Reynolds American Inc. was formed in 2004 and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange the same year.
In 2004 the U.S. business of British American Tobacco (Brown & Williamson) was combined with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company under the R.J. Reynolds name.
At the time, the two companies were the second and third largest U.S. tobacco companies.
When combined, R.J. Reynolds became a subsidiary of Reynolds American, along with Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, the manufacturer of American Spirit.
In 2006 the company expanded the smokeless tobacco with the acquisition of Cornwood, the second-largest smokeless tobacco company in the United States.
Today Reynolds American Inc. is a holding company that has the second-largest manufacturer of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco in the United States. The company’s top selling brands include Camel, Doral, Kool, Pall Mall, Salem, and Winston.
The company trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RAI, is a member of the S&P 500, is #272 in the Fortune 500, has 5,00 employees, and had $8.236 billion in revenue in 2013.
In December 2021, Reynolds American has decided to sell its group annuity pension contract to a third-party vendor, which has startled some local retirees.
Reynolds American maintains a corporate office in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

I participated in your Lucky Strike Icon Showdown and on OCT 17th won a Fender Tube Amp, received an email stating congratulations you won. I have never received the prize. Have contacted customer service numerous times only to be told you should get it soon and we are sending this to upper management to have them look into it and sending it to corporate. Last 2 calls was told we don’t send the prizes and to contact the prize vendors myself. The 2, I was given Prize Logic well there phones don’t work or are out of service and don’t reply to emails. Yhe second Hello@ quietly doesn’t have a number and emails get sent back indeliverable. I don’t think I should have to do the leg work to get my prize. I was in the Army 27 years and when we made a commitment we followed through with it. So OCT 17th email saying congratulations prize will be there in 6 to 8 weeks. No one has ever gotten back to me about this pretty sad customer service.

I at one time received coupons and prize offers all the time. Every time I get something inside a cigarette it tells me to go to the website and log in. Every time I do this it doesn’t have my information and I have to call the customer service number. EVERY TIME! It’s annoying and quite frustrating. What’s the point of having the log in page if you don’t keep the information?

Not only are Newports the most expensive cigarettes in my area, you’re customer service and web site should be reflective of your high prices. Certainly doesn’t want to remain with RJ Reynolds.

Recently I honored your recall on 2 of the Vuse Vibe batteries which I never had any problems with but, was NOT honored in return! I was sent a check ($20) for 1 battery instead of 2! I contacted the recall line whom was pretty rude to me and told me they could not let me talk to someone that could make a decision on the information I provided because they don’t have anything to do with decisions. I have been a loyal customer of yours for many, many (I am 61 years old now) years and started using the Vibe, Ciro and the Solo since they were introduced to the market instead of regular cigs. It’s only right that I been forwarded the same respect as I have shown you by sending these batteries to you that I paid for with my hard earned money! Before sending them I gave them both the numbers on the batteries and both of these batteries were operational when I sent them!
If you would, please look into this discrepancy for me and honor your side of the recall by sending me the full amount instead of half.
Respectfully, Michael D. Doll

This is my last transmission with your Vuse Vibe employee and I DID call but, all I was told that they forwarded this complaint to you. That does NOT help me in my quest to be compensated fully for my compliance to the recall!!!

As a user of your vuse vibe line since you brought the product out.
I’m extremely disappointed in your new appeasement program when I have an issue with the batteries. Going from getting a kit for $1 you now only give customers two-for-one coupons. That’s after the customer bend over backwards shipping a defective product back to you and waiting 5 weeks for your company decide where they’re going to do anything or not. When they do you still have 2 to 4 weeks to wait for your appeasement coupons.
Your new program leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
Your staff bent over backwards today trying to make me happy. Still very disappointed that I will be out about $100 after everything is said and done.
