Joe’s Crab Shack is a chain of beach-themed seafood restaurants.
The first Joe’s Crab Shack opened in Houston, Texas in 1991. In 1994 Landry’s Restaurants, Inc. bought the restaurant and within one year had grown to three locations.
In 2006 Joe’s was sold to J.H. Whitney & Company for $192 million. J.H. Whitney later changed its name to Ignite Restaurant Group.
Today Joe’s Crab Shack is a national chain with 110 restaurants in 28 states. The restaurants have a festive atmosphere and many are on waterfront property with large outdoor patios. Many include features such as playgrounds and arcades.
In June of 2017, the company filed for bankruptcy. Kelly Investment Group has offered $50 million for the chain, but there is no word yet as to whether this offer will be accepted.
While a few locations closed in 2020 due to the pandemic, new locations are being opened in 2021.
The corporate office for Joe’s Crab Shack remains in Houston, Texas.

I wish I would’ve looked into the comments for this restaurant before eating there. I took a party of 6 out of town guests to Joes Crab Shack in Myrtle Beach. Upon entering the location the female at the counter was very rude and told us it would be an hour and a half wait. Okay, so my guests really wanted the steamer pots so we agreed and decided to wait. It took the whole hour and a half to get seated and I noticed they had everyone crammed into a small section together instead of spacing us apart. It was very hot in there, almost unbearable, when I realized the ceiling fans in the entire restaurant were not on. I flagged down our waitress and she said she would tell someone and get them turned on. When she returned I asked her about the fans still not being on and she said the GM was off that day and no one could figure out how to turn them on. After ordering one of my guests went to the restroom to wash her hands and when she came back to the table she told me to be very careful if I had to go in there because the entire floor was wet. I went in there to see it and let me tell you, I have seen cleaner beach or gas station bathrooms. I even said out loud “I hope the kitchen doesn’t look like this.” The server was very nice and our food was brought out but I was having a problem with the sausage looking like a hot dog. I wish I could put pictures on here of all the issues I saw. For what they charge for the food you think you could at least sit in a comfortable environment and eat good food!

An hour & 1/2 wait for 4 adults and a child. Ok, we had a drink at the bar. The bartender then seats a party of 2 and tells the hostess to send her other parties of 2/3. We asked how she was seating and serving them instead of making them wait. Her reply was “there is only 2 of them”. Ok but you asked for more parties of 2/3 so another table and she could have waited on us! Eventually the rude bartender “stephanie” told us we would have to leave the bar area. So we proceeded to go back up front to wait. Our wait time went 10 minutes past the quoted time. Took another 15 minutes to get to order. The papertowels were nasty from other diners putting their dirty hands on top to get a towel. The veggies were cold and the food was overall bland. The hostess acted like she would rather be having a root canal than be there. The check came and we had to have a kids drink removed since it was part of the kids meal. Also had to ask for the ice cream that comes with the kids meal. First and last time I have ate at Joe’s Crab Shack. Their sign ask for kindness as they are short staffed. That goes both ways. Be kind to the customers that chose to wait the hour and half to eat subpar food.

My wife and I ate tonight June 19,2021 at Joe’s in Clifton NJ. Worst food I ever had. I ordered the pirate platter. It was nothing but grease , I couldn’t finish it. It’s 7 hours later in the middle of the night and I just got done puking my guts out.
My wife ordered the Queen Crab Legs. They were not good and the corn was old like it was sitting out a while.
Do yourself a favor and don’t eat there.

I work at Joe’s in Bossier City and I have never been so upset about the way the company has allowed one of its managers to treat a rape victim. I was stalked and harassed by the man who raped me at work. Then to add insult to injury I was discriminated against by the same manager who stole something from me. Threatened my life as well as my families for being vocal about what happened to me. I found some money on the floor and I turned it in to the manager the same one who has since I been there given me a hard time. Instead of him asking around to see who had dropped it. He turned around an passed it on to another server. I have had this man harass me for almost 3 years since the rape happened in 2019. He in listed other employees to also aid in the harassment. I can’t get the police department or any other law enforcement agency to help me. Because of who he is a sheriff, but to rape a women who did nothing to you is crazy. I am a hard worker and the extent of how far this man has went to cover his tracks is beyond belief. I have never called in since I have been there and I try to make the customers happy. It is unfair that this man is allowed to do this and us a company to do his dirty work.

