Mills Company was founded by Stewart C. Mills Sr. in Brainerd, Minnesota, in 1922, with Fleet Farms being founded in 1955 by Stewart C. Mills Jr, and his father.
The company operates a chain of 45 stores that vary in size, with smaller stores offering tools and other equipment, while larger stores sell tools, power tools, automotive goods, garden supplies, home items, hardware, clothing, and even operate gas stations.
In 2016, the company was sold to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, a private equity firm for $1.2 billion.
At a time when most companies are letting employees go or are laying them off, the company is hiring for many positions, as of April 20, 2020.
Due to the coronavirus crisis and subsequent quarantine in April 2020, many homeowners stocked up on ammo and guns, including those sold at many Fleet Farm locations.
The company moved to a new headquarters location in Appleton, Missouri, in January 2020.

Please stop selling womens Liberty Lane clothing. Women do not like this brand at all as was evident in every store this winter. They don’t fit, aren’t attractive and are cheaply made. Thank you.

I’d like to commend two of your employees at the Ankeny (IA) store for their help when I returned some damaged items. They were very helpful and polite. The two employees were Angie who worked at the courtesy counter and I assume her manager, Olivia. I really appreciated their assistance.

Treated unfair and was discriminated against at the Hasting Fleet Farm.
My boyfriend and I visited your store on Dec 10th around 6 pm to purchase a Savage .243 shotgun. The price of the firearm was $599 but we decided that was the one we wanted as it had the nicer scope on it. Chris gave all his information to the gentleman behind the counter and then was asked to go to a computer to type in his information for the background check. My boyfriend is a farmer and does not know how to use a computer well and does not type either. I was standing there to try and help him type when he told me his information and was reprimanded by the employee behind the counter that i could not help him. i asked if he could come stand there with us so he knew i was typing in the information Chris gave me and he said no, he has to do it himself. Well Chris tried his hardest and was struggling with the drop down menu so i helped him with that and was again reprimanded. I told the employee that he is a farmer and has no idea how to use a computer, his rude comment back was “well arent all tractors computerized now so he should know how to do that.” that was so rude and disrespectful that Chris told the employee that he was done and wasn’t going to purchase the firearm because we were being treated so rudely. then i said well i will purchase the firearm for myself then as we go hunting together all the time and i could use that gun for me. i was told that i could not purchase it because that gun was intended to be purchased by Chris and that if i bought it then they would think i was buying it for him. We both were very upset as it is discrimination to not sell a firearm to someone who cant operate a computer. We left the store. Awhile later i went back in to purchase that gun for myself and they had me give all my information and do all the computer background information. Then the employee that was helping me came to the counter and said “we are going to have to deny you this purchase today” I asked why and he said it was because i was in earlier with my boyfriend and he was going to purchase a similar gun. This employee made this statement so loudly to me that the other customers turned to look at me and made me feel so belittled and embarrassed. i told him that this was for me and he said he cant sell it to me so i asked to talk to the manager on duty and the female manager came back and was very rude to me stating she will not sell it to me because they dont trust that it was for me and that it would be a straw purchase even though i gave all my own personal background information. I was very upset as the store had 10% off firearms and i also am a rewards member and had an additional 15% off that day so i was going to lose out on the discount but she was so rude to me and said “that is not our problem and we are not selling you this firearm”. I explained that i had recently purchased a Ruger 9MM from that store and i had no issues. she told me that they still wont sell it to me. I then said that is fine i will be back on a later date to purchase it and she told me that i was banned for the for seeable future to buy and firearms from her store. I feel so discriminated against in many ways, me being a female not being allowed to purchase a firearm, my boyfriend being discriminated against for not being able to operate a computer and we were also denied our right to bear arms. I have my carry permit as well and I have the right to purchase a firearm anytime i want but that right was taken away from me and my boyfriend that day and we are very upset and hurt over this. Our family is a farm family and hunting family and we spend alot of money at Fleet Farm for our farming business, and our family and friends also spend alot there on firearms and items for their farms, but after this we may decide to go elsewhere unless this is taken care of. I would like to hear back as to how Corporate will make this right for our family. This took me a few days to send as i needed to cool down from the whole experience we had to go through. Please contact me ASAP to make this right. I am so hurt by all this.
Thanks

Waukee – this might be a good place to work IF there was enough zebra phones and printers to go around but there is NOT.
Everyday I have to go in early enough so that I can get the equipment necessary to do my job and the other people on the team, which is the pricing team.
I have been told that multiple requests have been made for more equipment but EVERYONE of those requests have been ignored. Now, I am getting very concerned that do to the fact that no one cares that the pricing people are important enough to get there job tasks completed daily, I am looking into having the pricing team eliminated and making the zone people do ALL of the changes. This action may eliminate my position but I am hoping that it will get the attention of the higher ups and get the people the equipment they need.

