cut off billing date of my Steinmart charge account. During the Christmas shopping season we did purchase by computer a $25 gift card for our granddaughter.
I left for 3 weeks for Christmas Holidays in Texas to be with family. We had our mail held at the Post Office. Upon arriving home and catching up mail, realized I was late getting your payment out. It was mailed Jan. 6 and cashed Jan. 10. I wrote a brief explanation on the actual bill of having been out of town. I do understand you have policies to follow on late payments. Though, I do question 100% of bill being charged again. That’s quite a late fee. I did mail this to your bank today. Please send a zero balance statement and close my charge account. I will destroy my card on your confirmation. All in all, being in my 70’s, this is not a time in my life I desire bad credit.
Thank you for taking your time with this note.

I seriously don’t know where you are getting these mangers from! But, it’s pathetic! Marcy Reed 1925 east Main Street Hillcrest shopping Center Spartanburg, SC
29307. Over 20 + employees have left since she came there! Three of them left several weeks before Chistmas! That’s pretty sad! Looks to me like someone should be doing some investigation. Maybe the guy, named Paul needs to talk to the employees instead of the manager! If you want good employees you have to be good to them! Good management goes a long way! I know a lot of people have complained about her, and still nothing has been done, she also rides everybody about them credit cards! I for one don’t have one, don’t want one. I wished u would quit trying to get her help to push credit cards on customers! Customers don’t just go there for shopping, a lot of the time it’s to visit the employees, cause most of them are sweet & kind, but Marci is bring them down! If something isn’t done you are going to lose a lot of customers and good Employees!

Went to the store a couple of times, and while I was shopping I heard one of the managers Mandy yelling at the other employees in front of customers. And I know her name because the other employees called out her name. She was also bullying them by saying really mean things. To me, that’s very unprofessional. They really need to train all the employees. She was bullying one in particular. It’s the store in Colorado Springs off of N Nevada St. Well, I can guarantee you that I’m not coming to your store anymore. And I will tell all my friends about it too. They all don’t deserve my business, and I will take this in public!

I made an online purchase and visited your Westboro, MA store today to make returns. It took four employees including the manager 45+ minutes to make my return with a receipt. After many attempts to process the refund by manipulating the item price and tax, the manager finally refunded me with two separate transactions and I ended up getting $4 more than I paid. When I later reviewed the receipt, I was only refunded for 2 of the 3 items I was returning and instead of just processing a refund for the 3rd item, the manager gave me an adjustment and she grabbed an item from the area which was actually $4 more than I paid. In addition, the first two employees who were attempting to refund me were loudly arguing and the manager had to send one of them on break to diffuse the situation. The other customers were not pleased with the wait when the lines were backing up.
I was actually very patient throughout the process but I left the store angry when the manager got defensive and started making excuses for her and her staff. In addition, the first two employees who were attempting to refund me were loudly arguing and the manager had to send one of them on break to diffuse the situation.
I just starting shopping at your store and the idea of shopping online with the ability to make a return at a local store is what I found appealing. Because of my experience today, I am not sure I will continue to shop at Stein Mart. Frankly, I do not believe your prices are that good. I found items cheaper at Macy’s and Amazon.
If interested, I would be more than willing to speak with someone further about my experiences.

My wife was in your store here in Vero Beach yesterday and as she was checking out she made the comment and said ” guess with the new administration we have to pay for things”. Your clerk then began spuing “liberal garbage” with her finger in my wife’s face saying something about this the last American Christmas, what? She says this was stated in a letter from “your” corporate office.
Really?! Stein Mart has enough of it’s own problems without getting into politics.
Interested in your comments and your training of clerks spreading your liberal agenda through your stores, before this goes viral.

After receiving Stein Mart “Biggest 14Hr Sale of the season” in mail 12/8/2016. I went to store the next day (Preview Day) to purchase their advertised 32PC white porcelain dinnerware set, sale price 29.96. None in stock, had them call two other stores in area, none in stock either. I asked manager for rain check on item and was told they don’t give rain checks. To advertise an item and not have in stock on Preview Day appears to be bad business practice and suggests false advertising. Previous to this report I called customer service and was told someone would get back to me within 48 hr.