So yesterday my daughter, sister, and nephew went to Joes Crab Shack Round Rock location for my bday. We stood by the door for 10 min waiting to be seated, while bartenders and waiters walked by numerous times and never set a word. So we sit ourselves. After 10 more minutes no one came over, so my sister went and found someone to come take our order. He brings us 1 menu. Then we realized there was no kids menu on the one he gave us, mind you, he saw the kids with us and not to mention my sister had to go find her own high chair for my nephew and unwrap the saran wrap that it was covered in. So we found someone and said do you have a kids selection, he says oh yes I’ll bring some kids menus. It took about 10 more min for someone to come take our drink and appetizer order. The drinks were okay but the spinach dip was bland and we barely had any unsalted drenched in grease chips! We proceed to order our main course and it was even worse. I asked for 3 things, each time was told they didnt have or was our of season or discontinued. Every single thing on my plate was unseasoned. My salmon was dry, the rice just instant white rice dumped on the plate and cold unseasoned broccoli. The a la cart lobster tail I ordered was so old it was rubbery and unseasoned. I asked for garlic butter to see if that would help, and was given unseasoned oil that tasted like nothing! All of My sisters food was hard fried, shrimp rubbery and unseasoned as well. My daughter ate her pizza, but my nephew couldn’t eat his mac n cheese because it was also dry. We told our server which we felt bad because he was so sweet. He then called the manager who acted like we were the problem. He saw the food himself so I’m not sure what his attitude was about. He told my sister he would switch her meal to a cheaper one since she ate the fish and then asked me what did I want and I said just bring me another drink, since that was the only thing that was good. Never got it! I watched them go over and sing happy bday to the next table, never even acknowledged mine. Even though I had mentioned to the waiter 4 times it was my bday. Anyhow, the manager rudely agreed to comp $45 of $113 dollar bill even though we didn’t get to eat and came back to the table combative when my sister questioned the bill. We left without a thank you for coming and actually they never even came back to get the ticket holder we just left it on the table. Worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I was appalled and my bday was ruined! I’ve been to an outstanding Joes Crab Shack in San Antonio. This was not it! They need a serious over hall!

A friend of mine tried to take me to the round rock location for lunch today we ordered the steam pot for 2 the first steam pot came out the potatoes where hard and under cooked the sausage was cold in the middle we called the server back to the table and explained the issue he took it back when he brought the second pot out he sat the butter on top and when trying to set it down the butter flew off all over my friend and her chair we got that cleaned up and proceeded to check the food again potatoes still not cooked sausage is cold this time only 1 sausage in the pot instead of 2 manager tells us to eat what we can she will bring us a new one I tried a piece of shrimp and it was so hard I could barely bite it I spit it out and called the waiter over to remove the pot told him it wasnt cooked right the third pot they bring us the manager swears she tempted everything so we get the sausage out and again still cold have her touch it so she can see we arent lying at this point 3 pots have been delivered and not cooked right everytime but we still try to eat it the crab tasted bad like it was spoiled at this point the manager acts like we are a problem and says she will take care of the meal we could not eat and we left

May 6th we had a celebration “My mother 81st birthday”. We needed more tables/chairs. The restaurant did not accommodate us. We had to split our party up so, half of the party left. The Manager did not want to talk with us and she didn’t try and fix the problem. I stayed at the restaurant. The table they said will be used never got used. They placed everyone that came in the restaurant at other tables.
1. Customer Service was bad
2. Company lost money
3. We will boycott that Joe’s Crabs Shack-Cedar Hill

Aug 23, 2017 my son wanted to eat at Joe’s Crab Shack in Independence, Missouri for his birthday. We found that the restaurant was permanently closed and no further reason for it to close. How disappointing this was for us. We had to go to different restaurant that served seafood.
This restaurant was always busy.

I was dinning at the Daytona Beach Joes Crab Shack and you could hear an alarm going off we had a former Joe’s Crab Shack employee with us and he informed us that it was that the grease trap was full. Surly enough the next day the restaurant located in Daytona beach was closed for grease leaking into our ocean and sand. Every manager heard this alarm that was going off all day and night and not one of them did anything about it. Also durning this visit I saw a manager named Brandon (he introduced himself to us) slap our server on the forehead. She was by the server station trying to get other employees to sing happy birthday with her when he walked up to her and yelled at her to stop standing around. She explained herself to him and I guess he felt dumb for yelling at her so he slapped her. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and I have never seen a manager lay a hand on an employee who by the way was very polite and sweet. Not only did every manager ignore the alarm that was warning them about the grease but they let the traps get so full that they started leaking into our beautiful oceans. you also have managers who are slapping servers. I strongly believe something needs to be done.

I worked at the Joe’s in Las Vegas on Rainbow n lakemead. Not only did the 30 yr old GM Robert come to work drunk half the time he never showed up for his own shifts and had his little puppet Amber show up for him. I’m Just one of many workers there that has noticed this. At every orientation there was atleast 4-5 guys that are gay nothing wrong with that but I could just imagine what he’s really hiring them for. It was not like this when Sergio was the GM. If your not in his clique he will find a reason to fire you. By far the worst company to work for glad I got out when I did Now I know why they going bancrupt they let kids run and manage their restaurants pretty sad Joe’s use to be such a great fun place. Not anymore

Cheryl stalhman the GM in Fairview Heights IL Is one of the most disloyal, incompetent, dishonorable manager I have ever had !! Why ??? Because during the interview she told me there are mornings available, when I got hired on there were none. There are only two girls that only work mornings NOT nights . I was told that I have to work weekends including nights, the other two girls they didn’t work nights nor the weekends, the GM ”tell me because they have children”,( personally I don’t feel like that should be used as an excuse because I have a child myself) there is issues that need to be addressed , another thing I have told her my personal business that was going on in my life an she have disclosed it with other employees ! At this point she is not honoring a GM she is conniving an a BULLY . Please someone need to address her before she become the end of Joe’s. Cheryl retaliated in soooo many ways an her favoritism has made me depart from Joe’s . BULLY IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON THINGS in Fairview Heights ( GM)