Here I am again, total disappointment! I live 45 miles one way and this was the yet another wasted trip. I went to check out a drawer unit that was on line, guess what ? Nope they did not have it and yes the shelves are empty also wanted to pick up some Valley Splendor peanuts that are on sale. I have purchased this brand once before, but this is the second time I have made the trip in hopes Fleet Farm would have received better quality from that company. Most bird lovers know that the birds will not eat the red peanuts, they leave them in the feeders. FF send them back to the company. The KAYTEE brand is way too expensive so my birds will need to wait until I can find peanuts somewhere else. When entering the store it is posted Masks are REQUIRED, awesome! Why aren’t the employees wearing masks????? Yes, we have also been dedicated customers of FF, I will not be in the Cedar Rapids Iowa store unless I am in the area, and that is not likely. W

We have been shopping at Mills Fleet farm for nearly 40 years, it was where we spent a big chunk of our money. Now we can’t get much of anything at that store, especially sale and on line promotions. It always states that there are no products within 100 miles. I used to feel sorry for the stores where it said not available at but now it’s our store in Baxter. So sad that a great store has been destroyed by new owners.

I been working for about a year going on 2 years at Fleet Farm. I currently work at the C-store and the current GM is Curtis Pelster. Curtis is 1 of the most unprofessional guys I’ve ever had the displeasure to work for. Ever since, I 1st crossed paths with Pelster he has made working there a nightmare and yesterday was no acception. He literally walked in no mask or nametag on and began questioning me about the gas run. Asking me if Mike or Sheila got the paperwork done. I replied by saying I came in around noon I got no idea if it got done yet. Curtis was like well can you call them? I was like my phone is charging and responded by saying “J*s*s Chr*st”. So I said I will try to call them and lastly I asked why he was being so loud and hostile. As I went to get my phone he followed me to back to berate me some more going “oh I thought your phone was dead.” Just before he left, Pelster then asked why Sheila couldn’t get in the store because the key was not working. I responded and said I don’t know that key should usually open that door without a issue. Curtis apparently thinks I am to blame for the door as well. Funny thing about the paper work to the gas run was it was in hisfiling cubbey the whole time. He just chose not to look for it and came in all unprofessional yelling at me, luckily there were mo customers around. I never got an apology from Pelster either. All I got was a “put your mask on” funny he didn’t have his on earlier. Another thing Curtis Pelster has done was put flammable materials by the gas pumps. From charcoal, wood, antifreeze and windshield washer fluid. The team lead had warned Curtis not to those materials there and he responded by just yelling at her and she hasn’t been seen since. All in all, that is my personal experience with Curtis Pelster.

The HR in sioux falls screwed my sister over big time when she took the lead position at the gas station it was agreed with the managers and corporate that she would have a set schedule 545 to 1 or 2 due to her child she went above everyone’s heads and changed it knowing that it was agreed apone for her schedule she worked that time for 2 years HR told her if she can’t work what she schedules her then don’t come back she also got mad that my sister had court for when her son was stabbed and almost lost his life in 2019 she was not wanting to let her go to court in November for that thank God my sister went anyway you guys have lost a very dedicated employee due to your HR person my sister would work when she was not working she would take all the calls that the managers did not want to deal with she would leave her family events to go help the employees at that gas station that were having problems we are sorry to say that our family won’t be returning to fleet farm for business if the employees get treated that way the GM Curtis is awesome but your HR person needs to go for not following a set schedule set by corporate and management once again you guys lost a very good employee that was there from opening day

Won’t continue to shop at Fleet farm if you continue to sell My Pillow products. Liddell, the owner has visited Trump to give him advice on how to site Marshall Law to remain president. LIDDELL is a traitor to the country and you shouldn’t support him.

Why don’t you enforce your mandatory mask mandate? I’m done shopping there after seeing numerous people not complying. You should just have a sign up that says enter at your own risk.
