Restaurant.Com was founded in 1999 by Cary Chessick. The company partners with restaurants to offer significant savings on gift cards to increase business and clientele. (Note that this is not the same internet search company Restaurants.com)
The company states that it has partnered with 21,000 private and chain restaurants across the USA to offer “significant savings” on gift certificates. A typical discount would offer a $25 gift certificate for $10.
The company says that none of the money goes to the actual restaurant, but they instead offer free marketing and offer restaurants a chance to gain new customers.
Some restaurants have complained that they did not agree to these terms and gift cards are sold without their consent. The company states that some restaurants might not fully understand the terms of the deal or that they are failing to explain to their employees how to properly credit the gift cards.
The Better Business Bureau has issued a warning to customers that there appears to be a pattern with gift cards not being accepted at all businesses.
Restaurant.Com states that they have successfully sold more than 8 million gift cards in the past 3 years. The company has headquarters in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

I frequently patronize your store #283 about twice a week. I like the food and the WIFY.
However there is a serious problem at that location. There is an individual by the name of Barry who is disrupting the harmony of the store. He is a mental case and is very violent and boistruss in and outside the store. He begs for money from those of coming into the store and is a very scary person. He makes a mess outside the store. I have seen him yelling out loud at something or someone on his I phone. I was told that as long as he buys something there is nothing that can be done. He either sleeps in a tent nearby or a homeless shelter. Along with this mental behavior he also has taretts syndrome and cannot control his physical actions. He is a menace to himself as well as the patrons.
I like you store and want to see it succeed. This guy will piss off and drive away customers and that reputation will not help business. Even the hired help is scared of him and I don’t blame them at all. I don’t want to see an incident there because of him. This a dangerous situation, please look into it.
Thank you,
GEP