Went to Joe’s Crab Shack in Robinson Town Center in Pittsburgh Pa last night. Generally I love to eat at Joe’s however last night was an awful experience. 1 person who was with us ordered a pound of snow crab, then We opted to get the crab bucket for 2 with one of sides including the corn, and potatoes. Mine was supposed to be fries and hush puppies. When the food arrived the pound of snow crab didn’t even equal a pound there was only about two clusters, neither the Crab bucket for 2 both orders were short, only had one cluster of each, no sausage, cold, and the soda we paid for was flat. Made a complaint with the waiter who then brought out about 2 more clusters so being unhappy with the service already I was charged 85.95 the price that it would of been originally. Definitely not pleased with having to pay for errors that should of been corrected by staff. Love joes but last night has me thinking perhaps if this can be corrected I’d be happy with Joes once again.

NEVER AGAIN!!!! THE WORST PLACE FOR SEAFOOD!!!! SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO HAVE CRABS IN THE TITLE!!!!! Joe’s Crab Shack by Arundel Mills Mall in Maryland has got to be the worst place I have ever eaten at. My daughter wanted to treat me to dinner and thought JCS would be a great place to go. We arrived around 6:45pm on a Monday we walked in and nobody was at the front to greet us so we stood there for a while before the hostess came up and greeted us, so she said she was going to take up in the back because the waiter Demetrius wasn’t busy. We sat down and waited for 10 minutes before Demetrius showed up to take our order didn’t greet us or anything, we told him it was our first time at JCS thinking he would suggest what items might be good, but no he just looked at us and asked us if we wanted an appetizer, so we order the crab nachos (we were not impressed). Then he came back and took our meal order so my daughter ordered the East Coast Platter and I ordered the Joe’s Classic steam pot. When I order finally arrived the waiter put our food on the table and walked away without asking if we needed any additional condiments (which my daughter needed ketchup and XXXXtail sauce). When I opened my steam pot I could tell right away the cluster of crab legs they gave me were old, small and over cooked, so I waited for another 15 minutes and finally had to ask the hostess who came by if I could a better order of crab legs, so she went and got our waiter and I asked him if I asked him to replace the crab legs which took another 20 minutes before they came out. We had finally had enough with the terrible service and food, so we asked for our check once we got the check my daughter noticed they had charged an additional $9 for the replacement crab legs so I believe the one lady was the manager at the time asked me if everything was okay, so I showed her the bill and she said the charge would be removed. Thinking back on the check amount of $60 and the $6 tip we left I honestly believe that was too much for the poor service and food that JCS served up last night!!!!! What I really can’t understand is how a restaurant during the weekday is not busy but the quality of service we received was as if it was a Friday night where it was jammed packed.

I went to Joe Crab Shack in Mesquite, TX with my family on Friday for my little cousin’s birthday dinner last Friday July, 15th. First off the waitress was very slow with taking orders. I mean it took her a long time just to take the drink orders. Then she was not knowledgeable about anything at the place she is a waitress at. She couldn’t even tell me how much drinks cost. I was shocked to find out they don’t even sale frozen alcoholic beverages. I ordered the Great ball of Fire appetizer and I didn’t think it was good at all. That spoiled my appetite so I didn’t order any more food, other then kid’s meals for my children. The waitresses were not friendly, except for this one guy waitress that helped the girls out at moments. Then they added a 18% tip to my ticket that I had to pay for service that I didn’t even feel I received. I kept my mouth shut and didn’t complain about anything while I was there, because I didn’t want to spoil her birthday. I strongly doubt I will ever go back. That was a Friday night ruined and definitely a disappointment Joe’s Crab Shack.

My first experience at Joe’s Crab Shack I wanted a nice piece of fish I tried their fish and chips they were greasy and all the chips have been lying there for several hours and tasted like sawdust is this a corporate restaurants idea of Exquisite food because it really was terrible and I won’t be back we were told by the people that work there that the corner cuts and lack of even allowing you to have a plate to eat your food on is coming from corporate that’s why I’m complaining
Nichole says
Food was good,…. besides the rotten set of crab legs, king crab legs you could not crack open because the shell was over cooked and rubbery…it took twenty minutes to bring our drinks and take our order. Husband ordered burger without BBQ sauce it came smothered in it…the server said, “sorry I’ll get you a new one” after waiting for our food for 30 mins..he declined, so instead of taking it off the bill they took his xtra patty charge off {3 bucks}. I asked for a water and a glass of white wine, she walked by four (20 mins) times before I had to stop her and ask her again! What’s worse is she brought the water but no wine then after reminding her again she brought a glass of RED wine…that was a full glass. I said, “that’s chardonnay”? When she came back with the chardonnay, it was half full. It wasn’t even busy….Needless to say for a Sunday it was horrible service with maybe 4 servers working, one host, one bartender and a manager. And maybe if our server wasn’t too busy standing at the service bar talking to the bartender, her tables would have had better service. The only time she paid attention to us is when we were done waiting for change. $115.00 bill, we would have rather enjoyed fine dining over “Joe’s Crab Shack”!! She could have got at least a $30 tip……but unfortunately that was not deserved. Heres a tip for you, make sure drinks are always filled especially a man drinking iced tea. The manager came to our table and made us feel like it was our fault and that we were stupid. I know people think serving is a piddily job, but it’s actually a very important job if you want a good experience! Coming from a seasoned server professional. We would appreciate a full refund!

