Pet Supplies Plus was founded in Redford, Michigan in 1988 by Harry Shallop and Jack Berry. They designed their stores to be more like grocery stores than your average cramped pet store. Pets were also welcome in the stores. The concept was an instant success.
By 1993, there were 30 stores and Harvey Solway joined the company as the third partner.
In the late 90s, the chain began to franchise and grew even more quickly.
In 2010, the company is acquired by private equity firm Irving Place Capital.
In September 2017, True Leaf Pet significantly expanded the distribution of its popular True Hemp supplement line both online and in bricks and mortar stores, including most Pet Supplies Plus locations.
Pets are allowed to walk through the aisles of the Pet Supplies Plus stores. All stores provide treats, chew toys, and other such products, which are located on low shelves making it easy for dogs to reach them. In addition to offering brand name pet foods, the company also makes their own brand of dog and cat foods under the “Redford” name.
Despite the coronavirus and quarantine, Pet Supplies Plus reported strong mid-year growth in June 2020, with more than 12 new franchises created.
Today, there are more than 490 Pet Supplies Plus stores in 31 US states. Almost all locations offer dog grooming, self-service doggie wash stations, and some locations offer low-cost spay and neuter clinics on certain days of each month. Headquarters are located in Livonia, Michigan.

We go to the Tuscaloosa Pet Supplies Plus store on a regular basis due to the friendliness of the staff. However, I have to write in to say something about how impressed I am with the store’s participation in two local dog events in town this month. I took our dog to both. The store manager handed out a very good free self-service bath and 10 percent off coupon at one event (at Midtown Shopping Center). I take my dog for nail appointments but do his baths, so I got the coupon to a friend with a dog and hopefully made a new customer for you. At the next event (Bark in the Park) he actually had samples of HEALTHY dog treats for different dog needs (we got the diet treats-haha!). He said he had paid for the treats out of their system (in other words not cheap out of date stuff)–I declined treats from at least five other booths because I didn’t know what was in them and I care about my dog’s health. This is all to say how impressed I am with the store and this manager. By the way, both events involved extra time on weekends for the manager and store staff–again–impressive. I am not sure of the manager’s name–(Man with black hair and open ear piercings) –Anyway, his actions keep us returning to this store even though there are three other pet supply chains in our town. Salute from Dr. Pamela Tran and Snoopy!

I was at a local store intending to buy a product which my one dog needed soon. While there I intended to buy several other products. Just before I was ready to check out with over $50 worth of merchandise, the electrical power went off. The “cashier”, who just happened to be the “store manager” said I could not purchase anything since there was no power to run the cash register.I was told they could “hold” my merchandise for when I decided to return to the store to purchase them (yeah, right!!). Why doesn’t this store have a generator so at least ONE register could be used during a power outage, such as the grocery store I had worked at. Some other stores in this strip mall had lights on, so it was apparent they had generators. There were several employees standing around talking when due to this outage, they could have been sent home. I told the cashier I would not be making the trip back to the store to purchase the items they were “holding” and would probably find out my items were not “held”. Told the cashier I will shop somewhere else from now on.

I attempted to contact the corporate office. I left a message because there seems to be no way to get to a live person. My message has gone unanswered. I then attempted to contact a manager at my local store and the only people “in charge” are high school workers. Truth is, Pet Supplies Plus does not care about consumers, and certainly does not care about the condition of the stores or the small animals in their care. As I talk with other pet owners and their concerns about the local store, I always tell them they will be happier and highly satisfied going to Chewy.com. I find it interesting that the assistant managers at Pet Supplies Plus proudly tell about their price matching with Chewy.com, problem is, it means nothing when Pet Supplies Plus does not have the items on their shelves. Empty shelves, dirty stores, untrained help, a recipe for success.