Dear Mr. Stein,
My Mother introduced our family to Stein Mart many years ago. Even as a woman of “a certain age” she took great pride in her appearance and remained interested in contemporary fashion and timeless style well into her 90’s. She also enjoyed a bargain so especially loved to shop at Stein Mart.
It was a ritual that we, her daughters and granddaughters, would spend afternoons with Mom at Stein Mart, and that when we weren’t together, we’d share our latest Stein Mart finds by phone.
We regularly shopped at your stores in Richmond, Asheville and Orlando. After Mom’s passing, my sisters, nieces and I made time for a trip to Stein Mart, in honor of Mom, whenever we got together. Shopping at your stores has become a “must-do” for our family and now, with my urging, for my husband and in-laws.
So, yours was the first sale circular that I read on Thanksgiving morning. I was especially interested in the Black Friday Doorbuster of Outerwear at a 50% discount. There were no restrictions mentioned in this specific outerwear offer other than price parameters of $59.99 – $199.99.
I arrived at the Asheville store as the doors opened on Friday morning, specifically to purchase a coat but with other items on my list as well. I found the perfect coat, priced at around $90 and then filled my cart with purchases for myself and my family.
Imagine my surprise when, at check out, the coat rang up at full price. I was informed that, despite no mention of such in your ad, that the 50% discount was on “selected” outerwear only.
Mr. Stein, I left the store on Friday morning, empty-handed. I am deeply disappointed in what felt like a deliberate misrepresentation, especially so from a store that has always felt like a trusted part of our family.
Sadly, it pains me to say “goodbye” but it no longer feels comfortable for me to spend my time and money at Stein Mart. After sharing my experience, my family and many friends will most likely feel the same way.
Please consider making a change to your advertising so that any restrictions are apparent and clearly understood. If that had been the case, we could remain loyal customers and among Stein Mart’s biggest fans.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Holstein

All that has changed. I use to go there, and shop never came out without buying something.
The shopping there for something awfulll. The merchandise is terrible compare to days pass. Looks like a junk shop. Please, go back to selling better merchandise. Thank you.

What happened to your store in Jenkintown, Pa.
I have been a good customer since you opened.
I could not believe my eyes, when I went there on
Sat.,Oct. 29th. What a mess greeted you when you
walked in! IT LOOKS LIKE A DOLLAR STORE OR SOME
JUNK STORE. I will not do anymore shopping there.
Sorry I hate losing you as a good friend, but apparently
you don’t care. Because I was told these orders came from Corporate!
Maybe you should check out what is going on.

Spartanburg store needs better mangement, everyone of the mangers is Rude except for Robob, she is the kindest sweetest person as a manager , I’ve ever met! Marci Reed and Olga are very rude and don’t even talk to their employees like they should!! They are also rude to the customers! Many people have stated the turn over is getting really bad! If you care a thing at all about your stores. Than I suggest you check them out! People don’t make up stuff like this for know reasons!

Dear Mr.Stein, I would like to say,I think sales are down because There’s no visual in the store’s anymore. I have worked in your store for 11 years doing Visual merchandising. When dawn came along she down sized it, Letting anyone do the visual.I have been in visual for 40 year’s .People in your store would buy everything off the manikin clothes ,jewelry and shoe’s everything.. In your stores ,Visual is very important.People ask me what happened to the stores ,it’s not the same.they don’t shop in there anymore. All of your customers need the fashion already on a manikin,to see how to wear it.That is my retail experience opinion.I will miss all the customers.

