Bristol-Myers was founded in 1887 by William McLaren Bristol and and John Ripley Meyers in Clinton, New York.

Squibb Corporation was founded by Edward Robinson Squibb in Brooklyn, New York in 1858.

DaVita Healthcare Partners, Inc. is one of the largest kidney care companies in the United States, offering services such as hemodialysis, in-center nocturnal dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, home dialysis, chronic kidney disease education, and renal diet assistance.

Today DaVita operates or provides administrative services through a network of 2,074 outpatient dialysis centers in the United States and 73 facilities in 10 countries.

DaVita is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DVA, is a member of the S&P 500, is #311 in the Fortune 500, has 69,00 employees, and has $11.62 billion in revenue in 2021.

The company offers free screenings in different parts of the country on certain dates.

Big Y Corporate Office

Brothers Paul and Gerry D’Amour bought the Y Cash Market in Chicopee, MA in 1936. Y Cash Market was at an intersection where two roads converged to form a Y.

In 1947 the D’Amour brothers opened a second Y Cash Market store. In 1952 the brothers opened a 10,000 square foot store in Chicopee, MA, near the Westover Air Base. Because the store was bigger and more modern than other supermarkets in the area, the brothers named the store “Big Y Supermarket.”

In 1960 the brothers expanded to Northampton, Massachusetts with a 30,000 square foot store, the biggest in Western Massachusetts at the time. By 1968 the company had six locations.

Big Y turned 50 in 1986; on this anniversary the chain had 21 locations and 1,600 employees.

Today Big Y has 60 locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut, many of which are located in the metropolitan areas of Springfield, Worcester, and Hartford. Big Y is one of the largest independently-owned supermarket chains in New England and employs 8,500 people.

Hy-Vee was founded by Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg in Bakersfield, Iowa in 1930. Their first store was a general store. By 1938 when the company was incorporated, Hyde & Vredenburg, Inc. had 15 stores in Iowa and Missouri.
