FlashParking was founded by current CEO Juan Rodriguez, in 2011. Watching workers load up electric scooters to take them home to recharge them, it occurred to Mr. Rodriguez that an empty or half-occupied parking structure could be used for the same purpose.
FlashParking uses an integrated suite of hardware and subscription solutions for parking operators and asset owners to manage their gated, parking lot, and valet operations.
FlashParking has doubled in size every year, according to company statistics. Mr. Rodriguez has plans to create more useful parking garages or parking lots than mere places to put a car or motorcycle, including resting spots for Uber drivers, charge electric cars and scooters, drones could deliver packages to cars as they sit parked, and more.
In January 2020, the company raised $60 million from private equity firm L. Catterton.
FlashParking maintains headquarters in Austin, Texas.
