LimeBike was founded in January of 2017 by Toby Sun, Brad Bao, & Adam Zhang. The first location chosen for these electric scooters was the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The company operates a fleet of electric scooters and bicycles for rent in urban locations.
In July 2017, the company expanded into other states and cities including South Lake Tahoe, California, and South Bend, Indiana. Later that same month, the company put 500 bicycles on the streets of Seattle, Washington.
In May 2018, the company rebranded itself simply as Lime, although most people refer to the company as Lime Scooters.
In early 2018, the city of Coronado, California, impounded more than 100 Lime Bicycles, forcing the company to $9,300 to recover them.
In August 2018, the company signed up with Uber to provide Uber with electric bikes for their spin-off company, Uber Bike Service.
In May 2018, the company announced that they planned to deploy “transit pods” in 2019. Transit pods would be very small electric cars capable of holding no more than 2 persons.
The company has been widely criticized as their scooters and bikes are often dumped on sidewalks and other public spaces, creating a nuisance.
After talking to city officials, Lime dropped off 500 scooters in Virginia Beach on July 13, 2019. While city officials admitted that they had discussed a deal with Lime, they insist that nothing was firm and that they were just as surprised as residents to see the scooters.
Company headquarters were recently relocated to the building that Uber occupies in San Francisco, California.

I live in Los Angeles, and I’m tired of almost being run over by kids on these scooters. They have no respect and sometimes there’s 3 and 4 kids trying to ride one scooter. They ride on the sidewalks flat out speed and you don’t even know they’re coming u0p behind you till the last minute. Is anyone at the company going to do anything about the danger of these things on the sidewalk???? I think the scooters are a great idea for getting around, but you have to do something about kids getting on them and not caring about sharing the sidewalks with pedestrians.

I got injured during an accident while riding Lime scooter due to the vehicle breaks malfunction and had to wait for over a month for customer service to check in with the maintenance just to later inform me that there was nothing wrong with the scooter. I had overcome injuries, medical expenses and personal belongings damage while no cooperation on the company end. I have been comfortably riding scooters for over 2 years now without a single accident. I am well aware that the problem was with the breaks!!

To whom it may concern,
I am reaching out to you on the behalf of Larimer Square here in Denver, Colorado. Larimer Square is a major restaurant and retail block with a very high volume of foot traffic. I was hoping to connect with someone that could help us set up a designated area for your scooters to be picked up and dropped off. We have been having a lot of trouble with your scooters being scattered around our block which has been causing people to trip over them. they also get dropped off adjacent to the valet/passenger loading zones and have to be moved on a daily basis. Thank you very much for you time and I hope to hear from someone soon!
All the best,

I own a apartment complex in Milwaukee
And unfortunately our resident and his friends decided to juice the batteries on my hallway electricity. Well that went on for 2 weeks. When they were told to stop they took them into their apartment and charged them from 9pm to 7am. They brought in 14-15 on each round during the night and have disturbed our residents. This is awful. Get your stuff out of my business. Tons of complaints

Good afternoon,

I work at a cinema cafe theater, well there has been one of your scooters outside our theater for over 2 weeks now. How it got there is beyond me, didn’t think it aS suppose to leave the Virginia beach area. Cinema Cafe has moved it closer to our front entrance. Whom do I contact to get it back to were it belongs.
Thank you

I live in Bothell Wash. I just found one of your lime scooters in front of my house. I want it gone ASAP. Please contact me immediately to tell me when it will be retreived.

They are becoming a nuisance in the neighborhood. Riders are irresponsible and are dangerous to pedestrians riding on sidewalks at a fast speed. Your scooters are making people lazy. No wonder why Americans are getting fatter. They can’t even walk a couple of blocks anymore on their own. Using electric scooters.

Are you still in the Burbank area of San Jose? There are several scooters on the front yard at 125 Wabash Ave, San Jose, CA. 95128. I suspect they are stolen or compromised. They are sure to be gone by the time you respond.

One of those green cockroaches is parked on the corner of E Caroline and N63rd Way in Phoenix. I don’t believe they’re allowed in this city. If it’s not gone very soon ‘ll put in a pile of crap for bulk pick up which will be starting in about a week.

Wow as a employee it’s hard to get your paid wages, they lie and give you the run around about money they owe you by working for them.

someone left one of you scooter in front of my driveway on Tuesday today is Friday and I have called 4 time to have it picked up. your call center is located out of the country and all they can do is send a message to have it picked up. if not picked up today I will go to social media and give a very bad review. I also sent a text and it responds with someone will contact you. I believe is sent that text on Wednesday and no one has contacted me.
I think I have been very patient but it must be picked up today. if you have any questions call me at 310-417-XXXX. I have also left a message at your corporate headquarters. you should really change the voicemail that tells you to leave a message. sounds very unprofessional. thank you marilyn
