Kemps was founded in 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri, by William Henry Kemps. The company has been sold multiple times and acquired other dairy farms over the years.

Some of the best-known acquisitions include Goodrich Ice Cream in 1999, Gillette Dairy, also in 1999, and Cass Clay Creamery in 2012.

Today, the company is owned by Dairy Farmers of America.

In late June 2023, Kemps donated nearly 1 million milk cartons to various food banks in the Midwest.

Minnesota cheese makers, such as Kemps, competed in a contest in February 2023 to evaluate who had the tastiest cheese.

In August 2022, the company took over a warehouse in Rochester, Minnesota, that formerly belonged to IBM.

Turtle Stop Corporate Office

Turtle Stop gas stations and convenience stores are owned and operated by the Wyandotte Native American tribe.

The first location was founded in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, in 1986. Currently, there are 5 locations, most in Oklahoma and one located in Seneca, Missouri.

The original store began as a simple conveience store that served both the Wyandotte tribe and travelers but gas pumps were soon added.

The Turtle Stop added a fourth store after purchasing the OnCue Convenience Store, located at 1101 E Hwy 10, for its second location in Grove, Oklahoma.

The Wyandotte tribe also owns other businesses, including Bearskin Grill, Lucky Turtle Casino and gas station, Club 60 West, Crosswinds Casino, River Bend Casino and Hotel, and 7th Street Casino.

All employees are Wyandotte tribe members and profits are shared among tribal members.

Most locations offer mini-casinos inside the stores, fast food, such as pizza and hot dogs, as well as souvenirs and everyday grocery items.

Turkey Hill Minit Markets Corporate Office

In 1967, Charles and Emerson Frey opened the first Turkey Hill Minit Markets store on Columbia Avenue in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as a way to better market their dairy products.

In the 1970s, the company continued to expand by acquiring other convenience stores, such as the 36 Louden Hills stores in 1979 and six Ideal Markets. As of 2017, there are 267 locations.

Kroger owned Turkey Hill Minit Markets for a few years but then sold it to the EG Group in 2018.

Also in 2018, the company installed blue lights inside many locations in order to prevent people from using intravenous drugs in the bathrooms.

Turkey Hill Minit Markets is owned by the EG Group and operated independently from Turkey Hill, a separate Peak Rock Capital-owned brand of iced tea, ice cream, and other beverages and frozen desserts.

In January 2020, Burger King opened a location inside a Turkey Hill Minit Market in Pennsylvania. This is part of an overall plan by Turkey Hill to include fast food locs inside many of its stores.

Nathalie Wu had lived in Florida for more than 14 years while her husband Thomas has worked as a top chef at many restaurants. When Thomas passed away, Nathalie not only wanted to stay in Florida, she wanted to own her own restaurant.

After taking a two-year college course in business management, Wu purchased a defunct restaurant and named it Wicked Bao.

Bao is the Chinese word for a bun and it is common street food in many Asian countries. Wu wanted to bring the flavors of her native Taiwan to America.

Although the restaurant has only been in business for 5 years, it has topped Yelp and other review sites’T lists of “favorite restaurants in Florida “every year since its opening.

The basic menu doesn’t change but the chef’s specials change seasonally.

The company operates a chain of pizza and beer restaurants in southern California. Beginning with a single location in Mira Mesa, Best Pizza and Brew now operates 5 restaurants.

The newest area branch of Best Pizza & Brew will soon be opening in mid-2023. The 150-seat restaurant will feature large roll-up garage doors, multiple fire pits, an indoor/outdoor bar, and a 2,100-square-foot patio.

Best Pizza and Brew also offers pizza by the slice if a whole pizza seems like too much.
