I have shopped at harbor freight for many years but no longer! They dropped the discounts for their gas engines. They also raised the price on their vertical 22 hp lawn mower engine item 62879 by almost $300.00.. These engines are Chinese junk but harbor freight compares them to Kohler and Honda to justify the high price tag. I will buy Kohler and honda before I pay $1000.00 for those harbor freight throw away engines! Those co’s at harbor freight must be out of their greedy minds. They call their store a discount store but I can get a better deal at Northern Tools!

i purchased 3 race cars for x-mas 2019, they worked but would stop working. not reliable took them back with in 90 day period, the male manager told me i was the only 1 that returned this product. i told him i brought the product back with in the 90 days. i got my return, but it was very embarrassing. i have also seen him talking down to the employes. there is a lot of turn over @ this location in bridgeport CT. i will not shop @ harbor freight any longer. I am in the construction business, i have bought at harbor freight for many years. thank you

Placed an order 12/8/2019 Did not receive because on back order. Item advertised twice since I placed order. Once in December than in January.
Contacted customer service six times in the last few weeks. It’s coming but it never arrives. I believe they have no intention of sending but the item is still listed as available. They are trying to sell the item at the higher price rather than the sale price. I’ve got all my info and their ads. I will never order from them again. I guess it’s the old bait and switch.

First let me start off that I’m an insider with the company. I was looking for air tools and stuff. I asked the cashier if she could send someone to help me. I then waited around for about 10 minutes nobody came I saw the cashier again and asked her if somebody come and she said yes, in the meantime to none English speaking people; Mexican; came up and asked the cashier for help. The guy who came to help do not go to me he started speaking Spanish to the other guys and I said excuse me I was here first he continue to speak Spanish and walked away from me and then went to another cashier I told her story and complained she says well that’s the way it is. I am very disappointed in the way your employees active I’m also going to tell everybody that I know not to shop in your stores because you’re treating Americans has third class citizens

First I checked online to make sure the product was in stock then I drove 35 miles to the store and the product that I wanted Was the 600lb. Tow dolly was literally at the front door so I proceeded to pick up the slip pick up a few items additionally and proceeded to the jack out but the cashier Shelby could not get the store phone to dial out so she couldn’t call in to Tele-check . Down the other person working was the manager Deb who ironically added to the situation by not being able to locate the item in the stock room and would not sell the display at the door. I student lying for over an hour as they repeatedly tried to find the item on the successfully I asked them to have the corporate office and customer service give me a call as I’ve been a customer for decades and am in the system both personally and for the companies I own . This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever received in decades. I certainly am not going to order it online especially if they have it ” in stock, in the store” as I can only imagine how many sales or customers have been Lost and alienated due to this type of service . I know for myself in my business, I would be out of business if I dealt with my customers this way

I purchased a power washer a couple weeks ago. Today I got it out of the box and prepared to power wash the house.
The power washer was a big joke. My water hose has more pressure. I boxed it back up just like I bought it and with the receipt returned it. I was charged $16.00 to re stock. Apparently they sell returns that do not work. I purchased a greenhouse ( #47712) back in April of this year. I have reached out a half of dozen times to get my situation resolved. I am missing part # 34 (order # 1316224). I have been told numerous times that I will get it in 11 or 12 weeks. I am still awaiting. You guys tell me to go local and get it straighten out , but then local tells me to go HQ. This is getting old. I would like to get my greenhouse up while I am still on this planet. I am at the point I would like my money back & something done immediately.

I bought the 4-channel Wireless Surveillance System (62368) plus two additional cameras two years ago.
After one year one camera failed, I replaced it.
After just one year the monitor failed, I returned it and it was replaced.
Another year later now the new monitor failed again. Now I have four cameras mounted on my home and can’t view them because the monitor failed again. I bought the extended warranty and feel the monitor should be replaced.
I called customer service who told me the system has been upgraded to a Cobra and it’s compatible. So why can’t I get a replacement monitor? I would be willing to pay for a new monitor but told I can’t do that. I am on SS and cant
go out and buy a new system when I feel this system should last more than a year or two.
I have paid someone to put these cameras up, then an additional camera and two monitors two years later can’t view anything because the monitor has no lights or picture.. I took it to an electronic store who tested the wire, said its the monitor.
I am disappointed in Harbor Fright and wasted hundreds of dollars for a system to fail in a short time?
I would appreciate any help. I have called and emailed CS without any luck.

