We hired HLC KOP,PA to help our daughter with her SAT. The plan was help achieve her score goal . they made it sound like it is achievable with their curriculum .she took assessment test to see where she is , what she needs help with to customize the course based on her needs and told them she took test before and studied for test but she needs help in some areas– sounds good ,right! Most tutors do 2 hours a week , they said 4 hours a week !!! which is out of the norm given also that she had studied and had tutor before ( so we are not starting from scratch to need 4 hours a week )we agreed on 3 hours a week which was too much .We started course , they went over basic stuff and moving very slow and going over material for someone just started to study for SAT for first time. I expressed my concerns to center , they said they will reach out to teachers ,few weeks later –that didn’t change and did not resolve issue !! They continued at same base. Throughout the course , I expressed my concerns and my disappointment about the progress many times and that my daughter is not happy and frustrated – same reply every time .we will address with teachers. My daughter lost her confidence and felt it was all on her which caused her a nervous breakdown – can’t express how much pain that caused and affected her performance.3 weeks before 8/28/21 test date , I expressed my concerns that they have not finished the materials and she is still learning new materials – they were half way . I said she should be using the time now for review , taking practice test and get ready for her final SAT exam (8/28 is the last test she is taking) Natalie told me she will talk to teachers.the week of the test.they didn’t finish all materials AND didn’t do the proper review to get her ready for test .i told Natalie how is it possible to have my daughter take the test and go to the test without covering all materials and without review.no action was taken at this point My daughter took the test. she was in very stressful mode going to test knowing that without full review , knowing that a lot of questions in test were not covered. imagine you as an adult not as 17 years old how would you feel going to take a test that will determine your future and the college you go to. We got the results back ,her score went up by 30 POINTS , yes 30 points !I paid $4k for 30 points which she could have easily done by herself . I would have saved the money &lack of confidence this process caused to her self-steam ! now she can’t submit her score to the college of her dream .now she lost hope of getting where she wanted to go – basically ruined her future!
A lot of promises and by I time I realized this was not the right decision and that this was not the right place , it was too late to switch since it was paid in advance. I reached out to Natalie again &complained about the process & the results & damage they caused – reply is so sorry you were not happy – After going back and forth , the owner called me . He listened to all my concerns then he said , I’m not an educator ,this is a business I’m running – we are franchise business and we give same steps to each student and we don’t modify course ( one size fits all ) I said but that is not what I was told by Natalie and so what was the reason of the assessment test you give out in the beginning , isn’t that to see where the student needs help with !! yeah but we have to go through material regard less I said this is the first time I heard this and we were never told that . He is like we can’t customize for each student . He seems nice in the beginning of the call then he was very very rude. He said teachers attended the class and did what they were told to do – so it is all about checking the box basically. He kept saying well we provided the classes then hung up on me !!!Not professional at all , not caring about students , not caring about my concerns or not even thinking for a second may be we are doing something wrong. All about business and bottom numbers and get more people – this is my worst nightmare and I hope no parent or student go through what we have been through

My daughter took SAT prep classes last summer and fall at Exton, PA HLC. We were told we had to pay for a certain number of recommended classes but we’re assured that we could receive a refund if my daughter did not use them all. When my daughter did not use all the classes and we requested the refund, we were told we could not get a refund. I have emailed and called the Exton HLC numerous times about the status of my refund. I was told initially that I would receive it soon, but I never received it and now they have stopped responding to me.

