Lennox International was founded in 1904 as Lennox Furnace Company. The company’s flagship product was a riveted-steel sheet metal coal furnace, which was an improvement over traditional cast-iron furnaces because the steel furnace did not warp after years of use. Cast-iron furnaces let smoke and coal gas into the living space after warping occurred.
In the decades following, the company manufactured and sold its very popular furnaces and related products, adding more products and manufacturing facilities as necessary. In the 1950s the company expanded into air-conditioning with water-cooled air conditioners.
Today Lennox International makes climate control equipment including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) for both commercial and residential customers under the brand names Lennox, Armstrong Air, Aire-Flo, Bohn, and Larkin. Products are sold through 7,000 dealers in the United States and Canada.
Since Lennox makes many of their products in factories located in Mexico, the cancellation of tariff’s by the Trump administration has many expecting their stock to rise significantly.
Lennox International trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol LII, is a member of the S&P 400, is #689 in the Fortune 1000, has 11,450 employees, and had $3.30 billion in revenue in 2013.
The company settled a class action lawsuit regarding faulty coil units in 2016 without admitting any fault in the matter. While the company claims it was going to change from the thinner copper coils to the industry standard of aluminum coils, this apparently hasn’t taken place.
In July 2021, current CEO Todd Bluedorn announced that he would retire in 2022.
Headquarters for Lennox is located in Richardson, Texas.

MR. Todd J Teske. Apparently, I am not the only unsatisfied customer with the problem you have with the spare parts that you don’t have in stock like a coil that I need. my A/C was damaged by hurricane IAN in Fort Myers Florida which occurred on September 28, 2022. We made a request for a new coil through Yoders Heating & Cooling ( tel # 239-464-6142) . Today is January 2, 2023, and we are still without air conditioning and waiting for this part. Can you tell me what are my options to solve this problem? Remember we live in Florida which is hot all year round. Can you tell me, when will I get this part to fix this unit that I purchased from you believing that I was going to get a good CUSTOMER SERVICE from you? I’ll be waiting for your answer. HAPPY NEW YEAR>

We have a fairly new unit. New home build in April 2017, our evaporator and condenser coil went out. Our neighborhood is all new builds and our community Facebook page has a long thread of problems with Lennox units. This is a major concern and problem. Obviously something was faulty and not recalled if so many people in my neighborhood are having the same problem. Lennox warranty is telling us the part to be replaced is not in stock and currently in production in China or something. They told us maybe ETA is 8-12 weeks before part is ready. We are in the peak of summer and inside our home is between 82-85 degrees. Next week is only going to get hotter. Its miserable. We have 2 young children and 2 dogs as well. Lennox can’t even offer hotel stay , reimbursement for hotel stay, nor help in covering the labor charge to have the part installed which is $1200. I’m a school teacher and my husband is a disabled vet and on a fixed income. Lennox wouldn’t offer any help. How and why are parts in a new AC unit failing and many people in my neighborhood having same problem. Lennox has not been easy to work with. When I finally get through to someone after holding for over 2 hours, I keep getting the run around and so is our technician that filed the warranty claim. Not happy with this company one bit and will make it a mission of mine to make people aware of how faulty Lennox products are and how unhelpful they have been. Mr. Todd Bluedorn is you could so kindly give me a call to discuss why your products are faulty and why so many people are having the same issues on new units. Here is my # 817 807 XXXX.

Same exact issue. Evaporator coil went out in less than 3 years and Lennox is telling me only the part is covered and not labor which is $1500.
I’m very concerned as we enter the hottest months of summer.
I purchased a complete HVAC system (Two Lennox AC Units and a Lennox Furnace) from Costco in July 2018 for $14,100. Costco outsourced the installation to a company called Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning Raleigh in Raleigh, NC which has serviced the unit every year (3 times) since they installed it. During the recent 3rd maintenance service check in May 2021, they indicated the unit was fine; however 3 days later one of the AC units started failing. When I called Service Experts to inform them, they sent someone out to look at the unit and immediately wanted to charge me $300 to de-ice the unit. Then they indicated that refrigerant was low and said they had to add a pound.
Since Service Experts believed the unit was leaking they also wanted to charge for that. Upon explaining the situation that the unit didn’t have issues until their service tech performed the 3rd maintenance service, they agreed to do the leak search. Upon the 4th visit, they confirmed a leak and are now still wanting to charge me labor roughly $1500 in labor to fix the issue. This is absolutely absurd considering the unit is less than 3 years old, as well as was maintained each year (3 times by Service Experts) who originally installed the unit.
Also upon my inspection of the inside of the unit when Service Experts for checking for the leak, the unit does not look new inside.
I’m totally disappointed in Lennox, Costco, and Service Experts because you all aren’t standing behind your equipment nor is Costco and Service Experts standing behind the installation.
When I decided to make this large of a purchase I could have bought a complete HVAC system from any company but I made the decision to purchase Lennox from Costco because I thought they would stand behind the equipment and installation. I have reported this to the Lennox and Costco Member Services Corporate and after over three weeks still have not received a response which is disheartening to say the least.
I’m a consumer who believed in your product and only want what is right. My old AC unit was leaking and I didn’t expect to have the exact same issue with a brand new complete HVAC system.