i was a server/ host at Joes Crab Shack for more than a year and they have no communication there between 5 managers, they talk to you like they are better than you and never treat you with respect, I tried to get my husband a job there cuz money was tight for us, and the manager told me if he was a piece of sh** not to even bother, the next day the other manger called me a Hoe in front of Guests Because i had a hat on with a cross. they dont rotate you on the jobs you perform even if you work your ass off they still look at you as if you dont even exsist. i loved it there bc the dancing is fun and meeting new people from all over the place is exciting, not every day you meet someone from Georgia, or Washinton.. the kitchen is always on strike it seems like or it always crashes and then Customers leave upset, thats not a way to run a business if you dont know how you shouldnt do it. I Quit after the Harassment there, my manager didnt even talk to me about it just kept me on the schedule till my 2 weeks was up then let me go so they didnt have to deal with any issues, if you decide to go out to eat Dont go to the Joes Crab Shack in Branson Mo,.

I am very disappointed in Joe’s Crab Shack! This used to be one of my favorite restaurants up until I had the worst service of my life at the Stone Mountain location in Ga, which is now closed down for very obvious reasons. Service there was horrible and I did not plan on visiting this establishment ever again and I made that very clear while I was there. A few weeks after my visit I received a gift card for $60.00 which says it had no expiration. I was unclear on what exactly that meant so I called back up to the location where I was told by a manager that I could use the coupon over and over. So on my LAST visit my coupon did not work and I spoke with the general manager and he informed me that my coupon could only be used once, but I had used it 5 times prior to this incident. I feel as if I should be reimbursed my money for a error on behalf of this company. I am no longer interested in visiting your establishment! Joe’s has lost a valued customer and I will be sure everyone I know and don’t know will hear about this situation and be sure not to eat there as well.

I visited the Joe’s Crab Shack in Cedar Hill Tx today, I was very dissatisfied, You guys no longer sale Catfish, and the meal that I ordered was the Crispy Platter, the squid was fried so hard that I couldn’t eat it, the calamari was very old or had been refried, but the shrimp was fine. We also ordered chicken tenders that were greasy and very little. I come to Joe’s at least three to four times a month, but the last three times I have been disappointed. Please help this location to get back on track. this is the nearest to my home. I don’t like to spend $ 44.21 and leave unhappy. most of the time I spend more and leave unhappy, I use to love this place.

My mom and I split the traditional steam pot for 2 we left still hungry. :(But here is the deal I was in St Louis just before thanksgiving. I ordered the exact same item off the menu. However, when I had it in Saint Louis there were two green bags of crab legs 4 clusters. When I came here to the kc location and ordered the same thing, same price but only received 1 green bag of crab 2 1/2 clusters. I’m pretty upset because I was raving to my Mom about how much crab there was. And that just wasn’t the case this time. I’m very unhappy about it. I even checked Google images and sure enough 2 bags of crab 4 clusters… it’s false advertising and I won’t be back.

I have to say that I have been thinking about the tips lately. I would like to see all restaurants in America to be forced to pay the waitresses minimum wage. Then the tip is decided by the customer. We already pay a fortune for the experience and I know it doest cost $50 for a few crawfish and a sausage link. Have career employees your company will thrive guaranteed and for God Sake don’t donate the tips to charity. Let the waitress make as much as possible so that they may be able to make a career out of it earning 50-60k per year depending on their tips. At that point its up to the employee. Don’t take the money from them. I hate restaurants for this reason and when people complain you get a bunch of attitude because they don’t get paid enough to put up with the XXXXX that your company manager should have the balls to face.
Bottom line Minimum wage + Tips = success and first in America not to screw their employees.

Here’s an idea how about you pay your servers a decent wage and let us customers decide if we feel they deserve a tip or not. I don’t need some corporate suit to tell me if I need to tip or not it is a common practice regardless of wages. My family won’t be back at JOE’S and by the looks of your Facebook page you have lost thousands of customers guess you’ll be closing down a lot more locations soon!

I would not eat at a place that automaticly adds a TIP on my food bill. I tip according to the service I recieve,, Good service big tip 30 or 40 percent ,…down to as little as just a few pennys if server is not attentive to my needs …
If you are adding a tip to my bill its because you are trying to keep from giving them a livable wage ….