I received an E-Gift Card for Mother’s Day for $100. I used it once had the receipt showing there was $55.46 balance on E-Gift Card. Went to the Keller Texas store today and was informed there was no funds left on the E-Gift Card. How embarrassing after the clerk (twice) said there was no funds on the E-Gift Card. She called the Manager – who called whomever Stein Mart uses for E-Gift Cards – speaking to other people who handles these issues was informed their was some kind of a “Glitch” and several others had their funds cleared from the E-Gift Card. They would not correct it then – but hopefully will issue a balance to the person who purchased the E-Gift Card for me for Mother’s Day. Very disappointed in how this was handled and if we every get the funds who knows. We have been a preferred customer and my family wanted me to enjoy my shopping experience at Stein Mart. Right.:(!!

I was clearing out some papers and I was reminded of a phone call I received from you following up on a complaint I made. I told the woman that I was mislead and lied to by one of your employees at the Dr. Philips store in Orlando. I had opened an account because of the miss information I was given and when I realized that I closed the account. This woman apologized and told me she would make it up to me by sending me a very nice gift card so that I would give the store another chance. Well apparently I was lied to again because I never received any gift card. Also I never received the original bills and wound up paying interest that I shouldn’t have paid. So I guess you can say I am not a happy customer. Is this how you treat all you customers?
I would like to receive a response from you.
Thank You,

Mon June 6th, visited store in Daytona Bch to return a quilt. When I washed it (before using it), it fell apart. I put it in a plastic zipper bag and took it to the check out counter. The clerk was so rude. Before I could say anything, she told me that that was not the bag it came in, and that she wouldn’t take it back because she couldn’t resell it. I told her she couldn’t resell it because it was unraveling. So she credited my debit card. Bad attitude. I shopped and got this same clerk at check out. The lady before me had a huge purchase. I waited patiently. When my turn came, this clerk was so rude, told me that she had to hurry because her manager would get on her for being slow. I was trying to find the coupon on my phone. What a terrible experience. Otherwise I like Stein Mart – I’ve always had good service before. The bed/linens department buyer has great taste. Housewares look cheap, though. great clothes. Wish there were more in plus sizes.

Hi my name is Ashley Crain and I use to work for the Vero beach stein mart. I have recently just resigned, and a day after I have resigned the assistant manager texted me “why did you quit? You suck”. Now you wonder why the turn over rate is so bad at that store it’s because management talks to their employees like this. I was in the ladies department and I was a hard worker I was going to keep 2 nights there but there is so much drama with the managers turning employees against eachother I couldn’t take it anymore and to get a text like that after all my hard work is very hurtful. I don’t deserve to hear that when all I did is put blood sweat and tears working there. I came in on my days off and always stayed extra hours since we were short handed and to be treated like this is unfair. I believe if you don’t do anything, nothing will change and you will continue to lose great employees, This has been a problem for a long time and something needs to be done.

Went to Steinmart today with a 20% off birthday coupon. Says excludes Red dot clearance, gift cards Fabulous Finds, BOGO, Specials, mad dash and door buster merchandise. Went to check out with a Nine West purse for $29.98 and cashier said I could not use the coupon. I had went back and looked at the shelve and none of the above reasons were advertised, needless to say I did not make the purchase of that or any item I had planned to purchase. Your company should note all exclusions on their coupons.

MY MISTAKE…
Sorry – I tried to write an informative request to corporate and I see this email address seems to only be for those who want to complain……how do I contact Corporate Stein Mart for a positive request? Sure, there are problems at EVERY store but there is also good at every store…..that is the marketplace. If the people at a particular store are unhappy then contact the store manager. Geez………..
Tammy Robinson says
Gail – you can use the info provided to contact the corporate office or you can leave your compliment here. Stein Mart might not have received many compliments, but other companies do. Thanks for asking!

Well it’s official – we knew it was coming but – Stein Mart is making a HUGE mistake. Our store in Chino Hills is closing in August, 2016 and you are not opening another store around this area. The closest is Glendora or Rancho Cucamonga and that is 10-15 miles each direction away from Chino. If you know anything about California traffic – you will realize that your customers will NOT drive freeways – all that way – to stop in a browse around the store and possibly buy. PLEASE re-consider finding another spot in the Chino Spectrum – even customers driving to Chino from Eastvale which is another 10-15 miles shops at Stein Mart next to Costco – Eastvale has no Stein Mart now either RECONSIDER!

