UpStart is an AI lending platform created and operated by ex-Google employees, former President of Enterprise Giigke, Paul Gu, and Anna Counselman, former Manager of Global Enterprise Customer Programs and Gmail Consumer Operations at Google.

The company first launched in April 2012 with an Income Share Agreement offering, which enabled individuals to raise money by contracting to share a percentage of their future income.

In May 2014, Upstart pivoted away from this product and more towards personal loans. With this Change, Upstart began offering a traditional 3-year loan and has since expanded to offer a 5-year loan product as well.

In late 2020, Upstart went public on the NASDAQ under the symbol: UPST.

Unfortunately, due to rising inflation, Upstart has experienced falling stock numbers in 2022.

In January 2023, UpStart was forced to lay off 365 employees due to a lack of funding.

Bellacino’s Pizza & Grinders Corporate Office

Joe Mancino’s grandparents used to sell large subway sandwiches to the sailors in port during WWI. The Mancino’s eventually opened a location where they could make their own pizzas and sandwiches, which came to be called grinders.

Today, the company operates a franchise. There are currently more than 70 Bellacino’s pizza restaurants around the country.

All Bellacino’s recipes for pizza and grinders were established by Samual Mancino, Sr., in the 1950s.

Bellacino’s states that they bake their pizza dough and bread for the grinders fresh every morning.

Some locations are adding outdoor dining areas to deal with the aftermath of Covid and improve the overall dining experience.

New locations are still opening, despite the problems Covid has caused.

In June 2022, the company announced that it was moving some workers out of the Hartford Plaza building. It is unknown if the company plans to change its headquarters location or if the company is reorganizing the staff.

Also in 2022, the company took the #1 spot on the JD Powers survey regarding customer satisfaction with auto insurance policies.

The company connects teachers, schools, and families through communication methods. It also enables teachers to note feedback on students’ skills and creates a portfolio for students, so that families can be aware of school activities outside of meeting with teachers.

This app is used by at least 95 percent of pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade teachers and students,s according to Dojo.

NPR suffered an almost fatal setback in 1983 when efforts to expand services created a deficit of nearly $7 million (equivalent to $19 million in 2022 dollars).

After a Congressional investigation and the resignation of NPR’s then-president Frank Mankiewicz, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting agreed to lend the network money in order to stave off bankruptcy.

NPR also has a mobile phone app where clients can view current news stories.

In December 2018, The Washington Post reported that between 20 and 22 percent of NPR staff was classified as temporary, while this compares to about five percent of a typical for-profit television station.

Some of the temporary staff members told the newspaper the system was “exploitative”, but NPR’s president of operations said the current system was in place because the station is a “media company that strives to be innovative and nimble.”

In February 2023, NPR announced that it would lay off about 100 employees due to decreased revenue.
