PriceRite was founded in 1954 as a small, neighborhood food market. The company was purchased by the Wakefern Food Corporation in the early 1990’s.
The company operates a chain of limited assortment supermarkets, similar to Aldi’s, in 10 states. Currently, there are 64 locations that are still owned by Wakefern, with many of the new stores being located in New Jersey. In 2008, the company opened its first PriceRite Marketplace in Providence, Rhode Island. The 55,000 square foot store offers far more services than the regular PriceRite Supermarkets, including an organic line of produce, a fresh-roasted peanut stand, as well as a deli and seafood department.
In June 2020, the company donated $131,000 to food banks that are overwhelmed due to the coronavirus crisis.
PriceRite Supermarkets, along with PriceRite Marketplaces operate as subsidiary’s of Wakefern Food, with headquarters in Keasbey, New Jersey.

I work at store 349 in Bridgeport, CT. My mom worked here before I ever got the job here and I got this job because with her relocating to Florida a position became available which I filled… within three weeks of working I was given employee of the month… I am ashamed to say that I have witnessed discrimination and nepotism that my mom constantly spoke of and came home distraught from… My mom who is physically limited due to injury was constantly attacked by manager Willie Byrd as well as the assistant manager Kikie Reyes being at the receiving end of Mr. Byrds attacks. Willie Byrd has attacked both of them which their protection should fall under corporate policy through the protected groups.. I have witnessed nepotism and have even experienced it myself firsthand… I am totally uncomfortable with this company, Joey (HR rep) indicates that it comes with the territory and that it should be expected, basically disregarding and rationalizing said bullying… also multiple employees and even managers from multiple departments have informed me of Danny(corporate), Tom(old 349 manager)and Willie(current 349 produce manager) have attack an employee based on their gender identity which honestly is outrageous… this store is full of hostility and honestly I get sick to my stomach coming here and less about what has been done to me but more so for what I have witnessed… Lainer Guzman the store manager was informed multiple times of these issues as well as Joey the HR rep and I believe Nino Vasquez the district manager knows of this nepotism and discrimination and it is evident nothing has been resolved…

It’s the same at the Providence store 371. There is a woman who works in the deli and is constantly bullying and using derogatory language against the other employees and myself. Store manager bill has been informed of her behavior and also on multiple occasions Stephanie from hr has also been informed about her behavior and how it is making everyone uncomfortable. I’ve been at that store for 2 years now and it has been since the day I started working there that this has been going on and before me. No one wants to do anything about it. It makes it very uncomfortable and hostile. I definitely understand the feeling of getting sick just walking into that place. Honestly I really like working there but the management and hr need to address the problems and fo there jobs.

I am writing to let you know how upset I am and so many of your customers at the Queensberry New York store are .
I was shopping there this past Saturday, December 3 when I was told that the store would be closing this saddens me beyond belief because you are the only store in our area that has decent prices with decent produce, and decent food where people on a fixed income can shop and afford good food . I understand your lease in that plaza is up and that was one of the mitigating factors not to mention the fact that all the set up shop adjacent to your parking lot.
I want to say that there are many many storefronts available in the Glens Falls , Hudson Falls area that could accommodate your store very well. I will be calling the office of the CEO and the CEO oh and the CFO and hope that I get a response.
Thank You, Dawn