Horrible, horrible experience! Several issues- Reservations for birthday party of 15 not ready, only 1 server for 15 people, Server told us he was new, server had no support from anyone with our large party, , cold food for 4 of us, asked to speak to mgr- she came after 15 minutes and only said” sorry” and walked away. 2 of us were never asked if we wanted beverage- had to request to get our coffee and tea, mgr was seen 15 minutes later and we had to approach her about the cold food problem. She didn’t seem to care so 1 person sent food back and went without,Food missing that was ordered, food brought that wasn’t ordered, told the server up front we would need several separate checks but everything came on 1 check, took over 1 hour to separate because they kept coming back with wrong totals, a man came from the back at the end wearing a tie dye shirt and head bandana and accused us saying on of his servers told him we were going to walk out without paying, never identified himself til asked then said he was the assistant manager, and he was coming out to make sure we all paid, very unprofessional looking and speaking, when we explained the problems that we had he blamed the server and us. never apologized, never offered compensation knowing we had never been there before, said he didn’t care if we never came back. told my niece she was being charged $3 for the piece of cake she ordered for her birthday! Our bills totaled over $300 and we were treated like our business wasn’t important to him at all. Horrible, horrible, will never return to any JCS ever! this was in Roseville, MN on 8/29/2015. we arrived at 4:30 and left at 9:20 most of the time waiting to order, waiting for food and waiting for checks –

Wow..we had almost the exact similar experience in Jacksonville FL on Oct 30th !
Long in detail complaint filed. Party of 15 for a birthday. Table wasn’t ready when reserved. Wrong food delivered, cold food, out of a lot of food. Checks were not kept track of, waiter was new and unable to handle a large group. End of the night ended with almost a brawl ! Waiter quit and was screaming at my daughter, threw his apron and was ready to take a swing at my daughter !
The experience was awful!
Normally enjoy Joes..don’t think we will return.

My family and I visited Joes Crab shack in Myrtle Beach SC Friday night 7/3/2015. We ordered the following meals…crab legs with fries and hush puppies, shrimp Alfredo, shrimp dinner, and a chicken tender meal! We sat down at 1045pm and our food finally arrived one hour later at 1145pm! Our food was cold and the crab legs were very difficult to eat! We were dining outside when all of a sudden the fire alarm went off. We were instructed to bring our food inside and finish in there! No help from the wait staff and never once approached by the Manager to see if everything was okay. The dining experience was horrible! Our drinks of soda were watered down and the waitress did not have a lot of knowledge about the food here or try and offer any recommendations! She did offer to help me with the crab legs but at that point I felt as though I was being rushed! Then a boyfriend of one of the waitresses was there as if he worked there and making loud comments such as those people didn’t even leave a tip and then he put his butt in my face to clean a table and he sprayed the stuff while I was trying to eat my food! You should really offer great education to your staff to promote a unforgettable positive dining experience, not a negative one! We are from Charlotte NC and I loved dining at JCS but it went out of business! If the one in MB doesn’t improve, it too will be closed! I am writing all of this in hopes of improvement! The staff choices can really run down a restaurant! I would like a refund for our terrible experience! Thank you!

I have never worked for such a unprofessional company in my entire life. I can go on and on about complaining about how crappy this company is but there is ONE moment I can remember that DISTURBED me the most. I came into work one Sunday to do my job and serve. But within minutes I had learned that there was a “Make a Wish” Child coming to our restaurant, which I thought was amazing, because it is my passion to help people. But OBVIOUSLY this is not the case with Joe’s Crab Shack. The make a wish foundation called our store an hour before their reservation. Only to be told that there was no record of their reservation. This made me a little upset, wouldn’t it make you a little upset? I also later learned that our store had done NOTHING in preparation for this event. The Make A Wish foundation had even specifically asked our GM to make sure this was a great event. But of course, she failed to do that, just like she fails to do anything at the restaurant! So a server who I will keep anon, took the extra mile and called some people to get some gifts and decorations for the child and their family coming in for their very special event! The server went above and beyond to do something for this family and the child and she isn’t the kind of person to want a reward or recognition of her amazing efforts to make this families and child’s best day ever, but none of the managers ever said thank you to her, not even our GM. The server took money out of HER POCKET to give to someone! And all the restaurant could do was discount an appetizer for the family and friends…..Now obviously I am not asking for the full price discounted or even a discount for that matter… But I am just mad at the fact the restaurant LITERALLY DID NOTHING FOR THIS FAMILY!!!! ITS FOR MAKE A WISH!!!!!! And even after the fact the GM did seem to care that she messed up this special day and didn’t care that HER EMPLOYEE went the extra mile to SAVE HER BUTT!!!!!! She didn’t even thank the server. There are a million more complaints I can leave here, but it is truly not worth it. Joe’s Crab Shack, does nothing about anything. Needless to say, I have since then left the company and now work for a much more professional problem solving company that cares about not only their costumers, but THEIR EMPLOYEES too!

