Garden Ridge was founded by Eric White in 1979 as Garden Ridge Pottery.
By 1988, there were 3 stores and White sold the company to a group of investors so he could retire.
In 1990, after almost bankrupting the chain, the investors sold the company to a new group which included Armand Shapiro and Jack Lewis.
The pair revamped the chain and opened a new prototype stores in Houston in 1992. The prototype was a success and two additional stores were opened in ’93 and ’94.
In 1995, the company went public. The company opened 4 stores, including its first outside Texas in Louisville, KY.
In 1998, Lewis resigns as President and COO.
By 2004, the company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They emerge in 2005.
In 2011, the chain is acquired by AEA Investors and taken private.
Today, Garden Ridge operates 63 stores in 19 states.

Dear Garden ridge, I was wanting to know first of all if your company and At Home stores are related. Here is why I ask. I know garden Ridge used to own the Tulsa, Ok store which is now At Home store. That being said I am looking for a rug they have on display there that they never seem to have or ever get in even at my request. It is the large B15 Cream Chinelle Belium rug and 2 runners. Is it possible to order those from you and have them shipped to the at home store with my name on them? Or am I just out of luck? My wife and love this rug and hope that you can help us. Thank you .

You have the worse manager at the store off of Bryant Irvin Rd. in Ft. Worth, Texas. His name is Remi. He is rude, obnoxious, and not helpful at all. Please have someone contact me. # is (817))420-XXXXX

You have the worst website I have ever experienced. Your products are great. You have to get a user friendly website to see your products. I tried calling customer service and got transferred to India. I tried calling Lewis Bird at corp and all I got was a recording, not even an option to talk to an operator. You have a serious problem, and I do expect a call back from an executive, because I think you should know what your customers are experiencing.

I was in your Store today, Sept. 14, 2014. I had my daughter with me and she is in a wheelchair. I had to get a shopping cart and have my daughter push it while I push her.. We leave it in an out of away place. Shop a few ails then move it and shop some more. We were almost finished and had made it all the way to the other side of your store when one of your clerks took our basket. I said something to one of the girls that kinda knows us. She said that they don’t let baskets stay in the ails long. We went all over the store trying to find our cart. Did not find it, but we say the same 2 that have been in the same place with the same stuff in them for over an hour. I have shopped with Garden ridge for years. If this is how the new store is going to treat your tried and true customers, we won’t be back.

What in the world is going at your Garden Ridge Store in Sugar Land? I applied for a part-time job over your website… called in for an interview… was told I would be called back in a few days for a second interview… then found out… all the management positions were open at that store! Did everybody quit? Now when I look up my status online… it says as of yesterday… not recommended? What seems to be the matter? I have many quality years of Customer Service experience and am exceptional when it comes to Interior Design?

I had a issue with my manager in your Hattiesburg store,so I put in my vacation dates before they hired me. And after a few months my vacation came up and while I was gone on vacation she hired someone else the same week and gave them my hours, and as I returned I had only 4 hours on schedule and then to find out,it was because she hired her husband boss, wife and daughter and gave them both my hours and left me with nothing. Yes it was completely wrong and then next week after I got 7 hours and they both was get all my hours, I think it was a racist thing my stuff, I hope justice is done cause I was done
