Restaurant Depot was founded in Queens, New York, in 1990 by Jerry Cohen. While working at a single cash and carry store that many local restaurants used, an idea began to form Cohen’s mind.

Restaurant Depot was born.
Cohen’s idea was an immediate hit. Within 4 years, business was booming so much that Cohen decided to open a second location.
Today, Restaurant Depot operates 134 locations across the US. Each store provides a membership and offers items that are common in local restaurants, such as crab for New Englanders and salad ingredients for the west coast.
The company rarely advertises and passes the savings onto its members, with most restaurants stating that they pay 30 percent less than they would at other warehouse locations.
In August 2022, Restaurant Depot announced its 135th location that will open soon in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
