MWI Veterinary Supply Corporate Office

MWI Veterinary Supply was founded by Millard Wallace Ickes in 1976 as MWI Holdings.

In 2011 MWI acquired Nelson Laboratories Limited Partnership.

Today the company distributes veterinary supplies such as diagnostics, drugs, equipment, and medical supplies for animals, including pets and livestock. MWI distributes 41,000 products through more than 700 vendors.

In addition, MWI Veterinary Supply also offers pet food and nutritional supplies.

AmerisourceBergen, a pharmaceutical distributor, acquired the company in January of 2015 in a $2.5 billion deal. AmerisourceBergen bought MWI to expand its animal health business.

Henry Boney and his family founded Henry’s Farmers Market when they bought a truckload of peaches in 1943 and sold them on the street in San Diego. The chain had grown into 23 stores when it was bought by Wild Oats Market, which was then acquired by Whole Foods Market.

Sprouts is #2 in the natural organic retail market, after Whole Foods.
