Peter Piper Pizza was founded in 1973 by Tony Cavolo. The company is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Peter Piper Pizza, in addition to the usual pizza and drinks, also features a large game room adjacent to the eatery filled with classic arcade games and playground equipment.

In addition to pizza the company also offers menu items such as salads, chicken wings, breadsticks, and even beer at some locations. A lunch buffet is also offered in business districts.

In 2016 the company announced that it was redesigning and remodeling all locations to push for a nationwide expansion.

In 2014, Peter Piper Pizza was purchased by CEC Entertainment, Inc., which is a subsidiary of Apollo Global Management L.P., and the same parent company that operates Chuck E. Cheese restaurants.

In late 2018, the company announced a shakeup of its executive team, promoting Mahesh Sadarangani  as the new CEO

The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2023 and offered special deals on meals.

El Pollo Loco was founded in 1975 by Juan Francisco Ochoa in Guasuave, Sinaloa, Mexico. The restaurant chain added new locations throughout northern Mexico and in 1980, the first U.S. location opened on Alvarado Street in Los Angeles, California. In the early 1980’s, all American locations were purchased by Denny’s restaurants.

Today, the company has more than 400 locations and franchises throughout North America. The company went public in July of 2014 on the NASDAQ, where it is publicly traded under the ticker symbol: LOCO.

El Pollo Loco features Mexican style chicken and chicken based meals such as salads, burritos, and tacos, as well as citrus marinaded, fire grills chicken pieces. In 2012, all El Pollo Loco restaurants were remodeled and restyled to update their interior designs.

High Tide Harry’s was founded in 1995 by Mike Heretick. The restaurant serves typical seafood platters and specials, such as Maryland crab cakes in a causual dining atmosphere. The restuarnt is a no frill experience but has unique twists that make it fun for many people, including serving drinks in a “fishbowl” type of glass. Although the company offers an “all you can eat” seafood bar or replacement meals, they have posted on their website that this is limited to 7 platefuls per person.

High Tide Harry’s does not offer delivery service but does have a take-out menu. The company was located at the corner of North Semoran Boulevard and Colonial Drive for 15 years, but moved closer to the airport in 2010. Heretick has stated that while remodeling costs were more than $250,000, he feels it was a worthwhile investment as business has increased substantially.

Once publicly traded on the NASDAQ, Lone Star Steakhouse is now privately owned. Since its purchase, newer restaurant locations and remodeled locations no longer feature the Texas ranch decor, but favor a more upscale, trendy type of motif. The menu has also been revamped and today features 25 items under $10. This has dramatically increased sales.

Jason’s Deli was founded in Beaumont, Texas, in 1976 by friends Joe Tortorice, Jr. and Rusty Coco. Both men grew up with fathers who owned neighborhood grocery stores. The pair decided to open their own deli and their original store on Gateway Street is still operational.

The company offers the usual American delicatessen favorites, such as sliced meats and sandwiches, however, unlike other deli’s, Jason’s also offers a salad bar and daily soup selection.

Jason’s Deli began their first franchise in 1988. The company now has 250 locations in 29 states. In 2011, the company had $500 million in revenue.

The company removed trans-fats from its foods in 2005 and in 2008, it set up a 5-year plan to remove high fructose corn syrup from their food items.

In June 2023, Restaurant Business reported that Jason’s Deli was the highest-grossing brand in the US.