I have never experience this kind of discrimination in my life, I purchased 3 blazers from the Steinhart store in Irving TX 7640 N. MacArthur BLVD. 75063. I paid over $100.00 for each. The items were brand new with all the tags on them and I had the original store receipts. Steinmart marked the items down and placed them on clearance. I went into the store to ask for a price adjustment the store manager came over and stated too me, ” I am not going to play any price adjustment games with you! if you want to return the items you can but you will have to wait until they go back on the floor. Sandy is the store managers name and this lady is the worst! she told me she was not going to refund money for the amount I paid and took the items and walked off into another room. I would like to have this problem addressed, if I cannot get any resolution I will make it my mission to inform everyone I can about how this woman discriminated against me, because while I was in line their were to women of another race that had no problems with similar transactions.

I am curious if upper management handled any of these issues with the managers in the stores!!!!! I notice slit of turn over in the store I shop in, like an entire new crew every couple months. What that tells me, there is something wrong at the top and the district managers, and VP’s, HR and Loss Prevention are flat out ignoring it. You would think with labor being your most controllable expense, they sure are spending a lot on training people over and over. I’m sure, part time with no benefits. I would think that when you read the history of Steinmart, they would care more about their employees.

I bought a pair of Skechers Flex shoe in At Stein Mart in Ocean, NJ on Dec. 3, 2015.
I wore them and found them comfortable. However they soon started to come apart on the side. I was now in FL. Today I went to Stein Mart in Naples, FL to return them. I had the sales receipt, but the store would not accept their return. Supposedly because I did not have the box they came in!
Your return policy says returns with a valid receipt will be accepted within 60 days of purchase. It says on the receipt I can return by 2/1/16! I am most displeased with the way I way in which this was handled!

I am a long time customer of your store, but recently at one of your locations, Collins st in Arlington, tx…….I went in during Christmas and bought a great deal of merchandise $300, and the clerk asked me if I want to apply for a credit card and get a big savings, I said NO but my mother was with me and they said she could apply instead of me, and that I would still get the discount on my CASH purchase. About a month later my mother received a cc statement and it was the amount that I had already paid cash for. The Manager of the Store (Amanda) was made aware of this situation, and said she would get back in touch with me as soon as she watched the video at the register to see how the transaction took place. I called her several times and she never seemed to be in the store, and my mother did the same, still no call back (its been 2 weeks). I don’t want my mother stressed out about this bill, she is termly ill and does not need this worry. My mother was there at the counter the day I made my purchase and the manager tried to tell my mother that I (her daughter) must have deceived her. My mother was so angry, that the lady was so suggestive of such thing, she called me crying. My mother was there, she told the manager that that was not the case and that she was standing there when I gave the cashier the CASH. I don’t want to be like the manager and suggest anything out of line, but the only person that could have deceived any one was the CASHIER. The receipt that the cashier gave us after I paid her CASH, she gave us a receipt that was charged, so you do the math?! I hope someone can help us resolve this matter we can not get the manager (Amanda) to help us or even call us back.

I just got hung up on twice by your customer service so called managers. I have a revolving charge account which carries a balance throughout the year. This means I shop a lot at Stein Mart. I wanted to.pay my Bill in full but asked as a courtesy to waive the late fee. This would be the 2nd time this year. And they refused. During the conversation the phone went dead twice. BAD BAD BAD .I will never set foot in Stein Mart nor will my mother, aunt’s and anyone else I know. As a matter of fact I am going to send a letter to the business section of the newspaper about the horrible customerservice . I understand policy but don’t need to waste my time on the phone and then get hung up on!!!!

