Dixie Cafe was founded in 1980 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The company owns two different restaurants, the Dixie Cafe, sometimes called Dixie’s Restaurant, and the Delta Cafe. The company wanted to open a restaurant that was more like a relative’s kitchen than a business. All food is made fresh daily, by hand, including yeast rolls, fresh vegetables, cut and cooked to order, and genuine Southern cooking.
The company operates 15 Dixie locations in three states and 3 Delta Cafe’s all located in Okalahoma. This casual dining chain focuses on traditional food of the South, including fried catfish, red beans and rice, as well as cornbread. Dixie and Delta Cafes are considered family friendly, with reasonable pricing. Each location offers an old fashioned soda fountain that offers milkshakes, ice cream, and a wide variety of ice cream dishes.
Most locations offer food to go and will allow telephone orders for pick up. The company prides itself on treating customers like family, even though they are a chain restaurant business.
In early December of 2017, Dixie Cafe announced that all locations would be closing by the middle of December and the company would be filing for bankruptcy.

I hate you are closing, one place I could go eat alone and not feel weird! I’m really going to miss the Jalapeno Cornbread muffins, Squash Casserole, Pork Chops, Chicken Fried Steak, Meat Loaf, all the Veggies and Salad, Shakes, well really just everything! I’m getting hungry typing this info. And especially your staff. At any Dixie Café I went to, the staff was ALWAYS so nice, professional and went out of the way to make every customer’s dining experience great! I’ve eaten at so many places offering “home cooking” type meals, and Dixie’s was always the best tasting, satisfying. So many years and you couldn’t figure out how to streamline even with increasing costs? How can we get the real recipes so we might be able to replicate at home? Thank you for reading!

Your closing down the Dixie Café Location in Harrison, AR is really BAD. Harrison,, AR does not offer that many good restaurants to eat at. And this location was a great one. Serving great tasting foods. Not sure what the corporate office problem. But you should get it cleared up without closing such a great restaurant to eat at. Closing down is really BAD Business practice.

This is Doug Westgate licensed real estate agent & auctioneer with Wilson Auctioneers Inc. I am sorry to hear about the closing of the Dixie Cafe locations. I have had many great meals and especially love the squash casserole. I would welcome the opportunity to present a proposal for selling any or all of the restaurant buildings and equipment at auction.
Please let me know how we can be of service