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my entire life!!! Seafood is one of the easiest things to cook yet the chef at the louisville store apparently doesn’t know what salt and pepper is. Lobster can be boiled and it doesnt rake long at all but yet My lobster was chewy and disgusting. Is the chef there even a chef or is he just microwaving all the food?? I am a chef who has worked in fine dining for the past 3 years and and afterm eating here realized why people never tell me to go to Joe’s for seafood!!! I want my money back because it was a rip off!!! $100?? I want a full refund because I feel like I was just hustled out of my money. The meal I ate was worth $30 TOPS!!! I will never ever ever ever recommend this place because the food was so terrible!!! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!
Destin, FL says
My friend and I visited the Destin, Fl location on last evening. We were anxiously anticipatory, as it was our first visit. As we waited in line behind a party of three ladies, a red flag went immediately up when the hostess told them that there would be a thirty-five minute wait and that a party of sixty would be coming in later, so they should expect the kitchen to become backed up. After hearing that, these ladies made the wise decision to leave. We were met with the same proclamation from Jenny, who presented it in a manner as if she was hopeful that we’d also decide to leave. I said as much to her, and she made a thinly veiled attempt to “put lipstick on a pig” by saying she just wanted to make us aware. Nevertheless, we digressed and decided to wait at the bar until our table was ready. The experience at the bar was yet again a display of unprofessionalism and inattentiveness. We sat there for approximately ten minutes before even being greeted by the bartender, who we would later learn was named Chris. He made a valiant effort to educate us on what he felt were the better choices for drinks. Once we gave him our orders he merely went to what looked like the equivalent of a drink “trough” and poured our drinks from a spout. The presentation was lackluster and each drink did not taste worthy of the nine dollars that they cost. Additionally, there may need to be some bartending training provided to Chris, as he wasted a great deal of product (liquor). The entire time I watched him make drinks, he did so sans any measuring instruments to ration the liquor out in a equally distributive manner. I might also mention that Chris put his bare fingers on the rims of glasses when retrieving them from the overhead to make drinks. In the two hours that we were in your establishment, Chris broke at least two glasses. That can’t be good for overhead. I also witnessed an interaction between Chris and a server (whose name I didn’t get) when she attempted to go behind the bar to get menus. He promptly stopped her and told her that she couldn’t come back there. Clearly, the server was put off, however this was confirmed to me when she looked at me and said, “do you see this p**** a** n*****”? I was completely taken aback by this and frankly a little stunted that she said it to me. A customer. I’d like to take this time to mention that during my observation of my surroundings I witnessed servers drinking what appeared to be alcoholic beverages in the area where the tea is situated. While I can’t confirm this with 100% certainty, their behavior was indicative of it. Eventually we were summoned that our table was ready and we were led to it by a very pregnant hostess (name unknown) who was not very welcoming. If there was going to be one redemptive measure in our JCS experience, I was hopeful that it would be our server. Brittney was our server and initially she was okay, but by the time that she came with the checks and asked if we would complete a survey, she saw my obvious disdain and became curt and almost rude. The one saving grace of the entire evening was the food. Simply put, it was good. Unfortunately, in the restaurant realm, good food isn’t enough. If the atmosphere and the service isn’t aligned with the taste of good food, the negative will precede as well as supersede the positive. That is exactly what my friend and I experienced during our visit to your Destin, Fl location. The experience was impressionable enough for both of us to confidently say that we won’t ever go to that location again. This location’s reviews on Google are wrought with others who’ve had unpleasant experiences. I would strongly recommend that the corporation look into taking much needed action into improving the service at this location. Lastly, my exasperation was manifested when exiting the building, we found that there was little to no light to guide customers. Additionally, one of the two railings was very shaky and a hazard in itself.

**My feedback is in response to the “Disappointment” that I sent on 4/19/215. I wanted to express my appreciation of the immediate contact that was made to me by the GM for the Destin location, Debbie Gallegoss. She contacted me back the same evening that I lodged my complaint. While I was unable to speak with her at that time, she graciously offered me her cell phone number and said that I could contact her back on her cell the next day, as it was her day off. Debbie asked that I verbalize to her the events that were included in my original feedback. She listened attentively and expressed empathy towards the situation that was experienced. She apologized and thanked me for advising of the service that was received. As a consumer, I sincerely appreciated Debbie’s prompt response as well as her desire to have areas of challenges identified so that the necessary actions are taken to correct them. She also generously offered to cover the expense of my next visit to the Destin location in spite of my adamant declaration of no desire to go there again.
I thought it important to let it be known that my original complaint appears not to have fallen on deaf ears. Debbie appears to be vested in the Destin location providing stellar service. I’m confident that this will be accomplished with her leadership and guidance.

I can tell you that they are on their 3rd GM since Debbie’s departure. The running joke of the restaurant is that if any time you need a manager you never have far to look. Just go to the office. They do ZERO proper safety and sanitation controls. Rather than, prior to each shift, taste the product, conduct proper temp checks, etc. they throw the clipboard to any randomn line cook and have them do it. I personally witnessed a manager instruct an employee to take bacon wrapped shrimp that expired 2 days before and place it in a current day bag so if the Health Dept came in they wld think the product was still good. They consistantly do this to reduce their food costs. There was absolutely no way I cld be associated with a company that placed dollars over the health and welfare of seniors, children and those with weaken immune systems. Their crawfish is farm raised from Egypt…SWEAR TO GOD! If the Okaloosa County Code Enforcement ever went under that building they wld condemn it within 30sec. The flooring is literally collapsing. I’ve been forced to work in ankle deep sewage on more than one occassion in the food prep area. Someone seriously needs to conduct an undercover expose on this place and their actions for all to see.