We love your store on Trinity Mills Rd. In Carrollton, Texas.
We like the people. The store is clean and the shelves are well stocked. I am amazed that you have all the complaints published on this site. We would recommend your stores to any one. We do have a complaint. It seems to be hard to get in touch with your corporate office.
We buy Purina Alpo Chop House, T-Bone Stake Flavor dog food from your store on Trinity Mills for several years. We bought our dog food from PetSmart for many years. We bought 16 cases of this food twice a month. (32 cases a month because we had 7 dogs.)
They decided to stop carrying that type of food. (They still carried Alpo, just not what we were ordering. ) We asked if they could order it for us. They said no. We started buying 32 cases of dog food from your store, also big bags of dry dog & cat food & cat food also. Now your store has decided to stop selling the Purina Alpo Chop House, T-Bone Stake Flavor. We only have 3 dogs now and have been buying 16 cases a month. They can not tell me if they can order it for us. I can’t want to wait to the last minute to go to some other place. You show that we can order it on line from you. We like to buy from and support local people as the money you pay your employees helps improve the economy in Carrollton.
You show on your web site that we can order it over the internet. If so why can’t your local store order the food for us? PetSmart decided they could care less about their customers. Is your company going to be the same way now or do we go some place else? I have called Purina and was told they are still making it. They have no idea why you and PetSmart are acting this way.

I just visited your 1336 Bristol Pike Bensalem, PA 19020 location, I can’t begin to say how disgusted I was. The poor dogs were clearly not taken care of with urine & poop in their for awhile. I saw 2 puppies that had been chewing the plastic on the side of glass while no one bothered to check on them. The guinea pigs had matted food that clearly hadn’t been tended to in days for all the urine that was in there. I went over to the fish & watched as a girl was catching the coy fish & holding them in a net out of the water not letting them breathe then went to the other tanks doing the same. I went up to THREE KIDS working the counter to tell them while it was all fun & games & they asked who I pointed them out & nothing was said or done. It’s sad that when this location first opened it was nice & they had serious workers who cared about the animals and now the kids that work there had zero interest in the job at all but clearly were laughing & having fun. I will NEVER go back there & maybe a post on FB will alert animal rights organizations to check it out for themselves. I am all for having fun at work but when LIVING animals are there an adult should be there to watch what goes on. So disappointed & sad !

Fish section is awful, and looks worse every time I go back. Overcrowded, dirty water, dead fish floating in every tank. Last time I went there the girl working literally tried to sell me dead, rotting assassin snails. I pointed out, when she started to grab them, that they didn’t look so good, and asked if they were even alive. She put them into the bag and anyway, assured me, “they’re in there,” and handed it over. So I looked again because I wanted to be 100% sure, even though I could already tell that they were dead, because I already have two assassin snails at home and I know how they look and behave. Only buy their plants if you want hitchhiker snails and seed shrimp. Their bettas are in bad shape. Go to a fish store instead, for any aquarium supplies. Generalized pet supply stores like this just can’t seem to handle it.

I would like to say that I’ve been in several times complaining to corperate and to my local pet supplies plus store about keeping the animal enclosures clean, once again I walk in to check on th animals and once again they are filthy, the water is dirty, no hay for the Guinea pigs, and I’ve also complained to the managers about several other animals that aren’t being properly taken care of, I come in at least twice a week to check on the animals and several times I’ve had to point out to the employees as well as the managers how they aren’t being taken care of properly! Several times I’ve done this, several times I’ve called corperate and several times I’ve talked to the managers, and no one really seems to care except for one manager I dont remember his name, but he actually listened to my concerns and did something about it, all of the rest of the managers in this particular store In Jackson, Michigan could care less, they give me the cold shoulder when i walk in this store to buy supplies for my pets, I refuse to shop where I’m going to be treated in this manner, because I care for the welfare of these animals and mind you spend hundreds of dollars in this particular store, I think something should be done with most of the managers that work there, they dont care for the health and well being of these poor animals! Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere, I will not shop in a store where because I care for the health and well being of the animals, and they treat me like I’m a second class citizen! All of the money that I’ve spent in your store, all of the donations I’ve made to local charities, and I get treated like this? I say not, I will be spending my hard earned money somewhere where I will get treated with respect. Thank you.