My Granddaughter was contracted, with Tuition Solutions, for $7600, with Huntington Learning Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. McKnight Road, on December, 2017. The original contract was to be paid out over 18 months, ending when the student would finish eight grade. I have been paying $340 each month to Tuition Solutions since 12/2017. I was recently told, by the Director, Peggy Holmes, when I had contacted her a month ago to see how my Granddaughter was doing, that my granddaughter had used up all her hours of tutoring, in Aug. of 2018, and was no longer eligible for any further hours of tutoring; I was confused, since it had only been 9 months, into the contract. Miss Holmes informed me that she had discussed the poor progress the student had been having with her Mother, and they had decided to increase her hours thru the summer months, July through August, thus using up all the hours and money available. Then Miss Holmes told me, that she had suggested my daughter, sign for more time to get her caught up in her 8th grade studies. Miss Holmes stated Angela, my daughter, had signed a contract to allow the student to continue her tutoring; however, Miss Holmes told me that Angela had never paid for these extra tutoring hours, and discontinued service in December of 1018. I had asked why I had not been consulted in this matter, since I was making payments on the original loan; Miss Holmes stated she was sorry and should have done that; however, that did not change the fact of non payment of the loan by my daughter. I requested an itemized statement for all the tutoring hours, dates and times and tutor names, to be mailed to me. Miss Holmes stated she would have this done and perhaps, she would be able to discuss the matter of the other loan, and see if Huntington Corporate office would consider “knocking” some of the amount off, and she would call me in a few days. That has been about 2 months, and no response. I let it go, thinking she was busy at work. I had spoken with my daughter regarding the loan and her non payments; Angela told me she had not signed for another loan amount, knowing she would not be able to pay the loan, that was why I taken the original loan out in the first place; she had only signed for additional hours for tutoring, thinking it was coming out of the loan I had signed for. Also, she has never received a bill from anyone, especially not Huntington Learning Center. I have tried to contact Peggy Holms by phone, several times, have left several detailed messages, asking he to call me; left message with a tutor, Alex, for her to call me back, and he had promised she would call me right back; that was 3 days ago. I expect I will have to go to the office, but I will probably run into trouble trying to see her, even if she is there, not knowing her hours. I just want some answers and get to the bottom of all this. Very confused and disappointed. My Granddaughter had loved going to her tutoring. I am confused. Plus I have paid for 18 months of tutoring hours, via the plan laid out by Miss Holms, and I feel like I have been duped and frauded out of my money and tutoring hours. Please be honorable and live up to your reputation. Please help me. Thank You. Barbara Nicotra 412-877-XXXX email: dustmitey@ yahoo.com.

I am a retired NYC Literacy Specialist.I spent 35 years teaching, researching and learning about language development. I have a concept for a product that would be very lucrative and improve reading scores or any scores locally or world wide. If you are interested can I meet with someone in the NYC area? This could be as large as Face Book but highly desired by parents, school systems, Apple, Microsoft, Verizon, etc.,and ultimately government, employers, colleges, who benefit from an educated work force. Guaranteed to raise scores. 🙂

    Thank you,

Hi! My son attended your center at the Westlake Village, California. Your center closed early this year without notifying us that they were closing. Can somebody from your corporate office please call me about this. It is just bad consumer practice and I would like to be able to give you feedback on what happened so you can avoid any similar occurrence or hopefully, address our concerns. This reflects badly on your company and should be dealt with expeditiously. Please email me and I will provide you with a contact number.
    Thank you.

    Hi,

My 10-year-old child Isabella Pacia is registered (until today) in your program at the Scarsdale location. Tonight after soccer practice she was not too enthusiastic to go to Huntington. I finally convinced her to go inside and one of your employees at the desk (Tara) began talking to her. While this was happening a lady stormed out of her office and grabbed my child by both shoulders and said the following words in a stern voice. “This is not debatable, we are not going to baby you here, you walk in and go directly inside the room for your lesson. You are not going to be here for too long. While she was saying this she had her both hands on my daughter’s shoulder and practically pushed her into the lesson room. I sat down in shock and decided to go in the room and find my daughter. I found her sitting down by herself in tears so I decided to take her home. I would like to report your employee Dominic Matabele for her very inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. Before we left, we had an argument. I was expecting she would apologize for her behavior, but she did not,
We have been bringing our children to your center for a long time and we were very happy with all the staff and your program.

Due to this disturbing incident, we have decided to stop sending our children to Huntington and we request a complete re reimbursement of the fees.

I clarified to her that my children attend Edgemont Schools (rated one of the best in the country) and my children and well behaved and have excellent manners and were not used to be treated this way to what she replied she had a masters degree.

On your website you have a review from a parent that says:
“Huntington has completely changed how my daughter felt about school. It really was the best call I’ve ever made!”
What happened today made me feel it was the worst call I ever made!

Looking forward to your prompt reply.

    Respectfully,

    Yasmin Pacia

My daughter is attending one of your learning centers in bayside queens. She is there for preparation for SATs.

For some reason or another every other week they are changing her schedule because this teacher or that teacher is unavailable. I understand things happen but not to have a backup teacher is not the way to do business. I paid almost $7000 in advance and I expect my daughter to get what I paid for.

I would appreciate a call back at 917-842-XXXXX to tell me how this problem is going to be corrected

    Thank you,