Who hires a GM that can’t really do their job.. It’s all about Debbie staying a float to make herself look good. When the front is not completely ready she is in the office on her phone or Ipad hiding , all through the morning and afternoon..as far as the restarunt itself and it’s ready preparedness this woman never get on the line and helps her staff because of lack of knowledge on preparing menu items .. Again what company hires GM that lacks disaster-preparedness qualities.. Joe’s has went through so many different managers and staff since my past and present observations of working with this company. Most Corporate Personnel Don’t Know what is going on in their Destin, Florida Location. Employees don’t last long because of how the store is ran behind hidden eyes..

So just got off work and headed to crab shack with the family and heard they had two dollar appetizer and also advertised for 2 dollars drinks. They refused to serve us any drinks though and when I asked the manager why they advertised at my table for the drinks she told me that I had to be at the bar area to take get a drink special. But I don’t understand I’m with my wife and our 4 year old and told me that they could not give me a drink special cause it’s not allowed on the main floor my family would have to move to the bar area. I had a hard day at work just don’t see why I could not get a drink special at my table with my family the manerger Chelsea Davis was a rude and very much didn’t give a sh*t so I refuse to eat here
Christmas Advocate says
The Corporate Office at JOES CRAB SHACK has decided that this year JOE’S will be DISRESPECFUL to their employee’s.They are FORCING THEM TO WORK CHRISTMAS DAY and apparently THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANY ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR WORKING those HOLIDAY HOURS – NOT THAT,THAT WOULD JUSTIFY SUCH DISRESPECT. Corporate also known as IGNITE RESTAURANT GROUP have become THEIVES AND RAPIST. They stole the 1 DAY they gave to EMPLOYEES out of 365 and RAPED THEM out of the opportunity to spend time with their FAMILY.
Joe’s Crab Shack wants to be known as a ‘ FAMILY ‘ restaurant – if that is the case then JOE’S should lead by example and CLOSE THEIR DOORS in obsurance of CHRISTMAS DAY – ALL DAY! After their current decision I see them as A GREEDY RESTAURANT!!!!
They are NOT a business of NECESSITY- Hospitals – Hospice – Nursing Facilities – Fire – Police and EMT’s – these are BUSINESS’ OF NECESSITY.
I have Intentionally neglected to specify a restaurant or location. The CORPORATE FOLKS of these establishments would surely have NO PROBLEM RETALIATING – after all-they’ve shown their Appreciation to their Employee’s so vividally by RAPING THEM OF THEIR HOLIDAY – firing any of them would no-doubt produce a corporate organsm.
Corporate may think they have been generous by not opening until 4PM on Christmas Day, but in some house holds the FAMILY MEAL CELEBRATION does not began until that time of the day. Those Gatherings of ‘ Christmas Traditation ‘ are usually in the homes of Grandparents or Parents. Because of Corporate Choice, these Employees will not have Christmas this year or any other – as long as they work @ Joe’s Crab Shack. In some cases where Money is Limited – this one ‘ Gathering and Meal of Celebration ‘ is CHRISTMAS.
CORPORATE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE-THE INSIGNIFICATE YOU AND I’S OF THE WORLD.THEY WILL NEVER GIVE THEM A THOUGHT AS THEY GATHER WITH THEIR FAMILIES ON CHRISTMAS DAY- ALL DAY.
*** ONE DAY: 24 hours – the insignificate: the backbone of the company – the spine of their existence. Are they so Greedy that they can’t grant them Christmas Day – 24 hours***
or is the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR so much more important?
To the folks on the Corporate Level I would hope that you would RETRACT THIS DEMAND for ALL EMPLOYEES wherever they are and Show your Appreciation to them for the hard work and loyality they have shown over the year.
For those of us in the general public:WE’RE MORE LIKELY TO FREQUENT THOSE EXTABLISHMENTS IN THE COMING YEAR THAT HONOR THEIR EMPLOYEES AND CHRISTMAS DAY.
Why would I bother to help you prosper when you’re MEAN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES – I wouldn’t….I’d go out of my way to do just the opposite.

A couple night ago my family and i were at joes in colorado springs. Daisy was ou r waitress a couple nights ago and I must say that I have never had a waitress so lazy rude and unhygienic as she was. She had made our family experience at joes an extremely uncomfortable and we will never return due to this. Let me get started by saying that we have a 4 year old son and daisy the waitress had been cursing while talking to us as if it was a fluent language from her. She smelted horrible and was dressed completely inappropiate in clothes that do not fit her body type. We were offended most of all by her language especially around our son!! Who talks like that! Next our food was ordered and after we gave her our order it was like she had diapered another server brought our food to us and kept checking on us as she never came back. Then we heard this yelling comING from the back where we saw our waitress daisy yelling at other servers calling then XXXXXXes and other names. We could hear it through the resturaunt extremely uncomfortable and very unprofessional we felt bad for the coworkers. We were embarrassed to even have her as our server. Because of this my family and I will never return to joes.