Hi Anne,
I just read your post, and I would just like to let you know your not alone. I have had issues with the store by me. I have called corporate and complained several times. I have even took pictures and submitted them to the corporate office via e-mail. I even got PETA involved. I just want to scream at every one of them when I go into the store. Things improved for a while then it started up again. Was just in there yesterday and the animals and store was discussing. I wanted to take out every one of them animals and bring them home until they got their $hit together. I am in the process of contacting the CEO, COO, SVP-COO , CFO, SVP-HR, District manager, store manager, and PETA. I have had it with them.

I see that I am not alone. I emailed them before and never got a response or acknowledgement. I saved a Betta from the store in Willowick, Ohio. He was in that cup for at least 3 months before I saved him. He was dying, so I bought him. I treated his fin rot, but his tail is black and dead. It looks like it is getting worse. The black, dead parts are falling off, but I see more rotting fins. I’m doing what I can for him. No one can fix that. It never should have gotten that far. These are living things, that feel pain. He is the happiest fish now, he makes the biggest bubble nests and he is happy to see me. You should be ashamed.

I just want to say that you really need to train your employees how to care for your animals exspecily the guinea pigs and what to look for when something is wrong with them I’m talking about the store on wisner street in Jackson Michigan my sister just texted me that she’s in the store and a guinea pig had crud in its eyes how can they not see it my sister and I have to tell them there’s something wrong with them every time we see something wrong why is that they need to be trained properly it makes me so mad and when you changed cages to those aqauium type cages those are awful they use dishes in stead of water bottles I’ve had to tell them they need water because they knock them over I just hope something gets done I will continue to check on them every week until something is done if that what it takes I just hope something gets done thank you

I was the only contestant that dressed my dog up and attended the scheduled Oct. 22, 11-3 pm, costume contest at my local Coconut Creek, Fla. store. Prior to dressing my dog and heading out to the store, I called to confirm the time for the contest. I was told the contest would be between 12:30- 1PM. Employee Gage took my dog’s picture and my personal contact information since we were the only ones in the store at that time for this event. I remained in the store till for almost an hour after the scheduled event, but noticed no other dogs competing during the scheduled time. As I left the store at approximately 2:30pm, manager Jake confirmed that someone would be calling the winner of this event. After waiting a day, I called and spoke to Mgr. Jake, who told me that “A Late Entry” was the winner of this event. Since I was somewhat skeptical about his answer, I questioned him about the costume worn by the winner. I was told that he could not tell me what the winner was wearing. I told him how disappointed I was considering I took the time and effort to dress my dog and attend this event that was advertised on line. As a consolation, he told me I would be receiving a $5.00 Off coupon for my next purchase….What he failed to tell me was that the coupon was the same $5.00 off a $30 purchase emailed to everyone on the email list. Up until now I thought this store had honest people caring about how customers felt about their store. After contacting the customer care line and receiving a message from Joe, I have not heard back from anyone at the corporate level. I am insulted by Jake’s actions and I would not recommend anyone shop at this location. I would like to hear back from anyone at the corporate level however. anneinfla@ hotmail.com

I was visiting your store on Jog Road in Lake Worth Florida last night to get my dog some food. Was in the market to possibly change to a higher quality food. I asked the young boy who was working there at the time if he could find someone to discuss the different top quality foods to me. The young man went to another employee explain what I was asking for and the young man came back to me saying that that gentleman was too busy filling the bulk birdseed to come talk to me. Meanwhile manager and countless employees were in the office not even caring about any customers in the store. What has happened to customer service? You obviously don’t really want customer base when you offer no customer service. I will not be returning to the store I will get my dog food somewhere else.