I am never a person to gripe and complain on these sites but I was shocked, overwhelmed, and very concerned with the way your staff and especially the loss prevention idiot you hired. I have been a customer of your Stein Mart, Winston Salem since I’ve known it existed. I have never once had any kind of issue with this store or for the record any store like I did today. I walked into your store today with a bag of returns/clothes that I had previously bought to find and to wear for an upcoming wedding. I walked in and there were huge lines, I was in a hurry to find a pair of pants and to be out of there. Which usually isn’t a problem as I have done so in the past. So I walked into the petite dept (which is right next to the busy registers I might add) and was walking around with my bag around my wrist looking for pants. I was making decisions as to what I wanted to try on and holding my bag around my wrist to make it known to other people it was there and visible. I was also holding up my selection of pants in the same hand as my bag that was around the same wrist so it was very visible!!!!! Not once in these 20-25 mins that I was walking around in plane site did I have a sales associate ask me if I was looking for something or do I need to have some returns nothing of such thing in this timeframe. So with me still going about my business I walked up to the dressing room where a nice associate looked at my clothes with my bag in hand and said go ahead. She was very nice. So I went into the dressing room and shut the door ready to try on my pants. Not a second later I heard a male voice talk to the associate and say to her, a girl just walked into the dressing room with a bag. I heard the woman say oh I didn’t see a bag. And then the ignorant black man who was apparently hired by your regional office as loss prevention said you didn’t see the “Asian girl” walk into the dressing room with a bag? I just stood there in the dressing room listening to this conversation with my mouth wide open! First of all you ignorant a**hole I’m not Asian!!!!!!!! Second thing that came out of the associates mouth was she looked nice with what she was wearing? Wtf?!?!?!! I have never been so humlilated like this in my life!!!! I didn’t even want to come out, I was mortified!!!!!! So I stepped out and because of the “genius” loss prevention dept he alerted everyone the “Asian girl” was stealing all your merchandise apparently they had collected more people of your staff to tackle my 5″1 self including one of your red-headed step-managers. To which the dressing room had now become conjested due to the sales accosicate doing her job like she should of been doing all along!!!!!! The red-headed step manager looked at me and said I will take the items you no longer want. I said very loudly, I really didnt appreciate the mail voice speaking of myself in that way and I really don’t think I deserved to be treated this way! The red-head step manager quietly apoligized and I stepped to the cash register to return every single piece of clothing I bought from Stein Mart with a valid receipt!!!!!!! I also spoke to another manager ,Diana , who sounded just as brilliant as the loss prevention guy, and let her have it. She apoligized and told me that they had been addressing the situation that just happened. Come on you mean you assessed this within the thirty minutes of this happening…pffffffffftttttttttttttt!!!!!!!! Whatever she apologized. That’s nothing compared to the embarrassment and being singled out that I felt today! Once again I was mortified!!!!! Never in my life have I experienced this type of unprofessionalism and prejudice. It is very sad to see that this prejudice is still happening around the world but to see this still happening to a lady who has lived in this city all my life is a disgrace! Steinmart to which I had been a loyal customer over my many years, is allowing this to be apart of your corporation!!!!! I won’t ever ever step foot in another Steinmart again!!!!!!!!!

Shopping at your store in Louisville, ky yesterday, after standing in line for over 10 minutes, one of your rude workers, pointed at us and started screaming for us to get into another line, we were not in her line. The worker in my line told her to stop that we had been here for quite awhile, she continued. I laid my purchases down and told her she was rude and that was beyond acceptable, she told me if I didn`t like it talk to the manager. I called the manager from the parking lot, you didnt want me to discuss this inside, I promise you that. She apologized and said I will call you back shortly, I want to talk to her. Nothing, no call. You had lost an Elite preferred customer, I have shopped this store since it opened. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