Your late night employees have been throwing large heavy items into your trash dumpster starting at around midnight. This activity creates very loud metal on metal bangs and have frequently woken me and my neighbors. The noise can go on for an hour. We’ve contacted the store directly but that doesn’t seem to help. The activity is getting more frequent and louder. Please remind your late night workers that they have residences right behind the store and that they are disturbing the peace. I am a USAF military Retiree. I was purchasing an item recently and inquired if there was a Military Discount for military Active or Retired. I was abruptly told no. I can’t understand why you don’t have this but Lowe’s and Home Depot does. We military have and will always continue to put our lives on the line for this Wonderful Country and yet companies like you and others will not show “Some” appreciation in what Retirees have done and Active Duty are doing now. I would like to know if you have any Veterans in your Policy making branch and what do they think of treating their Comrades this way. Keep this comment in mind. Had it not been for the US Navy in Hawaii “YOU” could be speaking “Japanese.” Home Depot and Lowe’s offer a 10 percent not included with other discounts on anything if the patron wants it. But atleast it there. Keep in mind that we have and will continue to keep the USA safe!

I went to Harbor Freight on US 31 South in Indianapolis (just north of 465).
This particular supervisor/manager is routinely rude.
I do not want to give out my phone number. Harbor Freight employees get in trouble if they don’t get it. (Yes, a different manager tried to make me feel guilty about that once).
So Kindra, the manager on this visit, was RUDE. I stated I didn’t want to give my phone number (I pay the bill for that phone, I don’t have to give it out to make a cash transaction) and I placed 2 items on the counter to purchase (a tarp and mini hammer for a charity). I place a 20% off one item coupon and a FREE tarp coupon on top of the tarp.
Kindra picked them each up and punched numbers. She gave me a total of $3.20. I stated that wasn’t right. She quickly stated it was because, “There are 2 tarps on there” and then made a (fake) correction.
The total was $3.20. I paid. I didn’t want to argue with her. I got my receipt and reviewed it. She did NOT take the 20% off the hammer (I already knew this).
She was downright hateful and said she’d “be right back to fix it!”
I got $0.64 refunded. It was an ordeal.
She is always rude when I go in. I buy one item, use a 20% off coupon, and get a free item – all for charity. Sometimes I buy several items for me personally, but if I’m just passing buy, I try to stop in for the free items.
She used the store phone number to enter the sale…
It’s as though she is taking it personally that I have a free time and 20% off and am scamming the store by making these purchases. I am not.
Harbor Freight establishes this marketing and I use it. End of story.
I don’t have to offer my phone number… personal choice. It is not a requirement in order to shop there. Period.
Her coworker made excuses for her and she was downright RUDE to him in front of 5-6 customers after he tried to cover for her. smh

On Sunday July 22, 2018, I went to the HF store in Sarasota Florida with the intent of giving them our business as apposed to their somewhat competitors Home Depot and Lowes to purchase a 30 inch utility fan which was on sale from the flyer I received in the mail. The promotion on the flyer was unclear what the exact price would be once the 25% coupon was applied. After unable to find the fan in the store , my wife and I found a young male employee by the name of David(whose name tag said Supervisor) to help us, he promptly led us to the fan and pleasantly answered our questions as to the confusion of the price along with the coupon. I commend HF on having it’s employees wear name tags as well as title Because of David’s professionalism and great customer service, we decided to get the fan. It wasn’t until we checked out at the register with a female named Shanice that we became totally disappointed. She was extremely rude and unprofessional to us as we questioned the price and coupons on flyer. She did not take the time to explain the different options we had and was even more rude when we had to keep asking questions to better understand. After purchasing the fan Dave helped load the fan into the back of our truck all the while apologizing profusely for his co worker Shanice horrific customer service skills/attitude. This experience has left a negative note on us and we will tell our friends about what took place.