This is an absolute atrocity, How in God’s name or by the US constitutional law is this so called company still permitted to operate. Obviously no one at the headquarters where these people work have any thought or concern about the people that pay them every week. Their executives have an attitude beyond greed in the way that they operate this once successful business . We can all understand one or two faulty product mistakes but to knowingly sell a constant defective product is criminal and sinful !! No conscious from these greed mongers.
I purchased my expensive unit in 2015, I along with most of the other comment writers is paying again to have a piece of crap evaporator coil to be put in ( 2 within 5 years). This is just so wrong at so many levels !!

We had a new Lenox system installed 3 years ago. AC works great but the furnace has to be repaired every year. 5 Star installed it, I figure a new system doesn’t need a service contact, WRONG cost 650.00 last year to fix it. Now I had my new service provider out because we have a wet spot on our ceiling. Turns out the fittings for intake and exhaust are leaking, 750.00 to 1200.00 to repair not counting sheetrock repair. Then the tech tells me this unit should not have been installed in this application. 10 year parts and labor warranty has now cost me about 1800.00. I’m originally from MN used Lenox in all my homes there, mover to SC now all I do is get screwed.

I have been trying for weeks to contact Lennox warranty department (for extended warranty) to no avail (email and phone). I phoned customer care and received the run around saying the warranty department is small and it may take four weeks or more to receive a response. Based on other customer comments I’ve read regarding Lennox products it might be a good idea for Lennox to expand their warranty group.
I’m not at all impressed with Lennox customer service. I sincerely hope I do not experience the issues others have had with their Lennox HVAC systems.

This is unbelievable… Reading all the other comments I have the same problems with mine. I have two units one for the larger side of the house and one for the smaller side. The large one went out in the blazing heat of the summer. I had no air-conditioning for several weeks while trying to get somewhere with Lennox on this issue. During this time thinking oh we can use the smaller unit on that side of the house. Unimaginable that unit breaks the same week. The blowers out. We have already had the blower replaced in a larger unit a few years back. Now the coils are out in the large unit. Now no heat in freezing temperatures. I have been emailing Lennox back-and-forth getting nowhere. Send them the documentation up keep and maintenance over the last few years. That they requested. Still nothing. We just wanted the parts replaced we said we would pay for labor. It’s so dishonorable of Lennox to treat customers like this. We’ve spent a great deal of money on two units and they’re only six years old.

A Lennox unit was installed in 2012. The computer board had to be replaced in 2014 at my expense. Now in 2019 it has to be replaced again!! On top of that, the Lennox store is charging $100 to open the store on Saturday for the part!! What compassionate people. I’m 72 years with asthma, and now I get to pay $742 for service as well as the expense I’ve already incurred with other service calls.

Last month, we replaced our American Standard A/C system with a $14K+ Lennox system. Turns out to be a piece of crap. It has never cooled properly because of factory defects, which were repaired two days ago. Today it shut down again, in 95 degree +Texas heat, because of a “communication” problem. Too date, this is the worst commercial purchase mistake I’ve ever made. I should have stayed with American Standard.

We had our10 yr. old Goodman a/c replaced with a Lennox XS16 4 yrs ago. Ever since we have had nothing but problems: air-flow is too drafty after numerous attempts by the installer adjusting the wall registers; air-flow is noisy since there are no regulating controls, unlike our $100 window a/c that has controls for air flow and noise levels. Maybe we should have checked all these things out before the Lennox purchase. We are like most folks that depends on the installer who promises everything and we find out the truth too late. Our $2k Goodman a/c functioned better than our new $10k Lennox.

Hello There,
I really need your advice with my heating and cooling Lennox purchase.
Currently, I have installed horizontally in my 1200 sq/ft apartment zip code 06460, LENNOX Unit indoor Model ECBH8471 Serial # 537 4A10138 ( 8″ deep, 30″ wide 48″ long). It is most important to replace with 14 inches deep at most. Hopefully, you can locate the 8″ inch deep existing unit.
And outdoor condenser Model # HSW 4211 2FFP. 2 ton is adequate, anything less is cold in winter.
This is what I found.
First Co. 24WMHP Heat Pump Furnished by Lennox
First Co. 24WCX-12AB Condensing Unit Furnished by Lennox
First Co. 25HX10 AHU Furnished by Lennox (Dimensions: 10 x43 1/4 x 21 HWD)
Will this work? What are the dimensions of the horizontal inside the unit?
Please help me solve this problem.
Thank you.

I own a home. 7.5 years now. Was just informed by our AC tech that we need a new AC Coil, it is leaking. I have heard and read that there was a class action lawsuit regarding Lennox Coils and that Lennox settled. Would like Lennox to pay for the coil. There is no way a coil should go bad in 7.5 years of normal wear. Please advise.
Janice and Fred says
Consider yourself lucky the A coil lasted 7.5 years. Ours had to be replaced after 2 with the same story. Lennox recognized the defective product and replaced it free of charge. Oh, you want it installed. Sorry, you have to pay $800 for the labor. There was a class action suit in 2013 and another in 2015 and yet Lennox keeps putting the faulty A coil on the market. Is this not a form of deliberate fraud against consumers?