I went to the Hattiesburg store on Monday – Memorial Day 2015. I was looking at some items in housewares and the prices were all messed up, sale signs had been moved around , so I could not tell what price the items were that I was looking at. I went to the closest register and asked the cashier if she could get someone to help me in that department. She said Uhhhhhhhhhhh, let me see. She looked around and I saw her eye locate someone, she picked up the intercom and said Brittany, please come to register 1, Brittany, please come to Register 1, so she said it twice, I saw the girl in the corner by a rack talking to another girl look up and make eye contact, but never moved to come to the register. I stood there and waited several minutes as matter of fact the cashier checked out 3 customers while I was standing there. The cashier turned around and saw me still standing there. She looked over in the direction of the corner again where the 2 girls were still standing talking. She picked up the intercom and Called Brittany again, twice. Evidently this was Brittany standing in the corner, as she made eye contact with the cashier again and turned back to the other girl and said girl, I got to go. They said there goodbyes and Brittany came over to the register. She was pleasant enough and helped with the prices and even walked me back to the register and checked me out. My problem is, Brittany was on the clock to be working, nor visiting with friends or family, which ever it may have been. She should have said he good byes 10 minutes earlier when her name was called. It just infuriates me that companies want us to buy there merchandise, but this is the kind of people they put into management. As I found out today, she is the assistant manager. Go figure.
I worked for Stein Mart for 2 years and moved up through the ranks to Office Manager pretty quickly. This is not how Stein Mart wants there customers to be treated and if customers do not alert them to the problem how will they ever know…

On 11/6/14 and 11/11/14 I had trouble using the coupon for the Boutique. The coupon stated 20% ANY 1 item in the Boutique. On the 6th the associate had to get a manager to come over and verify that I was correct despite me having the coupon. The manager said yes she is correct. Then on the 11th the same thing again, I was trying to purchase a sweater, on the last day of the Veteran’s Day Sale in the Boutique, coupon on my phone. The associate refused to give it to me. A customer behind me stated Ms I have the same advertisement on my phone. we couldn’t pull up the bar code but she could see it. So the associate on another register stated if I wait a minute she will just give it to me. I didn’t appreciate that, I will just give it to you. I didn’t want you to just give it to me , I wanted what you advertised. I just said forget it. Right now I would rather go out of my way to Belk or Dillard’s at the mall to be treated nicely but spend a little more than go right up the street to Stein Mart in Jax. I am a preferred customer, a respectable senior citizen and most of my wardrobe is from Steinmart. But lately, it would seem that Security is more important to Steinmart than Customers.
It is not nice to shop there any more.It would seem that customers are to be considered potential thieves, not your source of income, and all are treated as potential shoplifters.
I went with a friend to Steinmart in Dr. Phillips. Florida, yesterday, September 10 My friend gave up shopping because the fitting room doors were locked. I was more persistent and found a clerk across the store and asked to have it opened. I was told to leave my cart full of clothing selections outside the fitting room and take a few things in by hand. I had to get dressed again to go out of the fitting room to get some other items. Then the door was locked behind me and I had to have it opened again to go back! the salesperson said Security ordered that all fitting rooms be locked and monitored.
Unfortunately, the salesclerk is usually busy stocking somewhere else in the store, so the fitting rooms are essentially unavailable. I ended up so tired of this after a few trips that I just purchased the things in my cart and then tried on at home and returned what didn’t fit today. I won’t do that again. It’s a 25-mile round trip.
I should mention what happened when I returned: my trip was even more unpleasant. in the jewelry department, every time i turned my cart into a new aisle a beeper registered, and tracked me.
I took a purse off a shelf to look at it, and when I put it back on the shelf, an alarm started sounding. Scared me to death.
Stores do have shrinkage problems, but having worked in Marketing my entire life I know, and you should, too, that shrinkage problems are more internal theft than from shoplifting. If you are openly suspicious and contemptuous of your shoppers they won’t come back. They’ll shop somewhere else, or on line.
You should be more concerned about the Shrinkage of your loyal customer base because of your treatment of them. I won’t be going back to Steinmart very soon.