I went to South lyon store and I asked for something when I walked away the girls working there made fun of me very loudly. I felt bad I could hear them. Your store number 9076, Glenville NY. Eddie the mgr. and Tyler (district trainer) convinced me to take my two dogs in for grooming. My two boys hair was butchered! nails not clipped inside of ears not cleaned or trimmed. Eddie told me he held the dogs while the groomer did the nails. IMPOSSIBLE! spoke with Tyler, Tyler never got back to me nor have I heard from corporate? This store is so clean and well stocked with excellent product , yet the people especially Elan. Elan is very rude, on two occasions that I’ve been in the store Elan has been on her phone and too busy to speak. When I mentioned this to Eddie is disagreed saying she’s an excellent employee. Maybe they are to close to be employee and employer? I will return my business to Pet Smart its worth the extra drive.

I made a purchase on July 14, 1017 at store 9069. I don’t know is this store is a franchise or corporate store but it wears your name so you’re my last resort.
I was reviewing my receipts last night and came across my Pet Supplies Receipt. It states I purchases two ‘something’ of the Iams variety kitten food at 18.96 a ‘whatever’. I don’t know if I was for cans or bags but the problem is I NEVER PURCHASED ANYTHING FROM IAMS!
At the register I purchased two normal sized cans of cat food to donate to the local cat shelter but I DID NOT PURCHASE IAMS VARIETY. AND NOWAY WOULD A CAN OF CAT FOOD COST 18.96 A CAN!!!!!
I went back to the store but they won’t help me. I’ll take a refund or a gift card. I don’t care which. But I would like my $37.92 refunded.

Very greedy company. All of us employees were promised a raise after taking the latest talent tank test (you know, those tests you implemented that are impossible to fail so that you don’t have to give anyone a raise for working hard and the lazy people get paid just as much as those who care about their work and do a great job) it’s been a few weeks, and apparently there has been some technical difficulties that have kept you guys from giving us this latest little raise. I’m guessing that was to line someone’s pocket while they took a vacation since all you have to do is have HR send the change to payroll. I’m also guessing we are not getting back pay for the weeks that these technical difficulties were being experienced. Also, it is unfair to force employees of stores without grooming to do nail trims without offering a pay raise or commission. We will be taking time out of our already very busy day that we are expected to finish our tasks and get underpaid for. Some of us really love our job and should not be getting paid less than a burger flipper. You expect perfection out of us, but pay us slave wages. This needs to be addressed!
Anon says
Now, apparently h.r. fixed their “technical difficulty” but now that the problem is solved, there is a surprise step that we missed and were never told about. Apparently after taking time out of our work day to take this test for a supposed raise and then having to rush and get our actual work done before our shift was over and waiting all of this time for our raise that we have earned to not happen, we were informed that we had missed a surprise unmentioned step and retro pay was not available. Wtf! So now we have to take a stack of papers HOME and take away from our families (yes, your slaves have familys…weird, right) that we are struggling to support and do homework to send in. You guys suck. I, and a few of my coworkers (managers too that i have talked with) are becoming extremely depressed. Its very hard to look for another job when you feel worthless. My sales were up a lot this month. They’ve been steadly going up. Im lining your pockets, and cant even afford to support my own family unless I give up my basic needs. So, in order to make bills and feed my family, i live off of the scraps they leave on their plates. My shoes have holes in the bottom and are barely held together. Hope you guys like your comfy beds while your slaves struggle to keep a bed. I know its a small raise and will only be a tiny bit extra a month, but every little bit counts.

