Foster Farms was founded in 1939 by Max and Verda Foster in Modesto, California. The couple initially started off with turkeys, with the back porch of the house being the company office. Foster Farms operates a large West coast poultry company.

Today, the company is one of the largest poulty producers in the West, known more for their chickens than turkeys. The company has fought hard to keep the word “natural” in their products and attempting to keep the poultry industry free from animal abuse or other types of animal mismanagement.

Foster Farms is still owned and operated by the Foster Family. In 2013, the company was certified as a “humane producer” by the American Humane Society.

FlipKey was founded in 2007 and was acquired the following year by TripAdvisor. FlipKey is an online vacation rental site, where people rent resorts, condos, or private homes, rather than hotel rooms.

The company relies heavily on traveler reviews. Currently, the company lists about 300,000 properties in 179 countries. The company changed it’s payment method from homeowner subscription to a commission based on occupancy. In 2014, the company began offering virtual tours of the surrounding cities.

FlipKey is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. The company has won numerous awards, although it has recently come underfire by some larger property managers who state that they feel they are overcharged.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods was founded in 1929 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, by Ed and Helen Buehler. The company operates a chain of grocery stores, which focus on local and sustainable food products. Buehler’s is the largest purchaser of Amish produce at the Mt. Hope Auction.

The company currently has 14 locations in the northeast part of the state of Ohio. Company headquarters are now located in Wooster, Ohio. Buehler family members still own and operate the company under the parent name of E&H Family Group. E&H for Ed and Helen.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods closed two locations in 2016, but are interested in adding different ventures to the company name, including ACE Hardware stores and Scenic River Coffee Company.

Mesa Airlines filed for bankruptcy in January of 2010 in order to release themselves from leases for the planes they no longer needed. The company came out of bankruptcy in March of 2011; the fastest turn around time for any airline filing for chapter 11.
