Perdue Farms was founded in 1920 by Arthur and Pearl Perdue, who had a small chicken farm. The company began by selling eggs, but later built a hatchery and sold chicks to other farmers. The company is still family owned and operated.
Today, Perdue Farms is one of America’s largest providers of chicken, turkey and pork. In addition to farms, the company also owns processing plants. Perdue Farms is the parent company of Perdue Foods and Perdue Agribusiness. Estimates are that the company has $6 billion in annual revenue or more, and at least 21,000 full time employees.
In 2007, the company removed all antibiotics from their feed, however, they have been criticized by animal welfare groups for not providing their animals with better living conditions.
In answer to criticism, Perdue has changed their farming practices, allowing chickens access to an outdoor area for a more natural habitat.
In August 2020, the company was given a Silver Stevie Award for their response to employee safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perdue Farms maintains their corporate office in Salisbury, Maryland.

Perdue farms is a really hard company to contact. I have been trying to reach corporate as I am very concerned with the drug and alcohol use at your Milford, Delaware Plant. I spoke with the supervising manager of the box room about seeing her employees being intoxicated while working. Alcohol and illegal drugs have played a part. No further actions were taken. These individuals steal company time and need to be drug screened. It’s a shame that it is not a requirement when dealing with machinery with this company. The supervisor is Crystal and she has exclaimed to me the name of her staff Frank, Kudair and Randy. Please look into this.

I am a 30+ year Perdue chicken consumer. Recently I have been purchasing “Range Free” Perdue chicken breasts at Walmart in Fulton NY. For the past month every Perdue chicken breast I cook is partially inedible due to tough, rubbery, sections. What is going on? The range free is more expensive and used to be really tasty, I am a dissatisfied Perdue customer.

I am writing to try and talk to one of the CEO. I just picked up a condom that was in my yard I did not realize what it was and picked it up, that was thrown over the fence from Perdue in Georgetown DE . We have tried to contact you more than once. One of the workers leaving work Tuesday around lunch time was peeing on the fence right acrossed the from the day care center . My husband has tried to talk to Therman Hopkins about this mater today but he was on the phone with a personal phone call and didn’t seem to care about this saying he would take care of this later . I want some on to call me so this can be taken care of.

Although a long-time user of Perdue products, I will never buy another Thanksgiving turkey through this company. This is the second year that the same scenario occurred. 1) turkey wing missing final joint making it impossible to fold wing under body in order to have bird in an up-right position; 2) neck area skin sliced in half making it impossible to stuff this area in order to present the bird properly for the table presentation; 3) missing the heart in the giblet bag. I can only assume that Perdue’s butchering equipment is the cause and that they have no intention of remedying what turns out to be a very “sad-looking turkey.” I assume they are selling the hearts or using them for other purposes. Their turkeys bear little resemblance to Norman Rockwell’s famous Thanksgiving picture. The turkey meat was excellent, but, since our family all sits around the table and anticipates the arrival of the bird as the finishing touch–Perdue merchandise is a total failure.

I was terminated due to pointing out… My car had gave me trouble, which I had called in an told my Lead that I wasn’t going to be able to make it to work.. I received a point which made me point out… The Supervisor shows so much favoritism.. I have heard several works brags about how the supervisor take away they points before they even fall off…Im a dedicated work, every time I got on that line I busted my a**, working hard to make sure I did my part as in trying to get the meat out to meet our quota.. I see now perdue don’t give a sh*t about how hard you work.. They only Care about the production… I once was on a heart moniyor, because my blood pressure had elevated due to the fact, stressing about me being on time to work an not trying to get points so I wouldn’t get terminated… I called an told my supervisor, guess what they didn’t care, I had to beg the Dr to release me from the heart monitor machine so I can make it to work an not get a point, which I couldnt stand at the particular time… One thing can say, if I did miss a day or was late for work, it had to be a pretty good reason an not just because any bull crap… Another thing I had a supervisor to tell some of my personal business, which is a breach of confidential… Nobody shouldn’t have anything about what I was going thru expect, me the supervisor an the Human Resource office…. But nooo, I had associates walking up to discussing my business with me, before I even knew what was going on… I was lost… I’m going file a complaint..

I was feeding my 18 month old son chicken nuggets and he bit into a one inch bone. I have talked to customer service without much success. They were going to send me a coupon for a new package (big deal). My son could have choked. This is a product liability issue.

Leaking chicken packaging. I recently bought a Perdue chicken and put it in the refrigerator. The package burst open and the water from the package leaked all over the inside of the refrigerator. Today I bought another one and it burst open on the way home. Fortunately it was double bagged and only ruined a bag of onions. Given the dangers of bacteria in poultry it is my opinion that Perdue needs to package its chickens so they stay sealed until opened on purpose.

Hi,
I am doing a talk on feathers, and am wondering if I can speak, or meet with someone about how you deal with all your chicken feathers.Feathers could be an amazing resource in the future, and since you are one of the biggest chicken processing companies, I would love to hear about you deal with all the feathers you get.
Thanks!

Do you go out of your way to make it near impossible to contact your office. Ten years ago I got through and asked a simple question ” I live in southern California where can I purchase your chicken”The stores here do not carry Perdue yet there are commercials constantly running on tv. The reply was ask your local stores!!! Stated Bros., Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons. No Perdue. But after reading the comments maybe I was smart to stop my search.

I have been married 44 years and I honestly don’t remember a time when I didn’t buy Perdue chicken products. Obviously I have always been satisfied. This week I purchased your new “Fresh Cuts” chicken strips. Thinking they would be a time saver, I thought I’d try them for a stir fry. What a disappointment when I opened the package to find HUGE strips of chicken. They were so thick and large I could have never used “as is” for stir fry.Okay ,so I re cut them in smaller strips. Each had to be cut into three extra strips. Then due to thickness, I had to cut them the other way. By now my “quick” stir fry had me sweating. Then I noticed a white grisliness vein running through the middle. By the time I was done, I swore to sit down and write this. The number on the package was 1 8050 11:03. Please rethink this item because I will certainly never purchase it again. It wasn’t cheap and it wasn’t quick!

As a frequent user of Perdue products I just wanted to inform you that I purchased a package of Perdue Thin Sliced chicken breast. Usually happy with your products, this time the cutlets were chewy and my husband just refused dinner because of the texture of the chicken. I will be returning them to the store today, but after putting all my hard work in preparing dinner, to find out it was uneatable.

I bit into one of your breakfast sausage links and something hard was in the link and it cracked two of my teeth. I have to leave work immediately after calling my dentist for an emergency appointment and had two crowns for this injury. I talked to consumer relations at Perdue and they sent me the forms for my dentist to complete. He did and I returned them. He said the injury was caused by the sausage bite and confirmed my teeth had no issues prior. I also had a picture of the spit out piece and the packaging (a picture of it with all the data) I called earlier this week to check on the claim and was told the cost of the crowns were denied and pretty much stop calling. It’s denied bcuz I didn’t send in the piece of meat. Since this unfortunately doesn’t appear it can be handled, I am now on a mission to inform everyone I can in every avenue possible to share my experience and the customer service since. I realize accidents happen and your company can not be perfect (a pair of safety glasses recall in May for instance) however I have two porcelain teeth now from your sausage and I am 41 years old and have never had anything but a cavity and take great care of my health and teeth. I have shared my story on Facebook my user name is Rebecca Matz Rossiter and I made it public, feel free to look at it and the comments that follow from friends. Is it worth that? Guess it is. It’s so sad that your company just couldn’t have done the right thing after this unfortunate event and I am forced to file claims with the BBB, and post everywhere I can the experience so someone will listen and hear.