I went in on Monday to purchase feeder rats for my 2 balled pythons and right away I noticd the smell all through the way entire store. DEAD RATS. One that had been there a day or 2. Its a smell like no other. I raised mice for a few months until one got out. Lol
I didn’t think anything about it. Its a pet store …well I had to settle for frozen instead of live which I didn’t wanna do. My 2 prefer the thrill of the kill?? But when I got home and defrosted the 1st one. It looked horrible! Flat and the skin was dark looking. It just didn’t look healthy at all. I decided to at least try because I wasn’t gonna be able to get back that way for some time. Striker my male refused it totally! And he has never cared if it was frozen or fresh. He loves to eat. So I defrosted a smaller mouse for my girl. She can be picky. I made sure temp was good and warm even done the zombie rat dance. Nooo way. She stuck her nose up immediately. I offered this to the boy. Nope! All of these Rats and mice look bad! Flat and old kill. Idk. The skin isn’t supposed to be blueish brown. Rotten looking. After thinking and reambering the smell! It came to mind that maybe there was a freezer issue and they mealted and them someone froze again. Idk but its not good. I bought 4 Rats, 4 large mice, 8 med mice. Which totaled up to be a bunch of $$
4 large Rats $12.99 each
2 boxes of 2 large mice 10.99 each for box of 2
2 bx of med mice 4 each $10.99
All are ruined and flat nasty.
I use to buy my live feeders from this location every week and NOW they post a sign saying to better protect the employees they no longer sell live feeder rats/mice! I don’t understand it. If the ” employees ” Washed there hands after touching them like they are supposed to do after handling every animal it wouldn’t be an issue. And when I did purchase the live rats/ mice the prices were…
Large Rat $8.99
Med Rat $6.99
Small/med Mice $2.99
Notice the price gouge. I’m not understanding why they have chosen to do away with the feeder but still have the huge ( Fancy ) Rats lol. There the SAME thing just different colors no cleanser than the others. They are ALL RATS!!!! My babies like to hunt their lunch! And now I got rotten flat black belly rats. Gross. 🙁 😛

This is more about an interview for a job than anything else. I was called Saturday late 03/25/17
And was asked to come in at 10am the following morning and ask for Ronnie. I am a single mother of 3 kids and it isn’t always easy to find someone at the last minute to watch them. Now I understand that no one knows this appon first meeting a person unless told. But seeing as though I really wanted this job I agreed. I was there early and walked in as soon as the door opened. I walked in saw a man standing at the register. He had no name tag,so I didn’t know who he was. I said, “Hi, I am looking for Ronnie, I have an interview today”. He said, “What is your name”. I said, ” Jenna McKinsey” and shook his hand. He never said who he was, but instead asked me why I wanted to work there. I was totally caught off guard. But I gave him my answer. He asked me two more questions. Of which I responded. A customer walked in and he greeted them. Between the questions. My problem isn’t the questions themselves but where and how it was held. The whole thing lasted maybe 2 minutes. I recieved the call a little while ago stating I didn’t recieve the job. Which is fine, I understand that not everyone fits the criteria. However I don’t appreciate feeling like going to a job interview being a waste of my time, reguardless if I got it or not, little lone having to pay someone to watch my kids so I could make it to said interview. I was put on the spot in front of a register, out in view of other people. There was no explanation, no introduction of himself, no nothing. I would have understood if he said, ” I am Ronnie, I am very sorry for this but I have to give you the interview here because (insert reason here) or if its ok with you to reschedule. I find this very unprofessional and actually kind of happy I didn’t get the job. Because if this is how he holds an interview, I would hate to know how he treats his employees. I feel I didn’t get a chance to really show who I am as a professional. With that said, I no longer want to work for this company even if a second chance was given. I hope you can talk to this manager and hopefully he will conduct his future interviews better.

At another time I discovered the employees with the long blond hair was the manger !! I don’t feel this should have been shared with high school age children

I phoned there today and spoke with someone after being told the Manager was not there, I have been watching a situation with the Zebra Finches, several are in a small cage/glassed container and there are Society Finches, two, recently put in with them. The Society Finches are tearing up the Zebra Finches, 2-3 have very obvious wounds and feathers torn out on their backs. The two types of finches should not be stuffed into one cage together. The employee I spoke with seemed little more than amused by my call and told me the issue would have to go to Corporate before anything could be done about it as Corporate makes the decisions on which animals go in cages together in the first place. Staff should have noticed this problem before the public had to intervene and point to the situation. No sense in lacking proper animal care knowledge and causing innocent helpless creatures to suffer. Perhaps training should be provided to Staff and Corporate.

A great reason to take a picture and Twitter/FB it. It’ll be fixed in the court of public opinion.

