Savers Inc. was founded in San Francisco in 1954 by William Ellison. Savers Inc. is a for-profit chain of second-hand stores or thrift stores that purchase, resell, and recycle items that would otherwise be thrown out. The company purchases items from nonprofit stores and resells or recycles items that cannot be sold. Some locations try to upcycle unsold items by remodeling them for a different purpose, then selling the item.

The company now has 330 locations and approximately 22,000 full-time employees. In the US, stores are listed as Savers, Value Village, or Savers Inc. In Canada, they are listed as Value Village or Village des Valeurs in Quebec. In Australia, stores are listed as Savers.

In 2015, the Minnesota Attorney General filed suit against Savers Inc. stating that they were misleading the public and that only a very small percentage of the money was actually going to charitable organizations. The matter has yet to be resolved.

In December 2021, Savers considered going public on the stock exchange to help pay down debt.

My name is Maria Osuna and I hope my email gets to the CEO of savers . I wish you can please read my email as I was a worker at savers since Sept 2920 and got fired Sept 23 2022 because an employee assulted me at work. I worked at a shoe sorter and I usually roll my shoes out. But was told by manager to have an employee who was helping roll out stuff from the wares department also help me roll my shoes out . So I can go help sort clothes on the other side. I approach him and ask him to please roll my shoes out . When the pricier their Leslie starts cursing me out. And saying how no way that was my job. And starts just yelling at me and cursing me out. Leslie is bipolar she is very loud and usually goes off on employees. Well I go over to her close not to provoke her but to try to explain to her what the supervisor told me. I am trying to talk above her because she is not listening to me and is going off cursing. Anyway Leslie looses control and now I start walking backwards because she is coming at me. She assaults me by pushing me hard. I put my arms up to cover my face cuz she is gonna hit my face. A manger comers moves me out of the way. I am terrified and in shock. They move us to the side and Leslie hands are towards me and my manager is holding me, I try to push her hands away from me. And they take Leslie and I go to the break room. I am an employee with no write ups worked even while being sick. Always helping others with their work at work. It is unfair that I lost my job. When Leslie had write ups and would bully the slow kids at work. She would treat other employees bad as well. I got along with the co workers and was always on time. My name is Maria osuna and wish you can help me and re consider my job at savers. As I loved working for savers. I hope you can look and talk to the employees as the HR department didn’t. They took 3 weeks and fired both of us. Without talking to employees I feel this was very unfair. Please help me. My email is masunacca1@ yahoo.com my name Maria osuna

I bought a beautiful piece from the savers in rochester NY and I paid $4.99 but when I got home and looked under the price tag low and behold the price was $5 , I was in utter shock. REALLY… 1 cent difference. What a bargain. This is a thrift store that is robbing the less fortunate. This is ridiculous and this company needs to really consider their prices. People donate this stuff and u charge an arm and a leg for used items. Shame shame shame.

just a serious criticism, I wan’t to know if your location in Washington St, University Place, discriminates against people that apply to work there? Those that are older? Christian? Conservative? Disabled? Especially does your company discriminate against folk that are not “TRANS? I think you do? I have all the experience, personality etc etc to work at your company, but wasn’t hired? I believe based on my age? sex? disability? and because i am not transexual? I am sick of all the liberal B.S that is destroying our country and company’s? I am not bitter because i was not called back after my second interview? but considering i have far more than enough experience? Had pleasent interviews? I think your company actually discriminates! S.Alvis……….. Fix this!

I am not happy with the business you all provide so I did a survey and told the truth, then I get this email from your company “FoodSaver® Brand Today at 2:30 PM
    To
    ednava58@ yahoo.com

    Ednava58,

Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!

So I guess you only want good comments, well no I did not save what I wrote because being a company you should take the negative just like you do the positive about your product but that is okay I have the Corporate address and I am filing a Better Business Complaint, i already have complained to Food Saver’s Super visors and I stated I did not want the product, now I see you are sending me two, I told the woman online to cancel and refund my money, well she placed another order, We talked and she stated she can not do a refund so I called, tried to explain to that person and they turned around and ordered me another one. I asked for a Supervisor probably five times and I couldn’t get anyone to transfer when I mentioned the Better Business and filing a lawsuit, wow I got transferred to a Supervisor who was very nice her name was Linda,

So I posted a complaint and I got an email today saying they were not going to post it :Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! What do they only want good comments and not the truth, wow, I am amazed.

So I am filing a BBB complaint and a TopActionSuit and no it has nothing to do about money, it is because of your product. It seems to me because I have searched and you have many bad reviews but not on your website,

So just let know I was so excited and happy because of the reviews that were posted but I see today with the email I got, you only post the good ones, post them all.

You made my day with your email that you were not going to post it. Thank you!!

I live in NLR, AR and have shopped at your store since you have had one in Pulaski county. I was delighted when you opened one in NLR. I have donated many items on a regular basis and i have shopped at your store almost every week. I have found items there that i couldn’t find anywhere else. I am broken hearted that you would close that store. Actually I’m shocked you would do that. I think you are making a big mistake. I understand that you are keeping the store in Ft, Smith. You probably don’t understand how far away that is from central Arkansas. It is a 3 hour drive. Please rethink your decision. Not to mention the really great staff you have in our store. Letting them go just before Christmas really sucks.

I am Saver’s #1 fan! I have been shopping at Saver’s on JFK Blvd., in North Little Rock, Arkansas since the day it opened. I am a frequent shopper there. I am usually there at least once per week. I will say in the last ten years or so that they have been there I have spent hundreds of dollars but I have also saved thousands of dollars. Since I am an expert shopper because I learned from the best (my Mom) I can spend just a few dollars and look like a million. Normally I only buy garments made from cotton, linen or silk. Since they are natural fabrics and they breathe. Then I look for any designer label and items with “bling.” The same goes with the boots & shoes I have purchased there as well. I try only to get genuine leather and designer or name brand shoes. I will say that 90% of my clothes has come from Saver’s. And a lot of the items in my home are also from Saver’s. So, I LOVE SAVERS!!! The employees at the JFK store are always so nice, friendly and eager to help. I am just heart broken that the store is closing! They are making a HUGE mistake by closing these stores! Now, I don’t know what I will do when I need to purchase more clothes, boots, shoes or household items.

Other accusations have been made by meagan offering advancement and raises only to be the outcome of bribed lies.. I would personally like to have a phone conference with KEN..MIKE and CARL. the head CEO’s of savers..my number is 605370**** to further discuss this situation… if not I can get your full attention on nation wide media…..Meagen should not be in management in my opinion she has no respect towards others..and she is about to destroy what was once a good store to shop in

Dear Sir, I would like to say I love your store and shop it often but I do have a big problem with it and I know many other people do also……Dressing rooms, the doors are nice how they close but there is no where to sit and as an older large person it is hard for me to try on pants of any kind and so I can’t buy them, I buy tops only…..I need some where to sit while trying them on….My daughter who is 37 says she leans up against the wall to help her get into them but as for me I would fall, please think about building a bench in these dressing rooms so us older women can try pants on also…….Thanks…….