It’s me again. This has been on my mind – for almost 2 months. I have not written about it because I never get anywhere anyway. I used to shop at Price Rite in Warwick, RI (Route 2, Bald Hill Road) faithfully for 15 years or so. I stopped going when it came to the point that one, and if you’re lucky, TWO registers will be open, and of course, one day NONE of them was open except self-checkout! Anyway – I had a day off about – actually it was in September (my last vacation time) – so I decided to brave going in to Price Rite (very close to my house) and pick up a few things. Once AGAIN – there was a line for the “corral” and ONE REGISTER OPEN! JUST ONE! So I always give it a little time, hoping someone is going to come along and open another register, and YES, that happened. OK, she goes, “NEXT CUSTOMER IN LINE!” Because she was close to the “corral (self-checkout area)” – there was a man waiting there and another man was waiting in the single open checkout – so both men RUSHED to get in line – and it was not a pretty sight. I was so uncomfortable – each man (and they were over 50, maybe even over 60) – started hollering at each other, and LOUDLY, about who should go first. If I only had a phone that took video – I wanted to crawl into a hole. It was so obnoxious and uncomfortable, and I observed others waiting, like myself, and switching from one foot to another, one foot to another – the air was charged from this run-in. IS THIS HOW YOU WANNA DO BUSINESS? Is it WORTH it just so Price Rite isn’t paying people to work the registers, and they can make more $ like that? Anyway – I find it insulting, degrading, and torturous – that you are not making shoppers feel they are worth SOMETHING to Price Rite – because Price Rite is all about Price Rite – not their customers. So – like I said in the beginning – that was in September and I have not been back. Each time I go in there, it takes me MONTHS before I give it another try – and those months are getting longer in between. Can’t wait for Market Basket to open down the street! And what is your excuse? Trader Joe’s right across the way has EVERY register open – and so does Dave’s Marketplace. I only stop into Price Rite now and then because it is very close to my house – so – this has bothered me since September – I had to get this out. GOODBYE, once AGAIN!

Next time they do that you should go past the registers and out to your car with their groceries

I buy food from Price Rite market in Secane, PA regularly and the MEAT is RANK from the inner packaging where the blood absorbs. It does not matter what kind of fresh meat you buy when you open the pack it stinks even after being frozen you smell it. If you take it back nothing will happen they will continue to sell that freezer full of rank MEAT.

Hi. YOu have heard from me before regarding the Price Rite store on Bald Hill Road in Warwick, RI. It is sad enough that I do not frequent it weekly as I did for a very long time. Every now & then I “take a chance.” OK, and again, bad enough they have long, winding lines because one checkout register is all they seem able to handle (I am not talking about self-checkout – I am talking employees doing the checking out for the customers, as it should be). OK – so I went in Fri. after work – one checkout open. Eventually, another employee did come along and say, “NEXT!” – which of course, someone ran over there so I was still screwed. This morning took the cake. I have never seen this before, but HERE is is. I went to buy peanuts for the blue jays – four big bags – it was about 8:20 AM. A line of people waiting (mind you, WAITING) to use the self-checkout – and NONE of the registers were open. I asked the girl who stands and helps the self-checkout people – I asked – or said “None of these registers is open?” Her apologetic response: “No, not at this time.” I walked out without my peanuts. WHAT IS THIS, A TORTURE CHAMBER OF SOME KIND? I was appalled, and felt so bad for the VERY elderly people (like over 70) – waiting to use self-check out and NOT to mention – those same aged people – bending, and trying to check themselves out – bend, bend, – trying to read the screen. THIS IS HORRIBLE! I have absolutely had it with Price Rite now. GOOD NEWS! A new supermarket is being built as I write this – about 3 blocks from Price Rite – and it is i- I believe – called Market Basket? I can’t wait. The managers at Bald Hill Price Rite – just don’t give a crap about respecting their customers. This is terrible. Just terrible. And then I look like the bad guy – just putting the peanuts down and walking out – not my style – but as I said – I have had it now.

The last three times I have shopped at Pricerite, in Cranston, RI I have seen people wearing face masks on their chin, but not covering their nose or mouth. Wearing a mask on your chin does nothing except spread the Virus. I have suggested to staff that they speak to these people and was told that as long as they wear a mask, there is nothing they can do. May I suggest that you post explicit signage teling people specifically that they MUST cover their nose and mouth or they will NOT be allowed to shop in the store. I have decided that the couple of dollars I save at your store isn’t worth risking my health. I no longer feel safe shopping in your store and I will be going to one of your coempetetors – ALDI – which .has 100% compliance with people wearing face masks covering both their nose and mouth. I have even seen some employee wearing a mask with their nose exposed. I never see this at Aldi. It’s really too bad, because I’ve been shopping at the Cranston Shoprite for many years. Whatever I might be saving shopping at your store isn’t worth risking my health. I’m over 65 and I will be telling my friends and neighbors about this experience. Three strikes and your out. I gave you three chances. You’re out!