I shop at this store a lot. The store in Akron. Ohio off of Manchester rd. Between my husband and I, we are there quite often. The bettas are in horrible conditions. Not only is it awful that they are kept in tiny cups when they are a species that require a heater and filter, but the condition of the cups were the worst I have EVER seen. The bottoms were covered in black and green slime, most of the bettas were very stressed and half dead, floating on their sides barely alive. The way they are being kept is highly inhumane and it is torture. They are able to be put into friendly community fish tanks, some of the nicer mom & pop pet stores around, only carry 10 or so bettas at a time, and they are in tanks with swordtails, mollies, and other peaceful fish. I spoke with 2 different employees, the first was a very nice girl who said its not her department and she would love to change their water but isn’t allowed. She also wasn’t knowledgeable of the fish and blames the condition on corporate not allowing gravel in the cup to “hide the nastiness” this isn’t a problem that should be simply hidden. It should be eliminated with not ordering so many bettas at a time, and properly caring for them by placing them in proper tanks or at the VERY least, changing their water every single day. I was upset that I couldn’t get an employee to change their water, so I loaded up the worst looking ones and changed their water myself. I then proceeded to buy all of the females in stock, and told the next employee about the bettas conditions. He said ” yeah We know, its pretty nasty” are you kidding me! Why are there people working in a pet store that obviously don’t care about the pets in their care? If they know it’s bad, why isn’t someone changing the water? The fish are sitting in so much ammonia that the water actually was yellow! I took pictures of the conditions if this gets to anyone high enough who cares. You can email me and I’ll send them to you. Robin6gun at gmail.com I really hope this is fixed net time I come in. Otherwise, I would be more than happy to be your fish person.

Hey! Bettas ARE NOT friendly fish which is why they have to be kept in separate container’s. They do not require a filtration or heater system. But they do require reg water changes and proper vitamins and minerals added. I change my babies 2 times a week. And I’ve had 4 or my 9 for about 3 years. But it takes knowing about the spieces and how to properly care for them. The conditions explained above is ridiculously crazy. And i my self have seen these same conditions in our local PSP. Along with some other issues with the fish section. Bites my As% to see someone working in a pet store and know absolutely nothing about caring or taking care of animals. I’m sure there are ppl out there needing jobs that has the know how or even the wants to of caring for these babies ( animas). Hell training might help. If the person can’t come in on there first day and get right to cleaning Garret poo or scraping too off the side of a Oscar tank .., they need to go on to Walmart and bag some groceries because i know for a fact they need help with only one line open on the busiest day of the month! Lol sorry I got carried away.

Actually….. You’re wrong. They are territorial with each other…. Not with other friendly fish. They do need filtration, like any other fish… And they’re tropical fish and need it warmer, so a heater is ideal. Unless you keep your house in the 78-80° range… But you are right, it does help to be knowledgeable about the species and how to care for them. I hope you upgrade your babies to a proper tank with filtration and a heater soon.

I have a complaint about the store located on 3644 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY 11572. The manger Kelly I found to be very rude and sarcastic twords my friends and I. This isn’t the first time I felt as if she was being rude. It may just be her personality. Also, my friends and I were walking twords the front of the store and overheard her “talking” to one of the employees if you even want to consider the way she speaks talking. She was so sarcastic and rude to this poor employ. I understand it’s one thing to explain something to someone when they make a mistake, but she doesn’t know how to do that. I have never encountered such a immature and sacrcastic manger in a pet store before. I don’t think her personality is fit for this specific job. I honestly believe that if someone doesn’t know how to treat there employees with respect then they don’t know what they are doing. She does a good job covering up her nasty personality with customers, but with me not so much. I will not be shopping at your store again. Which Is a shame because I believe that this store is a very well established minus the manger Kelly. The employees make me feel very welcomed and complement the place nicely. I would like to return to this store considering that it is most convent to whear I live. (This also includes my friends. Who also felt she was being extreamly rude) I hope that you can fix this issue.

