Legg & Company was founded by George Mackubin in 1899 in Baltimore as Mackubin & Company, an insurance company. Mason & Company was founded by Raymond A. Mason in 1962 in Newport News, Virginia, a brokerage firm.

Today Legg Mason is a global investment management firm which focuses on asset management, annuities, and trust services. The company manages 140 mutual funds under the names Legg Mason, Royce Funds, and Western Asset.

Pactiv Corporation manufactures and distributes food service products and food packaging.

The company was created in 1959 when American Boxboard, Ohio Boxboard, and Central Fibre merged to become Packaging Corporation of America (PCA).  PCA operated paper mills that produced cardboard boxes.

Tenneco Inc. acquired PCA in 1965 and expanded the company’s product portfolio to include aluminum, clear plastic, foam products, molded fiber, and pressware.

In 1999 Tenneco spun-off PCA into an independent company and renamed Pactiv Corporation.

Pactiv Corporation was acquired by Reynolds Group Holdings Limited in 2010.

The company was founded in 1947 by Frank C. Sullivan as Republic Powdered Metals, which sold heavy-duty roof coating made of aluminum called Alumanation.

After Sullivan’s death in 1971 RMP Inc. was created as a holding company in order to expand into the paint and coatings industry. Thomas C. Sullivan, the founder’s son, became CEO of the holding company. He ran the company for more than three decades. During his tenure net sales increased from $11 million to $2 billion.

When Tom retired in 2002 his son, Frank C. Sullivan, took over the company.

Today RPM International’s brands include Stonhard, Tremco, Illbruck, Carboline, Flowcrete, Universal Sealants, and Euco.