Working hear has been horriable. The morning people get away with doing nothing and the secind shift is stuck doing 20+ page replenishment reports. It use to be in the morning but they mived it. Rober said it would be better yet were hear till about 1130 12 almost every night. When i first started i was told we closed at 8 so we are able to go home earlier. But robert had diffrent plans for our store. I asked all the other stores around us if they were doing this and they said no. Phoenix is my location. Also gave a fake name. Change this robert !!!!! My husband purchased a Predator 3500 along with a 2yr warranty. It stopped working correctly. We went to HF in Wichita Falls, TX,, the Mngr – Rob was very very rude and accused my husband and I of sabatoge to the generator upon returning it. He also said “Well, your lucky I’m taking this back”.
He REFUSED to view videos showing us unboxing Generator and REFUSED to open a 2nd Generator Box,, the Mngr kept accusing us of severing the fuel lines and then THREW US OUT OF THE STORE! This Mngr has No Business being in Retail Sales and Customer Service!! Do we have to bring the police with us in the event this 2nd Generator doesn’t work??!! All we wanted was to get a 2nd Generator under the 2yr warranty we purchased and a apology for being accused of sabatoge to a product we purchased on Memorial Day!

I bought a 3 gal., oil-less compressor 22 months ago with the 2 year warranty. Today 4-28-18 it quit on me. I use this everyday in my shop. I returned it to the Sanford Fl. store and showed the manager my receipt from approx.22 months ago. He asked me one question, what was wrong with the unit. I explained it to him and he said get another one (no charge) under warranty. I set me back when he said that. All I paid was another 2 yr. warranty.
The store manger was terrific, please let him know this. It is very rare in this day an age that companies stand by what they sell and warranties. You have a customer for life and someone, if asks about your company I will give you a rating over 100% satisfaction in quality and most of all CUSTOMER SERVICE. Keep up the good work and your business will grow 2 fold.

This Christmas, Dec. 2017, California is ablaze with one of it’s worst wildfires on record.I purchased several tools as gifts this Christmas. After too many days, I looked at Fed-Ex website to see why the long wait. Their website mentioned something like “Natural Disasters”.I don’t blame Harbor Freight Tools for this fire. This morning Dec. 22, the Fed-Ex website showed my tools still in California. They likely won’t make it for my Christmas as gifts. I do believe that HFT know some gifts will not be deliverible as gifts. Nor, do I believe Fed-Ex is intently holding back deliveries. The safety of their drivers has to be paramont concern. I understand, as a business owner the needs for strong Christmas sales. I do as well. But, if HFT with their warehouses in Cal. new their deliveries would have been delayed, for so many days ,even due to this fire. They should have noted it on their website so that their customers knew gifts might not make it in time.

Several years ago, my wife purchased a roofing Nailer from HF. Just recently the Nailer stopped working while doing a roofing project at its midway point. The remainder of the roof was manually nailed. My Father-In-Law called his local HF store close to his house and the HF representative told him to bring it in and HF would repair it or replace it. He took the Nailer in and another representative told him that unless the nailer had insurance, he would have to pay to have it looked at and repaired. When he informed me of the response he received, I told him HF guarantees the tool for the life of the tool and that they even advertise. I was unaware that HF offered insurance