Can’t get anyone to answer at their corporate offices which means they don’t care. Went to a store in Scottsdale Az 45 min. from my house I came home with a skirt put it on for Fathers day only to find they left the security buzzer thing on. So later yesterday I went to the store that was closest to me 25 min and asked them to remove it, they told me they cannot remove it because the Scottsdale store is the only one with that kind of security tag. It would cost me more in gas to go back their. Can’t believe it because when i went to the Queen creek store they told me to go to Khols or Ross and maybe they could remove it.. So I opted to give back what I bought and went to Ross and they were kind enough to remove it and I purchased over 500.00 of product. I will never return to Stein Mart!! I had fiasco after fiasco trying to aquire a sweater and get it sent to me. Sue Ann had the patience, kindness and tenacity to get the sweater shipped to me. She contacted me personally to let me know that the item had shipped. It made such an impression on me that I contacted her when I received it to let her know it had arrived. Sue Ann is definitely the kind of employee that every company wants to have and retain because customer service is a priority with her. Someone has to make a significant impact on me either negatively or positively to warrant a written commendation. Sue Ann absolutely fit that bill.

12-16-13 I purchased 192.73 at the Tempe Az store. One item was a perfume gift set for my mom for 26.16. Before purchasing I asked what the return policy was and was told 60 days with receipt. The following day at 924 am I needed to return it. The fragrance was not appreciated. In my attempt to return an older manager was called she had no name tag. This was 12-17 trans 4652 reg 004 store 00347. She asked me why it was opened said they couldn’t use it anymore and slapped a sticker on it in front of me. I explained what I was told the previous day to no avail. Although my card was refunded I was embarrassed I’m sure the young clerk was as well. This manager was clearly trying to shame me and make me feel guilty for my return. As I left the reg she wished me a phony Merry xmas. I left and went next door to Sephora and purchased 80.00 in perfume and received excellent cust service. The first sign of a poor manager is one who cannot handle a return gracefully. I am a manager at sees candies and have 25 years retail experience. When a customer returns any box of chocolate any size at any dollar amt it has to be thrown in trash. This detail is NEVER mentioned to a customer ever. Christmas is 80% of our yearly sales. We want our customers to tell their friends and families and we want them to RETURN. Unprofessional is the absolute NICEST thing I could say about this manager. I hope for your business sakes you address this situation. I on the other hand can find other places to shop. Thank you. Just paid my balance off and will not purchase anything again from the Macon Ga store due to rude sales associate. I lost my receipt and never could get my account credited. Only received store credit! Will go to another store and get my money’s worth! Bad store practice when losing receipt!

I am a regular customer at the Stein Mart in Allentown PA. I am a preferred customer and Stein Mart is my favorite store due to the uniqueness and pricing of the clothing. I have come up with an issue. I received an email from Stein Mart in which I immediately located a dress I wanted. A Boutique dress by Spense (stripe side ruched sweater dress for $49.00 #50665660. On line the dress was not available in my size.. In my closest store it was not available in my size. I was told several other stores had it in my size however- so I had the choice either to spend the gas money traveling up to 2 hours or I could pay $8.00 to have it shipped. Now I can go to many other local clothing stores and they would have it delivered to you or at minimum the store at no cost. I also located a Boutique coupon for 20% off only good today 11/9. So if I lived 2 hours from here where another store is I could go into the store buy the dress and use my 20% off coupon. As it stands if I have the dress delivered to my Stein Mart or delivered directly fro the store that has my size (for $8.00) it negates the coupon. If I travel to the other store the cost of gas will negate the coupon.
As a preferred customer why can’t I have the dress delivered without the fee and still use my coupon. Obtaining the dress at the price others would is only fair – I should be able to get the $49.00 dress, 20% off without an added $8.00 shipping charge.
That is fair pricing, equal accessibility and treating your frequent buyers like they should be treated.

I work with a wonderful lady at Stein Mart in Plano, Texas who I want to recommend for a commendation. I believe it is store #91. Her name is Laique Aleem. I first met her a few years ago as she was assigned to alter some clothing for me and over the years I have noticed that she has been busy helping all slaes associates in any and every way possible to help the store in every way possible even though that is not her job. Laique is always busy helping customers and associates soing her very best to go beyond to make everyone feel they are more than important the minute they walk into the store. She is humble and helpful. You have a more than valueable employee and I just thought you needed to know that there are some employees that rise above the rest.
