Hersheypark, originally spelled Hershey Park until about 1970, was founded in May of 1906 by Milton Hershey as a place for Hershey factory workers to enjoy the outdoors. Its first summer in operation, the park had Memorial Day celebrations, bands, baseball games, and other events. The very first ride was introduced in 1908; a Merry Go Round. In 1910, the park added a miniature railroad, and in 1923, the park added its first roller coaster, The WildCat.
Today, the park has more than 75 rides, 13 roller coasters, and 16 water rides. Hersheypark receives approximately 3.2 million visitors each year. The park is open Easter weekend through September, Halloween, and Christmas day.
The theme park recently came under fire in July 2019, after an attempted child abduction at the park was discounted by employees, who were reluctant to call security and security refused to contact local police.
The park is privately owned by Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company. Hersheypark opened their newest attraction in 2007, Boardwalk, which features water rides such as Canyon River Rapids and Tidal Force.

Good Morning,
With the summer coming to a close and the school year about to begin our family decided to squeeze in one last quick getaway and everyone’s first choice was Hershey Park, specifically we arrived on Monday, 8/29, and Tuesday, 8/30.
Hershey holds so many wonderful memories for our family to say that my children were excited was an understatement.
On Monday, we enjoyed a long morning of spectacular attractions and at approximately 1:30 pm we decided to ride the coal cracker, a family favorite.
The ride is always guaranteed fun and the perfect way to cool off on what was an extremely warm day.
When it was time to disembark the ride my 12-year-old daughter who is approximately 5”4” and 119lbs was unable to exit the ride. Her leg was stuck in the vehicle of the ride, the vehicle which is made to look like a boat. Her left leg had become wedged in the front of the boat and she was unable to pull it out.
She tried and after many unsuccessful attempts and her becoming increasingly scared and upset, I had to physically help her to remove her leg. Her leg had become so wedged so far in the ride that I had to pop a cushioned panel in the front of the boat.
I am extremely disappointed to say that both ride attendants did not even try to help her, or much less ask if we needed assistance. They basically stood there, they didn’t even ask if she was ok. I found this extremely disheartening and substandard for Hershey.
After what felt like hours we were finally able to dislodge her leg. The area above her knew was almost immediately red, already starting to swell and had become black and blue. I have attached photos. We went to first aid where we reported the incident. They provided us with an ice pack and aspirin and they noted the incident.
After our visit to first aid my daughter stated she was in pain when standing still and as a result we left the park earlier than anticipated.
On Tuesday, we returned to the park. Where my daughter expressed she was experiencing pain once again especially when standing still. We again went to first aid where it was once again reported and recorded. The EMT at first aid told us that people tend to always get stuck on that ride. I was shocked, How is that acceptable? Much less it is completely irresponsible on Hershey part.
Our visit to the park on Tuesday would also be a shorter one than expected.
I am disappointed that this could even happen and I am concerned about the safety of the ride. I would not want this to happen to any other family.
Hershey is the ideal family place and vacation. I don’t feel like our situation was handled properly and I am extremely disheartened. I am so upset about how we were treated and that noone seemed to actually care.
I tried calling the number listed on the Hershey website and experienced longer than 45 minutes in wait time I actually gave up and I even emailed using the contact form on the website provided, as of today I have not heard from anyone.
Our family has vacationed at Hershey many, many times over the years, this experience and the subsequent handling of the situation has left my family and I very disheartened. To say our visit was a disappointment is an understatement.
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with me please feel free to use the email or phone number below
Thank you for your time.

I have purchase tickets for my Nephews Birthday who turned 21. I wanted him to have a great time & just have clean fun., He had study hard & got a 3.8 & made the Deans list. I tried to contact Hershey Park on all the phone # you have listed on the internet. The 717-534-3900 & others phone #. It is sad when you are on hold for over 30 minutes & still can’t get a live person. I been calling for 3 days. Many people called & can’t get anyone to speak to directly. It is very very sad & it is not expectable for a famous park. It is not professional & you would have more business if we had someone to answer are questions. It really looks bad that the CEO might not be aware of this. I would like William to call the 717-534-3900 & try to speak to someone about tickets. I would like to know what his thoughts are of being on hold for over 30 minutes or more, Then on your internet it indicates write your questions, really! It indicates we will get back to you in 48 hours. The CEO should make sure he gets a department set up that people can talk to a live person that can answer & help you right away. I know this park makes money & the CEO is very well taken care of. I would like to know your thoughts on this Mr. William F Simpson, I hope you care enough to help us out & address this. It would be nice to speak to a live person. Maybe you will say you don’t care but it is a huge issue. It looks bad for the entire Hershey Park PA to not be able to talk to anyone. I hope you understand & hope you see the frustration many of us have. Thank you & hope you can address this.