I arrived in Yuma AZ 1st of November 2017 I winter here anywhere from one month to six months. I my mail was a Harbor freight catalog going thru it I saw a US general 13 drawer tool box which interested me priced at 379.99 I deceided to purchase it went into the store in Yuma and approached the lady at the till showed her the item in the catalog She checked the item for stock and then she called the manager and he said that was last moths sale and the only way I could purchase the item was to join their club, which was thirty dollars and that the item would now be costing 420.00 which has been adver tised for quite some time in your flyers so you lost a sale. I placed an order on 9/18/17 by phone for a generator asked to be sure they were in stock and was told yes they had plenty Inv# 3518748 paid with my debit card. I had to contact Harbor freight 3 times in order to get my receipt for the generator I ordered then finally received one by email. On 9/20 the trucking company phoned me to set up a delivery date for 9/21 or 9/22. Both my husband and I took off work for the delivery date that was set for 9/22 to call the trucking company the evening before to confirm they would call one hour before delivery time. At that time I was told that the item was lost in Charlotte, NC and it would not be delivered on the 22nd. Then I finally get the invoice from Harbor Freight Tools which now gives me a tracking number. Alyssa had told me that until it is shipped they cannot give me a tracking number. In checking the tracking number every day starting on 9/22 it says it was shipped from Dillon, SC to Charlotte, NC. But everyday it keeps telling me it is in transit but everyday it does not leave Charlotte, NC and changes the delivery date to the next day. On 9/29 still have not heard from Harbor Freight Tools regarding this item and the trucking company that will be delivering it to my home tells me to contact Harbor Freight because they have not received it from Harbor Freight. I call customer service and speak to David ext 6568 on 9/29 and he tells me that it is on back order and they won’t have it until some time in December. I needed this generator for the hurricanes hitting Florida that is why I made sure they had it in stock when I phoned. Now I tell David to give me my $1661.93 back into my account so I can go somewhere else to purchase one and he tells me it will take at least 7 working days for them to refund the money back to me. I asked why if they had my money in 24 hours they could not give it back in 24 hours. And was told that that was how long it took to transfer it back (NO WAY). I believe at this time I should contact an attorney being Harbor Freight told me they had it did not ship it and never contacted me to see if I wanted my money back or something else. This is poor business!!!!!! I will never purchase anything from Harbor Freight again and will never say a good word about them again. Certainly not a company anyone would want to business with if this is how they treat people!!!!

So far I have spoke with TWENTY-NINE (29) different people about my order of one particular item from Harbor Freight (HF). When I placed a phone call to the Corporate Office earlier today, and asked to speak with a Manager, I was passed around like a cur dog on adoption day, and each time that someone came on line, they told me that there was not even one (1) supervisor or manager available as they were “all in a meeting” [I wonder, was the meeting an instructional course on how not to be contacted by any customers for any reason?] Each time that I speak to one of the their Customer Service Representatives (CSR) I am to a completely different story, first they cannot find the order, and if or when they do find a the order I am told a completely different story than the last person that I had spoken with. Even when an delivery date is clearly posted on the tracking website, the CSR comes up with another story as to why the delivery date would be different than the one specified on the website. In the last iteration, a manager promised me that she would ensure that it would ship out the following day (Friday), without explaining why it had not been delivered when previous supervisors had tole me that it had already shipped and should be here on a specified date. When I called again today, I was then told that the item would be delivered (on the proverbial )”Tomorrow”. The lies once again began, with a similar number of inconsistencies ergo the package that I was assured had been shipped last Friday was allegedly not shipped out had not been shipped on that date, the only action that had occurred had been that the according to the carrier’s records was that HF had initiated a shipment tracking number, that having occurred last Thurs. (one week ago), and there was no record that the item itself had been shipped at all, let alone just four four days ago this date. Apparently no one at all in the HF organization can even manage to get an item shipped, let alone give the customer a truthful answer as to why the series of delays continues. That is just a summary of the false excuses, compounded by lies, that seem to be the way of Harbor Freight. Having left voicemail messages with the supervisor that last assumed ownership of the issues, an individual name “Jason” who is allegedly the individual in their President’s office, and made several other calls in reference to whese issues will be a phone call to Eric Smidt. Perhaps if he listens to the “tapes” that they allegedly make of each customers service inquiries, perhaps he will begin to understand why his company will be eventually filing for Bankruptcy Protections because of the number of lies that his employees tell the customers has finally driven them to shop elsewhere in that there is a threshold beyond which commercial customers as well as individual consumers will not continue to shop with a vendor whose misconduct fills volumes in social and business blogs as when one makes cost/value analysis as to the actual value of the lower price, they find that there are no real value in fictitious sales, when the items are not delivered withing a specified period of time