I too have also had issues with this manger. But I believe that the manger Leanne is more of an issue than Kelly is. Although Kelly can be very rude she does seem to know what she is doing. Leanne is also very rude. I have two cats and was running low on food. The people that were stocking the shelves didn’t have any more of the cat food I wanted in stock. So I asked to speak to the manger who was Leanne to Ask her when they would be getting the food I needed in stock. She continued to cut me off with a serious of yes, yup, yea until I got fed up and left. She seemed very irritated and angry when I was just asking for help. I have also seen her do this to other customers and I believe it’s a horrible way to treat your loyal paying customers. If this is how she treats her customers I can’t imagine how she treats her co-workers. I have also seen her running about the store ordering the workers to do different multiple jobs. I understand that workers must work that is why they are there, but what bothers me is that she isn’t doing anything but bossing every one around and then being extermly nasty to customers. There are a lot of management issues at this place. There have been many new workers that have been around for a month or maybe a few weeks, they were extremely helpful and no longer work there I can only imagine that they left due to the poor management of the place and how nasty the mangers are. I too also believe the workers compliment the place remarkably, but the management is horrible and really puts the place down. I’m glad I came upon this website I wasn’t planing to write anything but since I saw I’m not the only one who has had issues with the management I had no problem typing my feelings too. A new pet smart has opened in the area, I will be shopping there from now on.

What a joke I went into this store 240 in painesville Ohio to by my dog her food and treats and was very saddened to know my purchase of 82.50 turned into 165.00 purchase I was double charged. When I contacted the location on four different occasions, I was told its my bank but I contacted my bank and they stated it would be deposited as soon as received and once again no results. I contacted someone in there corporate office and she gave me a ticket number through several emails once again nothing this all started July 11 it is now going on two months of them not repaying me, the money they wrongly took out of my bank account without my permission. So I would like to say I will never take another step in this store that I faithfully shopped in due to no results after two months and Iam now going to seek further advice.

I have a complaint about your female manager Jacklin at your st. Clairsville Ohio store. She does not treat your employees very nice, she treats them horrible from my observations. There was a young man who worked there and he was always so helpful and so kind to me when I’m in there and he is no longer there. She treated him horrible and when I was in the store the other day I heard her downgrading this young man to other employees and it’s not right! This young man was an asset to your store! He was always cleaning and stocking when I would come in. His name was Danny and he was a wonderful employee and it’s because she is so mean to the good employees that he isn’t there! I will no longer shop at your store as long as she is there and I will make sure all my friends who shop there will not shop there again!

This place is complete sh*t and doesn’t take care of their reptiles properly. My boyfriend and I went and saw this poor baby leopard gecko in a tank with stick tail, trouble shedding and dehydrated.Keep in mind this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen. They’ve also housed an adult with the juveniles so they obviously weren’t getting the food they needed. We bought him to try to save him. Note, if a animal is sick they are NOT suppose to allow a sale if that animal. Well shortly after around like 3 weeks he had passed away. It was to the point where we had to force feed him repta boost and within minutes throw it up. You can tell he was getting MBD cause he was doing an army crawl when we first got him and could only hold his head up for so long before dragging it. POWDER YOUR CRICKETS WITH CALCIUM!!!! This is honestly the worst store i’ve seen when it comes to keeping their pets healthy. Yes, we have contacted them and all they said was thanks for your feed back we will talk to our crew…. Safe to say I go in there to go get crickets for my one and I see anymore like that hell is going to break loose.

I stopped in at your Lakewood, Ohio store for cat supplies yesterday evening and stopped to admire the three kittens in the enclosure. Because one looked very much like a cat that I have, I wanted to handle the kitten as I was considering adoption. When I opened the enclosure, I was disgusted. The enclosure wreaked of urine. When I looked at the litter box, there was barely enough litter for one cat, let alone three kitties. And I’d venture an educated guess that the box hadn’t been cleaned for two or more days. No food in the bowl and dirty water to boot. Had I decided to adopt the kitten, I would have had to give her a bath as soon as I got her home because I’m sure she smelled as well. I asked for the manager and was told the manager was “at lunch”. I have since found out that your SOP is that there is a manager on duty at all times. I have notified the local APL that the kitties belong to who has confirmed that IT IS THE STORES RESPONSIBILITY to maintain the cat enclosure. I’m sure you have an SOP for the cat enclosure in that store and it is being severely neglected. I would hope that you would take action on this matter. I will be stopping in occasionally to check on any adoptables that store may have and if I find the conditions to ever be the same for the cat enclosure, I will pursue additional remedies on behalf of these animals.