My Lennox AC is only 3 years old and I’m being told I need a new coil. The coil is on backorder and they have no idea when it will be in stock. I was also told that the copper coil is being replaced with an aluminum one.
My AC is running out of Freon every 4 days. I can’t afford to spend $200.00 every 4 days for Freon. I’ve gone through two AC techs because they don’t want to deal with it.
Will a Ducane coil work in my unit? My Lennox parts have a 5 year warranty.
Any suggestions on a solution. It gets pretty hot and humid in Georgia in July.

I got my Lennox unit Nov 2016 and I have to replace my coil. I called Lennox they only pay for the part. I feel they need to pay for the labor since it is so new. I don’t think I would ever buy another Lennox. I never had this problem with my Goodman. I feel we all need to write a letter to the CEO of Lennox with copies of the repair bills. These units are expensive to buy and they are suppose to be made in the USA however the coil parts are made in China.
I guess Lennox didn’t learn there lesson after paying out millions to this same problem. Good Luck

I am having a huge issue with a Lennox heat pump and system that was installed in August 2017. I have contacted the install company – CLIMATE ZONE of Haverhill MA 02454 -and another local dealer – SILA of Stoneham MA 02180 . This issue has been going on since January 18th of 2019. The two above mentioned dealers have sent technicians here on many occasions (10 times) and they have been unable to correct the problem. Needless to say going through a New England winter with all this uncertainty and worry have been extremely stressful. I am an 83 year old recent widow and cannot keep living with this situation. When we purchased the Lennox unit we assumed that our concerns re heat and
cool would be efficiently taken of since we thought that we were purchasing one of the best units on the market. We spent $13,300 for the unit and have already spent over $3,300 to rectify our problem which has not been resolved. I feel that this unit is defective and should be replaced with a new one. The technicians who have been here do not seem to know what to do. Please contact me as soon as possible!!!! Evelyn Polli -Waltham, MA 02452 – (617)-484-XXXX

In April of 2014 we purchased a Lennox system including the air handler, compressor and heater. In August of 2016 the first coil was replaced. Now in October of 2018 we are having to pay again to replace the coil. How is it that a Coleman contractor grade system lasts for 15 plus years before failing and being replaced by this Lennox system by Lennox authorized dealer, maintained by the dealer and we have had more failures that there should be. I have a Lennox case number that I called to get the status on and all I was told is that it has been past to the field. The Lennox case number is 131481. I am wondering how many more failures I can expect before I bite the bullet and replace this system with a more reliable one and a contractor who does not service LENNOX.

March of 2017 we purchased a brand new EL16XC1 along with a new condenser, air handler and heater. Today August 14, 2018 the condenser fan motor is being replaced. How does this part break in a little over a year. Please have someone contact me regarding this. To replace the fan motor it is costing us $250.00, from the authorized Lennox dealer that we purchased the unit from. The dealer also installed it too.

We built a new home last year and had a Lennox Signature series installed, we thought we were getting a high quality product. So far we have had no air 4 times coil, breaker, blower motor and plugged I would like this removed from my home as I am concerned for my safety. I left a home with a 20 year old TRANE and all I can say is TRANE TRANE TRANE! I Will be contacting you to see what action I will be taking. I just paid another 350 that brings me up to around 1,000.00 that would be a good deposit on a TRANE .

I know it is to soon for you to know what all the damage was in the Marshalltown plant. BUT, My husband, Dwight Waddle, His father Doyle Waddle and Oscar Ammer were Lennox dealers for at least 50 years altogether.
What a shame it would be if the plant in Marshalltown was not rebuilt. I realize it is to soon to tell but having the plant in Marshalltown was so handy for product pickup, parts pickup, knowledge training etc.
Please think it over carefully before you make a decision.

I have an 11 year old lennox gas fireplace that will not light. When it did light, it would not stay lit. Called the local Lennox dealer and they do NOT maintain gas fireplaces, nor could they tell me someone who did. Went to Lennox website and the contact page only gave me mailing addresses to contact. Found this site where I could send a note via my computer.
Very disturbing when the Lennox dealer does not maintain a product and cannot recommend someone who will. Hope I can get this serviced. Would not buy or recommend Lennox products after this experience.

Good Morning,
I purchased a new Lennox AC furnace unit August 2013. Since 2014 we had to have an HVAC person come out to assist us with the unit not working properly, who now is suggesting there can be a leak or faulty part. I have am pouring money into this NEW unit which is suppose to be energy efficient and my electric bill is running over from a unit that runs but doesn’t work.
Home Depot, place where it was originally purchased said we need to contact Lennox.
I was placed on hold with corporate with out a person getting on the line quite a few times.
My number is 908-770-XXXXX We EXPECT a call back regarding this issue.
I went with Lennox thinking it was the best decision. Not sure it was right.