My Company, Bethea Electric, did the electrical work on your new store in Taylor, Tx. We have not been paid for our services, Heartland Retail Construction refuses to pay us. I have called Mrs. Pickett who works in the Corporate Office at Harbor Freight (818-307-7666) several times over the last two weeks, she refused to call me back. At this time we are owed over $32000 for work we did back in June. Is this Harbor Freights business practice?

I bought a predator 760cc the stop diode went bad I called and ordered one I was told that it would be 8 /10 weeks before delivery witch in unheard of coming from china I order things from china several times a month and it is never much over 2 weeks I called today and was told it was still processing it has been about 10 weeks this is not at all satisfactory for your customers this is not how to treat us. I will gladly pay the extra money to buy a product that I can get parts in a reasonable time period. whatever your problem is about the time for delivery must be changed if you want to keep customers happy. and don’t give me that crap about being a special order. i will be advising people I know to not buy them just pay the extra money and get a name brand you can get parts for. there should be a place in the us to buy parts. very pissed off customer

You might want to look into some eBay sellers selling your tools from Harbor Freight. Some sellers are charging six times and even more of the original price. Also selling it as new. This does not make Harbor Freight look good. Being is. Your tools are being sold as new without warranty from defect. Some of the tools that are being sold on ebay are Central Machinery tools.

I was in the store on july 112th 2017 I had 4 items totaling 78.00 I asked cashier to put two items on visa and 2 items on a master card he rang t hem up on 1 card then the drama began he had no idea how to refund. An obnoxious manager came into view who told me this happens all the time. He kept me at the register for 31 minutes because he couldn’t figure it out either. after asking me 7 times for my phone number they proceeded to charge me 4 more times. I called the district manager Nathan for garden Grove CA and he said nothing he could do he would recommend my disputing the charges. Well disputing has now cost me over 20 dollars in faxes and copies as I do not have printer at home I am disgusted by the behavior of the store manager who made me stay in the heat, As they have no air in the store and it was 100 degrees outside and ripping me off with no remorse. Then for your district manage to give me too bad so sad they ripped you off in overcharges,But I wont help you. SHAMEFUL

Called last night to the store in Raleigh, NC inquiring about a generator, if it was in stock or a special order item for online only. I believe that your customer services needs some classes on dealing with the general public. I think I’ll be able to find a company that will answer my questions and sell me a generator. By the way I’ve spent enough this year at you store to pay for several generators.

I was in your Conway,S.C. store yesterday June,17,2017 looking for an item.
When my husband and I were unable to find it we asked a gentleman standing nearby.His reply was that he knew what we were looking for because he had several at home.He then continued to say that we should go to Roses.He said he doesn’t shop there or Walmart or Kmart because they were beneath him and walked away.It turns out he was the store manager.Not to worry, we will never shop your stores again.Have done lots of business with you folks.It’s a shame that you folks employ people like that.I’m sorry that we didn’t go in dressed to the nines however it didn’t mean that we were unable to pay for a purchase.

Although the majority of comments here are complaints, I would like to pose a suggestion. My family and I have shopped at Harbor Freight for many years. Yes, we have had some items returned, but they have always been received with kindness and professionalism (in two states). I am now in a third state, MS, with the nearest Harbor Freight a little over 30 minutes away.
A local clearance store just closed down in Picayune, MS (Fred’s) … as a real estate appraiser I saw it as a perfect location for a Harbor Freight in this little town. I was challenged to contact you and make the suggestion. Thus, my comment on your site.
Ask any realtor in the area about the former Fred’s location – EVERYONE has to pass it to get to the Walmart… on Memorial Highway.
Please consider it – the town continues to grow and most would prefer to shop in town for items than go to Louisiana or Walmart for them.