I am writing this letter to complain about a situation that has me very bothered. I go in to purchase food, toys, snacks, and litter for both my dog and as well as my cat on a every week basis. Upon arriving yesterday after a long week of work, I ask for Kyle whom always helps me and was told that he no longer works there. I then asked how could that be? When Kyle was at the store, the store could not have run more efficiently. He is attentive, professional, was always eager to help and satisfy a customer’s needs. He is hands down the “GLUE” to the store. Many times he has helped me with special food orders for one of my pets. I feel it is a poor management decision and I am reconsidering purchasing my weekly list at your competitor even if it means traveling up to Wappingers Falls or even Poughkeepsie! I am going to inform all our other friends that shop for their pets there as well! They say everything happens for a reason, therefore all I can say is that: YOUR LOSS IS THE NEXT COMPANY’S GAIN! Stop the madness…bring Kyle back!

I have used Pet Supplies Plus for several years, picking up random dog treats, toys etc. for all of my animals. I purchased 2 Ferrets from store 0139 all within the last year, had no problems or complaints, rather enjoyable. That was until today, when I visited the same store to add my 3rd Ferret. The first gentleman was blunt, granted he was restocking what looked to be fish at the time, but I kindly asked him if I would be able to look at a Ferret. He said ‘he didn’t have a key’ but said the guy who did is on the phone and he would be back in a short while.’ I said that was fine. Time went by, when another employee approached, his name Jason. The first associate made no attempt in telling Jason that I was wanting to look at Ferrets. Instead they both began conversing with each other. I politely interrupted and said ‘excuse me, can I see one of the Ferrets?’ Jason’s immediate reply back to me was ‘Are you looking to buy one? Because I don’t want to take it out if you are just wanting to ‘PET’ it.’ And yes, that is quoted. I said yes, I am looking to get one but I would like to see the temperament of the ferret I was interested in. He then says, give me a few minutes. I was taken back extremely by Jason’s reply. I was not mean, rude or impolite in any way to deserve such a reply from him. Ferrets are not a cheap animal, $150+ when they are not on sale, which was the case today. I have already spoken to the store Mgr. about this and felt Corporate needed to know as well. I hope something will be done about this. It will be a while till I return to this store, if I even do.

I was hired by PSP for store229 in Orland Park ,il–yesterday 10/27 I was called into the office to be told there was a meeting that Sunday night that I was not informed about by the managers and was told that it was on the schedule in the back room and since I don’t work weekends I was not aware of this meeting and I would be written up. After I explained my understanding what happened I ask Jessica that my cardiologist called and changed my appointment 1/2 hour earlier and I asked to leave 15 minutes early. Jessica said too bad that I would have to miss my appointment that I have to go to every six months. It was her attitude that surprised me how leaving 15 minutes early would upset the balance of the store. If this is how you treat employees you won’t have many good people working for you and that is too bad–I did enjoy working for you after working for Sears for 23 years and they had a heart for their employees your company should not be the Tin Man

How come a Pet store would have anything to do with a company that would have Black cats on sale just before Halloween, haven’t they heard about the dangers that could befall a cat at these times. Have they not heard of Satanic cults that would buy these helpless animals solely for the purpose of using them for unspeakable harm, Today I was in a Pet Supplies Plus store only to see 3 young black cats waiting for adoption, when I mentioned the shock I felt, the young cashier was oblivious to my concern, Wake up Corporate Headquarters, and be aware of what your franchise stores are doing under your name,