I purchased tickets for first time last year the end of march! Nobody knew what Covid was back then and how long will take to go away. Yes we learned how to live with it, but I failed to plan my visit. Tried to speak to a customer service and asked to honor my tickets with little extension due to our personal reasons. We were out of the country the whole summer and I was thinking to plan for fall. My grandma was in hospital for two months, then she died. After that nobody think about planning and going to have fun. Not me , not my 10 years son who start having some health issues too. How in the world nobody can honor unforeseen reasons as one time. I did not share everything with the representative but the cold unhelpful tone made me shocked! No Covid nothing can’t explain my situation. Yes the reasons are more but should I recall all bad moments that stopped me for planning going to Hershey park last year??Its unprofessional and such a bad first experience with that place that seemed worthy to visit. I am unable to purchase another tickets. I did spend $170 for this order and now dont think I would spend any cent more to go. You got my money and no service was provided how come nothing can change under any circumstances. Sad , not an first expression I want to have. Yes , I wont visit now, because I am unable to spend anymore money, due to financial situation but hopefully my money feels good to add to this giant business who don’t see their customers as human beings, only like payers. Thank you!!!!

I took my son to Hershey park yesterday. We went straight to the water park. Got on one slide and then the park closed due to weather. Well there wasn’t a dark cloud in the sky. About 15 minutes later, the water park re-opened. My son got on one more slide, then the park closed again while we were in line. The park closed at 6:00. Why would you even re-open?? We tried some of the dry rides. Trailblazer was closed. We got in line for the coal cracker, my son’s favorite ride. We got to the end of the line and was ready to sit in the little boats and they closed the ride!!! I tried to talk with guest services. They were rude and no help at all. My son sat on the bench and cried. We spent all that money and drove an hour to get to the park!!!! Does this sound like a fun experience!! All the rides were closed at that point except the bumper cars. Can you imagine if that was your family!! I asked for a refund or partial credit. I deserve something out of this!! Worst experience ever!! I wish I would’ve taken him somewhere else before he had t go back to school.

Hello, On behalf of Girl Scout Troop 951 from Holy Cross Church in Dover, Delaware, I would like to request a donation of a few tickets for our fund raiser or the girls to do their hardest selling! Your donation would be the prize of all prizes!
The girls will be doing a fund raiser by ‘flocking’ their family members and neighbors and friends. How will they flock them? By placing a large group of flamingos in their front yard, and to have them removed, a donation can be given! The girls love this sneaking up and surprising a household! The girls are Kindergarten, first, and second graders.
This is a very young troop and our cookie sales do not cover all of our costs. Parental and adult supervision is needed for all sales, and as a result; cookie sales are not very high. If you are not aware, the girls only get .30 to .40 cents per box sold. This doesn’t amount to much of a cash flow. When this troop does an activity, such an our recent educational one with the state for their insect badge, it costs the troop $6 per girl for $120 total. If the girls want to go to Killens Pond Water Park in Delaware this summer, it will cost (with a group discount $7 per girl for a $$140 total. Anyway you look at the numbers, it’s a hundred dollar per activity just to earn a badge!!!!!
We cannot say enough about the Girl Scout Program. If you recall in the news, a group went to a 9-11 center and learned all about emergencies. One of the little 5 year olds’ dad was having a heart attack, and the little girl who was alone with her daddy, knew just what to do to save his life! Scouting is fun yet educational.
Please consider helping out our troop by your donation of a few tickets; ideally 4 for the winning Girl Scout’s family- the one who sends back the most money by flocking. We really need your endorsement for our troop. I know this is asking a quick response, but we will need an anwser for this/our request for Tuesday, June 4,2020 which is when we will announce our fund raising grand prize!
Thank you for your time, effort, and consideration with these tickets/ donation.
Sincerely – the 4 Co-Leaders of Troop 951,
Marianne Rathbun, Kristen Holloway, Kathy Lessard, and Katie O’Brien

Good Afternoon,
My son currently works for the park. We have had issues with him being set up in the Chronos system, and now issues with the scheduling office. An email was sent to ecscheduling@ hersheypa.com per your representative Candice. I can forward the information to another individual if needed. I want to make sure he receives a resolution that doesn’t negatively affect him.
In short he was unable to request off for a weekend trip we have had planned for months as his online access wasn’t ready. He called the office, received a confirmation email that the request was approved, but he was scheduled for one of the days he should have been off. I was told over the phone that nothing could be done, despite the email confirmation.
Please have someone contact me who can help assist with this matter.