This is downright irresponsible. Everyone has to help by following the governor’s regulations regarding Covid-19 precautions. For staff and management to take this lightly is willful and malicious. They have no problem putting people, seniors in particular, in harm’s way? Oh, and while we are at it, one of their stores has rodents. A customer was horrified when she saw a pack of hot dog buns with a hole chewed into it through the bag. The manager told her to get another bag! How about if we shop at supermarkets that are mouse-free? If your name isn’t Mickey or Minnie, you belong outside. You are right; even if you are starving, don’t shop there, or you’ll be sorry.

I work at one of your stores. I have been bothering my managers of the store between a few weeks to a few months. I understand if there is a mess up with w2s yet i kept asking for a fixed one and having them send email after email to try and get it fixed but the SAME exact one has been sent to me. I have not been able to file my taxes because of this mess up and a few others i am working with have the sane issues. I need this resolved and i feel like I’m not getting anywhere.

After I was (wrongfully?) terminated by this company, I was not able to access my pay stubs. The person at the help desk said that because I am no longer an employee of the company, the pay stubs didn’t belong to me. Is that true? What if I need proof of income for some reason? Do we have any rights at all as employees? I should discuss this with the Department of Labor.

I WORK FOR PRICE RITE, STORE # 405, SCRANTON PA. I WANT TO KNOW WHY AT THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION NO ONE HAS TO FOLLOW COMPANY POLICY RULES?? THE ONLY MANAGER YOU HAVE IN THIS LOCATION KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING IS (ERIC), IF HE WERE NOT THERE, (CINDY, THE STORE MANAGER WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY LOST. THE SALES ADD FROM JUNE 29TH THRU JULY 26TH, WE HAVE NOT HAD FOR 2 WEEKS WHEN CUSTOMERS WALK IN THE FRONT DOOR AND NOW PEOPLE CANNOT USE THE COUPONS THAT WERE IN THIS ADD. WE WERE TOLD BY CINDY IF THEY HAVE NO COUPON THEY CANNOT RECEIVE THE DISCOUNT. ANOTHER DEAL IN THIS PARTICULAR ADD STATES IF YOU BUY A LB. OF SUGARDALE BACON, YOU GET A DOZEN EGGS FREE. NO MORE EGGS FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS SO THEY CANNOT GET THAT DISCOUNT EITHER. THIS EVENING A WOMAN CAME IN AND BOUGHT A PACKAGE OF 2 1/2 DOZEN EGGS AND 3 PACKAGES OF CALAVITA PASTA FOR .66 EACH AND HAD TOP OF THE SALE PAPER ON HER PHONE WHICH INDICATED THE DATES ON THE TOP OF THE FLYER. I LOOKED AT THE FLYER ON LINE, THAT DEAL LASTED FROM JUNE 29TH 2018 THRU JUNE 12TH AND SHE RECEIVED IT FOR THAT PRICE BECAUSE THIS STORE DOES NOT HAVE ANY FLYERS AROUND. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS STORE. I’VE HAVE BEEN IN THE BETHLEHEM STORE AND SOUTH FOURTH STREET LOCATION, CERTAINLY IS NOT RUN LIKE 405, I THANK GOD FOR THAT. IN 405, PEOPLE CAN STEAL, FILL UP THEIR BACK PACKS WITH FOOD, GO THRU PRODUCE AND EAT WHATEVER THEY WANT AND PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO TELL THE TRUTH ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SAY A WORD. I TOLD JOHN, YOUR DM IN A MEETING ONE TIME AND I WAS VERBALLY CUT OFF. IF WAKEFERN DOES NOT WANT THIS STORE TO MAKE MONEY AND IT IS A TAX RIGHT OFF. GOOD LUCK. I WAS CALLED IN THE OFFICE AT ONE POINT AND WAS TOLD THAT DID NOT SAY HELLO TO MINDY, YOUR HR DIRECTOR PROPERLY. WHO IN GOD’S DO YOU PEOPLE THINK ARE??
