My name is Evan Fitchett and I’m the Undersecretary of Walker Model Congress 2017 at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School. WMC is a conference hosted by the Model Congress club at Maggie Walker for middle and high school students on the East Coast. It provides a platform for students to have fun emulating the real Congress in debating model political issues in a structured setting. We pride ourselves on our dedication to expanding Model Congress, popular mostly at the college level, to younger students. We believe exposure to both the issues facing our generation and respectful, professional, discourse is vital to creating an informed and engaged public for the future. Every year, we also pick a charity to donate to. This year, we are donating to Heifer International, which helps provide impoverished families around the globe with livestock and agriculture training. You can find out more about the conference this year on our website, .walkermodelcongress.com/, and there will be more information online as we continue to prepare for the conference in February.
But we won’t be able to provide any of this without funding. That’s why we’re asking for corporate donations to help raise money for Heifer. Any donation would really help us break last year’s charity donation of $1,500. We would be tremendously grateful if your organization were to partner with us in this effort. I am more than happy to meet with a representative in person to talk more about this opportunity. As a thank you for any donation you can provide, Walker Model Congress would like to extend a recognition to your organization in the handbooks we provide for the chairs, delegates, and teachers involved in making the conference run smoothly, as well as on our website.
I greatly appreciate your consideration,
Evan Fitchett
