Food Bazaar, founded in 1988, owns and operates a chain of supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Founder Frances An, Korean born, but who lived for many years in Argentina, discovered when he moved to New York that many grocery items he was accustomed to buying were not available or were very difficult to find. The company offers imported food items from around the world to help people make authentic food dishes. The stores also carry natural and organic food items in addition to the usual meat, milk, and bread. As of 2016, the company had 25 locations in the tri-state area. Food Bazaar regularly partners with numerous non-profit organizations by providing substantial food donations and hosting many community events year-round.
Food Bazaar is still owned and operated by the An family and has headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.

My mother went to the supermarket and she got a senior citizen discount. She spends 68.03 and supposedly she gets 5%. How the heck 5% of 68.03 equals $1.00. It’s suppose to be $3.40 minus the amount she suppose to pay 64.62 (round it up to 64.63). Are your guys ripping off senior citizens?

The store on Flatlands Avenue Brooklyn New York. Have the rudest people working there the manager are just as rude. They don’t want to bag your groceries. This checker Chanely Agurero is rude and lazy she act like she being interrupted and bothered by customers going through her line. She refused to bag my groceries Tuesday August 3rd saying I should bag them. I don’t work there why should I bag my groceries? I called to speak to the manager and they kept hanging up the phone on me. I will never shop there again. And hope other so the same.

I have contacted you multiple times in regard to the racial profiling that takes place at the 42-02 Northern Blvd location. I’m a frequent shopper at this particular location and I tend to notice you have security stationed at the exit. On numerous occasions, I’ve noticed the two security guards by the name of “Edmond” and “Ali” seem to leave their post once I’m at the checkout area and stand directly behind me as I’m checking out. This is not an isolated incident and has happened several times and I’ve contacted corporate multiple times to express how uncomfortable this makes me because it’s giving me the impression that they feel the need to watch me. A similar incident happened on 11/1 around the same time and I addressed my concerns to the security guard directly and corporate.
I personally feel like the management at this location is encouraging this type of behavior and it needs to be addressed. Approximately two years ago I was entering the store with several other customers however I was the only African-American customer and I was asked by a lot attendant by the name of Rodney to check my bags. Not only was I the only customer that was asked to check their bags but this location doesn’t even have a bag check policy. I reached out to corporate and received an apology from the store manager (Brian) and I was also compensated with a Food Bazaar gift card. No one should be treated this way while shopping.

Food Bazaar is very racist. Only Spanish speaking people can get what’s on sale. I was purchasing the Tide for $5.99 w/$50. purchase, I wanted the odor control one. I was told I could only get the green or blue label and not the orange label. The customer ahead of me (Spanish speaking) was able to get it but, not me and I spent well over $50.
I will not be shopping there at Flatlands anymore. I will walk two blocks to Shoprite. They have better quality foods. Also, Canarsie demographic is Black not Spanish, why aren’t there any Black managers. We speak English in this neighborhood and your employees only speak Spanish.
Get out of our neighborhood because we don’t need your racist practices. Good Riddens!

Food bazaar located in bronx on st paul ave seems to have race issues. Cashiers close the registers when they see blacks on line. To turn around and open up once they see someone of spanish decent. When spoke to manager of such movements along with other irate customers, manager denied the actions. Stated that cashier only opened to cash out bottle recycle. Which doesnt make sense since supermarket has to pay out money vs getting paid for they products. Not one apology. Manager began to argue with me over the incident. No one was wearing name tags. So manager and cashier begin to speak spanish as if i didnt understand. She stated ignore that XXXXXXXX. I said excuse me to manager, she stated nothing.

Good Night
Hi, I recently just went to the Food Bazaar at 1630 Bruckner Blvd, Bronx NY 10473. The time was exactly 10:12pm. As I’m walking into the supermarket, I find myself fighting with the door (because it was locked). The employee says we are closed. I ask what time? Because online it says 10:30pm The employee says 10:30 but they lock the doors at 10:20pm I say its not even 10:15pm. I understand that it is late and everyone wants to go home, but I just got out of work myself and all I needed was formula for my infant! I feel that it is false advertisement and very unfair to a customer like myself.