We visited hersheypark over the summer. We had a horrible experience as well. Waited forever in the lines, some rides were closed. One ride my daughter went on took off so fast it slammed her against the ? seat and it hurt her back. She is still complaining to this day of her back. Food was horrible and very expensive. We stayed at the Hershey Lodge. We couldn’t even enjoy the pool as it was way too crowded. Our hotel room was so hot. We complained but it wasn’t fixed. Waiting for a restaurant there at the hotel was ridiculous. We drove 41/2 hours for what? We spent a fortune for what?

We were rained out, and not given vouchers to return! I posted on your Facebook page with photos or proof that the rides closed for 60mins. Your employees Kellie and Austin at guests services informed everyone that the parked closed at 330 ant at 439 several rides were still closed and no one was allowed into the park. I don’t live around the corner I spent way over 200 in tickets alone. It states in your policy that a return vouchers is to be given. Or you can instate whatever policy you feel fit to help Hershey park gain?!?!? They were over 100 people on line waiting for answers and not 1 manager came to give any kind of detail, but we are not giving any vouchers. I take my children here every year, I will no longer visit and will also let the parent association their school of what happen and let them know we shouldn’t be selling Hershey park tickets any longer!!

On Saturday April 15, 2017. I drove 4 hours to get to your park to meet my girlfriend where she lives in your community. started to be a beautiful day to spend at Hershey Park. paid $71.60 to enter your park to wait on lines to rides that didn’t work and be told after waiting so long that they were closing the rides. its a disgrace, how is it possible that you complain to your staff and asked for assistant to where i could send a written complaint and no one knows to whom or where. I come from New York that is so huge and once a complaint is issued one of the managers or supervisors are right on it. my ticket numbers are as follows 1715002920040558 & 1715002920040559. what a wasted time and drive. I feel you must have gotten tons of complaints. I feel that at least that i get compliment return tickets for a day. As a kid my parents took my brother and I tons of times spending a fews day at the hotel. i remembering how great your staff and workers were. Cant believe the difference in the pass few years. I would love a respond to my complaint.
Thank you in advance and I can be reached at 347-461-XXXXX or 718-848-XXXXX.

On September 17th 2016 we drove through the entrance to the park along with hundreds of other cars unaware that we were going to be struck in a massive gridlock for almost 2 hours just to be told there was no more parking. Why would you allow your staff to continue to collect the $15 parking fee if the lots were full? Is you company that greedy that you can’t have the common decency to let people know your lots are full? It just makes no sense that with all the technologies we have in the world today that you have no system to let the parking staff know that the lots are full. It is just unbelievable. Two hours we sat trapped going nowhere and staff having nothing to say and your greedy company still taking our money such a joke. Please…your next few Starbucks Coffees think of me…

On June 25 2016 I took my family to Hershey park for my sons 8th birthday. The day was going great until the very end.
Me and my two year old son went to ride the DEADLY FALCON…I asked the ride operator Benjamin if I can ride with my son he said yes and pointed me to where an empty cart was. I then put my son in and then I stepped up to get in but as soon as I put my leg in the door closes on my leg…now the ride is getting ready to start!!! I’m screaming but nobody hears me. And the door is squeezing shut on my leg my two year old son is already in with no seat belt on. I manage to snatch my leg out and grab my son and run to the rail. Me and my son are still trapped inside where the ride is now going. They started the ride with us inside the rail. Now this ride is coming at us full force!! Can you imagine?? Can you imagine how terrifying that was?? I had to throw my son over the rail and then jump over. Benjamin and Alejandro were the operator’s. I reported them to customer service and rides supervisor offered me free meal voucher’s…. I almost died and you offer me free food. Then she offered me comeback tickets. I still don’t feel like that was enough. My life is worth more than that. That was the most horrific experience in my life and I will never forget it. I will never get on another amusement park ride for the rest of my life. I’m going public with this story I want everyone to know that these people that we trust with our lives are FLAWED…STOP TRUSTING THESE CHILDREN TO OPERATE THE RIDES PROPERLY BECAUSE THEY ARE HUMAN AND HUMANS MAKE MISTAKES..BUT THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ERROR IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS… ME AND MY SON COULD’VE GOT KILLED DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. I am going to tell this story to anyone that listens.. This will not get sweeper under the rug….Thanks Hershey for my unforgettable traumatizing experience