First off! I will say i will never grace your, Jonesboro Ar. store with my presence again…. because of the way your assistant manager brandy was rude and extremely hateful for absolutely no reason. other than maybe she was having a bad day…….. no excuse for her to treat me the way she did!!! I really liked harbor freight but my opinion changed with this incident especially when, I complained to the main manager and he did not correct the problem. If this is the type of people you employ then it clearly shows your companies lack of competence in hiring people. My family and I will not shop at Harbor Freight again!!!! A few bad apples ruin the hole barrel. Sad just Sad.

I went into your store on Walzem Hwy here in San Antonio, Texas yesterday and was handing out discount coupons to customers that were shopping without coupons. In exchange for the coupon I asked them if they would give me the free item. This guy came up to me and identified himself as the store manager and asked me to leave stating “your soliciting our customers and I could charge you with shoplifting”! Not to cause a scene I left. I’m retired Military and retired from US Customs. I know the policy of one free item per day per customer. What those folks do with that item is up to them: trash it, give it away, or whatever its their choice. By me offering the coupon its an incentive for them to buy more or in some cases purchase the extended warranty. People ask me what do you do with items? I volunteer at a food pantry I give some of those items to the homeless along with a P38; if you know what that is. Can opener! I make up bags for the city trash collectors that come through the neighborhood doing their thankless job. It all goes to a good cause. I would appreciate some one in your PR department to respond to me with an ethical solution. I left a voice mail for Mr. Bond! I hope his first name isn’t James!

I was at the Bangor, Maine store and came away VERY annoyed and frustrated.
I made a purchase for the motorcycle lift (#69904) Very heavy So I knew it would be in out back of ware house.
I perched it first as I was told it would be a little while getting it to loading door.
So I shopped in store for an few items.
I WAITED IN LINE FOR 25 MINUTES.
You have 6 registers an only 2 where open,people 8-10 deep.
I saw 3 people leave an just left there stuff where it laid.
I got to loading dock,no one there.
IT WAS 45 MINUTES BEFORE I GOT MY ITEM.
They/you folks have got to make some changes.

I hope this reaches the right person. Your customer service is horrible, retail store here is great ordering on the phone is miserable. I dont appreciate being jacked around on price i have watched and saved money for one of your items for a long time i know what it sells for. I finally try to purchase and it is not online anymore. So i call was told it was discontinued called again oh we have 63 in the warehouse great go to order was told a much higher price then i recalled. Went with it cause i had no proof wasn’t up online anymore. Guess what a week after i order it, it pops up online again much less then i paid. Not on sale, no no regular price so i call cause hf offers 30 days to get discount. Im told no you cant have it for that price. Well guess what i will drive this thing back to cali myself and re order online if i have to, to get the price that is fair. Your customer service should read what your “core values ” are online cause i did and i dont think they did one of your core values on the phone with me. I spend lots of money at your retail store and i am more then willing to spread the word and stop buying from you if this does not get handled correctly. Very disappointed in this whole experience.

I guess I see why you don’t have a phone number listed at your corporate office, you are hiding from phone complaints like mine. I was on the phone with your so call customer service 3 time and never did even one associate answer my call. I think your ordering dept. sucks at best…I you are that busy you need to hire more people. You are not the only place to shop at…Oh for your phone number forget it ….I have a better way of getting results to tell how bad your customer service and ordering departments really are.

We have several vacant buildings/stores which a Harbor Freight store would do a fantastic business. One which was Walgreens, a free standing building here at the intersection of Kamp Washington, 10980 Fairfax Boulevard, Fairfax, Virginia 22030. The closest stores are Manassas, VA 12 miles (Manager David), Sterling, VA, 12 miles (Manager Dave), and Woodbridge, VA, 15 miles, next one is in Gaithersburg, MD., approx 25/30 miles.