I was at Joe’s Crab Shack Thursday October 2 nd. The new bronx location. Worst experience of my life. I was with my 8 year old daughter. We ordered 2 very simple meals. One off the kid menus. Took over an hr to get our food and when I got my food was ice cold and my shrimp were raw. When I say raw they were gray. I actually picked one up to show everybody in the place. Waitress never came over to ask if me needed a refill or if we were ok. Just the absolute worst experience. I had to walk out. Disgusting food. Disgusting customer service.

Mr. Michael Dixon:
I made a reservation a few days in advance for my wife’s 65th birthday party, not so much that we needed the reservation due to time but rather they would help us make a spectacle of her and have a fun singing and dancing time, and I heard Joe’s was the place for this style evening, so when I made the reservation they assured me we they would be all over us with outrageous entertainment So on August 27th my wife’s b-day, we were running a little early so I thought I would phone ahead and move up the reservation a half hour sooner. So this is where the nightmare starts, they had no record of our reservation, so I asked how can you not have wrote it in the book, after much checking apology’s were offered and I again went through the whole, it’s my wife’s 65th b-day and we wanted the royal treatment, they reassured me they would go out of their way to make this happen, I said great we would compensate them greatly when the tip was issued. So we were seated we looked over the menu, the waitress came over took our order for appetizers and drinks, within 5 minutes the non-alcoholic drinks came and the waitresses said the others drinks would follow shortly. There were literally 4 tables occupied and 3 people sitting at the bar total, this is a Wednesday night. So after about 10 minutes a asked what’s up with the other drinks, she said well they were a little behind and they would be out shortly, and she joked plus you ordered a Hurricane, which is nothing other than a few more items in a XXXXtail glass, I said O.K., well the appetizers came, I was about to start getting on the waitresses again but the drinks finally made it, again after the appetizers. We ordered our entrees at this point, and the appetizers were great. So the entrees came, the server spilled one of the dipping sauces all over my fries, he said he would get me a new order of fries, I said great. I had ordered one of your new platters with lobster bites, stuffed shrimp, fries and slaw. When asked how everything was, I said fine, can you please bring me some XXXXtail sauce for my shrimp, she said sure. So I ate my fries most of the lobster bites and still no XXXXtail sauce, so I called her over again, she apologized and said it would be right over; I waited another 10 minutes, at which point my shrimp was cold, so I asked if she could please warm them up, again because I didn’t get the XXXXtail sauce, so she did warm them up, which I thought was a little funny because I had dripped some white sauce on one of the shrimp and re heating would effect the quality of the shrimp, but I said what ever at this point, lets just get on with it, so nothing happening at all as far as any celebratory action yet, I told the party don’t worry it’s coming and it’ll be lots of fun. So more drinks were ordered and when the waitress set down one of the drinks she knocked over a dish of butter all over the table, these things happen but at this point my patients were wearing real thin. So 1 of the people in my party said what about the celebration and singing and such, because we had pretty much finished dinner, I said it would probably come when deserts were ordered, they said fine, again pretty much empty restaurant and I hadn’t heard any outrageous singing or laughter or anything anywhere in the restaurant, but again I’m still waiting for the shoe to drop, so the waitress came over asked if we wanted any key lime pie or any deserts or should she bring the check, I said no please bring the check. It was over fifty dollars a person which isn’t a terribly a lot but given the cirXXXXstances, was way off when given the evening plans promised for my wife’s 65th b-day. The waitress said she felt bad about the XXXXtail sauce incident so she gave a free appetizer, a slap in the face basically. So fun memories were missing, celebrating non existent, and I what I feel was less than average night, NOT ONE OF THE WAIT STAFF even had the common courtesy to say HAPPY birthday to my wife, sad sad sad. It was 8/27/14 reservation was for Kozitza at 6:30pm waitress was Leah I believe, please call for additional details Keith Wallish 651-765-XXXXx XXXX@q.com. Thanx: Keith

Many times, my wife and I travel 60 miles one way from Elkhart, IN to Merriville, IN to enjoy a delicious crab meal. I’ve heard rumors and would like to verify or perhaps request that you consider locating a Joe’s Crab Shack in South Bend, IN. Perhaps you would consider doing some investigating on the newly investments made in South Bend because of it’s growing attendance from the college and Notre Dame games. Demographically, it’s way to far to Merriville or Indianapolis to enjoy a night out at such a great eating establishment. Red Lobster just doesn’t fill the bill when we want to enjoy a good seafood dinner. Thank you for your consideration. Please advise as to any future plans in our area.

My bank paid me back the difference because my bank is honset unlike Joe’s. They never even carded my daughter and her boyfriend, she looks 15. She is 27. They do not care about there customers. I will never eat there again . they have lost my business and all my friends.
