Conde Montrose Nast, a New York City publisher, purchased Vogue magazine in 1909. He had purchased the magazine earlier and believed that it had great possibilities. Nast continued to publish Vogue under the Vogue name until he incorporated the Conde Nast name in 1923.

vogue cover 1909 Nast had a flair for creating interesting stories for women and the magazine soon became the number one source regarding fashion. Nast began expanding his magazine empire, creating House and Garden and Vanity Fair. The first full-color photograph on the cover of Vogue, rather than drawings, was published in 1932. It was innovative, at the time, but required Nast to build his own printing shop.

Magazines published by the company include Allure, Wired, Architectural Digest, Vogue, Ars Technica, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Backchannel, Teen Vogue, Bon Appetit, Self, Conde Nast Traveller, Pitchfork, GQ, Glamour, and Epicurious.

Conde Nast has discontinued many magazines due to lack of readership over the years including Modern Bride, Men’s Vogue, Golf for Women, Golf Digest, Mademoiselle,  Vogue Living, and Jane.

Gobble Corporate Office

Gobble logo

While Ooshma Garg was still in college at Stanford, she created her first startup company, Anapata, which matched students seeking jobs with employers. During this time, Garg says that she relied on fast food, take out food, and other unhealthy meal choices due to a lack of time to make healthy, home-cooked meals.

Garg decided to create a new startup that would fill this niche. Trying a delivery service of pre-made meals did not appeal to her since the meals were usually cold and unappealing. She then tried a business model similar to Blue Apron, where clients assembled the meals themselves but also found that this was nearly as time-consuming as making them from scratch.

Gobble founder Gooble was founded. Garg took the middle of the road approach. Ingredients for meals are measured, chopped, and ready to assemble. Clients only need to mix ingredients as required and cook them. Gobble states that meals take a maximum of 15 minutes to go from fridge to table.

Gobble’s subscription service does cost more than some others, but for subscribers, time is more important than cost. Most reviewers found Gobble superior to other services.

Gobble dinner sample In September 2019, Gobble was listed by Esquire as being one of the top 15 food subscription services.

Gobble offers service in 35 states and has plans to expand to all 50 states within the next few years.

Headquarters for Gobble are located in Palo Alto, California.

The Farmer’s Dog Corporate Office

The farmer's dog logo

Brett Podolsky’s Rottweiler, Jada, had problems digesting store-bought dog food. After consulting with a veterinarian, he and friend Jonathan Regev worked to find a home-made recipe that would not only help Jada’s stomach problems but that Jada would want to eat. The Farmer’s Dog was born.

The Farmer's Dog ad 2 The company operates a subscription dog-food delivery service. With facilities in every state, The Farmer’s Dog can delivery in all 50 states. The company boasts that its food uses real, fresh ingredients, unlike processed supermarket food which often uses powdered or dried by-products.

Food is shipped in dry ice and has daily portions in bags. Bags are frozen and clients simply remove them the day or night before.

In January 2019, The Farmer’s Dog raised $39 million in series B funding, the largest amount ever for a pet startup company.

Your Pizza Shop Corporate Office

My Pizza Shop Sign in store

The original Your Pizza location was founded by a family in Massillon, Ohio, in the 1950s. This family-owned business grew very slowly over the next few decades until 1978, when current CEO Dave Newstetter purchased the restaurant. He opened a second location in 1981.

Today, the company has 11 franchised locations in Ohio and Florida. Offering more than just pizza, the company also offers fish, wings, salads, special Italian foods, such as spaghetti, and other specialty pizzas.

Original YOur Pizza sign

In 2002, a newcomer to the neighborhood saw a sign above the Canton, Ohio, Your Pizza location that advertised a “420 Special”. Understanding this to be marijuana-related, the women asked that the sign be removed. After much protest, the sign was eventually removed, but the special pizza remained.

The company was named one of the best pizza franchises by Franchise Opportunity Blog in 2019.

Your Pizza Shop has future plans for expansion, including offering a sports bar, although the location has yet to be revealed.

The corporate office for Your Pizza Shop remains in Massillon, Ohio.
