Kloss Furniture and Outlet Corporate Office

After operating Kloss Meat Market for nearly 17 years, Delmar and Doris Kloss wanted to try something different. They opened Kloss Furniture in Highland, Illinois, in 1976. When Delmar passed away, Doris and her son Steve continued to operate the business.

The company offers a wide range of furniture and mattresses, selling top brands including Bassett and Serta. From a single location, the company has grown into 5 showrooms, two outlet centers, and Mattress 1st stores in St. Louis, which strictly sell mattresses and bedroom items.

The original showroom in Highland burned to the ground in 1998. The family operated out of an old warehouse, dubbed The Tin Shed. The no-frills warehouse with very low overhead proved to be a winning financial decision for the business.

Joss and Main got its start when entrepreneurs Niraj S. Shah & Steven K. Conine started a small business working out of Conine’s nursery. They called their furniture company Wayfair.

Wayfair was so successful the pair decided to expand and create other subsidiaries; Josh and Main was founded in 2011. This store differs from Wayfair in that it is a membership store. It offers a wide variety of items other than the usual furniture, including outdoor items and furniture, rugs, lighting fixtures, and specially chosen, unique decor items.

In addition to online shopping, the company offers a mobile app designed to make shopping fun and easy for consumers.

In 2017, Joss and Main partnered with HGTV to provide furniture and other items for houses that are being renovated and flipped.

A Joss and Main director was featured in the Boston Globe in September 2018, highlighting how she learned to use style tips from her employer to renovate and decorate her family’s Charlestown Victorian home.

Havertys Furniture Corporate Office

Havertys Furniture was founded by brothers J.J. and Michael Haverty in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1885. The company did so well that within 3 years, the brothers moved the store to a larger location. By 1908, the company had 17 locations.

J.J’s son Clarence, who grew up sweeping the floors, wanted to be a bigger part of the business. His father gave him 8 locations and immediately began building new stores south of Atlanta.

Today, Havertys is one of the biggest names in furniture in the southern part of the US, with more than 100 locations in 16 states. The company went public in 1929 and barely survived the Great Depression.

In 2000, the company began making their own brand of furniture, which now makes up most of the company’s sales.

In April 2018, the Sherman, Texas, location closed after being in business for more than 30 years. Employees were offered employment at other locations.

In October 2018, the company posted third-quarter profits of more than 39%.

In June 2023, Havertys recalled its Concord Dual Power Reclining Chairs.

LoveSac was founded in 1995 by current CEO Shawn D. Nelson. He started his business by making bean bag chairs and selling them to other University of Utah students. After learning Chinese while on a religious mission, Nelson put this skill to use to purchase material directly from China for his first large order. In 2005, he won a $1 million investment on Richard Branson’s reality TV show “The Rebel Billionaire.”

The company is best known for its gigantic bean bag “chairs” that are so big, they can double as couches or even beds. LoveSac also makes sectional sofas that can be rearranged into various configurations, change seat covers, and exchange parts that become damaged, rather than purchase a new set.

LoveSac filed for bankruptcy in 2006 but emerged that same year. In 2012 it was named the Fastest Growing Furniture Company in the US by Furniture Today magazine and in June of 2018, the company went public on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol: LOVE.

The company currently has 60 store locations, though most sales are done online.

Headquarters are located in Stamford, Connecticut. LoveSac reported sales of $101.8 million for the fiscal year ending February 4, 2018.

El Dorado Furniture Corporate Office

El Dorado Furniture was founded by Cuban immigrant Manuel Capo in 1967 in Miami, Florida. Today, the company is owned and operated by the Capo family.

In 1994, El Dorado Furniture opened its first Boulevard showroom. This design concept would eventually be implemented in all of its stores. The Boulevard is a facade of a typical Main Street in America, surrounded by “shops” that serve as dedicated showrooms for different categories of furniture.

In 2004, the company opened the largest furniture showroom in the state of Florida and in 2006, Furniture Today listed the company as #46 on their list of the Top 100 Furniture Stores in the US. The company now has 14 showrooms throughout the state.

In June 2022, the company opened a massive 44,000-square-foot showroom in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Headquarters for the company are still located in Miami, Florida.
